As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

still waiting.

31-Mar-11
First part of maintenance has been completed, cache should be back up by the end of the weekend.

10-Dec-10
As promised maintenance is being done to bring this cache back to its former glory.

04-Dec-10
I brought someone past here today for the Earthcache, which reminded me of Lt. Sniper's promise from the Queens Land - 10 Years On event to refresh the coords. Any idea when might we be able to tick this one off the list?

05-Jun-10
Could the owner confirm if the required information is there or not, from reading the previous logs it apears it is not.

26-Apr-10
Neon and myself are prepared to perform maintenance on this cache, or rather replace the coordinates that have long since been lost to the weather with something more durable. however we need someone who has successfully found this cache to lead us to it or the coordinates. we have our own equipment.

The Climb in question is listed as "Bloody Oath" in the kangeroo pt climbs book, next to the beginner grade "Anonymous".

We tried climbing (top-roping) up to find the clue but there was no trace to be found - lots of possible nooks and crannies but I would fear that time has taken its toll here. Will keep looking each time we try this climb.

I couldn't see the clue from the bottom, but I strolled around looking at possible hiding places, I found nothing, might be time for a maintenance visit.

03-May-09
We abseiled down here twice each, but unfortunately we didn't have any luck finding the letters. It has been a while since the cache was last found, so maybe the letters have been washed off by the weather.

We attempted to work out the co-ords by guessing some of the numbers, but that also proved to be difficult.

Thanks for the hunt.

This cache has mocked me for months. It's one of the closest caches to the hotel I stay at up here. I don't have the equipment necessary to get to WP1, nor do I have the fitness level required. It certainly was starting to taste like failure. [B)] However, there are multiple ways of depriving a feline of its outer covering! Wink No further details will be vouchsafed here. Suffice to say that I got the magic numbers, and set off to GZ for an easy find. I made no exchange. Thanks to Lt Sniper for a challenging cache. Cheers, dak.

Not generally being an adventurous soul I found this a wee bit daunting. It took four visits to the area before the cache was in hand.

1st visit - 2 drops
2nd visit - 1 drop
3rd visit - search abandoned due to muggles.
4th visit - the cache is in hand

Thank you to those that kept me on the right track and offered encouragement especially my instructor/neighbour, I really couldnt have done it without you.

Lt, thanks for the experience, the challenge and the cache.

It was the RDMH game that really pushed me to attempt this one. I need the points! I originally intended it meet the 'sunset' requirement, then it turned into the 'dawn' requirement before finally ending meeting the 'night'or should that be 'early morning' requirement. What's the old adage..... 'best laid plans of mice and men' Wink

Now lets see alittle bit of rope, big cliff and you have to lower yourself backwards of the edge NO WAY not this little black duck. Where's Tam all you have to do is is get some numbers on the way down easy, she a good girl. It was a step to left and then a step to the right (good song that) as she dissapeared over the edge then she had to swing to the right and bingo she got them. We then waited for the sunset which wasn't the best of sunsets and retrieved the cache.

Red Faceas we were in town to chase P ,we had time to check this one out .
we mainly wanted to see how scary it was,no real faith in rope.
as we made it to gz bravado got the better of us and with a lot of climbers around ,it was not long till we found a willing instructor/guide.our first problem came with the fact that gz was now not called gc but bo.(with the use of gps and help line and a couple of drops all was revealed.)
we only wanted to do this once ,but after five goes we now beleive in rope.Big Grin
off to the final gz,looking for small cache.[:o)]read notes and started again, still no good[:(!]its been muggled!!!!!!
better use official help lineRed Face
as i started to explain where we were looking, geo missus sticks her head in where mr. blind was looking,10 seconds and she had it in her hand.Big Grin
great to get this one done.owner has been notified about change of numbers.
thanks for the chance to test our faith in rope.

Great day at the cliff face for all. I'll be coming back to try to reach up from the bottom just for the challenge.

Yes! We both did the deed and threw ourselves over the cliff. We even managed to remember the required numbers once we reached the bottom. Wasn't sure if I could do it, but after extracting a promise from the instructor to keep hold of me on the safety rope, I was off. Thanks amnerveragain for organising such a fun afternoon/evening and to Lt Sniper for coaxing so many mad geocachers to go there.

