Today I had the pleasure of my Dads company who wanted to come join me caching and to go for a solid walk. Having not been to Ravensbourne for many years I thought it would be fun to grab a couple of caches and to enjoy the sights while having a good walk and yarn. A solid walk up the hill to get the heart rate going and made the find rather quickly. The cache was soaked so we tipped out some water and tried to dry things best as possible. The lock is broken. A really fun cache and always enjoyable to find an oldie. Thanks for placing this cache.
3/8/2024 Find #7109This morning I met up with KBreeAHH, Captain Terror and ozbeancounter for a hike out this way for an older cache. With that complete, we all headed our separate ways. Now I couldve called it a day and headed towards home at this stage but there were two more old caches out here that were calling to me to grab them before I left. This was the final cache of the day. I parked the car a little before the start of the uphill, about 600 metres from the cache, ready to put myself through a bit more physical for the day. I grabbed my hiking pole and began the ascent, glad it was me making the efforts rather than the car, especially with some of the ruts along the way. Finally I was up the top and making my way a little quicker and easier towards GZ. At the radio tower I instantly saw the location I needed to head to and soon had cache in hand. Sad to say it was very full of water. Thankfully Flutterby Beryls log paper was signable and dry, so I tipped out all the standing water before returning the log paper safely, bagged separately from the rest. Then I headed carefully back to the car and on my way finally back towards home. Thanks for the cache just travelling.
Out and about with FlutterBeryl and TBUBIKESU for more smiles.Found the cache on 28/6/24 and signed the log.Tftc just travelling
After finding a similar date close by, TBU twist my arm by find this one as well.Cache is in poor condition so we set about maintenance as best we could, place the old log book in one bag, the new log book in another. Then place both into a peanut butter container (clean and food free).Placed some small swaps with the cache.I hope this will last the rest of time.Tftc
We were on a short trip from Queensland towards Sydney and back chasing mainly oldies. This was one of them.We enjoyed the views whilst approaching GZ, found the cache , assisted at the maintenance. That involved one of us going downhill and up again for an extra container which we put inside the old one, and added and signed a new logsheet. So the cache is ready for the next finder.Tftc just travelling
Tftc. Was an enjoyable find whilst out on the bikes. Unfortunately wasnt able to log physical cache due to water in the cache. Drained the cache but wasnt carrying spare paper to replace soaked booklet. Will require attention
Not sure who did this as we are the first visitors in 6 months but we found the log and container on a nearby tree stump drying in the sun signed returned per the hint tftc
I drove up here which was interesting after the recent rains. I found the cache. A new container is required. It was full of water and the contents were mostly destroyed. The log book was double bagged and okay though. I dried out the bags and signed. I removed the contents and sat the bagged log book on some wood inside the container so it won’t be sitting in water after the next rainy day.
Thanks for the cache.
Cheers

Following on from the neighbouring cache in this area, we decided to do the entire walking loop. We took an anticlockwise approach and after a short clamber up a steep hill arrived to a flat area where we walked another 400 m also to the Hide.
Lots of Lantana around the hide, but we soon heard this familiar sound of metal and within moments had this large container opened.
It was now latish in the afternoon, and so we decided to walk as quickly as possible on the return trip to be back at the car before dark.
A great day out and some lovely walks in this area today

After grabbing another nearby cache I continued my drive to this one. I enjoyed the drive in to this one and there's a great little hill climb to play on before continueing to my goal. The last section to the tower was pretty washed out after the recent rain but didn't cause any problems and I was soon parked near GZ.
To my surprise I saw the cache sitting on top of the large stump near the fence. Opening in up the container was nearly full of water but thankfully the last finder had actually done up the clip locl bag and the log was dry.
I emptied the water out but there wasn't much I could do for the wet contents. I replaced the log and then returned the cache to where the hint indicates.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for me and others to enjoy.
A FP from me for a great adventure and for keeping this old one alive.

Brahms6 found this one whilst on a group hike. Grabbed the travel Bug to move on.a nice walk up to the cache. TFTC
Having found Blackbean and realised my lack of prep was starting to be an issue I started to read the description on the way back to the car.... those directions seem very familiar... oh... that’s what you want me to do...
So as instructed I walked over from Blackbean (doing the anti-clockwise circuit)
I even managed to do do “that” bit without stopping, much to my surprise...
Thankfully the cache was a quick find... I don’t think I’ve seen a log book with so many “accidental” finds recorded... I particularly liked the entry about drinking warm shiraz... it made me laugh...
Water has gained entry, so I replaced the snap lock bag and added some silica to help with the damp... tftc... left Red Stripe Tb to carry on...

