It was a long walk, with no joy at the end of it for us. So despite coming prepared with the replacement logbook, there was no cache to put it in. I have photos pprass, which I will email, but I am pretty sure it is gone Sad

After 9 years and 9 months of providing some fun to cachers - the camo has been squashed and the container has disappeared. Oddly though only 3 caching teams out of the 89 who found it exchanged wine with us! Doesn't seem to be what cachers like to drink Wink

Try as I might I just couldn't get the right numbers whilst in the field. Sad
I have re-jigged the numbers now and I'm optimistic my next visit will prove triumphant!

Eventually found the cache. It seems gravity has taken a hand and I could not extract the cache without breaking the surrounds a little. So first clue to searchers is to look for signs of disturbance. Second clue is to stay on the paths to the cache and not head cross-country like I did and get wet feet. Still a nice wild spot if you ignore the traffic noise. TFTC

I think a tree had fallen because it took a long time to open and had a good kicking to dewedge it to get it to that point. Returned neatly with mr and mrs ross47. Tftc tnln

Worked all the clues out except for one at home and took an educated guess at the last one. Came up with only one real valid looking GZ so off I went.
Once at the GZ made a quick find, signed the log and rehid the cache. Then made my way back to the car through a whole lot of really nice little bush paths. TFTC and the walk.

Hallelujah, how good does it feel to have a thorn removed from your side.
Apart from a cache up a tree, this is the closest to home that I haven't found despite many tries. I have had most of the clues for some time but one has continued to elude me despite many attempts to find it. Then one day I decided to come from another direction and treat the cache like a puzzle. Bingo, there are a very limited number of possible solutions and only one that seems to make any sense so off I go. On the first visit I'm convinced I'm at the correct location but no luck with the find, tried a couple of alternates but keep coming back to my starting point. Time for a break, a think and another day.
I keep coming back to Jacimarbles comment about the coordinates being spot on, so trust your instincts and go to the spot. Here I am and nothing so I turned around and bingo there it was, such a beautiful sight after about 9 months of on and off looking.
GZ is one of those rare spots in suburbia where you can truely get lost in. Thanks for the journey and the destination pprass.

This was my target for today, (with a couple of diversions along the way). Started at home with google and google maps, then headed out for the rest of the information. Solved the puzzle and found that GZ was in an area where I had ridden often. Enjoyed the walk this sunny afternoon. Until I took the wrong direction and discovered I was 100m off the cache. Go back and take the right way, or bush bash a bit. Bush bash of course. Get closer to GZ and the ground turns swampy and wet. And swampier and wetter. In the last few steps to the path I was in water up to my ankles, could have been worse I suppose - could have been wet up to the knees! Surprised a muggle as I leapt up to drier ground, who wondered just what I was up to! He must have thought I was crazy. (Nope - just a geocacher!). After a brief chat I continued on to GZ, fortunately out of his sight! It didn't take too long to find the cache, co-ords were spot on, then it was just a matter of recognising the hide!!

04-Jul-12
Solved the puzzle component for this multi last week and then headed out on Monday to pick up the cache, but the pouring rain had me hiding under a tree taking pictures of a rainbow. Did get the to GZ, but a search found no cache and it was dark. Returned tonight and light was on my side so managed a good hunt and noticed something which turned out to be the cache. I replaced the log book with a fresh one and transcribed the wine swap details as best I can. The cache container was nice and dry, just the old book was wet. It could use another snap lock bag though. Really nice cache hide though.

I'd been very busy at work recently and had been working up to 70 hours per week, working a full day then heading back in at night and doing another 6 or so hours. Tonight I had enough and needed a break so what better way to relax than go and find some caches.

This was another cache I found tonight in which most of the leg work and running around had been done over previous visits to the area. It was a nice mild / cool night and perfect for a bit of a walk. Made my way to GZ and spent quite a bit of time searching for the cache. After reading some past logs I knew I was in the right area but still took a bit of hunting before finally I found the hide. The area had a bit more undergrowth which had hidden the cache even more. I'd left a replacement log I had in the car but was able to still sign the log in the cache. Thanks pprass.

Could the next cacher please help us out by replacing the log book. It seems that Melbourne is getting wet again!

