Today I conquered a small, happy milestone... Smile While this is not a stat to be placed on a never ending plaque of achievements, and I won't receive a virtual whatever.... This find was a little bit different.

Happy to have my Grasshopper master along for the find. Found, signed, and replaced as should be.

A while ago before doing geocaching, we did bushwalking and have explored every track with in this park.
Today it was like deja vu coming back here.
I remember this track I was on before. Came across some photographers making some bike photos.
Now onto the cache.
Easy walk in but took me a while to find.
Pretty good condition for an archived cache.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks Westy Clan Cool All good with this archived cache

cache find # 1678. Today was the day we chose to try and locate the elusive cache 'Knobby'. With a smiley face for Knobby, we then walked on and this archived cache was next on our list.
Mr GT54 found the cache easily, despite the time since it had last been visited.
We enjoy finding archived caches and are glad to see that this cache has survived the elements. TFTC.

I have lived near Daisy Hill all my life, but only since geocaching have I truly explored this wonderful patch of bushland. I also thought I had found every geocache in here, turns out this one had evaded me.

Fangsoki called me and suggested that this long unloved hide might have been archived but left in place. Well, it would be plain rude not to join him for the hunt and have a look for it. We rendezvoused at the best parking spot and headed off into the bushland.

We both realised we had been down these same tracks before on previous hunts before. The only muggles getting about were a handful of mountain bikers and a couple of joggers making our walking pace look slow. We came to the spot and had to walk past a pair of bushwalkers, then headed into the bush.

I had examined the photos on the geocache listing page and had a decent idea where it might be. Our GPSr's indicated a likely spot and the hunt was on. While I was poking all around, Fang made a suggestion and sure enough, it quickly led to a very suspicious spot. I moved some natural things around and.. what is this!?

I called Fangsoki over and no doubt it was the geocache. It has been safe from bushfires in it's hide and has lasted well. After taking a photo I plucked it out and it has been warm at some point and the lid doesn't close. The recent drought however, has left the contents very dry - but they've been wet to the point of mush before. We signed the temporary logbook and replaced as found. What a great bonus and excuse to come back to this spot. TFTC Westy Clan, your Queensland geocache hide lives on!

Some time ago I had accrued a list of archived caches that are possibly in place. It has been time, recently, to go through them.

I noted where this was and got on the horn to Captain Terror. We decided to rendezvous and go for a looksee.

It was a nice day and I always enjoy being in this park. More people than I thought about - but nothing we couldn't handle. We got to GZ after a 1km walk or so.

We looked in some obvious areas and I suggested another area. I took a different path to the area to Captain Terror - but the Captain found it "en route". Yes - most excellent. The cache is in place. It looks like it has had a cooking in a bushfire at some stage and the lid doesn't close properly anymore. Happy to be the first to sign this log after 3½ years. We signed it, took some photos, and re-hid it.

With our mission done - we headed back to the car. A great little cache - in a great area. TFTC Westy Clan Smile

Hello,

It is Rana Pirica, the geocache maintenance frog, once again hopping through your area to check on geocache maintenance.

Since there has been no owner activity on this cache page and it has been over 30 days since the request to perform maintenance, this cache has been archived. Please remove any remaining cache components if you have not already done so. If there are questions about the archival or if you would like it to be re-considered for listing please e-mail me or your local reviewer in response to this archival, and we will help to unarchive your cache if possible. I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and look forward to seeing your further participation in the future.

Very nice place. Thanks for bringing us there. The cache needs badly maintenance. Everything is very, very wet and it is of no use to put in a new logbook before drying the whole lot.

This log is destroyed. Someone has put a new piece of paper in as a substitute for the time being though.

Found this spot at 12:40. Scared a few hoppers around the site as they went bounding down the hill.
Was not able to sign log as the contained had around 2 inches of water in, aka, 50 mm. Everything in the ontained is wet wet wet and it will need fixing or replacing with another contaione which is not blue... to attrach water? Smile Great find and a good hike up.

As per log.

13-Apr-08
Had a great walk around the circuit today.

GPSr gods weren't playing nice and had me all over the place.

Was almost ready to give it away (I don't like the idea of turning up the entire area especially in a conservation park) when I found the cache.

The cache is/was full of water. Why do people use soap as a swap? If the container gets water in then it all turns to a mess. Emptied out as much water as I could and let the contents dry while I sat with nature for about 20 minutes. Didn't even try to sign the log as it was too wet and gooey.

This cache desperately needs some maintenance.

Hi all, this was our first cache find! Took myself and my 7yo girl and 5yo boy. We started from Underwood Rd entry which was about a 1.22km trek to the cache (as the crow flys). We got to the spot and looked around for about 15 mins without success. Was just about to leave and then I spooted it hiding under a rock. Left a message. My boy took the Golf Ball, and we deposited a bead figure crafty thingie (sorry cant remember proper name for them). Anyway another child would love it I am sure!

It was a big walk for the kids (probably 3km round trip) but they loved finding the hidden treasure!

15-Nov-07
Took a bit of searching amongst the rocks, but eventually found it.

Log book will need replacing soon as it is almost full, only about 3 pages left.