Tftc - we were originally was going to skip this one due to the hiking time, but ended up getting nice and close in the Geo4wd!
This cache has been on the list for a while due to its age, today I had a few hours up my sleeve so I decided to head out here, the only thing that was going to put a spanner in the works would be the weather. With some rain recently I wasn’t sure what condition the roads would be in.
Thankfully, as I finished work the rain had held off so I made my way north. After finding blackbean grove I continued along the road and found myself at the bottom of a very steep and rough looking hill! This is the way the gps was pointing so I pulled up and started walking!
I should have read previous logs better that said if you kept going to the right there’s a driveable track option to GZ!
Oh well. It wasn’t too bad of a walk and it counted for my exercise for the day! It was a quick find once at GZ and happy to have another oldie under the belt. The log book was damp but still signable. Nice to be on top of Toowoomba.

The loud hum of the tower plus all the radiation signs made me not want to hang around but it was nice to know I was standing on the highest point in Toowoomba. Thanks for the cache
Great cache!
Had water in, yet we managed to dry it.
Visited during our road trip around Toowoomba and up nord. Very happy to be on the summit of Mt Perseverance as we could see this mountain from the distance so many times!

Loving the peace and tranquility of a random remote rainforest. Out with my plus one, oz_bean_counter, getting away from humans. After an earlier serious hike, we took Suzee in along this bush track to check out a couple of Q500 oldies. Suzee did the hard yards getting us here - but apart from bushes growing onto the track making it very narrow, the only time she needed grunt-mode was right at the end. Such a gorgeous, peaceful, pocket of national park.
I have attempted this cache from the other side once before - and lost confidence in the track a long way short of GZ. Coming in from Blackbean Grove is indeed the right approach. A great spot to find, and no worries with the cache (although the container doesn't exactly close tight anymore).
Thanks just travelling for entertaining me at this location.

Socially distant caching at it's best today!
Headed out with PPrime at the ungodly hour of 5 am and headed out to Ravensbourne. The weather was stunning and the company equally welcomed.
This was the eighth cache of nine for the day. The hike up and down to the falls was a real highlight. This is a truly beautiful part of south east Queensland and well worth a visit. After appreciating both the falls and the lookout, we headed this way to attempt another of Queensland's oldest 500 caches.
Locating GZ took some effort as the track to leave the road is not well sign posted, and almost appears to be a private driveway (take the right fork!). I was delighted that the national park road was not locked and we could drive right to GZ. I recommend starting with 'Blackbean Grove' and driving around from there. A 2WD could take you most of the way, but a 4WD is required for the last few hundred meters.
At GZ, the cache was quickly located. Unfortunately this ammo can is slightly warped and no longer closes properly. The cache was slightly damp inside, but the log is dry and good to go . Delighted to sign off another of Queensland's oldest 500 caches.

Definitely took the road less traveled to get to this one. We made the find and as we went to sign the heavens opened and the temperature dropped ten degrees as water began to fall from the sky.
We beat a hasty retreat to the Grand gCAV; think this will be our last cache for the day.

Out hunting a few oldie caches for a personal challenge, and today I have been bouncing around Ipswich shire, and having reached Gatton and the day still young I made a poor decision. This one was not part of my plans, but being not too far away I thought - why not? Put in the coords to the car navigator which promptly said an hour or so driving, and it's on the side of the road at the end. Sweet - off I went.
After about an hour of driving I was some 10kms from GZ, and the road was .... no longer a road. Oh, I said, I needed to be on that other road over the other side? And promptly headed off. I am now in Hampton. I am 90 minutes away from my next planned cache location ... and I finally read the description. This is no drive by. I will not be getting there today. This one needs actual planning. Planning. Something I am somewhat famous for, and by not doing so I have epically failed.
Tail between my legs, I turned the car around and drove to Boonah. I shall be back though, count on it, I shall however plan that trip.

