A meeting with the owner at beaker's event last year mentioned that the cache for this one was still out in the field so I gave it a go.
I couldn't find the initial cache but guessed where to look next.
So armed with my new calculated coordinates I set off for GZ but couldn't manage to locate the cache.
GZ is quite overgrown with vines and without ripping the place apart I couldn't manage a find.
It's been an interesting journey though and it's a shame it has gone by the way.

As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Couldn't find the hidden poem....I was soooooooooo disappointed. Went to the coords for mor ingo at the info Centre and they had NO IDEA. Then I went to the man at the Aquifer Tours...Pump it up! and he was a mine of knowledge...only trouble was we had driven past that destination yesterday and weren't going back!

No find for us today. Made a lot of geotrails and looked and looked. Obviously not in the right spot. Never fear we will return.

Never found the poem waypoint. Lots of places it could be but it'll soon be a fight against the bridal creeper.

This one just fell apart at the seams for us. Found the cache notes concusing (esp on a PDA) and never found the poem. At the time we thought we may not have to, as position 3 was given in the notes. (Or so we thought.) Reading Dak's log in hindsight it would seem he initially thought the same until the penny dropped. Unfortunately for us, the penny stayed very much 'up', as we traipsed off to the Lady Nelson Info Centre and got even more confused.
In the end we abandoned this one and went off in search of any of the other 100 in the area [^].
(We haven't enjoyed a cache density of this magnitude for a few years now Wink)Thanks, anyway Rizzos [^].

Last of only four caches on my last day in Mt Gambier (clean-up day). Today, I'm cleaning up some that I've been working on during my visit. I started this one several days ago, but got stymied looking for the information at destination 3. I stupidly went to the Lady Nelson Tourist Information Centre to look for the numbers, but couldn't find anything. This afternoon the penny dropped! Doh! Red Face[|)] So, I tootled off to the proper destination 3, and started gathering the information. I had a theory about where to find the information about the poem, but it turned out to be a washout. Then the gardener approached me to see what I was doing. I told him I was on a treasure hunt, and he said that he had seen other people looking for similar information. He didn't know the riddle of the poem, but he suggested that I try the caretaker, Alan Childs, at the private residence.

Alan knew the information off the top of his head, and even nominated the exact day and month. He even explained the meaning of the name of the wrecked ship. He was very helpful, if you know what I mean. Wink I managed to get away before the leg of my iron pot suffered any lasting damage. Big Grin I constructed the coordinates and set off to GZ. I found the cache at 1825. I'd call it a regular cache, not a small. Thanks to The Rizzos for the cache. I got a real kick out of finally putting this one to bed. Cheers, dak.

Teamed up with tiges and the Geogirls for an arvo's drive. Started this one last week and thanx to tiges for his help at the final stage. The co-ord's we had were sending us 110 km out to sea. We did'nt have a boat on hand, so we figured we might be wrong [:i] A pleasant walk in the right direction and a short fossick at GZ came up with the goods in a well planned
cache. Thanx Rizzos TNL 2 marbles.

Wow this one took a lot of effort. Even had to ask the ground carer muggles for one of the clues. This was started the previous weekend and ended today, as ironically we went 2/3 to the cache looking for one of the clues. At least we knew where we were going when we had the full co-ords...
First Multi-cache ever, so thanks The Rizzos

Hidden poem at stage 2 has been made a bit easier to find .
Some new redevelopments in the area had nearly buried the poem so I have brought it out of the wood work so to speak.

Joined forces with Darren from idax today. He had already done the cache and was certainly not giving too much away. Managed to embarrass ourselves with some of our calculations but got there in the end. Loved the whole concept, the final location was so quaint and we managed to find easily therefore not tramping around too much. Had lunch in the nearby lunch shelter area. Took brush and left book. Thanks The Rizzos for an enjoyable journey.

The whole team really enjoyed this ride. Whilst looking for a particular poem we walked past where we were to later find the cache. Thanks for the journey, its some where we would not have visited normally.

Found this little gem of a cache on the way to the SA Fourth Festive Frolic Weekend that's being held on the Queens Birthday long weekend.

We missed the hidden poem - every time we tried we would have ended up in the lake - so off to visit the ship lady who knew where we should go.

Then to the final cache area - we couldn't locate the date of the wreck, luckily we could draw on local knowledge again.

That we found this cache at all is somewhat of a miracle, but we thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

Thanks Rizzos

Found at 2.30pm
We had decided to take Audrey for a drive down 'The Bay', so this fitted in with our plans.
Whilst Audrey and Meredith were kidnapped by the curator for a tour, I was free to find the cache.
Clues quickly gathered and cache was soon in hand.
We enjoyed this cache.
TNLN
I had plenty of time to practice my poetry whilst I waited for the tour to end - Does the curator ever stop talking???
Thanks

There was movement near the canon for the word had got around
That the colt from Astro’s team was on his way.
And was joined by mates with 4WD – wheels spinning on the ground
As all the cacher ‘cracks’ had gathered for the fray.

All Astro's tried and noted colleagues from places near and far,
Had mustered at the country town that night.
For the Astro’s love hard caches where wild bush and scrub are,
And the 4WD snuffs the battle with delight.

