Dad went solo on this one as the ladies stayed in the big soccer mum car to make sure the air con was working, and our travelling companions had already found this one a year ago.Thankfully it was an easy slight incline compared to some others we had done in here so I was down and back ina jiffy after signing the all important log book. Not a bad view across the valley.
We’ve walked enough this morning so a ‘drive by’ was in order.
Still can’t elude the March Flies though.

we chased the butterflies up the hill
they fluttered and flitted ahead
hundreds upon hundreds
glinting orange in the sun
we followed the flock, up and up and up
we heard the heavy breathing and the crunching of boots on gravel
we were being pursued: a man was chasing us up the hill
we picked up the pace, the butterflies did the same
our legs turned into pistons
our lungs into bellows
they flapped like hummingbirds
we made it to the top
gasping for air and clutching our sides
we found the treasure
the man signed his name
the butterflies did too
they fluttered and flitted ahead
hundreds upon hundreds
glinting orange in the sun

No butterflies in June. A wee climb enjoyed by a wee group while a tribe continued on their mission. But either way I thinks this fun. - the planets aligned and I made the trek from afar, bunked in the girliemobile for the night at Pykes and then headed to todays brekky event followed by a tramp in the bush to find a few random caches, the fab Yoricks caches and then to the grand finale ’20 year celebration event’. This whole day has been totally rewarding and impressive. TFTC and the planning that has been created for our enjoyment.
*Found on the 25 Jun 2022 @ 9:59 am.*
*Cache find # 13007.*
It was a great day for a hike and after the earlier event a group headed off along the trails around the hills on Yorick's odyssey in search of many bones with lots of interesting caches to find.
While the main group continued on, on the other side of the river a small breakaway group of 4 headed further a field in search of this one, once we were in the right spot the cache was found.
We then headed back and caught up with the others.
It was a great morning and we finished in time for the CCE.
**Thanks to Maccaholics for placing this cache.**

Followed the butterflies here. There were what seemed like millions of them. Always walking along the track ahead of us.
It is not as though they were implanted on the windscreen of the car.
Don't have a 4WD. The bananas walk. With high pollen content in the air the smells were tremendous.
The butterflies were gorging on the landscape.
The bananas were gorging on the landscape.
Even though is was a significant steep walk up and down the hills, the butterflies kept us company. Time went quickly. The effort was easy. The kilometers flew by.
And as a treat, the butterflies led us straight to the treasure. Then accompanied us all the way back to transport, many kilometers later.

After camping overnight nearby, day1976 headed off to do some more caching. Most didn't require the 4wd but this one did, so up we went with everything in the back bouncing around. On the way back down afterwards the swag was trying to slide out down towards the windscreen.
Ilukaperi and I do enjoy a 4WD cache and we had brought the Disco up to have a bit of a play in this area. Whilst there are some super funny and creative caches in the area, most really didn’t require the 4WD. This one however was different. Thoroughly enjoyed the track into this one as our camping gear resembled a tossed salad in the back of the car.

Today this cache had it all. It had been unloved for just over 12 months, so it was glad to see me. I was surprised to see that this cache was placed in 2005, and after 13 years has never had a Favorite Point, Well it gets one from me. The track was open today so I drove down to the river and parked the Geo-mobile. I was within 900m of GZ. I walked up,up,up, to GZ. The first part of the track was way beyond my 4WD skill. At least the walk back was going to be Down,Down,Down. The co-ords were spot on, within a metre, and an easy find. The cache is in excellent condition. Walked the 900m back to the Geo-mobile and 4wd my way back out. 4wd tick, Hike tick, 13 year old cache tick, 12 months of unloved tick. First Favorite point tick. Ticking all the boxes.
Thanks **Maccaholics**

Don't you just hate it when you go out to give some loving to a series of unloved caches that you've had planned and end up following others that did the same a week earlier?
Never mind, this cache continues to be loved.

A quick and easy find as we cache our way through the area today. No trouble making this one a drive by today, and a bunch of unloved to be had as an added bonus. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Found on a day walk around the area, just a slight detour from the Yorrick series. A short walk up the hill to get the blood pumping and this was a pretty easy find. Nice place to catch my breath and return back down to the river bed.
A sunny Saturday, and decided today I would explore Trentham - Blackwood. So with Ausfox! and Bentley, that's what we did. Always love coming back through the Wombat Forrest and Lerderderg, as well as these little bush towns.
Driving here got a bit rough and bumpy, thankfully nowhere as rough as the earlier part!
Love any cache in Lerdie, thanks for bringing me here! Just about one of the last ones here for me to do... for now

Spent the day with with Jacko83 and Bently exploring Blackwood and Trentham main rds and tracks.
It was much easier to get to this cache than the last. A great area to explore. Signed and replaced as found.

This is our 666 cache lots of fun for our first 4x4 drive! Thanks for a great cache
Just like the previous cache I attempted, I had to walk to this one. Amblers Lane was closed for another couple of weeks, so I had to leg it here today. Id forgotten how these hills can take it out of you, this walk certainly gave me a workout. Cache found in tip top shape. TFTC Maccaholics
Out on a day trip caching and 4x4ing with some friends (we took them caching back in Jan and they loved it) but wanted to add some 4x4ing to it as well. Beautiful day for a day out....
Found it

We were out for a 4wd trip and to pick up some caches along the way, this one was a fun drive up to it and we'll worth it, luckily the creek was low to make for a easy crossing to the other side. Thanks for the cache Maccaholics.
Came from O'Briens up a side creek and then up and over one hill and up another to get there - lots of effort but worth it as I was rewarded with the find. Still nice and intact despite nobody logging this for so long! TFTC!

