Nice beach, shame about the stench from the rotting seaweed. Quiet location and a rough as track in from town .tftc
What was to have been a quick weekend trip to Melbourne to accompany leafotwind on his 3,000th cache find (since I had also recently completed the Victorian Premiers whereigo ) became an 8 day trip because there was a CITO [^] at Traralgon the next day which then led to Mallacoota and the Snowy Mountain Highway [^] since I couldn't legally use the Great Alpine Road as I didn't have snow chains because the boring freeway back to Melbourne and then back to Shepparton didn't sound like fun
The first day, I met my sister in Bendigo as she waited for her semi to be unloaded and reloaded, so we went op shopping in the meantime[:X] From there it was off to Melbourne and the group find of the Victorian Premiers whereigo which had taken me to many spots in Victoria [^] Then the group slogged our way up a slippery, muddy slope [|)][xx(] to get a couple of simple drive by 4 x 4 caches (when the tracks are open) before caching on into the night
I made a find on a previous DNF at Moe then it was off to Clean Up a Creek at Traralgon [^] followed by finding some bloody good caches (both containers and reasons for placement) around the area with leafotwind, NoWorries andAlphaDeltaIndigo [:X], chatting to Crisp image as the group found Wherever I Lay My Hat before Rex and I left the group, walking in the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve at dusk[^], seeing a huge Dr21 dredger once used for coal mining and now placed at Morwell, finding a tiny grave in the middle of a shopping area , finding my 1st 3D printed cache container and then it was off to the Lakes Entrance area and wandering out on the peninsula[^]
Seeing old RAAF airfields and radio bunkers, seeing tiny country towns and meeting some great people (including an almost muggle woman and her children in Mallacoota where she had previously looked for 1 cache and who may now get into geocaching properly [^]), seeing the sun rise while surrounded by kangaroos and standing on the eastern coast of Vic and chatting with Rollmatrix throughout my time in Mallacoota and Genoa
Spending a few hours chatting with a lovely truckie, Michael [:X], who was on a wood chip run to Canberra as we traversed the countryside in the dark (after I had apologised for slowing down his fully laden rig as Harry crawled his way up a hill ) then I pulled into Cooma for a break and an EC and also found a cache, Southern Cloud, about the aircraft accident and then accidentally ended up at another memorial cache, Southern Comfort, Southern Cloud or Southern Storm, later on in the trip
Seeing brumbies amongst the snow along the edge of the road at night in the mountains in NSW [^], seeing a thermal pool early in the morning with steam rising from it in the cold air and water plants growing up from the sandy bottom [^], seeing the grave of the alleged Man from Snowy River while finding the multi The Man from Snowy River - HCPPP [^] and then chatting to SciFiRulz who I managed to sneak in a quick visit with before heading home and finding The Highest Railway Station on the way
Over the 8 days there was 9 DNFs (although I did manage to find a few on my 2nd attempts ), 1 CITO event attended and a total of 111 cache finds including 3 FTFs
As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

Thank you for bringing us to this location. We took your advice and had a sausage sizzle at the campground prior to seeking the cache. This is just the type of search we enjoy. The actual cache took us a while to find with hubby finally coming up trumps. TFTC
Found it this morning with my mate Alex (muggle) the road could do with a little maintenance......a grader would be ideal. Not much activity at this one as it is a bit off the beaten track tftc

#274. Cache in good nick given the time it has been sitting idle. Found relatively easily once we'd checked the clue. Thanks for bringing us to this pretty spot. TNLNSL.
Visiting Mallacoota for the long weekend and we checked out Shipwreck Creek for the first time, looked like a nice spot to camp. Went for a walk but the creek was running well so took a bit to cross. TFTC
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which is to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota (where we are at present), Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
We weren't sure whether we were just before or just after hide tide on arriving at the beach, so we made a quick dash towards Ground Zero. It was a nice quick find once at the correct end of the beach, and so with log book signed we didn't hang around too long before we made our way back again. Thanks so much for the cache and for having bought us to this lovely empty beach with its crashing waves.

Lovely morning at Shipwreck Creek, exploring over and around the rocky outcrops, one of my favourite little spots.

