It has been more than five years since our last visit, and today we returned to check it out. Hmm. A lot has changed on the hillside in that time. GZ is now well and truly overgrown with bracken and blackberries. Gave up after a long look, as we couldn't get to it without a serious cleanup with a brushcutter. Time to let it go.
Nice spot. Beautiful Rock formations. If I had my time over I wouldnt have wasted my time. Between the bracken and the blackberries tearing us apart. This wasnt a nice area to search in.
normally, no one believes our logs
and rightly so
we don’t either
our reports of finding treasure typically are a noxious blend of myth, tall tales and whimsy
with a light sprinkling of truth, but nothing too substantial
here
we needn’t bother
we can depart from our usual style, and simply report the cold hard facts
this is as it happened:
here we met a rabbit
well, a man in a rabbit suit
a pristine, unblemished, snow-white, fluffy rabbit suit with giant floppy ears
he had a moustache
we emerged from the gully like soldiers through no-man’s-land:
legs torn to shreds from the barbwire blackberries
crusted in blood and curses and sweat
half a forest ensnared in our hair
the rabbit was in mint condition: no mark of dirt, nothing tangled in its fur
we nodded hello
he nodded back
we pointed to the hill: “we’re going geocaching”
he pointed to the grassy patch behind him: “i’m shooting a music video”
we both nodded again
and we went our separate ways

We were heading along the Linton Piggoreet Road from Linton hoping to find this one, but the road is closed at Golden Lake Rd. I suspect the bridge ahead was affected by floods recently. It may still be accessible from the other side but I don't know.
I've noticed signs to this place driving down the Glenelg Highway a few times. After stopping in Ballarat for a little disc golf, and with an accident on the Western Highway slowing down traffic ahead, I thought I'd take an alternative route and stop by Devil's Kitchen.
Nice rockery here. Shouldn't be surprising I guess, but the devil has quite a few spiky plants in his kitchen, what with gorse and blackberries and thistles and acacias etc. Worked my way up and down the steep hillside over the grass tussocks, but not a cache could I find.
Did enjoy the coolness coming out of one of the caves nearby, and the nice views in the area.

Day five of the Geo Tour adventure. The others had to head home so I’m travelling solo today to gather some adventure labs and other caches around the area.
I really should pay more attention to the descriptions and ratings before setting off. Crossing the “creek” expecting a path to take me to GZ I was very quickly brought back down to earth. 100m still to go through that??? I managed to make some way through the jungle and the gps said zero metres.... here? The area is overgrown how will I ever find it. I began a search and opted for some alternative views to see if I could spot anything. It was about this point I was regretting my decision to leave lunch until AFTER finding the cache as this might be some time away. Before returning to the exact GZ I decided to search a few nearby spots first. Bingo - that’s what I’m looking for! Well within acceptable tolerance but still almost a needle in a haystack. Now to find the way out - which I made up as I went along much the same as the journey in. Time for lunch now and a favourite for the adventure.
Thanks maccamob for the cache.

Disabled for the duration of the renewed Covid-19 lockdown. We believe the responsible thing is to disable all our caches until this latest crisis passes.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Finally! After multiple attempts at this one we decided to return (my 2 boys + 3 nephews). $5 was on the line to the kid who found it (I was determined today). Cache was found before I even got up the hill! I swear I’ve looked there many times on previous visits! Anyway, I’m just so grateful to turn this frown upside down. Such a wonderful location. In fact today there was water and rock hopping was required. Never had water here before. A fav point added. Thanks so much
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis. Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home. The virus can be transmitted by surface contact, so please don't take the chances. Geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue, so we need to get our priorities in order. Please stay at home!
We believe the responsible thing is to disable all our caches, until this crisis passes.
Thanks.

*Cache find # 10876.*
Today I headed to Ballarat and surrounding area with biggles1024 in search of COTY nominated caches as well as some members of the first Victorian 500, we also picked up a few others along the way.
Another old maccamob cache, it has been the day for it.
This is certainly an interesting area of which I did not know existed and at first when looking at the map, we were wondering how to get to it but it turned out to be fairly easy in the end.
After parking at the waypoint, we made our way along the trail and through the river crossing which was bone dry over the sea of pebbles and up the hill to the rocks, shortly after we were signing the log.
**Thanks to maccamob for placing this cache.**

Find #4429
Traditional Find #2766**
I headed out today with SteMicMitSar to Ballarat to attend an event and also some of the caches that have been nominated for the COTY Awards and also some particularly old caches. We parked at the provided waypoint and proceeded into the amphitheatre on foot. Evidence of several vehicles having driven in was visible on a number or rocks on which they appeared to have scraped their diffs.
Almost everything was bone dry during our visit so no water crossings were required. To our surprise, one such vehicle was parked towards the eastern end of the amphitheatre and a couple were camped there. I don't know who was more surprised, them or us. We made our way up the grassy hill, which made for a nice change from blackberries and thorny bushes. I was lagging a behind by this stage of the day and Steve had found the cache before I arrived at GZ. We took in the views before descending. Another great old cache.

