Someone else can have a crack at placing a cache here.
Enjoy finding a highly camoed micro/nano in this huge open space.

Was near here this morning grabbing a couple of new puzzle caches and saw I could access the beach so walked on down. Still couldn't get to the cache at the other end so walked to this one. Had a good search but seeing as how no-one has found it in two years, I think it is gone. Great spot tho so I think it should be archived so someone else can place one.

Two years?

28-Jul-18
A shame this ones gone, one of my all time favorites, let’s hope another ammo can or similar will go back in here.

28-Apr-17
After success at a nearby G2 cache, I had no luck here. Found a nice stick and poked around a bit but sadly no find today.

18-Dec-16
Had a good hard hunt for this one but came up with nothing.
Looks like some king tides have come through here.
So no luck today.

18-Dec-16
I feel that it has been taken by the sea.

20-Aug-16
One of our most local cache and finally the tide was right when we had some spare time. Once at GZ it was a quick find from miss 3. Such a cool cache and swapped some swag. Such a shame I didn't have a TB on me to leave here. A fav for sure. TFTC

01-Jul-16
My smartphone got me to the end of Walter Road which had no way in and looked like I needed to swim. I moved the car back a bit and spotted the right way in. It was exactly low tide, so I had no trouble with the walk over to GZ which was very enjoyable. I just needed a minute to poke around a bit to find the thunk. TFTC.

07-Mar-16
Same again, DNF. Last found August last year. I think it has gone.

06-Mar-16
Pretty sure we were in the right spot, but no cache...

11-Oct-15
Managed to miss this one somehow. Had a good look around but while there was evidence of something once being there that wasn't anymore - it also looked like it had been gone for a while so still not sure how I missed the cache. Oh well - I'll keep an eye on it and try again after the next finder logs their "easy find" log...

Out caching with Vamber to further progress our GIO licence.

After a lovely walk along the seashore, GZ was soon in sight and cache was secured shortly thereafter.

Out caching with KiwifruitsNZ to further advance with the requirements towards our GIO licence.

A lovely walk along this shelley bank, we soon had the cache in and once we realised we weren't meant to be searching the tree! (It pays to read the hint properly). Thanks for the cache! Smile

28-Aug-15
Have been meaning to come back to the shelly walkway to complete the run but seemed time and tide were not favourable until today. Beautiful Winters morning, tide right, why not do this lovely walk. Initially parked where device suggested but a house has now been built appearing to prevent access. Moved the car one street where a lovely pathway lead the way. Beautiful walk, cache quickly located. The outer was water logged, the inner fairing slightly better. Log book is soggy but signable. TFTC

17-Aug-15
Outer container had lots of water but inner container and log otherwise dry. Nearly gave up after searching by another tree not like any others.

Came out here to specifically get this cache to fill a spot in the D/T grid. one of only 4 within a 30Km range of home. Tide was low and was a nice easy walk. Well need to come back with the camera and get some photos.

12-Mar-15
We had just returned from finding the other caches along the sand bank, when mr rebel said lets keep going and see if we could locate this one.

Its dark now, and the lights look amazing. The harbour bridge is lit up for Aucklands 175 birthday celebrations, so it changes from purple, green and red. Even the sky tower is showing off!

20 metres out from GZ it starts raining! where did that come from? we are so unprepared for this, no coats and its pouring. No shelter either. So we commit to finding the cache, whilst the shore is hidden with the mists of rain. We lean over the cache to protect from the rain, sign the log, and we are on our way.

Its now pouring! we arrive back at the car soaked, but what an adventure Big Grin

12-Mar-15
This cache was a adventure, it was dark now so with torch light we set off to find it and after a few minutes later it started to rain and got heavier and heavier now dripping wet from head to toe it was time to find the cache before the tide came in and we had to stay the night. The harbour bridge is lit up for Aucklands 175 birthday celebrations, so it changes from purple, green and red. Even the sky tower is showing off! Tftc

Put off looking for this thinking it must be something a bit different to what we actually found. The newer caches placed recently prompted a look up on this and realised how big it should be. A great surprise to realise how old and relatively good condition the cache is. In Two TC's and a TB - one TB'Ollie the Octupus'
THANKS

It's been a while since I've visited this part of the city for some caches so with a bit of spare time this morning I decided to head over here. After finding the nearby letterbox cache I decided to take a bit of a walk along the shell bank and find a few of the caches there. A nice walk to this one which has been out here longer than most caches. Great spot and cache in good condition. Tidal conditions all good for dry feet all the way too. TFTC, Biggles.

02-Aug-14
Back up in Auckland today for the last part of the August Challenge, After being sprung at the last cache by YuGeo4 we decided to head for these couple together as the tide was in so we weren't likely getting the two at the other end today, also lunch was on the horizon and looking pretty good.
The cache was soon spotted, signed and returned to place for the next lucky cacher

Thanks for the placement

Found myself on the North Shore this afternoon with slieschke and the tide just right for a stroll out here. What a great spot for a cache. Cache in good nick. +1 fave. TFTC!!! Big Grin

12-Jul-14
I've driven with a stones throw of this cache many a time but either I was on some other mission or the tide was in. Well today finally had a chance to make the find on this cache while in the area with funkymunkyzone. An interesting tidal area and great to finally cross this one off the list. Thanks!

