On our Australian trip . After travelled from Darwin to Perth over the GRR, now on the Eastcoast .Starting from Cairns, Port Douglas, Airlie Beach, Platybus Camp and Bush Camp Broken River, Graignesh, Maryborough, South Nanango we now are at Noosa .Pretty nice campground at habitat and we booked the canoe tour to the everglades .Of course we headed for this one at Harrys Hut. Took a while to find the big one .TFTC# 17'963
Needed two attempts at this one, before and after a kayak camp on the Everglades. Once I found the fire trail, all was sweet. As previously logged the ammo tin is in poor condition but the plastic container has everything nice and secure. TFTC
I have been to Biggenden one last timenow to head home, the long way. As always, I allow some time to find a few geocaches along the way. But today, is all about finding geocaches. After starting caching this morning at 4am, and now that the sun is up and I can start heading east and south to my target caches. I am now heading predominately south. This cache was on my target list. I used to come here often (before geocaching and before I knew about geocaching). The 'hut' has certainly changes since I was last here. A quick find, once at GZ. Thanks for the cache.
For such an iconic cache it almost didn't get found at all, and therein lies a story. So indulge me a moment. From the title down it sits with poise. For Australians do like an idiom. From she'll be right To yarns with diggers an' cobbers aboutEvery tom, dick and...Well, you get the point. Then it's age blah blah An Epic spot to put a pin on a map and bury some treasure there more's the point. In doing so, dragging would be anglers or adventurers hook line and kayak. In our enthusiastic haste to fling ourselves into nature, all thoughts of Harry went out the window until many hours later, sore and tired arms heaved kayaks landward and over to the geovehicle for an exhausting tie down ordeal. Then this cache was remembered. Oh no! Scurrying to and fro like some headless chicken i quickly discovered the carpark was without internet reception and human squawking began to pace again in earnest. We tried again at Harry's hut, parking in the empty lot opposite. No luck! But I did see i had an eighty odd metre bushbash through doable terrain. Took two steps and was about to step on a snake so did the scared snake dance to which my geobuddy was all laughter and puzzled expressions. Coming over to investigate, she immediately spied the attached photograph. But those two aren't the one I saw, aarh there's three!I deliberated a moment longer before my geobuddy slapped direction into me, so reluctantly pulling myself from desire, slunk into the geovehicle for the long 4wd departure. But what's this?! Those blasted kayaks are slipping away. Let's ty those pesky things down then.Ohoh! Another chance and look there's a slightly overgrown fire trail leading practically to it! I'm only eighty metres.Given the ok to quickly go for it, I darted off as quick as possible legs akimbo eyes on alert. It took some time to find the hide itself. Even on super alert and fast forward mode. For it wasn't in the obvious or under the second obvious. It was a little north of both. this thing sure has seen some stuff. Signed as best as possible in the log in the new container.Thank you so much Rover3 for adopting this cache showing us this unique paradise.
We have talked about camping at Harrys hut for ages and a last minute camping trip means we have finally come to check it out. We met wayn0 at the campsite and then chilled out on the jetty marvelling at the beautiful river that looked like a mirror. As we were sitting there I mentioned this cache and wayn0 said he hadnt found it either, well lets go then! We headed off down the road and turned off at the helicopter landing site. As it was getting dark I completely missed the disused firetrail and led us the hard way squelching through the bush. We arrived at GZ and looked in the obvious spot but no cache there. We read some logs and spread out to search. We didnt come prepared for a night search so only had our phone torches to guide us. As the light was practically gone we thought we would have to call it and come back in the morning but just before we did I had one last look near the obvious spot and a few meters away, blending in very well was the rusted cache!! Woohoo!! That was a lucky find in the dark! The outer container is not great and there was water in the inner container but due to the write-in-rain log we could sign our names. Great to tick off another Q500 cache and a great spot to camp at. Thanks for bringing us here Rover3Find #6098
