Thanks to all that visited our Geocache. Had to have a laugh, it took us two attempts to locate the container as it had moved about a meter from where we originally left it.
Found today during my Beechworth - Mt Beauty - Falls Creek - Omeo - Mt Hotham - Bright - Beechworth caching extravaganza.
Great to be back up here again. Have been here many times before as a Leader at the nearby Rover chalet. A great place to learnt o ski and soak up the winter scenery.

Looked through this fascinating hut, and checked out all the facilities whist we waited for the muggles to depart. A quick swoop to sign log and replace cache, before the next lot arrived. Must be fantastic views from here, but all we saw was pea-soup fog

We decided to use the Christmas break as an excuse to do a drive through the high country, now that the Bogon High Plains Road is sealed all the way around. We planned out our route (Wodonga to Wodonga via Mt Beauty, Falls Creek, Omea, Mt Hotham, Bright) and put together an (optimistic!) list of 23 caches to pick up along the way. This one was number 10 on the list, but when we got to the location, it was pretty busy with muggles. We waited around to try to get an opportunity to have a good look without an audience, but there was another couple hanging around that looked like they were waiting for us to leave. It became almost comical as we each ignored each other but tried to look busy while waiting for the others to leave, but just as I was about to ask them if they were fellow cachers, they came up and asked if we would mind moving out the way so they could take a photo of the hut without our ugly mugs in it! We obliged, they took their pics, then left, and we quickly had the cache in hand.
Out in the hills because it should be much cooler on a 35 degree day and catch some caches. All was good, but the flies enjoyed our meal as much as we did. Any way another reason to check out a wonderful hut. Signed the log and walked with the flies to the next gz. TFTC
Can't remember exactly which day I found this on, you lose track of time when your staying at the Rover Chalet, stopped by after a morning at "ski school" on the slopes above, TFTC
The forest boys found this while doing the loop from Wallaces Hut a magical autumn day. Took hippo, left lion. TFTC
A nice and quick find before embarking on a few days walking to the north. Great location and nice hut! Thanks
Fantastic location. Had a great walk around a number of the historic huts. Always enjoy a few days in the high plains.
Found after a few days walk from Bogong Village (42.6 km over three days) via Spring Saddle, Little Plain and the Fainters, Tawonga Huts and Mt Jim. Camped the last night near the waterfall on High Plains Creek - what a fantastic place for a swim to cool off. Have many photos of Cope Hut from nearly 20 years of walking, and I never tire of seeing this beauty. Took Geocaching Evolution GC, left Globe-trotting Smilie GC, TFTC
Found at the end of a 3 day walk starting at Bogong village via Mt Fainter and finishing at Wallaces hut. Cope hut is in good condition and the toilet a welcome sight at the end of a 3 day trip. This place is well worth a visit if in the area. Took Globe Trotting with a smile TB just as it was dropped off by Aussie Puschaks TFTC

Catching up on some belated log entries - have been on a motorcycle tour from Qld down through NSW to the Snowy's, on to the Victorian Alps and back though NSW Sapphire coast. Limited room on the bike, so no swaps this trip. Dropped in and retrieved geocoin. TFTC
Found at 1:50pm with Eudes while on AWG bushwalk 87 with a group of friends on a magnificent alpine day. Fortunately the muggle stream was clear when we needed to make the find. Great to see this piece of high country history.

Found this one today at 14:52 after spending the morning at Wallaces hut with some of the builders descendants!!
I had never been to Copes hut before, It was great to explore and in amazing condition too!
The V.H.C.H.A book in the hut was full, and the geocache log (being two years older) still has plenty of space to spare, so come on i reccomend getting out to see this piece of history.

I was camped at Langford West camping area over the weekend, and picked this cache up on the way home.Very easy find
Found by Krandy, there were a group of hikers around so was unable to write in the log. The cache was a bit exposed when we found it so quickly rehid cache. TFTC TNLN
After finding Outdoors Type Point, it was time to tackle its next-door neighbour. I've been here many times before, on a variety of trips of varying durations. There were no cars at the carpark, so I was hopeful of a quick and easy find. With rain still coming down, I ran most of the way to GZ, only to hear voices from inside Cope Hut!
I opted to enter, in case I had been spotted. Inside where two blokes and a bunch of kids, having a rest day whilst on a 5 day circumnavigation of the Bogong High Plains. With the slow combustion stove cranked up, voices everywhere and food cooking away, the hut had the perfect atmosphere. These humble structures are as much a part of the alps as the mountains and plains themselves.
After chatting for a few minutes, I bid the hut-dwellers goodbye and left the warm interior. As the muggles were concentrating on consuming their pasta, at last I could commence the search and the cache was soon in hand.
Retrieved the geocoin and left a TB. Thanks telefreaks! One day I'll come here in the winter and carve a few telemarks on the surrounding slopes myself

This place was like Bourke street. Muggles had surrounded the building.
It took a lot of time and skill to retrieve this cache.
We had to resort to diversion tactics to retrieve and to put back the cache safely.
Another great place for a cache.
Took Travel bug and padlock and left geo caching pin.