Back again today to have another attempt at finding this one, to avenge my DNF from almost 5 months ago.
Not that I've I've trained him to sniff out Sistema plastic in the time he has been living with us, but I took Theo the geoBeagle out for a drive today as well for the company.
We both scrambled up the side of the hill but it was just too hard to hold his leash and keep my footing so I had to tether him up to a tree. He probably appreciated the shade anyway, it was getting a bit warm facing the morning sun.
And just like my last visit, I was really struggling for a good GPS fix, and my radar function on the smartphone wasn't really helping either. So I just concentrated on finding places matching the hint, methodically going over quite a big area before finally I found my prize.
Thx Maccamob ftc, certainly had to work hard to find this one, and another one ticked off my 500 oldest Vic caches list, ending up with 3 for the day. Really picturesque location.

Today our mission was to find this cache no matter what it took. Interestingly, we arrived followed by two more cars. Yippee we thought support from other geocachers, but no. Two ladies were bird watching, the other car where grandparents and their granddaughter, grandpa had came here to teach his grand daughter how to navigate back to home base.
After chatting we headed off, following the instruction about how we should approach the cache, a wise decision. We did take a pair of cutters with us, these were not needed. Once near GZ it took a little bit of systematic looking as our GPS was a little erratic, this worked for us and we soon found the cache container, which is in good condition. Yes, Mary and David I managed the climb to GZ.

Nearly 3 years after solving the nearby puzzle cache and finally getting down to this area to find this cache as well and the heavens open up with lightning and thunder while I'm up on the side of the hill with geodaughter#1 waiting in the car. Too wild and woolly up here to search for too long and the gps is of no help either now so a DNF today and I'm soaking wet. Next time maybe I'll have better luck. Thx maccamob!
SOOOOO many days, I have not much sensation in my feet. NOT today of course. Boy was that water cold. Thankfully they defrosted by the time we arrived close to GZ and I needed them to be alive. They certainly didn't appreciate the second dip. This is a very interesting little area. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
As we had just done the earthcache nearby, we weren't going to miss the chance to collect this one. Must say that the water was definitely cold. After a bit of a scramble we had the cache at hand. Thanks for placing this here and showing us this great location.

A fav point for sure.

After spending the morning riding around Smythesdale with LeeLee I continued on caching taking many detours on the way home.
Well this took a lot longer than expected. I located the crossing and made my way to GZ using a phone which couldn't settle in one spot, but I persisted up and down looking in every possible location. I eventually made my way to the top of the cliff and enjoyed the view.
I headed back down to have one more go at locating the hide.
I eventually gave up and sat down to log a DNF but due to poor reception it wouldn't send.
As I continued down I checked just one more possible location BINGO. Thankfully the DNF hadn't sent so I was able to delete it.
Log signed and replaced as found
As I made my way to the car I spotted two mine shafts which were explored.
Thanks for the cache Maccamob

Found this today with Alexikatty who had attempted this twice before. We thought with extra eyes we might just find this so off we went. Phones were jumping all over the place and the 3 of us all had different distances. We pulled out the Garmen and entered the coordinates and thought it only fair that us 2 girls stand back and watch the geo-male do the hard work. It took a little search until we heard "Got it" much to our relief as it was so wet. TFTC
Found it!!! I can’t believe it! Thank you TheFinderz 5 for convincing me third time lucky!!!
And CO for the help.

After several DNFs, we came by this afternoon to check on our cache. Found it in good condition, right where we left it, and still well clear of the blackberries and gorse. No secateurs needed for quite a while yet. You can get quite close to the cache by following the tracks through the grass and bracken.
Blackberries and gauze have overtaken the paths here. Managed to fight our way to GZ but not found. Would suggest anyone trying their luck here bring serious pruning shears with them and shoes with very good grip. Terrain should be higher. Spectacular rocks but disappointing after the long drive out here.
Did not find this one today unfortunately, this area does need a good clean up, lots of blackberry and gorse sadly. Also make sure you have hiking boots with very good grip as the terrain is uneven and soft and lacks grip in places.
No luck today. We tried the short way in but ended up going the long way instead. Made our way up to GZ no worries but after hunting with three kids for about 20mins we gave up. It was getting dark so we needed to hightail it. Lots of fun with the echo on the way back to the car!