02-Feb-07
Thanks to Ammneveragain for organizing the experience and to everyone else that attended who made it so much fun and offered the encouragement when it was needed (like GO BRUCEY). The location was a real hilight for us. Being tourists to this beautiful city we had not been here before and enjoyed the area and also seeing the transition between day and night as all the city lights came on. Thanks too to THENANKS for sharing David's delicious special garlic prawns with the hangers on. Lastly thanks to Lt Sniper for thinking up the idea of this cache which encouraged geocachers to try something new and a little outside their comfort zone.

02-Feb-07
Thanks to amneveragain for organising the instructor to enable geo hubby to go over the cliff. After locating the necessary numbers it was off to find the cache. TFTC.

02-Feb-07
I was a bit worried when we turned up to riverlife (our instructors) and the girls in reception told us flat out we couldn't abseil in that area of the cliff Surprised . Luckily with some batting of eyelid [:X] and charm we were able to coerce them around. Great idea for a cache Lt Sniper we all had such a wonderful day! This is a must do cache for those up for the challenge.

02-Feb-07
What a lovely afternoon activity.Still not happy not being ablt to go over the edge maybe next time.Mr happy harry grabed the numbers Mrs happyharry grabed the cache then off to the Aust V Holland final hockey game. Thanks Ammneveragain for all the organisation. Thanks Lt Snipper for the cache.

02-Feb-07
aaaargh!,after seein' ye' jolly roger in ye' attributes, had to give this a look!,after watchin' ye' over teams going over the edge[still think it would be quicker if they walked the plank over!],off to find booty!,done in some great company!,thanks LT.

02-Feb-07
Well, how much fun can you have standing up? Big Grin

This was an excellent experience! We must thank wholeheartedly both Ammneveragain for organising the afternoon and Lt. Sniper for the encouragement of this placement.

All 3 of THENANKS who were old enough to have a try, abseiled down the 28m cliff with absolute joy! [^] We are very proud of the heir to THENANKS throne, 9 year old Isaac, who made it look so easy!

We made our way to the cache after arming ourselves with the numbers from WP1.

Thanks again! Big Grin

02-Feb-07
Another one to tick off the 'too hard at this time' list. Thanks go to Ammneveragain for organising this great day and Lt Sniper for the effort to place the cache. To all the other cachers who threw themselves off the cliff and those who were sensible enough to watch, I thank you for the motivation to do this. Hmmm! do I now have enough experience to track directly to some extreme mountainous caches without following trails?? Nope, I'll follow the trails.

02-Feb-07
Thanks to the AWESOME organising skills of Ammneveragain, Dosphoenix completed this cache today. In the company of theNanks, pirate63, Liz and Bruce, ruzzelz, happyharries, angermanagement, Mr Nosugref, Just a Trifle and Omy130, we threw ourselves off the cliff. Unfortunately not all teams could go, so I'm afraid we'll just have to organise another meet, maybe an event this time! My first time abseiling and apart from one embarrassing face plant into the rock wall, I think I came off okay! Thanks very much to Lt Sniper for another geocaching adventure. TNLNSL.

27-Nov-06
Dropped back to the cache today and added a new stash note and log book. The cache is well hidded and and in good shape.

21-Nov-06
I've been wanting to tackle this cache for ages as it is the closest unfound cache to HMF HomeBase.

A night out caching with TGF proved to be the opportunity for a red-hot-go.

I have made a couple of attempts previously but as i am not the most gifted climber in the world, i was glad of the company, assistance and imagination that my caching partner for the evening offered.

After a number of unsuccessful attempts, we finally managed to grab the numbers we had been looking for.

Once this info was in hand, the cache was a very easy find.

We added a little notebook and an 'official' geocaching sticker to cache which was a little bare.

Thanks to Lt. Sniper for the cache and the fun afternoon.

PS: I can hardly wait to see the photos!

Well I had to have a shot at this one at some stage and Mr Hawmorford and I decided that today would be the time.

We turned up at GZ and then began to try various methods including:

* Dangling a mirror down from above;
* Tossing a handycam in the air and watching the footage;
* Jumping up and down on a trampoline;
* Standing on each others shoulders.... while we stood on a giraffe's shoulders;
* Looking through a telescope from a city highrise;
* Building a spaceship & travelling faster than the speed of light to the nearest black hole so that we could travel back in time to when Snipey placed it so we could see where he hid it.

Anyway... we took photos of all the above and I'll post them soon.

Eventually the cache was found easily. Thanks for the fun couple of hours.

30-Oct-06
I'd like to one day be able to tick off all the Lt Sniper caches, however I can't see us ever being able to do this.

I don't even know where to start never having abseiled or rock climbed. Can you hire gear?