This cache has been on our radar for many years, at one time it was the only cache in a 150km radius we hadn't found. We tried twice to get it, and from two different directions, both times being stopped by closed gates as it was the wrong time of year and if we had tried it tomorrow we would have lucked out again as the fun run is on and the road is being closed. Luck was with us and today we FINALLY did it! And in style as the grader had just been through so it was an easy drive in to this awesome spot. Top feeling to get to sign the log so we're giving this one a favourite. Thanks for showing us this great area. Tftc
This was a nice casual drive to end our cache afternoon and the walk was also peaceful
Took some searching and cache found and built our own rock totem as well

While in the area we picked this cache up. A great walk to the beach, tide was in a bit, but managed to skirt around the edge of the beach.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Hmm there were two containers here. A metal one and a fruit container. They were strewn in the bushes. We put both under a tick in what we thought was the correct place.
First geocache found, it was discovered during a camping trip in Croajingolong. Took out a toy car and put in a pair of "slightly used" raybans
What an adventure we had finding this one. Had to carry three small kids across the mouth of the creek. TFTC. Days like this is why we do this.
We really enjoyed the walk here in a beautiful day. But I'm glad Mr Boobook was with me to grab the cache:)
Previously marked this this cache as needs maintenance however as it doesn't allow me to edit the log to found I am doing a second log. Incredible little spot here, so happy caching took us for a visit.

Found with Sheldea. Beautiful place!! Kids had a lovely time splashing in the water while we searched. no way was I getting near it with my camboot on, so left searching to others. Geohubby made the climb and find. Tin is rusted through with the lid only just holding on. Contents destroyed by rust and mould. our dilemma - replace the container but what to do with the contents... Decided to leave old cache as is and left new container beside it. TFTC
Cache was full of water, logs are soaked. We replaced the cache with a new plastic container but didnt have a new log book so added a scrap of paper and a new pen. We decided to leave old cache there so the owner could retrieve the original log books, not sure if they can be salvaged though unfortunately. Thank you for taking us to this amazing spot.
Found cache, looks like it had slid down the hill and the lid has come off. Contents is wet and the Tin is almost rusted through. (See picture)
Returned to origin location.

A lovely walk to this one, albeit a little chilly on the beach. We then approached it from the wrong side (top). I decided I would go back down to the beach, while the Moose followed the thin track down the side of the hill. Probably not a great idea, but he had it by the time I came back around. Thanks for the cache and bringing us to this wilderness spot. This is why we love caching.
We are staying at the Genoa free camp with our caravan. The day is beautiful which is a little surprising after the wet and overcast day yesterday. We headed out to the Mallacoota area and this was one of the caches we targetted especially when we saw who the cache owners were. A lovely drive got us to within cooee of gz and then it was a great walk over the squeaky sand, admiring the gorgeous rocks as we went to our destination. We searched for a long time without climbing but eventually Brucie got fed up with not finding the new tin that had been placed so up he went and within second he had a triumphant call of "I've got it". We had our picinic lunch nearby and when we boiled the billy for our cuppa Brucie pulled out his little towel that he uses on these occasions and we suddenly remembered the lovely friends who had given it to us. Still green, a little faded as is the geocaching logo [^] but still serving us well. It is an awesome area to explore thank you for sharing it with us. Fav point alloc. Thanks to Green Gecko Gang.
We found it! Replaced cracked & broken plastic container with a metal tin, replaced notebook & pen. Left a keyring, took a dinosaur. Needed G2 Mikey to get through the scrub for me!
Was not able to write in the logbook because it's wet. Needs a new container and a new logbook.
This one definitely needs some TLC. The next prospector might like to take a container and a log book if it hasnt had any prior maintenance.
1287. We initially approached this one from above and then changed our minds and proceeded with some rock hopping with the waves lapping at our feet. Found the broken container and the log was way to wet to sign so we took a pic instead.
Did the walk through from Mallacoota and had a lovely day. As previously reported the cache was broken and very wet but I didn't have a spare with me.
Found it together with schnasibla... urghhh but... the container was broken and soken wet. No chance that we could write in the logbook. So we took a picture instead.
Unfortunately we didn't have anything with us to replace it. So the next visitor could maybe bring a new container and log?!? That would be great.