En route from Warrnambool to Ballarat, a short detour and we found ourselves in the Devil's Kitchen. Found it after a 'longer than it should have been' search - PP missed it on the first pass.
Perhaps we can understand why there is a planned upgrade for the CO's kitchen after making our way to this little devil !!
Thanks 'maccamob' for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

I've driven past the turn off to Piggoreet many times and today with a little more time than usual on my hands I made the detour into Piggoreet and the Devil's Kitchen to check the place out. After finding the required info for the earthcache I set about finding a way through the very prolific gorse and blackberries, wishing I hadn't read that sign regarding poisoning of the blackberry bushes as there were hundreds of plump ripe blackberries waiting to be feasted on.

Got as far as the clearing on the other side of the crossing, but too hot and too steep to continue the push to GZ - looks worthy of every bit if it's 3 terrain rating!
Out and about on this sunny afternoon, it was high stepping towards GZ in case there were any slithery things around. A bit of a search at GZ and the cache was in hand. Thanks maccamob, it has been a while since I was in this area, I noticed the blackberries and undergrowth to be considerable.
Found on a freezing day when Ballarat received some now
Slopes were very slippery and footing was lost on more than one occasion
Finally found cache just as snow flurries began
Signed log before retreating back to my vechile for protection and taking off in search of another cache

Enjoying a day caching in the Enfield State Forest with Wozzle68, before attending a work dinner in Ballarat the evening.
This was our 13th cache today, which is Friday 13th May. Is that an omen? Not for us. We followed the directions and made our way up up up to the cache, where Chook found the cache neatly tucked away in the first place she looked. There was no trouble crossing the creek today - hardly any water at all. We also discovered a mine adit on the way up, and we will come back one day to explore this further. The cache itself is in good condition.
This is simply an awesome location with some amazing geology and history. Thank you for bringing us here maccamob.

Happliy found 5m from projected GZ which would have put me in blackberries. Just as I was scouting around looking for the way in spotted the hide. Phew! TNLN TFTC
Great cache. Found a nice couple of caves along the way which we will explore at a later date

We'd been alerted to the damaged container by ThePacman, so stopped by today on our way to Ballarat with a replacement. The hole had little teeth marks all around it, so it was clearly made by one of the local animals keen to get at something inside. Replaced the container and added a new log book.
Found during a leap-year caching day, which included a FTF, multiple cache types, unloved caches, cycling the BSRT from Scarsdale to Linton, finding another newly published series at night... racking up 62 finds with just 2 DNFs by the end of the evening.
After completing the BSRT series earlier in the day in Linton I headed to this interesting location, which I had been planning on visiting for quite a while. It seems quite wild in this devil's cauldron!
A definite favourite for me here - in a full day of caching, this was the clear highlight !
Great track notes explaining access (with WPs) made it possible for me to find my way to GZ. And an awesome, 'wild' location it was.
While it seems some cachers have struggled here, I followed my GPSr and found the cache easily exactly where the GPSr indicated it would be. Although 'easily' is a relative term, as it was warmer than 30 degrees, and I was just hanging on to some blades of grass while retrieving the cache.
The container had a rather large hole in it, although the contents were still in perfect dry condition. And I enjoyed reading the original longer story logs from 2002 in the now almost complete logbook. It's almost a bit of history here...
Latter day logs tend to just have a date and signature, but to be fair to newer cachers, there is usually less space in the smaller logs nowadays.
Thanks maccamob for another rewarding, top quality cache!

No happy to walk away from this one, but with the light fading, the rain becoming increasingly heavier, the March flies increasingly annoying and GPS spinning widely, I had to call off the hunt and head home.
What an effort taking the scenic route for this cache. Would of been disappointed had we not found it
Thanks to Kenare Sean.75 tba83 jking_91 and my geoboy for the help on this cache tftc

Last visit I was Brer Rabbit and decided not for me. Today after I had read the cache notes and was back here to complete the missing 'happy faces' on the rail trail I followed the directions perfectly and found the cache.
Took a look around and again wondered just how powerful Mother Nature is. It was a surprisingly big kitchen here and even more surprising was the ease of attack on the cache this time.
Don't know how you find all these different hidden gems for us to visit.