28-Feb-12
After completing a nearby cache, we spotted this one, and couldn't pass it by, as it combines two of our favourite past-times: caching and wineries! So we headed off around the streets grabbed all the clues and punched in the co-ords for GZ. Seeing a fairly long trip in front of us, we set out, but then decided to recheck the maths. Oops, missed a vital line in the description. Redid the numbers, found a closer GZ, and after a short walk there was the cache. Unfortunately we didn't read any past logs, so didn't bring a new log book. Left some sheets of paper. Thanks for bringing us here, and for the cache. TN L: pathtag.

Find # 1462

I have had this cache in the works for around 2 years, and was stuck on one of the numbers. With a small hint from a fellow cacher and 3 re works of the numbers, I finally had the final co ords.

Well, a hot day today, one more cache before going indoors for the rest of the day. I had attempted this twice, two weeks ago, once before basketball in the fading light and once after my game with a torch in hand. Both times, I had no luck. Today I really wanted to find this one and after an extreme search of the area, came up with the very well camoed cache.

The log book was all slimy and the cache container filled with water, so I left them out in the sun for 30 minutes. The container, the laminate cards and the pen were dry, but the log book was still slimy. Maybe the next cacher can bring a new log book and plastic bag.

Thanks to pprass for the cache and the adventure. TNLN.

I was over here yesterday and did the nearby traditional. I started to work out the answers but ran out of time.
I returned today with EB99, gathered the clues and made off to GZ.
Then it all went pear shape.
We spent a good 30 minutes at our calculated GZ, diving through the scrub, through the long grass, only to sit down and do our calculations again. Hmmph - only 320 metres out.
Off we trudge to our new GZ, calculated on the palm of my hand, only to spend a further 30 minutes huffing and puffing and definitely NOT finding a cache. I phoned a friend, who was enjoying a beer in Sydney, and he gave us some clues, but we still couldn't find it.
So we gave up and left.
As we were walking back, about 100 metres from where we had been searching, I said what about here, and what do you know. There it was. We only had one number wrong, but it was a pretty big one.
Thanks pprass for the cache.
Unfortunately the ziplock bag was full of water w and the log has soaked it all up. I didn't have any replacement logs on me today, so was unable to fix up

Solved this one several months ago which seems to be par for this cache. When I looked at the coords. on the map I was not very confident that I was right and with all the reports of wet caches needing maintenance in this area I was not keen on the long walk to find out. Then we went bush for 3 months. With heavy rain forecast for tomorrow I figured I had better get out there while it was still reasonably dry. Very pleased on arrival to find I had the right answer after all. Really commend the effort you put into your hides. The container is dry inside but the log book is still a bit damp. TFTC.

Well, this one has certainly taken some time.

For a long while this cache sat on our map and I never got around to venturing into the area - When I finally did in December last year I soon realised that this was a multi I wouldnt be able to complete in the field, so I gave it up for another day.

Then, on a quiet lunchtime I solved it. Then lost the solution. Then solved it a month or so later... And finally today I got around to dropping in here.

Very quiet today (a little bit TOO quiet, as I started to feel self-conscious as to what I could be up to here!) but made a brisk stroll to GZ. Immediately went for one spot which turned up nothing but mud & slush, so checked my GPSr, followed it as I always should have, and then spotted something which looked like it had potential. Sure enough Smile Great hide.

This spot's getting a bit rubbishy though - Plywood sheet, wood pallett, length of carpet. It's either kids making a cubby or a homeless residence... Hope the cache survives ok - Seems great for the moment.

TFTC.

Finally got back here. Great cache.

Having a look at my stats generated from GSAK (the joys of being retired Big Grin) and uploaded to GC.com by the GenUploadstats macro, I noticed a gap in my Finds Placed by Month table for Dec 2004. Using GSAK to identify candidates to fix this showed this one to be the nearest to home. It was probably the most interesting too, although I didn’t examine the more distant ones. (If you don’t like long logs you should skip from here on).
I did a virtual tour of the defined area with the winey names, and came up with a viable solution. A small name problem emerged at the last clue, but as it turned out, I didn’t need to count any seats.
I drove the 20 odd kms from home to the solution area and parked as close as I could to where I needed to be. While walking to GZ I passed a Greek couple whom I at first thought were collecting mushrooms in a large grassy area beside the path. It turned out however that they were collecting a plant which looked to me a lot like the base of a dandelion. They said it makes a great salad base instead of lettuce. Come to think of it, our Dalmatian loves to eat these plants at the local park. They didn’t know what the English name for the plant was, and I can’t remember, and didn’t really understand, the Greek name they attributed to it. All this may be of interest to wine buffs who might like a dandelion salad with a nice pinot blanc.

