After yesterday's Father's Day Festivities, I dragged Cracker Dad out of bed much earlier than he would usually be to pick up a few of the Portland Caches before driving back to Melbourne. While collecting the information for Portland's Coastline Adventure Lab. I almost missed the answer to the adventure lab because I excited to find this cache in the first place and looked and the waves and light were picturesque against the yellow rock. Thankfully CrackerDad reminded me. Thanks for the cache Team Crackers (aka Parentals) for making me walk down the steps and get some great photos.

We looked for over 15 minutes, Muzza had found it before, but neither of us made the find today. Just a great muscle workout to and from.

Weve been to this beach before for the earthcache. That day there was some sort of surf competition going on so absolutely no chance to look for this one. Today we were the only ones there and eventually after quite a search we finally found the cache, yay!! TFTC

Day #3 of the adventure in Western Victoria. No changes to the itinerary today after going wildly off plan yesterday. Previous iterations included Millicent, no Millicent, Millicent and no Millicent again thanks to the archaic border rules. Today we are setting out to complete the GSWW and the CBWT GeoArt.

I visited this location twice. All the way down, all the way up, then all the way back down again and all the way back up again. The first journey was for the ad lab. The second was after realising there were two caches at the same waypoint that everyone else other than me had logged on a previous trip . I soon found the cache as the light was fading and signed the log.

Thanks Team Crackers for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

27-Oct-21
Suscoe headed out early this morning to enjoy some sea side and GSWW caching.
This was our first stop and what a delightful start to the day.
The wind was just picking up while we were here.
Well the steps lived up to their reputation but in the end were not as difficult as we thought that they might be.
A quick find once the levels were sorted.
Thanks to Team Crackers for this hide.
What a delightful location.

15-Aug-21
Lovely clear skies and gusty winds determined our sight seeing in the area today. We tried to avoid extended hikes after a big day yesterday. We couldn’t resist a Wooden Work cache along this rugged coastline and were rewarded with spectacular views.

Thank you for your cache and adding to our road trip memories in the area. A favourite from us.

Another golden oldie found this afternoon. Not without a bit of a mishap with eldest geodaughter taking a slip at the bottom of the first flight of steps, even with me holding hands for support! So with herself and Mrs P not wanting to go any further down I made the easy find on my own. Thx Team Crackers, nice size cache in another spectacular part of coastline.

In town for a few days for work, doing some training with the local Vicses team. It has been many years since I have visited Portland, but always enjoy my time here.
My may focus was the adventure labs in town but had sometime for this cache. Couldn't believe how steep the stairs are here.

Cheers for the cache Team Crackers

On a road trip to Western Victoria, picking up random caches as we check out the area. This was day 9 of the 16 day trip and we had now arrived in the Portland / Cape Bridgewater area. Today we took a trip to the Cape Nelson Lighthouse and returned along the coast road and stopped here on the way back to check out "Yellow Rock" and also find the cache. It was a long way down to the cache but it was an easy find as the cache was visible on approach as it was laying on top of all the undergrowth out in the open. We signed the log and replaced it where it was supposed to be. Mr Pooky then continued to the bottom and up onto yellow rock.
What a great little spot. TFTC.TNLN.

A family holiday to the south west! We arrived in Portland, set up camp and headed off to explore. We headed here hoping for some rock pools but alas the tide was in and it was a bit rough. Never mind we enjoyed the views and the kids still managed to get wet. An easy enough find on the way back up. Thanks for the cache and taking us to a stunning location.

02-Aug-20
Due to the new Covid 19 restrictions Geo Caching is not a reason to be out so we are disabling our caches untill safe to enable again.

This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 10452.

Thanks Team Crackers for the cache.

After a prolonged holiday out of the state it is time to get a maintenance program going and fix any problems.

Unfortunately we came here on a popular surfing day, we can say the container is still there so hope all is good inside. We will check next visit.

Happy Hunting.