Coming from Mallacoota, a large puddle on the track and a few bumps later saw us at a pleasant camping area. A wander down to the beach, hop over a small creek, a few slips and slides over smooth rocks saw us getting warm. The final stage needed a bit of thinking and searching before the goodies were revealed.
The container has a little damage but otherwise OK. The log book is dry.

found this one on a beautiful sunny spring day. After having our picnic off we headed to the beach, while geo kids frolicked among the rocks hunting for shells geo dad headed for the climb with geo junior close behind, after a bit of slipping and sliding we had cache in hand.
great little spot, thanks GGG for the cache.

this was a lovely spot, long way for a sausage sizzle! but worried about the snakes in the bushes...green gecko, it needs some maintance, container damaged, not wet yet though.
Found this one after a nice steady ride I thought that the track was going to be a lot rougher. A walk across the prestine beach it was late in the day and only other footprints belonged to birds.
After rumaging through the bushes near GZ just a little futher up and there it was in the middle of the track. I am pleased to say not one tick in sight. TNLN TFTC.

Another find on a days caching with Richard (xraydelta1) in the far eastern Victoria area (Mallacoota). Well, this one took us some time. The walk to the cache and the find itself. For future finders, The elevation seemed to be about 11m, which is about 4 meters above the rocks near GZ. Anyway, that aside, what a fantastic location. Find eventually made, and just a note that the container is cracked as well, as noted by Richard who made the find. Few pics uploaded. Thanks for another sensational coastal view.
Found on a day of caching in Mallacoota with Blacklegend... bit of a hike and great views!!!! Crunchy sand... clue seemed to point to a lower GZ, but perseverance paid off in the end. Thanks for bringing us here, GGG!.

We had been looking forward to this find, put out by our daughter, Bindi (G2, from the Green Gecko Gang), but it was not to be. A few kilometres onto the rough track, was a sign, saying that the road was closed due to fuel reduction burnoffs in the area, so we had to turn back to Mallacoota.
Now we'll HAVE to come back!.
Now we'll HAVE to come back!.

Found on a day trip to Mallacoota, however this made this sausage sizzle. Figured out where it should be and thought it was higher than it actually was so took the high road - big mistake. Anyway after retracing found easily. cache is a little damp otherwise in good condition. TNLN, Thanks
Found during our stay at Mallacoota, bushwalking and tick collection activities.
This was our first find for the day.
It was an unintentional find actually. We Bushwalked to Shipwreck Creek for lunch and without any cache notes for the cache.
I had the cache on the GPSr and when I saw it pop up nearby, I just had to grab it.
Noticed the container is a bit cracked and it may have been stood on by someone going up the "track".
Also noted a note in the log book put there by a muggle.
This is also where I picked up my first tick!
Thanks for the cache.

Revisited this cache during a short holiday in the area. The original cache container was in fairly good condition but I upgraded it to a 1 ltr Sistema to ensure longevity. Still a fantastic spot to visit. Heaps of poddy mullet in the creek.TNLN.
Found at 5.15pm GAFF1. We nearly made a big mistake by wanting to drive down the Old Coast Rd which we had done on a previous occasion, but when we got to the turn off the track was closed to vehicles. So into Shipwreck Creek we had to go and just as well, because we loved the spot and decided to camp there for the night. The walk to the cache was interesting with a round trip over some rocks required to get past the creek. When we got within 100m of GZ we then thought we had to do some serious climbing, but thankfully the GPS's settled down and indicated just 19m from where we were and so an easy find. The cache is slightly damp inside as the edge of the lid has been damaged - possibly by rodents. Thanks for bringing us back tothis spot. tn/ln

Found by Mary & David at 1400. A great cache, wonderful views of the ocean, beach, rocks and vegetation. Even spotted some spires of tiny pink orchids on the way down to the beach. The tide was well on the way out, so we could walk on the sand around the seaward end of the creek. We were also able to explore some of the rock pools near GZ. TNLN. Our thanks to Green Gecko Gang - hope to see you and the Quilt at the June Long Weekend Event. Please say hi to GeoTreCaz for us too.
Great spot to visit and an excellent cache location. Sent the younger member to retrieve the cache! Left Telstra Rally Australia lanyard and took blue whale toy. Thanks.
After a lot of effort ambo412 and family found it. Took prehistoric bird, left car. Thanks to Snockley who send co-ords by SMS after we left on vacation without any geocaches to find (GPS in car though) and to Hoverbeams via satphone who gave us the clue to find it (Snockley forgot that part!) Thanks for a beautiful location we would have otherwise missed.
The track in wasn't too hard for the 2WD Falcon. Just one or two bottom outs. Walking the 500m revealed a great beach on a hot day. The inner tubes went into the surf and then we made a family flotation chain up the river. Great photos and a great spot added to our memory list. Thanks so much for this amazing spot. Oh yeah, we got the cache too!
It was getting close to sunset as I left the previous cache heading to this one. The road was rather bumpy, but I made my way as quickly as I could so that I could search in daylight. After a quick walk down to the beach and along, I arrived at the caching zone.
Did I come the right way - should I have approached from above or below? As it turned out, I did it right. I didn't make any exchange. Thanks for bringing me back here again, and for the cache.