After arriving at camp I joined Davinells on the nearby jetty and discovered why this place is called 'river of mirrors'. Great location and one I shall return to! It was getting late and this cache came up in conversation and it was decided to go for it. Armed with phone torches, off we went. My choice of footware at this time was crocs, perhaps not the best apparel for the task haha. I believe this is my first find wearing crocs, I promise I won't make a habit of it. Now it's time for steak and beer where the crocs work fine Thanks for the cache Cheers
My 1000th cache find - how excited am I? Woohoo, what a ride!Pprime` wanted to target this cahe, and I can see why. It's awesome. Got to drive big Missi out here along the track, and then into the rather burned out bush on a hot hot hot day. No worries finding it - it's in great condition despite the surrounds. The Hut is really cool, and a nice campground and river. Lovely area.
##MILESTONE CACHE 12000##Well, who would have thought 12 years ago that I would ever get a number like this on my stats. Picked this cache as my milestone because over the past several years I have concocted several plans to get out here for this cache, and all of them were thwarted one way or another. Plus it is one of Queensland's oldest, and was placed exactly 5 years to the day before I started caching. Placed on the 5th anniversary of Geocaching's existence. It is indeed worthy. With T4mmmy (who is hitting her own milestone) driving due to my injured back, we trundled out along the dirt road - which is in pretty good condition currently - passing a few other cars, and some hikers (in 39c heat no less - wow), and pulled up to the quiet carpark right at the old hut. The hut is in fine condition, and very interesting to read about. But what was key on our minds was the bush in front towards the cache a mere 100m or so away ... everything burnt out. Uh oh. Been a few weeks so everything was just sooty and black - and largely no trees or scrub left anywhere we looked. Uh oh.We picked our way over the uneven ground and went straight to a likely big tree with some remnants of branches around it - and all was very bare. But the compass swung back and pointed 10m away - and over there there looked like a very small section less burned than everywhere else. In fact is that? ... it is an Ammo box I can see just sitting there. The box, and the inner plastic tub and contents are all perfectly OK! wow. The fire took out everywhere for a 100m except for a small 1-2m rectangular patch around the cache. Amazing. It was not hidden in any manner (all coverings were burned up), but after logging duties we hunted down a few bits of relatively unburned branches and did our best. Rescued the trackable which is lucky indeed.A fittingly memorable milestone. We took a drive around the campsite after - very nice and well setup. The river looked inviting, but we are offski. Thanks GEOBLASK adopted by Rover3 for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #12000}*
Took a tinnie up the creek from Noosa habitat to see the beautiful everglade! Found this GC after minimal bush bashing with help from Uncle unicorn! Dropped off a tradeable. There was a bush fire heading that way so hopefully the GC will survive! Tftc
After visiting Harry's Hut we had a paddle up the creek before setting out to grab this cache. We left our pen in the car so Mrs Herbz ran back to fetch it whilst Mr Herbz continued along the overgrown fire trail. Mrs Herbz overshot the spot where Mr Herbz had dived into the bush so she backtracked and arrived at GZ moments before Mr Herbz made the find. The original ammo can is still here but somewhat squashed under the log. It's cool to think that it has lasted all those years. TFTC
Rover3 I found your cache Tom, Dick and ... on 2/8/2023, 2:35 pm. This is my find 5940 and find # 5 today. No problems locating this cache, follow the geotrail to GZ. A quick find at GZ. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Bush bashing in a pair of thongs is not ideal but I got there in the end. TFTC, TFTH TNLNSL TFTSF.