Today we decided to go towards Crows Nest for some Caching. We got side tracked and ended up out here. The Subaru had no problems taking the right track but the left track looked a little rough. We parked 100m from cache This one is in good condition after 14 years!!! good view along where the power lines go
Great drive through the forest for this cache but had to park up and walk up the last 100 meters to the tower - obviously some heavy earth mover had been working there and made it impossible to drive up. Cache was exactly as the hint said. TFTC just travelling
We came for a drive, bushwalk and a picnic lunch... and to find a cache or two.
Found cache in good condition.
Thank you for the cache.

Forgot to log this last weekend (today 5Nov)followed the road up to the incline...... nope not going up there, let's try the other way. Took the road around to the other side for the short walk up the hill. One of the geokids made the climb more gruelling than it needed to be (chock full of whinging) made the find signed log and replaced. Someone has placed a bottle of water in the cache for the hiker, nice thought. Tftc
Just one more.
Another weekend up here with T-Tech and IolantheK. We managed to round up a few caches that we missed last time due to the wet weather.
Once again we piled in to T-Tech's geomobile to tackle this one. It was much drier out here and we were hopeful that we would get to GZ.
We got to the same spot as last time and the hill still looked like a challenge. Then IolantheK said the GPSr had a track around.
Sure enough a recently grade track wound around the steep hill and up to the tower. [^]
A nice quick find at GZ too.

Up from Brisbane for a over night at Crows nest National park with IolantheK. We joined up with teamdfl and Brother Colin to tackle the caches in this area
This cache had eluded us last time we were in the area, roads had bee slippery and our maps made it look like an extremely steep vehicle assent was required but with the additional help of BC we found the elusive track to GZ

T-Tech and I camped last night with teamdfl and Brother Colin at Falls Campground, and this morning we took the walk to gather the caches in this area. This afternoon we headed out to Hampton to tackle this cache again.
Well, it was a lot simpler than we had realised. If only we had looked at the map a little closer last time, we'd have found the right way. Today teamdfl's GPSr had the right track marked and we followed it to within a few meters of GZ! I very speedily had the cache in hand. TFTC, just travelling.

What a great cache! Tried to find the other one at the start of our walk but couldn't spot it so will try again when we get back. Signed log, TSLS TFTC!
With the decision made not to walk too far today this one did not make it to a find. We got close - 800m or so, but the track up the power lines looked way too slick to try. Another day maybe.
Day 2 of my camping weekend at Crows Nest T-Tech, teamdfl and I had planned to walk out to Koonin Lookout today, but the drizzle yesterday has turned into rain today and we had to change our plans We visited Haden, Goombungee, Geham and Cabarlah then headed east for some dirt roads.
We made 2 attempts at this one today: first from the south, and we got to about 1km from GZ, but the rain had made the track under the power lines very slippery, and we didn't like to take the risk; and second from the parking spot for the other cache, but we didn't have the time to take the long walk.
We shall return!

There has been an awful lot of culling of trees and land here with new cables being put in above. We were able to drive right up to it in our 4WD and parked right beside. It was a rough road but certainly not unachievable.
I'd be watching if it will stay or be found soon.
Loved it

It is rare I worry about being in the bush alone, but I spotted evidence of wild pigs and wild dogs in the area soon after leaving. Add to that warning signs we'd seen a while back alongside the road. I'm very 'whatever' about seeing snakes and such, but pigs and pooches would be a different story. I kept a good ear out the whole way and had no issues. I arrived at the foot of the slope and up I went. There would be very few vehichles able to drive up this, and I'd hate to be in them. I suspect even superglue would have issues finding the traction on this steep, dusty, dry slope. But at the top I took a breather and admired that view!
The top of the ridge was easy going, but again worrisome as the lantana was close to the 4WD tracks and about 12 feet high. I was ready with a walking stick as the world's lamest weapon if anything tried to eat me! Getting closer I could hear a freshwater spring (maybe) in the sticks just before the tower came into view. Lovely - getting very close. A few moments later I'm taking a swig at the base of the tower and reading the hint. A quick find was then made and I retired to a stump to check out the contents. All in good condition here. I replaced as found and had a glance down the track heading east - probably driveable as an Option C, assuming no gates and the track farther on is even passable in your vehicle of choice.
Now all was left was the walk back. I was quicker getting back along the ridge and sliding most of the way down the slope. I returned to the car very sweaty, rather hot, but happy about finally making the find. It sucks the original track isn't really doable, but I feel I suffered appropriately getting to this one 'the other way'. Having done these couple I really wanted, we've now got a lengthy drive ahead of us. Thanks for this geocache, just travelling