After completing the nearby earth cache we went in search of this one. I dont think we went the easiest way, should have read the cache notes, anyway after a bit of a search, spotted the cache in the obvious place. Thanks maccamob.
Found with Kenare and three Geokids.
Great views and a few wallabies about to watch.

Found on my second attempt, when I organized my Earthcache in the area I had a look but couldn't get any cooperation from my compass, today in the company of Wozzle68, Glanville Girls, Tomstache & Motndarg we made our way around to GZ the correct way and after some bush bashing the well concealed container was located

Caching today with Wozzle65, Glanville Girls, ST37E and Tomstache. After a short walk over rocks, ditches, prickles etc etc the cache was found OK. Hard to imagine the activity here during the gold rush days.
Out today with ST37E, Motndarg, Tomstache and Wozzle68. We missed this one the last time we were out doing the nearby earth cache but came back today to claim the prize. A nice walk to GZ (watch out for rabbit holes

Cache zombified.
Thought I would quickly grab this one while in the area getting a new mystery cache. How wrong I was! While I managed to park within 100mtrs of gz it was quite a bush bash to get in there. Thankfully I found the cache quickly because by then I was not in the mood for a long search... Cache in good order.

After a successful walk along the BSRT picking up some FTF's, we came here so I could pick up some unloved days on this cache. theTritonz were good enough to find this one for me as it was a little difficult to take the little Na'wal in this area. We found the cache after about fifteen minutes looking. We ended up finding it approx 15 meters away from the co-ords. Tough find and climb. Stamped and replaced as found.

Found on a maintenance trip to a cache to Linton. We decided to detour to a few unfound caches on the way which made the usual 30 minute trip take about 4 hours.
Like a numpty I decided a direct approach was in order.... man I am stupid. I got to within 50m of the cache then my batteries in my GPSr died. So I had to cross the creek again and get some new ones. This time I decided to read the cache note in its entirety and make the crossing as per suggested area. Which of course I didnt find until AFTER I bush bashed some more.... Now on the nice formed trail with a few cuts and scratches to add to the collection we made our way to the GZ and after a 10 minute hunt I finally came up with the goods.
Thanks for bringing me here Maccamob. This is a lovely place for a cache even if I did come away bleeding in a few places
Like a numpty I decided a direct approach was in order.... man I am stupid. I got to within 50m of the cache then my batteries in my GPSr died. That was interesting. Never knew that I really sweat even on bitterly cold days. What a great way to get fitter.
Suscoe had a day out in this area to visit some caches that have been on the list for far too long.
The last time this area had been visited must have been about 40 years ago on a family picnic by Mr. S.
The creek crossing was completely dry today and the walk to GZ was a delight.
Sunny weather made this even a little warm on this cool morning.
Sadly no peregrines today but the nest spots were obvious.
The cache was found and the log signed.
All is in good condition.
Thanks to maccamob for this placement out here, this is a delightful location.

Day number 17 of the 31 Days of Geocaching and after attending the International Geocaching Day Event – Buninyong, we headed out to Devil’s Kitchen to try and grab a cache placed in 2004. Really appreciated the waypoints for both parking and crossing as this made life a lot easier, particularly given the recent rain.
Took us a lot longer to reach anywhere close as we were blown away by the scenery here, it was really asking us to linger and saviour it. Not really sure if we took the best approach to reaching this one, and I think we should have refreshed our reading on the listing today as this would have reduced our searching time, given we could not get a spot on reading. Couple of other people around taking photos, so took care to avoid being muggled.
Thanks for the cache maccamob.

Was on the right trail, until the GPS went flat will visit again - and bring batteries!!!
So I parked the 4wd at what looked like the end of the track and my dog and I headed for the rocks trying not get get scratched by everything! After getting to the base I decided the cache must be on the top so found a way to climb up with my dog leading the way, once on top checked the gps and realized the cache was behind us somewhere. While my dog was having a ball in the long grass plants, I searched and searched every time the gps leading back to the big blackberry bush! I as I went to give up, it was right there in front of me!! So glad I brought my camera because this is an amazing place! Thanks for sharing. Took combi van tb
It was a surreal and slightly terrifying experience attempting this cache at night on Australia Day. I could hear the fireworks in Ballarat even from here, amidst the thumping of wallabies awoken from their sleep and bounding away as I approached.