There was Noel who made his pile of garden clippings near the tub,
The old man’s life history made him quite an interesting fellow.
And Allan, a poet and historian, was a passionate source of many tales and
detailed events of the unsinkable Admella.

Adelaide, Melbourne and Launceston were combined to name the ship
They said when it was tossed around that it would never tip.
Allan told tales of shipwreck, hard riding and loss
And Adams fast riding, that famous leap and then the death of his horse.

So with all this, Astro trekked the path aided with the clues
Even Noel lent a hand to find the cache of blue.
Then back to the house to thank all involved and the chance to donate to the ships large glass jar
Then saddled and ready, the Astro’s rode, off into the sunset to caches near and far.

Clear skies and thanks RIZZO’s
Took clip and communication bizzos.

(to the next cachers, read this poem to Allan, a message from the fellow cachers – Allan’s fav poem)
From Alan:
“The boy stood on the burning deck
Picking his nose like mad
He rolled it into little balls
And flicked it at his dad.†[^]

After doing the first part of this cach last weekend, we finally got to the second leg today. At first attempt, the coordinates we worked out were 1800is km's away. Figuring this couldn't be right, we had another look and the distance of 14km's was better but obviously still not right.
At this point I rang the Andrew&Leesa helpdesk for some much needed help. Seems I wasn't good at counting decades. Oops.
With that corrected, we were on our way to the cache. Pretty straight forward at this point.
Took rubber ball, bracelet and geosafety shades
Left acy strap, fridge clip, key clip, nail brush and a couple of toys

Thanks for a good cache Rizzo's

I started doing this one as my first cache this morning.
Found the waypoint after doing the maths and located the area to collect the main points. We where waylaid at this location by the local curator who gave us a remarkable insight into the life of the poet and the history of the wreck in question. He recited poetry and took us for a tour. It was an amazing experience and one of those things you would never encountered if it wasn’t for geocaching.
Alas we came unstuck at this point. I miscalculated forgetting that 0 to 1 counts as 1 not 1 to 2. With a GZ that was 10 Ks away and being unsure which way to go and having spent a lot of time we abandoned the cache and carried on to others.
Speaking with Beakers Bunch later in the day we found they also had had troubles with this one so together we went back and had another look. We had barely started looking when Beakers Bunch came up a winner with the cache in hand.
TN left a butterfly and lizard.
(note - don’t get your stat for the wreck sinking from the poem printout they might give you at this location it is not the same as the one shown if you search)

At Last!!
After at 3 attempts and over 2 hours looking, we finally found this cache. Big Grin
Found it this evening with SA Parrothead. Great to be able to go caching with another team. Naturally, when we found the cache, we couldn't believe we had missed it. Not to worry though, we got there in the end.
Took nothing, left a bouncy rubber ball.
Thanks Rizzos.

Yes, Jade does do the art work inside our log books and enjoys it thouroughly. She loves the hiding and finding of " Treasure " as she puts it and it is definately the best part of caching spending lots of time with her out and about in some of the best scenery around. Since she is only 4 its also good to drain a bit of energy out of her during the day making for an easy transition to Bedtime!!!

Found by Mary & David at 1720. One of the most enjoyable caches we've done for a while - an interesting theme, and it brings together so much about the subject. Our cache print-out of the description was three days old and seemed to be missing one or two key words about the third location, but we worked out what they must have been and set off for the cache. Certainly a great walk, and good to see attempts being made to revegetate the area as it should be. Surprised to find a blank log book, so we had fun filling in the first page. Took underwater man, left scorpion, stickers and a karma card. Our thanks once more to The Rizzos.

What a great cache - though I was far less complimentary filling in the log book after another frustrating hour scrambling around (this was my third attempt). Armed with the additional clue, and convinced that it must be partly buried, I prodded my finger into every square inch of dirt within a 5 metre radius of GZ. Just as all signs of hope were disappearing, I thought about the clue from a different perspective. Voi la, in a matter of seconds, I had my hands on the cache. Opening it, I found that Mary and David had been there a mere 100 minutes earlier - that'll teach me to be conscientious and stay back late at work! Ironically, the final location was only 2 metres from where my GPS had initially led me yesterday.

Thanks Rizzo's for a great theme and the great hunt. I especially liked the picture in the front of the log book - I assume Jade drew it? Took a baby's fork, left a bracelet

Just a quick note to all cachers...When reaching the final location you should not have to trample through much scrub to find the cache. In scrubland I dont hide my caches very far off the track but do hide them very well.Try looking to the side of the archway and inbetween a new and old tree on the western side.Happy caching

Tried for this cache today, but came up nix. Started it last Friday night, and after following the directions figuratively, got to stage 2 just on dark - too late to go any further.

Today, I saddled my trusty steed for stage 3. I had not been here before, so enjoyed looking around the tranquil setting. After gathering the clues it was off to stage 4. After an hour of fruitless searching, I remembered the clue. However, it only confirmed that I was already in the right place! Was I right being 7m off the track?

Will do a different Rizzo cache soon - maybe I can work out a thought process here. Thanks Rizzo's for the hunt and exposing me to more of our fabulous heritage.