There is only a handful of times that I've driven the Esk-Hampton Road and noticed these two icons not too far away. Though, with time constraints normally, it took this specially planned route to drive out and do the walk to find them. Planning to be at the Bunya Mountains for New Years, I decided against the lengthy dog legs through either Toowoomba or Esk and found on the map a route from Helidon to Ravensbourne via Seventeen Mile Rd. Net88 and I would hopefully get through on that road, find these two geocaches and continue on to Maidenwell to get up to the mountains.
All of this was spurred by Radio Ga Ga and Blackbean Grove being fairly out of the way for me and the eighth and ninth oldest unfound geocaches within 250km of my home. Such things are high on my priority list for geocaching. The drive through Seventeen Mile was not only done, but it was quite enjoyable. The Subaru had no issues as the dirt road is evidently well maintained and wide enough for two vehicles to safely pass each other most of the way. At the Northern End I recognised the road and immediately placed us near Raven Caven and Good One Gus. Ohh! I didn't realise we'd wind up here. So there was a compulsory stop at the lookout and a ponder at if we should take the '4WD Only' road.
Knowing we had to visit Blackbean Grove first, we wound up following the 2WD option to get to the National Park Road. That little bit of navigating was logical and the roads in good condition. Not to mention some ripper views to the west as we rolled along the rural area. As there was a walk required for this one, I put a lot of research into getting there. Ideally there is the 7.5 kilometre 'Mount Perseverence Circuit' as outlined in my bushwalking guide. But when we got to Blackbean Grove, the start of said circuit, there was no walking anywhere in there. The whole area is fifty shades of overgrown lantana. We'd have to resort to Option B and hopefully not get to Option C or D. The latter being 'give up, come back another day'.
Our second choice was to check out what others had said about the gate on Perseverence Trig Road, a short drive away. The third option involved a huge backtrack and some dubious tracks. The gate was quickly found and again, very overgrown. That was not going to happen at all! But nearby I spotted the very offroad track underneath the powerlines which supply the tower with power. It looked steep, hot and a bit overgrown, but doable. net wasn't keen, but I donned my camelback and GPSr and set off.

Not long now until Geodaughter is off to school camp for 5 weeks so in preparation I took her out this morning for a hike to get her used to things. Not a lot of enthusiasm on her part but we headed off taking the directions offered by the CO, following the anti clockwise direction. To avoid recriminations later on I did inform my daughter before we started that there was a shorter way, so that didn't boost the enthusiasm levels at all. It was a good walk though, and a good opportunity to point out examples of some of the lovelies that inhabit this type of environment - Gympie Gympie, stinging nettles and lantana as well as some wild pig diggings. We paused at the first gate at the top road and geodaughter expressed relief that we didn't have to climb up that steep slope - that was until the track at the second gate took us right to the bottom of the same steep slope. The look on her face was priceless. In the end it wasn't as bad as she thought and we were soon standing at GZ. While geodaughter admired a leech doing his hunting dance nearby I had a bit of a hunt myself and quickly turned up the cache. Good to see it have another visit after 8 month's loneliness. All up it was 8.1km and just over 2 hours. TFTC
On a mission with MissLill to find some caches and take her new car for a spin, we came here. Hmmm walk up the big hill or take a risk on the path to the right?? We took the chance as it is sweltering hot and yay!! After moving a few logs out of the way, we did it! Log signed and now for the pretty scenic route back down!! Tftc
Found it! First day out in the new geomobile AWD. Angloj and I thought we would test it out a bit! Didn't take the track straight up though! We drove around and had to move a few little logs here and there. We had to break off lots of little scratchy branches though to protect the new geomobile. Such a beautiful area and so high up!! TFTC!
Happy New Year! While most people enjoy a sleep in on New Years Day, we were up and exploring to add a few more caches to the tally sheet. [|)]
Mrs Esky set the agenda for the day, and we started with this one. After the hill climb - on foot - I could not imagine driving up or down this, we located GZ and the cache with relative ease. A pleasant way to start the day and the year with a walk in the bush! TFTC!