30-Sep-07
Wow - it was hot.
Approx 34 degrees walking to this one - which is pretty hot for a NZ'er. Lots of cycle muggles about.

11-Aug-07
Only about 20 minutes after Steve et al! Was that them I saw on the way in/out? We'll never know! TNLN thanks Westy Clan for a nice walk and cache.

11-Aug-07
We found this cache with Lochb today. We always love coming to this area, and today was no exception. Walking through the bushland, listening to the birds and looking for wildlife - back to nature is a very appropriate name indeed!

On the way to the cache, we found a large lizard sunning himself on a termite mound, and on the way back we found a mumma koala with her joey sitting in a tree just off the path.

The cache itself was an easy find. We made no swaps, as we'd forgotten to bring the swap bag with us. Thanks for the cache, and another reason to be here today!

11-Aug-07
Found in company of Steve&Family. We walked up, and down, and up, and down ... and found an easier way out! Great park, and enjoyed the walk! TFTC

It had been a while since I had been to this area and a few more caches have appeared since my last visit, so decided to go for a stroll and find a few.
I found this cache fairly quickly. I sat on a rock for a while enjoying the surroundings and reading the log book.
Lots of mountain bikers out today.

No swaps today.

Thanks for the cache

We are visiting Australia for the first time. We enjoyed the walk through the forest, and hearing a kookabura was a first for us. Our GPS did not perform too well under the trees but found it eventually. Only had time for this one today will be back again to log some more in the forest.

Another successful find!! Had our doubts as the Spinksclan did not meet with success with this one. But the 11 year old geo kid was switched on and she found it within a minute!! Well done!! Geo Mum took the tea pot pin cushion kit - THANK YOU to whoever left it - right up my alley. Geo kids were a little put out that Geo Mum got to choose for the first time ever!! Out - Pincushion kit and some foreign money (dratted geo kids HAD to have something) in went a bottle opener, mobile phone strap and a scrunchie. World Travel Coin was deposited as well. Thanks Westy Clan for a great hide and a great spot.

Another one for Mrs Lat&Long. We found this one around lunchtime but didn't have any lunch with us. We'd have loved to have sat and had an impromptu picnic.
Didn't make any swaps but we read the logbook and enjoyed the serenity. Do yourself a favour and take the time to enjoy the surroundings at this one.
Obviously it was not such a quite place at one time. Have a look at the lightning damage on these two trees.

Smile It took us a fair bit of searching before we found this cleverly hidden cache. It is in a great part of the park. Plenty of muggles around but the cache site is relatively out of view. 8 year old put in a "karate man" and the 5year old put in something that we don't remeber now. Think of it as a surprise! We took the "Ringlein" travel bug and will log it and place it again soon. Thanks Westy Clan! TheNanks

Our first cache find.
We started out as a party of 3 kids and 5 adults.
Took a wrong turn, then some 300 meters later turned back.
Two of the more senior adults decided to sit on a comfortable rock while the rest continued.

When we got to the GPS co-ordinates it took us about 10 mins to find the cache. Kids were over the top with excitement. They each took a small toy. They then chose one from a bag of goodies we had to replace them.

Overall a very enjoyable day was had by all. We are lookig forward to more such outings and perhaps one day plant one or two of our own.

Thanks very much for placing this cache.

After getting the nearby "Phascolarctos cinereus" cache, I was walking to this one and disturbed a brown snake on the way. Watched him with interest as he slithered off into the bush. Good coords had me find this cache quickly. Interesting to note that it was placed by a WA team, who included a tourist map of the Bunbury area. As a kid, I used to always holiday there and I cast my first fishing line off the old Australind bridge Big Grin . Grabbed the TB Taiwa to take back with me to SA. Last cache before flying to NZ tomorrow. Every hidey hole looks the same here, lucky to find within 5min. I like the "Geocache Business Cards" the Westy clan have made.

Was in WA in 2003, shame I didn't know about caching then because we walked right past quite a lot on our travels. Explored the loop south of Perth but didn't quite have enough time to get to Kalgoorlie, however later that year my mother brought me home a present from Langtrees (I think thats what it's called). Quite a colourful history!!

Thanks, Brendan

Great spot for a bike ride. Saw koalas all over the place too. The cache was a bit more elusive. It took quite a while to uncover its hidey hole. Took bouncy thing and left car.

Any excuse to get back to this area of town is always welcome. A brisk early morning walk from the car park got me this one. In and out in 30 minutes.

Wow, really a hot walk to find this one. We left the water in the car - very bad. Finally found it after wandering around in spider land. Left a travel bug.

05-Feb-05
The second cache of our Queensland visit. After spending the night on the red eye flight from Singapore, we were a little sluggish on the hot walk to the cache. The gps was a bit flaky under the trees, so we ended up taking a detour through the ravine before finally getting a good reading. Saw a lot of huge spiders while we searched through the brush. Once we got to the right spot, finding the box was easy.

Decided I needed a lunchtime stroll. Luckily this one was close enough to work place. It was good to return to this beautiful bushland. I remembered a lot of the trails from the Autumn Picnic.