Out and about for a day trip to Portland with Whyt Knight and our families. It was fun to relive a previous visit, but this location caught my eye as somewhere to stop and check out, which I had not taken the family to the last time I was here. On the way there, despite the girls needing a toilet, the hole in the ground on the way in was passed up as we reached the stairs. A steep walk to GZ, and a few laps of the structure, and a detour to collect the earth cache clues, and we soon had this one in hand. Nice to see this one live on for so many years. Enjoy this series with caches far and wide. tftc Team Crackers

Found on a girls day out caching with hevwalker, scramping and cabbos. Stairs are a nightmare for my knees and lungs but I made it. Always up for a challenge.
I even managed to get over and under to GZ and grab the cache.
Plenty of Wooden Work in this set of stairs

Wow what a view!!!! And wow what a lot of steps....hahaha.... great for my fitness or lack of maybe. On our girls caching day out hevwalker, 3LG and Cabbos enjoyed our time here. After a look around the cache was spotted from above... yes.... now to get it. 3LG came to the rescue....we had it in hand quickly, signed and replaced. We headed down to do the Earth Cache at the base of this long line of steps. Stunning views and beautiful area. TFTC

While staying in the area, geodaughter and I decided to discover some new places and caches. We found ourselves alone here, so we sat on the rocks and watched the waves pound below our feet. It was truly amazing! Oh, and we found the cache too! TFTC

03-Mar-18
I had in my head, that the wooden work series was a series of puzzle caches made from wood. I’m not sure why I thought a team that blows things up would also painstakingly create wooden geocaches. But it was my thought. (Don’t worry, I would much rather blow things up, perhaps we can work on a bomb like RoyMerc’s) Today, I was laughed at for quite some time by another geocacher for my assumption. I enjoyed the cache regardless of my pre-conceived ideas. TBH I’m now laughing at myself. Perhaps I can learn some woodwork and go around creating the “What I thought the wooden work series was” series. TFTC Team Crackers

Find 2871 on our family holiday to SE SA and SW VIC on the 18 January 2018

Day 4 saw us in the rageing heat so not much geocaching happened. We managed a few finds before 10:30am where we declared it too hot and retired to the beach for a cool swim.

This was our penultimate find due to the heat. A great spot to visit.

Found the cache in good condition after checking out the nearby earthcache. Big surf today. TFTC Team Crackers.

27-Apr-17
Climbed down all the steps, fortunately no problem with returning up them. Diligently reading the clue and trying a couple of spots found me the cache without a heap of difficulty. A group had just left the area, and there were no replacements on this cool windy day, which was very convenient. Then went down to the "beach" here - no one surfing, they'd have had to be crazy to do so with the weather conditions.

Unfortunately, we have already come back from this wonderful trip that made us know a land very different from our Italy.
Though it was not enough months to be able to visit it all in the twenty-five days at our disposal we tried to see it as much as possible.
With about 4500 kilometers in the car and seven domestic flights we did as humanly possible.
With the exception of Western Australia and ACT, we have touched all states, and in each of us we have had the pleasure of retrieving at least one cache.
We thank all the owners for making the trip even more special.
Earthcache and virtual cache answers will follow as soon as possible.

Found after an extended search.
After checking the clue... It was which platform and which left post?
In the end Mrs Riddell saved the day... The wild weather was starting to spit as well.
Then we proceeded to the earth cache.
We thought that this was just the most awesome lookout!!!

S 38° 23.271 E 141° 34.883

Coordinates changed to:
S 38° 23.276 E 141° 34.901

Distance from original: 91.1 feet or 27.8 meters.

As the steps to GZ and beyond have become unsafe and are now blocked off we have moved the container to a better location until we can make a new container and find a better hide.
We hope there was no inconvenience.