Yay ....off to do some caches at aTakapuna and noticed tide was out so we did this one at last ! Nice to be somewhere totally out of the ordinary..a shell bank ...! TFTC

10-Aug-13
This has been on the "must do" list since first starting to geocache.... well, the timing just never worked out until today. Finally escaping the stress of Takapuna & noticed the tide was low & thought going for a walk & this cache would be the perfect way to unwind before hitting the long road home. It was a bit windy & drizzling, but oh so lovely to scrunch along the path in the fresh air, practically in the sea. It was a very easy find- in plain view.. though it did fit the clue, so hoping it hasn't wandered & replaced where/as found; suppose not many would wander out here...
Really like the way the cache is put together, so was surprised it was a little damp; It looks like a bit of debris was breaching the seal... tried to wipe clean, but not sure I managed too well while trying to hang on to brolly & not let an extra moisture in.
Thanks for the cache! Smile -TB

08-Jun-13
Thanks for bringing us here, definitely a favourite for us! Would be nice to come back to see how much of the area is covered when the tide comes in. Loved the crunchy shells! Found the cache pretty quickly, surprised it had water in it so put everything out to dry for a couple of minutes, tftc

30-May-13
As a child I spent many hours playing on the shell bank, learning about tides, so it was nice to visit again. Thank you for the cache.

18-May-13
Absolutely loved doing this cache, gets a favourite for sure. Got totally soaked through getting 2 caches earlier and had to wait out the lashing rain before making a start on this one. As we walked on out to GZ, the skies miraculously cleared and the sun shined! Perfect as we got nice reflections in the lagoons and we enjoyed seeing the city reappear from behind jet black clouds. And the sun was just the ticket to dry our wet clothes.

As we dawdled along enjoying the city and harbour scenery we found a giant, marooned jellyfish. Nice quick find once at GZ and then dawdled all the way back. Love the shell banks that form here.

Cache all good, we just tipped a bit of water out of the outer container but nothing major otherwise.

TFTC Big Grin

After an attempt a few years ago and not finding the path that leads here, we decided to try again today.

Barked up the wrong tree at one stage (should listen to GPS) but did find it eventually!

2nd cache of the day for us, SethRaven and Miss Jess loving that we are near the beach again, I was not loving the prickly grasses. Great place for a cache, Smile

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

Out and about caching this morning, making the most of the good weather.

We were racing the tide this morning to grab this one, much later and we might have got wet feet. TFTC

I first noted this cache's existence when I was caching nearby a few weeks ago. While I was immediately intrigued, the tides and weather was against me that day. Today was an entirely different prospect with a lowish tide and fantastic weather. So, when I headed out the door to take the Future Finder for a walk, this was the supreme choice. Lovely walk in an interesting environment. We would have remained bone dry, but the FF has a habit of sprinting off towards any availiable mud... Anyway, super quick find of the cache at GZ. Liberated the TB. Thanks for the great excuse to enjoy an interesting walk!

Found this cache on way back from the Gym. A pleasant walk along the beach with nice views although it was blowing a gale (had to drag the Macpac equinox out from the boot for this excursion). Gets a favourite point from me. TFTC.

Woohoo! And I did it before my husband or sons-in-law .... Fun easy one and nice wander for the dog

30-Apr-12
Been after this one for quite a while, but time and tide wait for no-one. All ok. today though, cache was in good order too considering where it is.

25-Mar-12
I've had this one on my watchlist for some time as I really wanted to find it! And it was more complicated as I needed to time the tide as well. Finally had the chance to go hunting on a sunny but very windy day Smile Off I went but unfortunately my free GPS app from Groundspeak didn't show this one, so I almost had to give up as I didnt have any exact coords! Checked under every non traditional bush in a 100m radius of where I guessed it could be and finally stumbled upon it! Should be an easy find if you have a GPS Smile

Added a small item and took a picture... Smile TFTC!

I'm giving this one a "favorite" for drawing me into a fascinating part of takapuna that is beautiful. I have never
seen so many sea shells at one time.

A beautiful stroll along the coastline soaking up the lovely views of the city too. Nice and quiet, no one around. Easy find thanks to the clues. Left A Jeep Travel Bug

Finally got to come out and claim this one. TFTC

12-Jun-11
Out on a boys afternoons caching with Friwinz, Flipdags and sons. Made our way to the cache and noticed the the tide was coming in thinking we had plenty of time to make the find. Flipdags quickly had the cache in hand and the log book signed. Making our way back to the car found that our path was completly under water no avoiding getting wet now ! TFTC Big Grin

12-Jun-11
Well, who would have thought the tide was coming in so quickly... The path to get the sea shell shore was nice and dry on our way to the cache, we did not spend more than 10 minutes on the beach as we noticed the water was coming in but even then, the path was totally submerged on our way back!!! Fun though Big Grin TFTC

31-Mar-11
Been looking out over GZ for the last few weeks while working in the area and thinking what a great place for a cache. Looked it up and sure enough there was one there. TFTC.

20-Feb-11
Stopped in to check the cache after the wild weather a couple of months back.
Cache had taken on some water and the log was very wet.
Replaced log inside another container inside the cache.
Cleaned out the sodden swaps.
It's all good to go again.
Cheers M+S [:O)]

14-Mar-10
Been waiting for tides at right time to remove a void from our D/T grid but loved the location - what a different "walkway" and tremendous views. Great hide; simple but bold & easy with the hint. Did it on a wind swept day that suited the cache. Medusa gc in, nil out. TFTC

The tide was well out so we walked the Seaside Seashells to Search for the cache. A fun and different walk, and a nice easy find (with the hint) at GZ. Thanks for showing us this spot, or we never would have known we could walk here.
Dropped off geocoin.

Thanks the.pud for bringing me how to get out here, wouldn't of though it possible without geocaching. Quick find, which was good as I had forgot to check the moon phases in haste to get hear early before day got to hot. Tide coming in over causway as I as heading out, but enjoyed the mid calf paddle back and watching the crabs scuttle away, still wasn't full high tide so don't know how deep it actually gets. - Japan Coin & Busy Bee stickers, + Frog bookmark & Refresher towlette & Caling card.