First finder for the New Year!!
We had a few unloved caches on the radar today and decided to tackle this one while it was cool. Off loaded the kids to the Grandies on the way and enjoyed a pleasant drive through country...hurt your eyes green after the recent rain...just beautiful. Pulled up at the National Park sign with 800+m to GZ. Saw the narrow track and obstacle ahead and decided to leg it from there. We took the direct route up the hill and admired the narrow view from the top. Was a little nervous about the healthy looking lantana bordering and at places trying to encroach on the road but was relieved to spot a clear way to the cache on approaching GZ. All is good with this one. TFTC.
We decided to headed out to grab a few caches and explore some of the local NPs, a possible 10 was on the list but at the end of the day we had only found 4 and 4 great caches they were!
I had visited here a week or two ago on my own to grab a couple of the other caches nearby but had run out of time to grab this one. So I am back to grab this one with a driver as well we pulled up 500m shy of the cache and decided to walk to rest of the way - we walked the long way around and didn't go straight up the hill (The geokid did that after we got back to the geomobile on his own). Was a nice little walk around almost circling the cache!. When we got near to GZ I was thinking here comes the lantana but I was nicely surprised when there was very little to battle. The cache was found nice and easily and in great condition. TFTC just travelling

High time this cache had a visitor.
On our way to Toowoomba today with a few stops for caches along the way.
We came dressed and armed for lantana today - long pants, long sleeves and bush bashing implement. As it turned out it wasn't as overgrown as we had expected.
We took the lazy way and drove almost to GZ. The narrow dirt road was quite good even after last weeks rain and we managed it in our 2WD no problem.
Thanks to the good hint the cache was an easy find. Cache in great condition. Our geohound sniffed out the tennis ball in the cache and wasn't giving that up for anyone. .
Thanks for the cache just travelling.

This was our second and last fort the day. We now find ourselves having to travel further and further to make a find as the ones close to home are all but gone. The track took us right to the top of the hill and pretty close to GZ. Then the real fun began, lantana as far as the eye can see and we had to go in to make the find. With a couple of scratches the deed was done. We took the "Demonic Duckie" TB.
Cheers

Out and about to get my one cache for the day.
I was able to get my 2WD vehicle to within 5m of the cache. Then the fun started.
I do not like lantana and am happy to bash away at it or even remove it if I can. So I followed the GPSr and went behind the big tree and bashed my way towards GZ.........without finding a cache but did bash a lot of lantana. Back to the car to read the hint. O, a small log. Opps. A lot of lantana got bashed as I went right past the cache.
The TB is there but I did not grab it. Thanks for the cache. It is dry and in good condition.

After reading the previous logs, we were all set to walk to this one, but as we got closer we kept thinking "The geomobile should be right in this" and so we continued. Got us right up to the GZ without a worry. After inspection of the GZ all I could say was 'ye gods! That's a lot of bloody lantana' Found the cache without too much worry, but did require me lying on my guts and half crawling to get it. Left the Demonic Ducky TB for the next traveller. TFTC just travelling!
This one popped on my radar and I read the description with interest. Deja vu? It then dawned on me the approach for this cache was the same as the previous one. I could not leave the car where I parked it - it was blocking the track. I moved the car back to the main road and then legged it back in and followed the directions on the cache page.
This certainly is a beautiful forest - it reminded me of Bellthorpe forest quite a bit. The lantana was starting to grow over the track - but a trusty walking pole soon fixes that. I whacked my way out and proceeded up toward GZ. I really took a wrong turn here somewhere - I must have misread the directions. I ended up going past GZ! Back up to the top and had a breather.
Now, where is this cache. My GPSr pointed to the most evil and thick lantana known to man. Hmmm well it has been over 2 years since it was found
Whack! Whack! Whack! It took a fair bit clearing to even look at GZ. I peered in. I think I see it! I hooked it with my walking pole.. JOY! The cache! 2 years, 2 months, and 8 days between finds. I was very happy to sign that logbook. The cahce is in great condition. I re-hid the logbook and slogged it back the way I came (better the devil I know).
I enjoyed this cache a lot - but I do think it is worthy of terrain rating of about 3 - especially given the distance covered. TFTC just travelling.. happy to have the smiley