Found during a road trip to Portland and various areas in south-west Victoria with Papillon4506 & Geoturtle37.
2017 - The year of facing fears. This tested my heights fear slightly, but I managed it ok. I think I'm getting better with heights now.
Went straight to where we thought it would be, but no luck. Checked the hint. Not there either. Extended the search to a slightly different section and bingo! YAY!
Thanks for the cache and bringing us here today. Smile

12-Mar-17
Found on a long weekend geocaching road trip with Geoturtle37 and OzHockeyChic. This one has us going for a few minutes using the old clue until I homed in on gz, but it was all good in the end. I see that gz has been moved and updated now too. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

12-Mar-17
On logging this cache we see that the co-ords have been updated, so pleased that we did this one on the 12th, if we had left it any later we would have had the in correct co-ords. We understand why they have been changed. We spent some time talking to a local surfer and he believes that the outer platform may not be replaced as the cliff face above it is coming away and at some point in the future will slip.
The cache is in good condition. SL TFthe walk down the stairs and back up again LOL

Found by The Empire and Sully
In Portland for the 8 Months to the event in Alexandra event. Time to spend the afternoon caching, it was a little wet - but that didn't stop us much! Steps, oh the steps! Quickly found after some log reading... Thanks for the cache Team Crackers.

11-Mar-17
Found with The Empire on our afternoon assault of Portland and surrounds. We came across some magnificent sights and views today, was well worth the drive down from Ballarat. The Empire soon had his hands on this one, we added our names to the log and were on our way again. Thanks to Team Crackers for another in the Wooden Work Series.

05-Mar-17
Two things came to mind as we walked towards GZ: the superb views and that we would have to walk up all those steps to get back to the car. We were thankful for accurate coordinates as the hint is no longer relevant. The lower sets of steps have fallen away and the access to the area below the platform has been stopped. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Team Crackers for the cache.

15-Feb-17
We found ourselves with a three day break to play with, so we seized the day and made our way to Portland for a couple of nights.

This location was magnificent, and the wooden work was very impressive too. Some of the steps are leaning a bit, making us feel we were leaning sideways for a short section - very funny. It appears that the structure is under some sort of rebuilding or renovation plan, and there is now a new way down to the bottom, which makes the original cache placement off the beaten track, so to speak. We have discussed this with the CO so they are aware. Cache is in good condition though, and was being guarded by a lovely large skink when we visited. We also enjoyed the geological feature at the bottom.

Thank you Team Crackers for bringing us to yet another fantastic place on this coast. Another fave from us.

24-Jan-17
Found it down the steps where you're not supposed to go at the moment due to unstable cliffs and the clue makes no sense at all. This cache may need to be shifted.

Photo log as pen does not work.

Despite the access being closed to the beach and partly to the cache, obviously you can still find it.

Really annoying to see people not using both sides of the log paper.

On a road trip from the ACT thru northern Victoria, to South Australia then back through Victoria (great Ocean road) and caching along the way. Whatever cache we happened to pass and I was in the mood we stopped to find and log. Some easier some harder:-) TFTC
Ok,this cache is on a path that is closed off to the public due to unstable cliffs. I ventured within the GZ found cache and scurried off. Thanks

Day 2 in Portland, did some sightseeing and grabbed a few caches on the way.

Gee - these are wooden works - they go on and on.
Once again, geo-wife drew the short straw, due to geo-hubby's bad knee.

A sunny day, with big waves crashing in, made an amazing view.
Cache was located after a short search, signed and replaced as found.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Team Crackers, for us and others to find.

In the area visiting family, so will take the opportunity to grab a cache or 2. Grabbed this cache with Snap Happy. It was interesting to see were the errosion has collapsed the cliff face further along but this cache was safe and sound, well before any fenced off area. A quick find was made and then we enjoyed the view. Now back up all the steps. Razz
Thanks Team Crackers for placing & maintaining the cache for us to find.

We have been quite busy with work this time of year and will have no time to visit until after Australia day.
We will try and get there in the next couple of weeks to see what is happening with the stairs.