Anyway, I continued onto GZ, where things were in a fairly parlous state. There was a lot of long grass, the ground was wet, and there was a lot of rubbish which had been washed there by the numerous rains and resulting floods we have had this year. I didn’t find the cache for a while, but eventually found the sneaky hide after about 10 minutes, about 7m from my indicated zero point. The inside of the cache was wet, and the log was damp but not too bad, inside its ziplock bag.
I returned to my car and used the roll of toilet paper I keep for things like this, to dry out the cache. I ditched the items inside which were too far gone, including several paper or cardboard items, a mouldy handkerchief and some rusted plastic and metal items. The only things worth retaining were the laminated items. I spent about 30 mins cleaning out the cache, and letting the log book dry out in the sun on the dashboard of the car, then added a new pen and walked back to the hide.
I’m not sure if the water level comes up to the cache, I don’t think so, or whether it’s just the rain that has been getting to it. I made it as weatherproof as possible and walked back to the car.

Thanks for this cache Pprass. I really enjoyed spending the morning doing this cache, and I knocked off a few others on the way home too.

#608 This one has been on the radar for awhile so today was the day. Did the homework at home beforehand (thanks again Google!) then drove around collecting the info. On doing the calculations it became obvious that I didn't know a lot about wine (I already knew that!) as I had an impossible co-ordinate. However, an educated guess gave a likely GZ so off we went. Great sunny day for a walk on the first day of Winter. Arrived at GZ and soon found yet another great camo job from pprass. Really enjoy finding caches where a lot of effort has gone into it. Well done. TNLN SL.

Finally. I actually had more success with google earth than I did on the ground but I made some hasty decisions on the ground that I didn't make this time round. No spiders on my visit - the rain washed poor incy out. However the puddles of stagnating water weren't much better. Not to be deterred I started hunting and quickly located the hide. Very nice job. Took the bag of marbles and grenade and signed the log. TFTC.

It's literally years since I started working on this one, and I was really looking forward to (hopefully) making the find. We both enjoyed the walk through this terrific area. The good growing season is evident in the lushness of the reeds lining the path to gz, and the cache site itself is guarded by a LOT of spiders, judging by the number of webs we fought our way through.

And then there it was.....I instantly recognized the handiwork of a master cacher. What an achievement. Cool

As mentioned, the cache is damp but the log book is still ok, though there's only one blank page left. I didn't have any cache repair supplies with me to fix things up.

Thanks for a terrific cache, pprass.

Phew, I finally got this off my chest. I had brought a TB from Germany, which wants to go to wine-related caches, so In Vino Veritas was the perfect fit. But it’s a mystery… [B)]
With some help from pprass I got the home questions sorted so that I could move to the next level today. Picked up all the info, applied some intuition (what’s a Civil Celebrant?) and worked out the coords for gz. Glad I didn’t come by bike as it was quite a bit to go.
When the gps said 30m I decided to take the direct line – not a good idea. Finally saw a much, much better approach to get to the cache. Wet feet but happy. Really nice area and great camouflage.

This one has been a bit of a challenge not being a classey drinker and not totally sure on some of the answers. I knew it was in this area but could not find my way in before. Today the wind must have been blowing the right direction and I parked in the right spot, nice little walk dodging the cyclists, joggers and dog walkers. Did not expect to find it where it was, (what else is new). Cache was exposed but replaced correctly. Thanks pprass to the great tour on one of your favourite subjects.

We have had the co-ords for this for over two years but haven't ever got round to finishing it off. Today was such a lovely day and being in the area doing some cache maintenance I decide that it was finally time to get it off the list. I went for a very pleasant stroll through this great park and was soon in the vicinity of gz. After searching for awhile I had no luck so rang pprass for help as I had limited time before I had to return home to do some baby sitting. He was very helpful and the cache was soon in hand

Found during a busy afternoon's caching with Wal who was down from Sydney... what better way to kick off daylight savings than with a day's caching!