This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.
The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.
We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.
We parked the cars and made our way to GZ, which became really steep and rocky and had many prickly bushes about. We searched and searched and eventually I made my way to the top and made a PAF call to get a better idea of the hide. It still took a further 15 mins or so of scrambling about the rocky and steep terrain before the cache was found. A challenge for sure and a great area as well.

Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.
Hadn't been found for over 6 months, and took us a huge effort as well, but worth it in the end (aren't they all....). After the PAF option was used, it was all good and well. TFTC maccamob.

This was, cache # 80 of 117 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. This one took us ages to find, I enjoyed the rock formations but the area of GZ was over grown with prickles of different types, we eventually used the PAF option to locate it, I took a reading may get people a bit closer as the coordinates were a bit off the mark. My thanks to maccamob for the cache.
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

When Hell freezes over? Well it did today, there was an icy 5degrees wind here! The cache had not logged in a while but I found the cache easily following the fresh geotrails, Thanks maccamob and Brer Rabbit
Woohoo, finally found it! Access was still blocked from the west side of the creek, but access is fine from the east (Linton-Piggoreet Road). I brang gumboots into Devil's Kitchen, it helped a great deal to stop all the grass seeds infesting your walking shoes.
It's pretty tough navigating around the side of the steep hill, chasing the shifting GPS signal, maccamob were helpful enough to supply a picture that I could use to orient myself. Very happy to mark this one off, Devil's Kitchen is a big area and I can imagine another cache will pop up here sometime in the future.

4th time is the charm LOL After falling in the creek last week without finding it, I wasn't looking forward to head back here again... But with Debbriamber by my side.. It was a quick easy find.. This place brings back childhood memories. Thanks
Aaargh!!! This cache has now become my official nemesis cache. I failed miserably at finding it at Christmas, coming so close yet getting so worn out in the process, that I had to leave ashamed and with a long walk out of the kitchen ahead of me. I attempted to return to finish off the beast today, only to find the road from Happy Valley to Piggoreet blocked off by some heavy duty roadblocks that are thankfully impassable. Some passing pedestrians informed me that the road had caved in at the bridge that crosses the creek just next to the Devil's Kitchen, and that they were walking down there to look at the hole. Which is a pretty good reason to close a road.
Some googling reveals the road is under 'long term closure', the closure on the western side is at s37 43.165 e143 36.480, I didn't try to approach from the eastern side, the closure on that side may be the same distance from the creek (1½ kilometres). To get to this cache nowadays would involve parking at a roadblock and walking alot further than necessary in the past. I'll check the VicRoads site when I next come to Ballarat and dare to finally make a find on this devil of a cache >:D

Argh, this cache destroyed me! I parked by the side of the road on the top of the hill, some 300m and some paddocks away, that was my biggest mistake. I should have followed the instructions to use the handy carpark and 4WD path in, but I must have had my mind elsewhere when sussing out the cache.
I came down the really grassy overgrown hill to GZ and got obsessed with the cache being under the immense blackberry bush swarming with bees, the GPS was pointing right at it but I'm guessing the cache had to be somewhere else. I did a few laps of the huge bush, looking at rocks and trees, but I never spotted the cache, it was a real struggle bashing through the long grass and the mini blackberry bushes.
I found my way out after being rejected, then went on the long walk up+down+around+up the hill back to the car, I shall return with more clues and an axe to grind! And gumboots.

Yet another of those great places to visit.
Great rock formations around the place
A good bit of exercise getting to this one.
I certainly raised a sweat

Much easier after we read maccamobs spiel.......... GPS had us in the wrong spot but when we approached of the 4x4 track signal was much better.
Love this place.
Left Travel Slug as think it will be at home here for a short while

This location brought back memories of a dear friend who we came here with in our uni days.
Geomum probably took the wrong way to the cache - not really appropriate footwear for muddy climbs, but when up the top, sent geofamily around and all was safer and easier.
Had cache in hand before long.
Left snake, padlock.
Took alien, play money.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane and for your hide.