Or should we just leave this for the more adventurous out there?

Reading the logs will tell the story. We were very excited to realise this morning this cache was back on line and hadn't been found. After a leisurely breakfast we decided we were on! We got there & the climb looked clear ... only to find the innocent looking rope close by was owned by Onward Bound! Surprised Mystery Ink sussed us and after everyone had had a chance to climb up to the clue they graciously allowed us to join their hunt [8)] Then the real hunt began! A calculation (or 2) .. a check all round ... do we add or multiply ... is there a zero? Put us all going 1.47KM away from the cliffs - and we were off. We were on bicycles so finding a path was a bit tricky, lovely tracks along the river until you get to Dockside. We got to Mowbray Park & thought "This is it", but no. A closed road, a lot of rain & a big hill put us outside Clarence Court - an set of flats. [?] Again Onward Bound saved the day with a quick call to the Lt... And we were all off again to GZ. A cache well found & lots of fun with the others. Big Grin Thanks guys for sharing the FTF & thanks Lt. Sniper, it was the climbing challenge that launched us into action!

26-Aug-06
Its a fair drive from our place to this cache...but after watching it for so long we could no longer resistTwisted. We met up with Mystery Ink enroute and set of for a nice little climb.
We arrived just in time to beat some serious climbers to the GC bollard by nonosecondsCool. Having set up Mrs Bounder won Scissors Paper Rock and got to climb firstBig GrinBig Grin. Thanks for choosing such a forgiving grade of climb Lt Sniper....none of us has climbed for quite some time[xx(]. Having reached the little enclose and recklessly called the numbers found within down to the belay party Mrs B lowered off to find another cacher leaning on the railing....chuckling to herselfRed Face. Seems we had just beaten LiznGarth to the bollard too. We decided to team up and try for a 3xjoint FTF. The mini bounders had brought along their harnesses and so we paused to let them have a bit of a climb, the adults also played on the rock face for a bit...best climbing honours to Garth.
There was a little confusion calculating the co-ordinates as they just didn't seem right, fortunately the good Lt left his phone number and we used it to confirm the method of caculation....seems what we had calculated was right. The Inks and Bounders set of by car to meet LiznGarth at the cache...unfortunately they were on bikes and it rained quite a bit for the 1.4km journey.
Once at the co-ordinates we found ourselves in the rain under a no trespassing sign on the grounds of a unit block.
A further phone call confirmed that a digit error had been made on the cache notesSurprised(gee I'm glad we aren't the only ones who do this sort of thing....see...."Treasure Island"Red Face). So back to KP to find the cache rather quicklyBig Grin. After the three teams had logged the "logbook" was looking a bit full and may need replacement soon[;0].

All in all a fine day out and a great adventure. Thanks Mystery Ink and LiznGarth for the company.

A big thanks to Lt Sniper for setting up the cache and for thoughtfully including telephone support as a hint. Will add to our classic caches list (anthing that combines climbing and caching has to be goodBig Grin)

26-Aug-06
We couldn't resist this one as we haven't had a first to fine so we jumped at the invite from Onward Bound. As the Inks are not climbers we were wondering if we could use a mirror and a piece of string to obtain the numbers from the wall. Wink Luckily we didn't have to resort to this as Mrs and Mr Bound were climbers. We teamed up with LiznGarth to locate this cache because it took the resources of three teams to finally track it down.
Thanks to LT Sniper for providing a Technical Support Hotline because we used it extensively. On your next patrol you will need to renew the log sheets in this cache as well as Amateur Hour.

Thanks for an Interesting Cache

Scrapped second waypoint for the moment. Cache is safe and hidden. Updated Co-ords. Ready To Find!

14-Aug-06
The cache has been replaced in a much safer area and currently adding another waypoint to make it that little bit more challenging. Expect a mid-week release.

20-Jul-06
Like Sytheran would be interested in knowing grade of the climb before setting out. Can be hard to nab a bollard at KP so having some clue as to what climb it might be will help. Just out of interest, how did you place cache without interfering with the climb?? Keenly awaiting cache comming back on line....
Onward Bound

19-Oct-05
Out of interest, what's the grade of climb?

15-Oct-05
Taken offline for a day or so, I had to move the cache. Will replace by Sunday night.

10-Oct-05
Woohoo..!!!!.... I'm going to give this on a go!..... Just trying to organise my Abseiling mates and do a combo geo-abseil!....One way of getting non-cachers involved Smile