Thought it about time I got around to it - we've been driving past waypoints 1-4 for 4 months now! Headed out after doing the maths... and after 15 other caches... to find that we were close, but like usual, a small mathematical error was putting us initially 200m out (YYY wrong) then 150m out (ZZZ out due to YYY out) before finally getting 3rd time lucky with the find.

Will need to arrange to partake in the wine part of the cache (either swapping or partaking) again soon.

Hmm - I foolishly attacked this one in a direct line - resulting in wet feet. All totally unnecessary for a very conveniently located cache!

I know nothing about wine, so I went to a Liquor store an ask some questions and got the answers I needed. Then headed off to answer the second part of the questions, done now I was off to find the prize. Hang on! this can't be right, I have to many numbers for my east co-ords, ok back to the house numbers. You idiot read the right letter box next time. Got it, now back to the area again, did the maths, went looking wrong again redo the maths, got it now this has got to be it. I don't know this can't be right out in the middle of the track, I give up, time to go home(Saturday). Came home to log a did not find, hang on what have I done here, maths I took 133 of instead of 113 that makes it about 30 metres from where I was (idiot). today was the only chance I had to go back, bingo found it.

I have visited a couple of the wineries/regions that supplied the answers to the cache questions. The region renowned for fortified wines is of particular interest to me and I heard that something in the order of 7 or the 20 100 point fortified varieties found WORLD WIDE come from this small little area. While visiting recently one of the winery owners mentioned that the scoring system had to be changed as a result and they have wine journalists travelling from all over the world to visit. Remarkable. Anyhow, I employed my dad's expertise to answer a couple and picked up the clues easily while driving around. I had a bit of difficulty getting to the cache but eventually found a way in without having to leave the path, and the very neatly hidden cache container was found after bit of a search.

As with Camelot I like the method for this cache and will surely catch up with you over a drink at the next event.

Dropped as many TBs as I could! Smile

And so to the end of a long road … our 1000th find. My quandary was whether to let the kilometre-stone pass by gracefully and randomly or do something a bit special. I had been meaning to do find this cache for quite a while and with the wine theme, I thought that that made it celebratory enough to mark the occasion.

I collected the answers and after correcting my mathematical mistake that nearly saw me walk into somebody’s house and ask if I could check their backyard Red Face, I headed to the real GZ … or so I thought. I must have approached from the wrong direction and was just about to give up when I saw a particular structure in the distance and thought that there must be a way to get there. Sure enough there was and soon I was close.

Geko had me at one spot when approaching from one direction and entirely different spot when approaching from the other. After checking the first spot, which was certainly a possible hidey hole, I tried the other and what do you know, our 1000th find was retrieved from its clever hiding spot at 16:15 Big Grin.

Found by Roma and Max.
Max, being a beer drinking peasant, it was left to Roma, who enjoys a white or two, to recognise the necessary streets to resolve this puzzle!
It is a pleasant, if unusual experience to collect all the necessary detail for a multi without leaving our vehicle once.
Max was delegated to make the final assault as there appeared to be another obstacle preventing our approach to GZ.
This proved only to be a hiccup in the scheme of things.
Once again we admired the final camo and appreciated the thought and effort applied here.

~11:45 This has been on my radar for a while. I don't mind the odd drop here and there but I am not really a connoisseur - in fact I cant really tell the difference after the first few bottles. So with King Snr behind the wheel, myself with a bottle of pre desalinization H2O and Squire in the back, we came out today. We were armed with Snr's Wine's Australia book and squire's Spring Valley Blend Orange - 2007 but we still missed Question 2 - none the less, we still managed to stumble through it. Also the temporary fences on the walk to GZ meant we had to find an unconventional route there - anyone looking on would have thought we were drunk as 3yo squire pushed the stroller into trees and tumbled over in the mud ! At GZ found the cache easily in its well constructed case. Thanks Pprass a great multi. In: McDog Out: Herbie TB (been parked here for a while - don't drink and drive). Cheeeeeeeeeers ! hic.