Looks like a great camping spot. Might have to came here with a kayak one day.
Cache was totally full of water but log was kept mostly dry with double bagging.

We headed off this morning with three caches downloaded and this was the first one we found. It was an interesting drive out to Harry’s Hut and I was pleased we were in the bigger car to tackle this road. We parked near the fire trail and headed along where we found the cache not far from the trail. We managed to get back to the car with dry feet. It is always special to find an old cache. Thanks for placing this one and for maintaining it.
Drove down Harry's Hut Road (not the smoothest we encountered!!) to within 80 meters of GZ. Started my walk then decided wellingtons would be a better choice of foot ware as it was still wet after all the rain we had recently. Did a couple of circles at GZ before spotting the prize, a drop of water in the container but the log was still signable. Had a wander around the area and took some photos, what an interesting place. Favourite point for the adventure. TFTC Rover3
My find No. 7000!!
We booked the Eco-Everglades Safari and enjoyed the scenery from the water. We stopped at Harry's Hut, and whilst the morning tea was prepared, we headed off.....
Found the cache and the famous Harry's Hut, and enjoyed a delicious morning tea afterwords.

Eldest lad and mates found this one whilst I was organizing kayaks to cross the river and hike to Nola north shore on the cooloola great walk.
Second time at Harry Hut this year. On the first visit, we were just about to head on a 4 day Great Cooloolah walking trek, so didn’t fancy kicking that off with soaking wet boots.
This visit, and we were about to round out the walk by completing the southern section, and the fire trail was pretty dry. The two boys headed off to discover the cache and didn’t take them long.
With the recent wet weather, the outside container was quit efill of water, and the inner container had some leakage, but log book was signed nevertheless.
The containers were drained and the cache replaced. Now we were really ready to kick off the adventure.
Thanks very much for placing this cache GEOBLASK and thanks for the ongoing maintenance Rover3. Cheers

Found this with my friend Bobo and Arewethere? Great spot to start our adventure. Lord help me. Thanks for the cache geoblask and rover3
I had a wander around looking at the hut and the river before heading in here for a quick find. It’s probably not best to visit after rain as it was very boggy underfoot. Thanks for the cache
It's been a few years since I've been here, and last time there was a muddy lake in the direction of the cache, so it was saved for another day. Found it today, both the old and new cache. Thanks to Aussie Liahona for bringing out the new container and providing the accurate write up of the road in.
We took the longish drive out to Harry’s Hut today before a couple of expected days of rain. With a 4WD we weren’t too worried. The road is excellent until you take the last sign posted corner to Harry’s Hut. After that there were a lot of potholes. They were fairly easy to avoid but you need to be paying close attention to the best route through them. A couple of locations could be difficult and slippery and perhaps boggy after rain.
Once we arrived at the hut we were keen for a closer look around and we admired the river there too.
Then it was down to the serious business of finding the cache. There was a lot of ground water between where we began and GZ but with careful picking of our route and foot placements we managed to get to GZ without soaking our feet. GZ was not difficult to find fortunately and the ammo can was found in the damaged state others have mentioned. A muscle man with grips might get it open to see the sad state within but it was beyond us. It is heat destroyed from fires and very rusted from the subsequent rain and flooding. We brought a litre sized lock n lock container with a double bagged Rite In The Rain log and a ziplocked bag for the pencil. The containers are hidden together in the same GZ and waiting for the next explorers.
We loved our visit out here. The history of Harry’s Hut, the beauty of the beautiful river, the very nicely spaced camping area, amenities and large picnic shelters with many tables and benches.
All this for a wonderful geocaching experience definitely is deserving of a favourite point. In fact more than one would be given if it was possible.
Cheers and thanks for bringing us out there.

Although the cache did survive the recent fires the contents didn’t. The ammo tin is very hard to open as it’s swollen from the heat and the log book and whatever else was in it is just a charred mess.

Found it !!! W 5 scouts from Brisbane. Cache has been burnt & flooded & needs some serious maintenance. TFTC
We’ve just paddled back from a night at campsite 3. Found this cache with some scouts from SLWD. Amazingly, this cache has survived (sort of) the 2019 bushfires. The insides are burnt but the tin is good. Kelvin the Koala is now taking refuge in the cache.
Hadn’t planned on the trip here today, but as we were driving, not kayaking, we thought it would be a good idea to make use of the dry weather streak we’ve been having as the roads in would be optimal. Turned out to be a good decision as not only were they in great nick (for 4wd dirt tracks) it appears they have recently been regraded too. So the poor geomobile could sigh of 2wd relief. We’ve wanted to go to Harry’s Hut for so long!! Had a look around the area first, taking in the history lesson and that peaceful beautiful stretch of the Noosa river. Was really impressed by the facilities too. Then to GZ just a short distance away. Quick find and a lovely well stocked container awaited. Really happy to sign this log. Tftc. So glad we came.