No go. iPhones have no reception, so I couldnt use the app. Dedicated gps unit a must.
Excellent spot for a cache. Make sure all following cachers leave time to just sit for a while and admire the surrounds. Great hide as well. TFNC
Found the cache today at 8.30am today Arrived close to the gz and climbed up the rocks and I think it was the wrong way
Should have kept to the eastern side but eventually located the cache after all the effort going straight up nearly wore me out.
Took a snap hook
Thanks maccamob for the cache

Only a year since we replaced the cache, and now another lid failure. Time to change to a different container type. All ok again.
Found with Team Rubik and Deano post the CVGTIII. We headed here after completing the cache at the Nimon's bridge and what another sensational location this is. It was amazing to stand in the centre and feel like you were standing in what was once a ? volcano. I like caches that make me research a little further but it was a little difficult to find out a bit more about this one.
I did manage to come across and article from 1983 called the Devils Kitchen Geological Reserve Interim Management Plan. Apparently, The Devils Kitchen is a natural amphitheatre of high basalt cliffs. The scenic amphitheatre is the result of the Woady Yaloak River re-establishing a course through a valley once filled with lava flowing from volcanoes active in the Late Tertiary. I have to agree with Rob and Deano with this one that it is very earthcacheable!
We found the cache easy enough and managed to stay dry and mostly upright ! A great spot maccamob. Cheers.

It was great to finally get to this spot after years of driving so close but always in a hurry to get somewhere else. The terrain was always bit of a deterrent but today it added to the adventure. Corey and I made the trek through the wet grass and steep rocks and found the cache. It was still dry despite the comments regarding the lid.
We admired the surrounds and tried to imagine the formation of this place. Deano commented on what a good Earthcache it would make, perhaps an idea for the future?
Thanks guys, a fascinating spot.

Mr O and the geobrat went after this one and had the cache in hand after a short search and a steep climb. The heavy rain resulted in us being drenched by the time we got back to the car! Good hide - the container's getting a bit the worse for wear, though, lid's broken but the contents will stay dry where the cache is. TFTC.
17.50 This was going to be our last hunt for the day as we had to return to Geelong. We parked the geoute and looking at our GPS and took off in the direction that it was telling us to go. Well sometimes it pays to read your cache notes very careful but when you are caching paperless this does not happen.
As Speedy has said in his log we went the hard way and it was definitely more than three stars of terrain but eventually we found the GZ area. We used everything we had to locate this evil cache which was in an area that had tall grass, blackberries, lots of rocks, rabbit holes which we looked in with our torches all to no avail. Looking up the hill I was amazed to see the container in full view. We wondered why maccamob did go right up to the top as that seemed to be the logical location.
As previous finders have stated this cache will need maintenance as part of the lid fell off as I opened it? I will not put a needs maintenance note on it as I know it will be fixed ASAP.
This is another great area that I would not have visited had it not been for Geocaching, NI-NO and thanks to the maccamob team for placing a cache out here. I was hoping to finally get to 500 caches today but that’s life, next weekend.

Muggles were about, so Bushfire and I took perhaps the long route to near GZ.... We went over the dry river bed, through bushes, over rocks and sand, past prickles and worked our way to where we thought it would be.
We were both searching here and there then Bushfire looked up and there it was! Its hiding spot had been disturbed, and the cache was totally visible. After a quick log Bushfire made sure it was well hidden, then it was back to the geoute via yet another adventurous path!
As it was getting late in the day we made this our last find for the day and decided to head home. 17 finds in total for me for the day. TNLN, TFTC!

Found today while out hiding caches nearby. What a wonderful spot to view rock formations and mine earthworks. No water in the creek but were rewarded by coming across a wallaby that was unconcerned by our presence. The cache was a walk through very "snakey" country (unnerving in sandals). We swapped a macca toy for a penguin. The cache lid is deteriating and may need replacing soon. SL TFTC
Great spot for a cache. I've only ever been here previously to go rock climbing and that was back in the late eighties, before that rather unfortunate school fatality. Not sure why anybody would take kids there to climb! The rock is shockingly unsound.
GPS really liked this area. It ran me up the hill and down the hill, then back up again then down again and so on ad nauseum. Don't know why, It had 9 satellites locked in. Finally, I'd had enough and had a decent read of the text and, combined this with logic and the general line of the receiver, I landed on the right spot.
Didn't happen to see the Peregrine but did catch sight of a Wedgie. In fact, actually experienced one or two myself, scrambling up and down that bloody hill.
No swaps made. Many thanks, Maccamob, for an enjoyable cache in what is an amazing geological location. That small group of columns on the far end is stunning!

we did not spot the peregrine falcon, it spotted us and defended its territory with swooping, loud cries and other assorted activities. We decided that retreat was a sensible tactic and hence DNF
I managed to suss out the right way in to this one and then the information made for a good approach too. Once at gz the cache was quickly found and the exact hiding location and the area were both able to be appreciated. Interesting spot and a good one for a cache, thanks maccamob.