I solved this one a long time ago and today I visited the relevant streets gathered the info and headed off to GZ. Security fences made my job a little trickier and I wandered into a swamp too but never mind the cache was found and had already been visited today by solomon family. Being from a wine family (3 uncles with vineyards) means I have a keeness for the product. Thanks Pprass

Our 400th cache today and a fitting one at that. We googled the answers the night before and found the clues easily enough. Arriving at the car park we thought that this area looked familiar. Took the wrong path in and followed a faint geotrail in obviously left by others. Whilst swaggie1 looked in the hard places, swaggie2 looked in the easy place and found it!! At 1152.
In TB Herbie and 12 marbles.
Out Koala key ring.
No wine swapped as the cellar is very low at present, but you can be sure we will enjoy a red & white tonight.

Some googling had me some answers and a little logic helped too. The rest of the answers were duly gathered on site and in due course I was off for the cache. I too went the long way but no matter, I was soon at gz, only a friendly approach from a 'nice' man to greet me on the way. (That is 4 such haunts at cache hides that I know of now - its inevitable I guess!) Got my jacket dirty looking in the wrong place (its inevitable too! I use an old jacket) before wising up to trusting the gps and the clever hide was soon found. Thanks pprass for another well put-together effort. Smile

Found @ 20:30. I too like many before me don't have a great knowledge about wines. Thank goodness for the internet and a street directory. Homework complete, off to answer the questions. All OK except for one. Think it was Q4. With a little logic applied, worked out what I reckoned the answer should be. It was a nice evening so the Geo Mrs and I grabbed the bikes and cycled towards GZ. Entered from the wrong path and as the grass and reeds got taller thought I'd got it all wrong. Circled around a bit and it became a little more promising. Cache was then fairly quickly located. Thanks for the challenge Pprass.

Well this one has been sitting around bugging me on my "nearest unfound" list for quite a while. I disregarded it at first, because, as a tee-totaller, I thought I couldn't answer questions about wine. Well Google is my friend, and I sat down and found the answers in about half an hour, though the National Trust one had me going for a while. No probs finding all the clues, and then off to the final site. The hiding spot had me stumped for a while, and the hint was no help at all. I finally stumbled across the cache, but unforutnately there is no pen in there, and I'd left mine in the car, so I was unable to sign the log. TNLN. Thanks Pprass, I'm glad I finally got to this one!

With a car full of "chefs " and farmers we took to the challenge around midday. After a few backstreet dramas, wrong turns, and near misses, we gradually got a few clues .A quick "google" call helped ,then after the final "civil celebrants" number we took a stab as we thought some of our results didnt gel!We had a 1999 Melway and all our hunches were in a winery in a display barrel on Burwood Hwy just opposite Bunnings! So we hit the gz trail up and down the hwy only to find the winery has since gone and a set of modern townhouses have gone in !!!!!SO..onto 2 possible co-ordinates that after a solid walk had us searching in likely hide positions but still no cigar. So a new attempt at crunching the numbers and a mistake was found in our addition. The new spot was only 55m away ,so the chase was on..head chef pulled a "quad muscle" in the chase and was left for the "buzzards" whilst the rest hit the ...hopefully last result we had and "bingo", the sneaky hide was discovered !Some excited paperwork was conducted ,the cache rehidden and certain relief after many street location travels.Well done to the cache fanatic pprass for the "wines of the world " tour and picturesque cache location!

Finally got around to doing this one today, it has been hanging around on the GPS for ages. With Mr Farmer at the wheel we were determined to find it. Not having reserched the answers was our first mistake, ET had to phone home to get some google work done. It was then that we had a wiff of the GZ. Mr Farmer suggested the old Vermont winery as the likly GZ, it was always just there when I was a kid growing up in this area, Dooh! its sercumb to land values and is now a block of town houses. Off to the GZ hmm that is not right, I knew I should have done the maths myself using the phone, hmm thats better. The chace was on and Head Chefs quad muscle went twang, dooh the Farmers would get it first, oh well all great fun.

Thanks Pprass for a great cache

We have had this cache on our to do list for dome time yet it always seemed that another cache would pop up and this one would be put onto the later list, mind you we also drank our swaps and I felt saddened at the thought of parting with a 1970 Bobbie Burns Shiraz.
With 17 years in the Hotel industry the answers were easy but we enjoyed visiting many wine districts to confirm the numbers. One by one we toured and by question 4 I was looking for a bottle shop, cheese shop and a loaf of crusty bread, the power of names had us wanting an afternoon of relaxing with wine, cheese and bread
By late afternoon we had the numbers, final location, wine, bread and cheese, but one clue didn’t add right so after a quick call to Pprass we confirmed our hunch and we set off for the final location. After a pleasant walk we arrived at the GZ and the cache was found easily and logged. We toasted the find in good spirit of a Wolfe Blass Cabernet Sauvignon, Edam Cheese and a French Cobb
Many thanks Pprass for the cache which was one of the best multi’s we have done and tasted.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the “I really thought the final location was going to be isle 5 in the local Dan Murphy store†Clan.