On our tour through Australia we stayed a few days at the nearby camping ground. We joined the guided canoe tour and had a lunch break at Harry's Hut camping ground. So I used the spare time to find this cache. Walking through the forest was a therapeutic experience. It is beautiful out there, quiet and not many people.
Man thanks for this nice cache. The cache is in good condition. I leave a FP in the cache.
Best regards,

Found this a while ago with SmudgeyCat DG. Logging this cache now as part of the clues to solve the Mystery at the Museum puzzle. Read the hint, which helped a bit, bu the gps seemed to be taking me off track. Came across this after taking a wrong turn. An amazing old structure here, and a tranquil spot by the river. TFTC
We canoed up from the Kiniba information centre. Was a bit of a workout in some of the open water. We had a lovely picnic at the harrys hut picnic area then off to find a ammo tin in the bush. Easy find and cache in good order. TNLNSL. TFTC
After 2 days camping at Harry’s Hut I decided it was about time I went to find this one, since it was part of the reason I came here in the first place.
It seemed the closest point to GZ was right near the hut itself, so off we went through some scratchy bushes until the fire trail presented itself and soon thereafter made the easy find. As usual, the old story of “hard in, easy out” was the case, with the walk out along the track a complete cinch.
The contents were a little damp, but the log was usable.
TFTC and a FP for using an ammo can and picking a nice location for the hide

Thanks a lot for this cache. It was like an adventure for us to reach the coordinates and find this cache after a long time without any log here. We came with a boat along Noosa River. It was really hot and after returning to the river we took a short "bath". We really enjoyed our boat tour to the Noosa Everglades and this lonesome cache.

After a canoeing/camping trip up the river to camp 3, we collected this cache before leaving to head home.
A nice little walk in, despite the brief rain shower.
Thanks for the cache Rover3.

Sunday. After we got back to Harry’s Hut (from collecting an earth cache the previous day), a group of us comprising NyssaFlutterby, Wombles&Co, and Que Sera (plus muggle friend) as well as Slow Puncture decided to collect this cache. There is no phone reception here and I hadn’t downloaded the caches in this area unfortunately, but luckily for us, we had a previous finder plus one of our group with a phone that did have reception so we managed to find this cache without too many problems. We did get rained on just as we signed the log. Both cache container and replacement log book are in excellent condition.
This was the 1st of 7 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Rover3***, for showing us this place.

Happened to be camping at Harry's so dropped in to check on the cash. All appears to be fine with a nice new log book in place.
What a terrific spot. Thanks for the cache. Box was a bit wet. Dried it out as best as we could.
The last time I came here was was 20 years ago with my dad. That day we took the tinny from Boreen Point, the motor blew up and we ended up having to row back from Harry's hut in a massive rain storm. Back then, there was no nice looking, paved out campsites or pathes. Everything was mud tracks and mozzies. Today I continued the trend and bought my own kids up here along with the wife and brother. We decided to do it the smart way though and climbed in the forby instead. Cach was in great condition. Tftc and a trip down memory lane.
Got to GZ and walked right pass it. +partner yelled out "is this it". Well hidden but obvious. Doh. Great spot to visit. Bring the aeroguard. TFTC
Dropped in while exploring with my amazing geo-partner taking the geocruiser on an adventure up Cooloola Way to Rainbow beach.
My amazing geopartner WallabyTim had wanted to bring me to Harry's hut for the past 18 months. Today was finally the day. On a cool winter's day, we set out in the geocruiser, with me being totally unaware of how bumpy the road in was going to be. It was well worth it though, to see the hut, the river and the quiet surrounds. That was until a tour boat arrived with a bunch of noisy city slickers. WallabyTim had found this cache previously, so while he deflated the tyres a little for a more comfy drive out, I set off to find the cache. A little scrub bash before the track and cache. Thanks for the smiley at such an iconic location.
Nice easy find while out this way for a picnic with geowife. All good with this cache.