Entered into the book of LEDGIN'S. A late afternoon drive around this area with Speedmistess. We took the easier way to get here avoiding the steep track. It's been a while since the last visit but cache is in good condition. TNLN. Thanks just travelling.
Speedmistress triumphs. Great 2WD drive to the cache however there was a little mud and wet dirt road to get there that would have made it unpassable to a low vehicle. In company of LEDGINS my ole caching mate. Pity someone does not kill off the Lantana in this area. TFTC. TNLN
We weren't originally planning on looking for this one. We were trying to find a road from "Under Train" to "Good One Gus" when we saw this pop up on the radar!
We kept trying roads that seemed to head in the right direction until we found ourselves at the bottom of a steep overgrown track that took us to within a couple of metres of GZ.
Mrs Steve grabbed the cache while Steve was still fumbling with the gadgets trying to download some cache notes. Mrs Steve won and had the cache in hand quickly!
It'a always amazing to see such pieces of technology in such rugged locations! Wingaap has a cache hidden at a similar facility along the Mt Mee 4WD trails.
Contents dry and in good condition. We replaced the cache, and headed off in search of a way to Good One Gus. Thanks for the cache, thoroughly enjoyed it!

Found on tour with OMY130. Had a great drive up to the tower and soon found the cache. Nice peacefull spot. Thanks.
Found on a Saturday Cruise with X&S... Great spot, really quiet. Having not reading the notes beforehand, we didn't walk at all as we were able to park within 2mts of cache. Gate at bottom of hill wasn't locked. Lucky us....

Found at 0130pm today. Walked in following the instructions from as close as possible to the suggested car park Co Ordinates. I made a conscious decision to take the round trip walk as I am trying to lose weight through exercise. I was also aware that there was a much closer access point near where the power line goes up the hill to the tower and near the almost permanent, temporary sawmill that is adjacent to the track that comes out onto the road close to the second gate, which is not locked at the moment. Arrived at GZ and did not take too long to locate cache. Took DVD cases and left ball. TFTC. Did this one after finding Blackbean Grove. Thought not bad for a mid fifties young old fella.

Quite a hike to the summit, walk was boggy and steep in places, but a nice hike nonetheless.

Found it.
That was the easy part.
I took the full circuit walk from Blackbean grove. It's a good walk through some great forest and if done as directed it's not to strenuous.
I traveled to Blackbean Grove from the Gus Beutel lookout along the "dry weather only road". It was dry for the first 200m or so but apparently there was a storm out that way last night. To say the ride was exciting would be an understatement. A couple of vehicles had been through before me and the surface was deeply rutted and slippery. Very lucky we were I think. I'd been through here before when the road was dry and it was perfectly good but I won't be doing that again. It was definitely not suitable for my little 2wd ute.
The rest of the journey was pretty ordinary after that.
The cache is dry and in good condition.

Thanks for the cache

Wow, what a trip, and all this to find a geocache...
Found a bike trail, parked nearby, and followed along the power lines. The trail split into a wide track or same trail steeply uphill. Decided to go for the easy option and follow the track. A hundred metres or so in, I heard a noise to my left - and saw the largest snake I have ever seen, just moving away from me. I stopped, and it stopped. Grabbed the camera and took a photo, and remembered the spot for my return trip.
Made it up to the tower, and tried to follow instructions in the hint ... unfortunately my path was blocked by 2m of lantana, and no other way in. With shorts and short sleeves and no gloves I had no other option but to step on the lantana and "trample" it down... after 20min of this activity, I finally reached the cache container. I'm sorry about the wide geotrail I had to create - I'm sure it'll grow back very quickly!
Heard another snake to my left when I walked back (watching every stick and anything that moved anxiously), but I think it was the one I had seen earlier, that had moved on...

We tried to follow the instructions given in the cache sheet but somehow ended up on a no through road which was heading in the direction we wanted to go so "the driver" decided there was no turning back. Road conditions deteriorated and we found ourselves engaging 4wd as we traversed down a muddy track with water flowing freely in the washed out ruts. Kept going and the track reappeared in better condition. Got to a T junction and decided to try and get as close as possible to the cache which we succeeded in doing. It was pouring by this stage and there was still 800m to the cache. Bruce took off with the uhf radio so he could keep me informed on his progress. About 35 minutes later he was back at the car and rather pleased with himself and totally soaked. TNLN. Thanks for the experience. The cache is in good and dry condition.
After driving for quite a few Ks on unsealed and VERY dusty roads in my Astra I found what looked to be an access track leading to the top of the hill (to what I resumed to be a radio repeater of some sort). It appeared to be a motorbike-only track.
Walked about 1/2 way up and then realised just how steep it was. There was no way one could walk up -*THAT*- incline.
Like the other cache in the area I only had the WP co-ordinates, not the cache page. When I got back home GoogleEarth showed how close I was to finding this!
The car needed a very thorough wash (with tank water!!) once I got back home!