Found at 17:10. Note: Answer for D= is out by 1. One of the seats is missing - if not, then the calculation takes us to a GZ that is 25km away. However, we thought we would need a cut lunch and a good bottle of wine to travel that distance...mind you you have been sneaky before with a long distance run from original coordinates (I fondly remembered The Tribal Contract). But by adding 1 to D all works out. I'll send e-mail to pprass to confirm details.

Took: Mobile lady thingy Left: Yellow (Pink) Pather keyring + Next! Stamp. SL.

Look forward to sharing a bottle of wine in the future. TFTC pprass.

Found @ 17:10 with NEXT! I have been carrying around Chief Wino 4 TB looking for somewhere to deposit in line with it’s theme and I had been planning to do this one for a while. Attempted it yesterday with Next! without doing any research first [8] BIG Mistake [8] as all I know about wine is they make it from grapes and you get a sore head if you consume too much. Today armed with my results from various googles we found the correct GZ. Although we nearly ended up in the Wine growing district of Yering just outside of Yarra Glen. This was due to the answer for one of the questions being out by one. After a lengthy discussions with Next! about the other cache by PPRASS that were a significant way from the starting point and looking around for another ???? and not finding it we headed off to try the logical closer spot first and we found the cache. You are very inventive PPRASS with the way you hide your caches [^]. With all the discussion I realised when I did get to GZ that I forgot the TB and I will have to visit again to deposit it. Took cork screw left Koala Keyring.
TFTC PPRASS very clever.

Didn't come fully prepared. After getting to GZ I read the instructions...then realised just how much I don't know about wine. Drove around abit with Scooters Mob but realised it was futile until reaseach completed on Internet. Took bottle of red wine home and enjoyed it with a beautiful steak. I'll be back before the cellar gets too empty Big Grin

Found @ 04:20pm. On wet winters Sunday afternoon decided to try to find GZ after assuming I had to add one to an answer due to recently walking through GZ on the way back from finding a nearby cache. Not beginning a wine buff it took a bit of googling research and two visits to the public ways to calculate most of GZ, it was interesting and a challenge all the same. Great hide.
TNLNSL (intended to place TB but would not fit in.
Thanx pprass....

I knew the answer to two of the questions, guessed the third, but had no idea about the forth. A bit of research was entered into before this night. (Do you realise how many random bottles you have to drink before you are sure who has a National Trust Building on the label? Smile)
It was fun driving around seeing all the familar names on the streets. (I DON'T have a drinking problem!!! Smile)
The calculations were a bit taxing at that time of night, but we were soon on our way. A short stroll in the moonlight found us near the end of a boardwalk, of course we had to look under there, even though the GPS's said otherwise. After getting that out of our system, we started the search in ernest. Soon found by Chewin'.
If this is how you cellar your wines, you are spending too much time making the racks, and not enough drinking Smile
Thanks for an enjoyable cache, Robmc.

16-May-06
Robmc did the homework on the streets and the rest of us contented ourselves finding the various things within the streets. No great problem but a misscalculation would have had us about 4km from GZ. This was discovered before we moved off so we went to the right place and as Robmc said I made the find. Quite pleased with myself on that score, especially as the hour was quite late. Somewhere around 11.30. I didn't get home untill 1.15am.
TNLN according to my notes. Not a drinker but I'll settle for a cuppacino some day. Smile Thanks

It has taken me a number of visits and a little help to find this one. This geocache owner goes the second mile - don't expect to find the cache under a handful of sticks or a board-walk! I took pliers and left a nautical hankie.