While camping nearby with our group of Scout Leaders who were doing Canoe Training and Skills weekend, I stayed behind while they were off canoeing on the Noosa River.
About 400m from our camp, I walked to this cache the long way (as usual) and with trusty stick in hand, beat my way to GZ. Found the fire trail which would have made the walk in much easier.
Cache found easily and logbook signed and cache returned to its hide.
Great to see a big cache and lots of goodies. TNLN.

I sent the Geohubby and kids camping at Harry's hut for the week while I stayed home with the geohound.
The boys had a great time camping, swimming, fishing and canoeing.
Harry's hut is a beautiful spot that we have camped at numerous times and will continue to be a favourite spot.
The kids had a little difficulty finding the cache at first as they were learning how to use our new GPS unit, but once dad jumped in, the cache was found quickly.
Cache is in good condition and waiting for the next person to visit.

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which was to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. Having spent a few days in Sydney with Geocaching friends we flew to the Gold Coast and Lamington National Park for the start of the fourth leg of our travels. We are currently in Noosa and tomorrow we drive back to Brisbane for the flight to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
We briefly escaped from our tour group while lunch was being cooked, and dashed off to seek out this cache, which was a nice quick find at Ground Zero. Thanks so much for the cache!

Will have to return for this one as the gates were closed - maybe due to the impending bad weather.
Took a drive up to Harry's Hut today to check on this old cache, it's in remarkably good condition being 11 years old.
The logbook has been replaced, the original log is still in the cache to preserve some of the history but please sign the new one.
Restocked the swaps and put all the contents in a zip lock bag so it's safe during the floods.
Finally a quick touch up on the paint work, and replaced back in the bush for the next visitor.

We have just been to Tin Can BAy and Rainbow Beach, bounced our way down Cooloola Way to Harry's Hut. We wanted to show our Thai niece the changing beauty of the Australian bush. Here we were able to show the different colours of Banksia Robur.

Another of the very old caches in the area. Have always wanted to visit the area, and now I have.

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
We headed off today along with catscatscats22, Captain Terror and Fangsoki in the might Canyonero and headed north for a few caches. This one was first up on the list, so we headed off from the carpark towards GZ and soon made our way to GZ. A quick search of the area revealed the cache and we added our names to the logbook, before returning the trusty ammo can to its hiding spot [^] A great spot here by the creek, and it was great to see the hut not just from a computer screen

Lake Cootharaba and the Noosa River have always looked appealing but been a bit 'too far' to really explore. This is the second geocaching based trip up here for me now and I am quickly learning to love the region. I'd love to come back and camp here at Harry's Hut sometime - hopefully with a canoe in tow.
A small group of us had the day free, with no plans and wound up heading all the way up here for a few select geocaches. Fangsoki, Gaz'n'Kab, catscatscats22 and myself all boarded the mighty Canyonero, knowing 4WD might be required, although unlikely. I was thankful for this as I'd debated whipping up here myself in my 1999 Lancer. In hindsight, I would have been fine as the road in is just a bit bumpy and slower going.
Of course, we did have some navigational errors as Fang's TomTom tried leading us up all sorts of roads that didn't exist. One day we'll convert him to the Garmin side of life. My Oregon pointed us at Harrys Hut Rd beautifully.
During the drive we only had to give way to a convoy of Land Rovers of all years and models - about 10 of them. Only one goanna spotted. And then we arrived at the Hut. I'd seen photos, but it was something else to look at the structure in the flesh - or corrugated iron and read the information plaques. While the others checked out the creek I went bush and found a few remnants of skids and such among the trees.
Between five of us, the only one a) with a GPSr and b) with this geocache loaded was myself.
'Seriously.. what's wrong with you guys?'
And just like that it was up to me to lead the charge through the long grass and up a vague trail to GZ. No snakes or other wildlife and the ground dry. The ammo box, a handsome sight was found without any issues too. I think most of us managed to find a swap to play with as the logbook was handed around.
With it replaced and rehidden we piled back into the Canyonero, a little less gracefully and drove up to check out the campgrounds. I could easily see myself in my canoe, tent in the hold putting along this waterway sometime in the future. An excellent spot to visit and great to have a geocache to bring us here. Being a 2005 hide excited us, but we're now off, as suggested to find the Plantman geocache back up the road. Thanks for this geocache, GEOBLASK