No digging required, the rovers clearly did an above-average job of uncovering this one. They also left us some tasty 'treats' at the Bogong Rover Chalet, being colourful vomit-textured snow. Ranga-dang-a-ding-dong (Tremaine) and Trevor helped us find this as Ben and I kinda didnt look properly. Yeah good cache, some people camping at the hut when we went past with the venturer party. Good fun skiing down the valley after the disappointment of walking down it last year, even if you do faceplant at the bottom o.O
Great Cache, and pleased we could find it for ourselves (sort of) this year.

On a short walk while camping at Wallace's. This is a place I have enjoyed several times so thanks telefreaks for putting a cache here. TNLN SL. Thanks for the clue too as the gps was jumping a bit.
Only 2 horse riding muggles here when we arrived, sitting and resting right at GZ. Within 5 minutes, near another dozen muggles turned up from all directions; bushwalkers, mountain bikers, and 4wd`ers. We took a short walk with the camera and returned without anyone around - PERFECT. Found quickly with the help of the clue.
Beautiful place. Will have to plan a weekend walk and retrieve a few others in the Bogong area.

In - Monsters Inc Mike figuirine and USA Geocoin USRVC4.

Found on 18/10/06 @ 1210 AEST. After a meeting in Mt Beauty, Fearless Leader, Mark, and I inspected the site where 90,000 cubic metres of material may be placed, then decided to have an early lunch in Cope Hut. The cache was easily found, and we retreated from the wind into the hut to log and dine

Found by djcache & family (GAFF1)
Returning from Omeo to Shepparton via Anglers Rest is something djcache has been meaning to do for quite some time. Actually, having lived in Mount Beauty for much of my life I had never gotten around to doing the short link between the Omeo Hwy and the Cope Hut turnoff. Now I have - and I did it before they seal it which I felt I had to do.
It was a great day for it. Stopped in at the recently reconstructed McNamara's Hut for a look & laughed at the morons in the new 5 series BMW battling the corrugations. The guys on the bikes looked like they were having fun.
We found the cache without difficulty. I've been here many many times. We used to bring visitors up here for a look, and my sister had her wedding photos taken at Wallaces. Never skied out this far though - only in summer.
The cache had been gnawed through by a rodent - probably used to such containers containing food. I had a spare container with me so we replaced it. And rehid it a little better than the last finder.
Won't be long now and it'll be ski season and it'll all be white again. Yay!

I should not have read the clue first - made it very straightforward. Park Rangers were at the hut measuring up the chimney so they could fit a new flue on the heater.

When I arrived at GZ, there were already two muggles inside, with another two approaching up the track. After saying hello to those already inside, and the next two to arrive, I went outside and safely located the cache away from muggle eyes. I had left my pen in the car, so I ended up borrowing a muggle pen to log my find.
No swap was made. Thanks, telefreaks, for the cache and bringing me to such a great area.

Nice short ski, with a nice sleep on the small patch of grass out the front in the blazing sunshine (would've preferred 2m of the white stuff, but this was still pretty pleasant). A fine reward for the previous day's epic which, for no real reason only ended after a few hours of darkness and a long trek back along Langfords East aquaduct from Edmanson's, Johnston's, Kely's & Fitzy's huts via Nelse. Great spot, great company, excessive pig products.

In the area for a week with a group of venturers so had to grab this one as we passed on our way to the top of Mt Cope. Lots of white stuff around but no digging was needed to retrieve. Dropped the 'Bill-e-goat' TB in here as he likes high places and thought this would be perfect for him! Cheers.
Found by Maya and Ray in company of Max and Roma at 12.55PM on the 24th of April. Nice walk on a beautiful day. We were on a work party in the Falls Creek village and needed a break and the kids in the lodge were really keen to see what geocaching was about. An ideal cache for a short walk, it was quickly found after realising that the hint was very relevant. The only difficulty in the terrain is the high plains road which is getting a bit rutted and rough after a long summer.
We left a pencil sharpener and took a squishy robot which the kids said was a good trade.