28-Dec-05
Visiting family who live in the area for Christmas, and we'd noted the naming of streets after wines etc, so it was fun to do - but I did need to do some research - the only one I knew was the first question.
I popped out early in the morning to do the clues, and didn't have much trouble with it all, although I did have a temporary worry when a corner house in the street where the civil celebrant lives was up for sale. Also found that one of the questions seems to require a substitution of an E for an S, but on arrival at the road realised it was correct.
Then set off with half the family and extended family down to Terrara Park to find the cache. Don't worry, this isn't a spoiler, as upon finding the centre of an oval I realised I'd copied the coordinates in wrong. So, back into the cars, and found the real spot.
Lovely setting, bellbirds making a real noise. Liked the hiding spot, found one just like it in Basingstoke a few weeks ago.

Took a couple of kookaburra circles. Left a Barcelona key ring.

BTW, there's no pen in the cache at the moment, and unfortunately didn't have a spare to leave.

I finally got around to really doing this one, I had had a couple of attempts but hey when you don't really read the clues and do what is asked you have to expect a lot of walking for nothing which is exactly what happened the first time and ummm also the second time. I eventually got round to reading what I actually had to do and having zero knowledge of the wine industry I was certainly at a loss with the clues. I resorted to the Net and managed to get a partly correct answer which got me one of the clues. Driving the area got me another one and deduction got me the final clues. However upon arriving at the area I was somewhat purturbed about my GPS telling me I was going to get a bit damp. So I left no cache bah! I wanted it off my locl cleanup list. After bumping into Muzza he confirmed that my results were correct. So it was back to the location this evening. On a hunch I walked on after my GPS said here it is here it is. GPS sulked for a while then perked up again a bit later - could have been the promise of wine, but whatever it pointed me in the right direction and the cache was quickly located. Great little hide. TNLN. No point swapping any wine as it would be wasted on me. The occassional glass is usually a chardonnay and an occassional red when I go out for dinner. But on the other hand a nicely aged Port is pretty good.

I sure was glad to finally get this off my list. Not being a wine drinker I had no clues on this one, so had to use Google for my Answers, well after driving up and down looking for someone to marry me I decided that I must have the wrong Answer, so no Problem get the palm out use the Bluetooth and yes we are on the net in the car, a quick Google and oh no still getting the same Answer. After not being able to raise the head wine drinker of the Rebel Alliance I decided to call in another member and the error of my ways was pointed out to me, Thanks Muzza. Shortly after the wine drinker of the Alliance called and all was sorted out. The cache stood out like a sore thumb to somebody who knows there botany, but I really liked the hiding method, well done. I was going to leave a keg of port but it would not fit in the cache so TNLN. I think I used fishing Gaff number 4 on this one.
Thanks Peter for an enjoyable tour of the area.
PS Long live the Rebel Alliance.

Found at 3.30PM

I didn't expect to actually find this one today, as I had left my GPS at home before heading to work, and guess what happens, at 2.00PM the boss tells me to go home becuase were short on work this week. So I was in the Northern Suburbs and the GPS was at home in the South east Suburbs, so I decided on checking my cache nearby. While walking down the path I noticed a worn down track heaind off to a oddly place object nearby, I thought can it be?? nah, but I checked it and it was, lol so without a GPS and just using intuition I found this cache. Thanks for the cache Pprass, I didn't ever think this one would be so close to one of my sweet 16 series, oh well if mine ever gets muggles I shall be moving mine further up north by a fair but so that these two are not to close..

Myself and GeoNovice Melissa went on the hunt for caches local to me (so I could demonstrate caching without appearing like I was the novice) Smile

I did the research before hand, but my answer to question 4 was odd and the result was pretty impossible given the equations. We had a stab in the dark at guessing what the result *should* have been and went for the location. And found nothing! Surprised

We came home, did a bit more googling and found the correct answer to 4a, did the task and got the same answer, so we ended up at the same place. Fortunately, commonsense and the GPS gods smiled this time and we found it OK [^]

All back to normal again. Cache container cleaned up, log book dried out, contents washed and dried. Only one casualty which was replaced with some other goodies. From the flattened grass, it looks like a lot of water went rushing through here. Will leave the cache in the same position though hoping that this area only floods once every 100yrs!

Cache container needs a little maintenance after the floods. Will be available in a few days.

When we saw the flood damage at ground zero we feared the worst for this cache but it was still there although rather damp inside. Thanks for the interesting wine lesson and thanks to Tim (tahpee) for setting us straight with the clues. TNLN.