Found today after doing "Blackbean Grove" on our way home from camping at Crows Nest. Maryan found the cache as I blundered around in the scrub.... she said that it took a "girl look" to find it Took and left nothing but enjoyed the walk. Thanks for the cache. Andrew and Maryan.
Wow what a cool stroll through the forest to find the fortress next to the cache
Finding the cache was a bit of fun too. Not exactly in the obvious spot (according to the clues) [^]
Still a wonderful experience walking the seven or so kilometres strolled around the loop
Bonus, NO trailbikes today

Wow! This cache had not been found for 9 months and we reckoned it was high time it was found again.
We got lucky on this one and saved ourselves a long and arduous walk - we found a new parking spot that was only 18 metres from the cache
The cache is in great condition and is full of great swaps.
IN: waterbottle
OUT: mouse pad
Thanks to just tracelling for a fantastic cache experience.

Found on ANZAC Day. Was a good day for a walk so decided to have a go at this one which I had been sitting on for a while.
Commenced my caching from the suggested Geomobile 4WD coords and followed that route. Coords and directions were accurate. Only saw 3 trail bikes who showed some consideration and slowed down to reduce the dust - good on them.
T: Gecko
L: Briefcase calculator
Also liberated the Rollcage Mouse TB - will relocate somewhere soon.
Thanks for an interesting cache location.

This was a pretty nice walk... I'm very favourable towards circuit walks, and this was a good one. Decided to do it as-intended - from the "correct" starting location. A nice, fairly easy, hike. Took the "first gate" once on the road, and you *almost* get some reasonable views hiking up the slope.
One thing that gave me the irits, was the almost constant stream of motorcycles / quads roaring through the park... [:(!] How did this happen? They've got a rather nice circuit mapped out, and they don't mind roaring past at a good rate of knots. Tranquility destroyed.
Anyways, coords were spot on. Took the CD, left a metal Cummins badge, and rollcage mouse TB.

09:30 am After a quick walk up the simple rocky road!! We foud the cache fairly quicky..It seems they have been doing a lot of maintaince in the area, lawns nicely mowed and the perimeter all whipper snipped!!! Going to have to comeback here as well!!
Just a maintenance visit to check that the cache is still there. All is okay. There are now two distinct tracks to the summit, the second one is the intended one but both will get you there. I will add a bit more detail to the hint.
Didn't find the cache even though i know it should be there
With lots of motorbike trails in the area hopefully they have not muggled the cache.
To encourage more people to visit this cache, it should noted that the walk is only 800m ATCF if parking at the following location:
S27 24.786
E152 09.173
Here you find the locked gates to the vehicle track leading to the top of the mountain. An easy 15 minute walk, even with kid/s
It seems there has been some storm activity over time and has knocked limbs and leaves down, though after reading the hint, it may still be possible to find the cache. I intend heading back there in the next week, time permitting, to conquer the cache.
Thanks for the area, especially when considering it is the highest mountain in the region and is really a pleasant stroll to get to the top.

Congratulations, Hoffa, on your first cache find and a virgin cache at that! As well, you're the first to find one of my caches! Good luck caching and I hope you find many more.
This was the first cache I found (not the first I looked for, I must admit). The coordinates I found to be good and the hint definitely helped at the end. The cache is still in good condition.
Thanks for showing me a great place to go for a MTB ride.
Thanks for showing me a great place to go for a MTB ride.
I'll back "Just Travelling" on this, it is a state forest access road. The problem is some people thing they own the forestry roads that access them. There is no troubles with right of way on this cache as its be well documented in hiking books.
Re: Ignoring the 'Private - Keep Out' sign.
Do you have permission from the landowner for this?
Do you have permission from the landowner for this?
Yes, it is actually Ravenbourne State Forest. You only have to drive down this road (goat track) a couple of hundred metres till you get to the gateway. This walk is one of many described in a book of bushwalks in the Toowoomba region.