found at 12.30pm - didn't have to get wet, crossed at the rocks!
great place for a cache and a lovely place for a sausage sizzle, had one here last year too but that was before we knew about geocaching! (Huge spider lives on the bbq plate, eaten this year by a magpie)
took lizard
left dinosaur
thanks

What a really nice walk along the beach - but boy was the cache a mess.
I guess the last finder didn't replace it securely - it was just shoved into a bush, and the contents were waterlogged. We dried it as best we could, but when we left the log-book was still a little damp.
I think we have corrected the cache creep and replaced it under a rocky overhang, protected by some bushes, and covered a little better.
T:N
L: Screwdriver, car, glitter glue and a small ball.
Thanks Green Gecko Gang for bringing us to this secluded spot.
PS, the cache was found back in April by a pair of muggles who thought that it was litter, and there may be more finders than the log suggests.

[This cache was quicker to find than expected. The distance to the beach didn't seem to be 500m, nor did the walk across the beach to the cache. By the GPS, it was more like 300m each. Due to rain, the creek wasn't as shallow as we would have liked, and it certainly wasn't suitable for Little DragonFoot to cross. So, S sprinted across the beach, found the cache quickly and brought it back. He seemed a little annoyed when he got back. This is why:]
The cache was in the middle of a dirt track on the face of a steep incline. It was under a bush but there were no rocks to be found. S considered it far too easy. Muggles had found it and logged their visit, but a geocacher also had found it and hadn't. The cache wasn't sealed properly and the zip-lock bag wasn't closed. S thought that the cache should have been located close-by but not where it was found - maybe it suffered from 'cache creep' and has started making it's way down the hill, as S thought it would be higher.

Found by ermil & maddie. Decided this one was too close to let up. so even though the description said it was rough track and 4 wheel drive or high clearance 2 wheel We decided to give it a go in the Magna. The track was in god condition and made it through to the cache vicinity even avoiding a few wallabies along the way - geez they have no road sense! Before taking the walk a guy pointed us in the direction of a big goanna just sitting in the sun; managed to get some photos to log. Followed the GPS down towards the gz only to be confronted with a rather daunting obstacle however a good bit of nav work soon had us around it and it was on to the cache which was then located without any drama. Took glow'n'dark figures and left pkt of live bait - mm not really alive, just an imitation. Took travel bugs to journey onwards. Thanks for the trip, if it wasn't for the cache it is unlikely that we would have journeyed here.
Geogranny from Scotland and I went hunting for pirates at Shipwreck Creek. Couldn't find any so left one to guard the treasure - TB Lil'Bourbon can dry out for a while and get used to the salt of the sea after spending a while in the ACT. We also left TB Please Come Home - starting it off on a short leg southwards. Took Canberra patch and a little green gecko - thank you muchly
This is a great spot - loved the wade through the creek, even though Geogranny wet her knickers. I thought she would be fine taking her jeans off but she's so short that she still got wet to the waist! Honestly, mothers! What can you do with them? Anyway, it was a fairly long trip back to Canberra so she was all dry and sorted by the time we got home. A great day out at the beach. TFTC

probably the best spot ive seen for camping and fishing. thanks GGG. took hakky sak left tafe badge
Well...what can I say - WOO HOO !!! . The first FTF by the Raskal3 team. The brain really had to be engaged for this cache even after decyphering the clue provided. A word of warning though, the path to the cache is VERY slippery when wet - especially after 8 days of sporadic heavy rain!! (The nearby fishing was good though). SL & swapped the lemon Gecko for a few dog & dinosaur figurines. Photos logged. Thanks GGG.