This cache combines several of our great passions (wine, dog walking and geocaching). The only thing missing was music. We already knew the answers to 3 of the questions and soon found out the 4th using Google. Once on the hunt we gathered the clues. There was some dispute about how to do the count at the 4th location but we headed off regardless. We got to the target as the light was fading only to suffer a bike rider resting nearby. He was sent on his way when we started taking photos. The local ducks didn't look all that wild - more likely peaceful and relaxed. At the target we checked out the obvious place (no good) and then noticed signs of previous visitors. We headed in the obvious direction to the obvious end-point. Unfortunately the final target did not turn out to be Pprass' private cellar (as we had hoped from the hint) but it soon yielded the cache at 8:35pm. Thanks Pprass for the very enjoyable cache. We took a koala key-ring and left a "grenade" water pistol. We also dropped off GeoCoin "Where Am I" so that it could enjoy the peaceful surrounds. We already have a suitable wine from our favourite winery (Chrismont) in mind for the swap.

Found by Geowombats at 12:15.

Ended up doing this one in three parts.
Part 1. had me finding the general area.
Part 2. had us googling for the correct answers with the melway.
Part 3. had me returning to the neighbourhood to get the final answers before heading off to the final GZ.

To quote caughtatwork regarding the approach to final GZ. 'I went on my merry way getting closer, further away, closer, further away, closer, closer, Ahhh. The geotrail points the way.

T: Rubber ball.
L: Womans head on wheels.

Thanks pprass for the fun cache, and I liked the final hiding spot.

I was out for a luncheon date today so I thought I'd grab this one as it's not too far from town. I did the work last night to get the right details as I know nothing of wine (apart from how to guzzle it).
Isn't it amazing what google will tell you when you know the right questions to ask. Well, apart from the 4th clue. There was no street, court, road, lane, way, etc that matched the inrformation I gathered.
Getting close enough I thought I'd give it a try anyway and it turned out to be correct. Hmmm!
Input the co-ords to the GPSr and I was on my way. Halfway there I had a nice conversation with dak of the Emu Mob (he rang about a different cache I found yesterday) and he confirmed that the numbers I had gathered were correct although the clue was a tricky one.
Arriving close to GZ I went on my merry way getting closer, further away, closer, further away, closer, closer, closer. Ahhh. The geotrail points the way.
I found the cache almost immediately upon arriving so I wasn't bothered by the potential mosquito infestation that is brewing not too far away.
Took torch and bracelet, left laser pointer and koala key ring.
As a non-wine drinker (except or rare occassions on corporate retreats when the boss is paying) I can't partake of the wine exchange.
Thanks to pprass for an interesting cache with an interesting theme and possible wonderful swaps outside of the cache container itself.

I actually tried this one last week while in the area. I found the most likely way in to the published co-ordinates and parked the car, only to pull out the PDA and find that they were bogus. Being a non-drinker, I knew none of the answers, and so left it for a future date, today as it happened.

Before heading out, I spent a little time with Google to work out what I hoped were the right answers. As it turned out, they were right and after visiting each of the four streets, headed off to my calculated GZ. There was a sense of relief when I found a path to GZ and discovered the area had trampled down grass, a sure sign that other cachers had been here recently - either we were all wrong, or I'd found the right place.

It was the right place, and the cache was mine soon after. I took a glitter glue and left a Mondo Man. Thanks Pprass for an enjoyable cache with a lovely walk.

Found by Mary & David at 1735. What a marvellous concept for a cache, and it gave us another milestone too! We enjoyed collecting the clues at the various local 'wineries' - Mary's Great Aunt Elizabeth Riddoch is credited with naming the location concerned at Question 1. We thought we spotted another caching team at Location 4, but they drove off just as we returned to our car. Worked out the final coordinates and headed off just as the heavens opened up. Sat in the car at our chosen car park till the downpour passed, then set off on foot. Found the cache soon enough in its clever disguise. Took thermometer fridge magnet, left a key ring. Our thanks again to pprass, and Mary says she'll drink to that. We'll be in touch about swapping vintages.

Maccamob was right in spying another cacher at location 4. We saw them waiting for the rain to clear near the final location. Rather than wait we went to the hardware store for some shopping. Came back and found the cache no worries. We had the maths for the final location wrong at first. The rain imposed delay gave us some time to reconsider how to multiply 2 numbers.

Great cache and a not so great day. TNLN and I'll pass on the wine swap too.

Thanks pprass.