After a nearby find I decided to trek on up the hill here to put a smiley on this cache.
Was feeling it a little by the time I arrived at GZ.
The cache was found dry safe and well too.
I sat and admired the view before I n=moved on from here.

Been wanting this one for a while and today was the day to go for it.
I drove my little Mazda as far as I felt safe and then put my feet into tractor mode and walked the rest of the way. Fortunately the river was down enough to allow me to use the stepping stones to cross and then just a matter of tractoring on.
Passed some campers along the track and stopped to admire the views across the gorge.

Found this one today in the company of the well-travelled Liz and Bruce.
After a BBQ lunch at o'brien's crossing, we grabbed these 3 great caches along the upstream side of the river. A pleasant day weather-wise made the walk a treat.
Thanks juzmac

Jumping here there and everywhere... it was only after i signed the log that the gps settled and said 0m. Thanks for this cache, great little area and a great excuse to take our new 4x4 our for a test run off road! TNLN

Good stroll in from O'Briens Road. Quiet here at least due to the road closure (didn't see a sole). Not sure why the cache is where it is, but still in a great park! Higher the effort required, the better. Cheers.
Well...we expected to see a ruin or something resembling a house.
Anyway, found and logged the cache while checking out a section of a walk we have planned.

Found at 1:15pm after a pleasant walk in from O'Briens Crossing. Took Geocaching Australia sticker and left a golf ball. After finding the cache I cut directly down to the river then headed back to the car.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Last of 4 finds for the afternoon.
Troy's Ute was the chosen method of transport, the tiida would have struggled a bit.
Parked about 50m away and Troy soon spotted where the cache was hidden.
Took twine left mobile phone cover.
This became our last cache for the day, as when we attempted nearby "ler-di-dah", we had to turn back as campers were staying metres from GZ.
Thanks to Juzmac for bringing us here.

FOund today with Oenze. We drove in to the other nearby cache and walked about a kilometre to this one on a crisp morning. Very dray and the cache was easily found thanks to great coords. Finally my nearest to home is done, a year after becoming aware of it. Thanks juzmac.
4th find of the day at 8:58am Accompanied by Feathertop on our Good Friday caching expedition. I found the crooked cache but no sight of the crooked house just a lot of crooked roads . TNLN, Signed Log. Thanx Jusmac....
For the third time today my gps took me straight to a juzmac cache! Found easily in a good hiding spot. Took nothing and left nothing because I'd left my swaps in the car and even though it wasn't far away it was getting late. First find for this cache for more than seven months too! Thanks juzmac for the cache and the good coordinates again!
2.30pm
Found by Roma and Max.
Although the gate was locked there was ample evidence of 4wd traffic circumventing this minor obstructioin. We rode in on our motorbike to collect this and the nearby cache, to conserve our energies for some long walks planned over the next couple of days.
We took a Flute and exchanged it with a Mondo Figurine.
Thanks again juzmac, although we admit we didn't get the significance of the cache name.

Note: Pen is not working, I would have left mine but I did not have a spare back at the car.

We really enjoyed the drive in here, it's been nearly 30 years since we were last here and that was in a SWB land rover. In air conditioned comfort we climbed the hills today enjoying the scenery along the way.
The crooked house was located quite quickly and swaps were made and then we were on the track again
Thanks Juzmac for a trip along memory lane and reminding us how good this area is

Found late in the afternoon with killerbunnies after visiting Ler-di-dah for a bit of cache maintenance.
Took car and measuring tape, left mini sticky tape and keyring torch.
Thanks.

After doing maintenance on Lah-de-dah, geogourmet and I decided to test out the new geo-4WDs and make it up to some of the other caches in Lerderderg before the winter months' road closures set in.
Despite geogourmet's protests over the UHF that "we're going away from the cache!" Sally didn't let us down, and we arrived at the cache location after a short 37 minute drive to traverse the 1.1km lateral distance between the caches.
Left Carrot #45
Took whistle (with defective compass that insists on pointing "E" north).

Found by CityWest 4WD club (in the company of Ian and Penny) on a club trip in the area.
The kids in our party enjoy the treasure hunting game so much that they will be asking their parents to buy the family a GPS, so there may be a few new geocaching teams emerging in the near future.
Many swaps in and out.
Signed log.

Number 4 of 7 for the day. Found at 14:45 while on a trip with the CityWest 4WD Club and ian + penny.
Pretty easy find, though the 3 GPSr's we had between the members were all showing different readings.
What a great place for a day out.
Various swaps in and out.

[First find! Happy St Valentine's Day. Had a bit of trouble with GPSr signals but with a bit of patience things settled down and cache was found quickly. Took bag sealers and left a ball of twine. Thanks! Great fun and only 30 mins from home!]
Well maccamob, myself and J went off in search of this one and based on our clues I went to the wrong spot . Maccamob found it and we logged it soon after. Left bag closers and a sparkly charm thingy....took a glow stick.

Found by Mary & David at 1650 at the end of a most enjoyable day of 4WDing and caching in the Lerderderg State Park with Juzmac, embi & J. Didn't see the crooked man (unless it was Justin back on the road laughing at the rest of us as we tried to find it). We did have to drive a crooked mile to get here though, so it all fitted together. Took card of auto fuzes, left pack of craft cut-outs. Our thanks to Juzmac for providing a great way to finish off the day.