This cache was placed 6 months after the last time I was at Harry's Hut. It was time to visit the area again.
Gaz'n'Kab, Captain Terror, Catscatscats22, and I all boarded the mighty Canyonero and made the trip north to this one.
The road is nothing like I remember. Nothing at all. I remember it being very very muddy and literally doing a 360 degree turn in my Subaru in the clay. Now it just feels very bumpy and rocky.
We finally pulled up at the hut - which I DID recognise. Captain Terror - being the only one among us to have the sound mind to bring the co-ordinates - led the charge in toward GZ. We soon found a handsome ammo can. We signed the log and re-hid the cache as found.
Very happy to get this cache - especially considering its age. It was in good condition. Also glad to be back in the area for a visit. We took some time to check out the hut and the campgrounds.

Out on an adventure with Daron.Baker and stopped by harrys hut and decided to check for a cache. Found one was there and had to grab it!! Thanks for the cache!
I had targeted this cache as well as another one in the area as they have been place for quite some time.
I did not know this area at all so I decided I would need to have a look at some maps to see where I had to go which is just as well because the trusty Navman did not know the area and was unable to calculate an appropriate route.
I ended up finding Harry's Hut Road which was quite muddy and full of pot holes after recent rains.
The forestry people are also harvesting the forest so there we log trucks, forestry workers and machinery to share the road with in my ordinary 2WD sedan.
After taking it steady, I arrived at Harry's Hut camping ground and entered the coordinates into the GPS as the phone could not obtain a signal here.
The GPS was very good at directing me to GZ. The ground was soft and damp from recent rains bur it was OK to walk over.
At GZ the cache was soon located, the log book signed at the cache replaced as found.
Despite its age, the cache is in good condition.

Up kayaking with friends on the 30th of last month and picked up this one. Such a lovely area. tftc
Awesome! Went the hard way to GZ as we couldn't find the fire trail but got there in the end!
Great to find a traditional Geocache deep in the bush! Really enjoyed finding this one. TFTC
Forgot to drop the trackable the first time I went so I just dropped it in this log.
This was a great find. Not only had I had a fabulous adventure in the Upper Noosa River but as it was drawing towards its end, I found a perfect traditional cache, and was shown how you can use the phone app when you have no network coverage.

Visiting with a group of scouting families, I picked up the travel bug to move it on
Found with CachingPikachu and revisited by others in our camping party. Wonderful couple of days at Harry's Hut with a big group of families. Some paddled, some bush walked, some camped - all enjoyed this beautiful location.....and many found this cache as an added bonus!
It was a quick find with Jacob_Barton_. I went back with CachingPikachu and Maggs2005 so they could log. I was camping at Harry's Hut and decided to find this cache, I loved the view of the glass like water on the river and the old hut. TFTC GEOBLASK!
Home for the weekend and decided to go for a drive with the wife to check out this area. It takes forever to get there but its great checking out the hut, the canoe launch and the designated camping areas once you are there. I checked the obvious spot very thoroughly and stepped over the container. My wife then told me where it was. She was always better at finding them than me.
Stopped off at Kin Kin for a late lunch on the way back. Like that little area very muchly.
Thanks GEOBLASK

Today we were visiting Harry's Hut for a kayak trip reccy, so we thought we'd go and find this one. Eminoz04 and I did a little bit of a bush bash (not quite so bad as the feral pigs that live in the area) and then stumbled on a handy trail. It is such a lovely part of the world - lots of the native wild flowers are out at the moment and we found some stunning red sundews, their little sticky droplets sparkling in the Winter sunshine. It didn't take us long to get to GZ and soon we had the cache open and the log book signed. TFTC GEOBLASK, we had fun searching for it
On the way to your cache we saw some really cool pig trails. I am really glad I did your cache!
Out on a fine morning with Orange Crew and aberosenstingel. It was such a beautiful morning to be on the water. Shady and cool but very little breeze to roughen the water. The Everglades in particular were just spectacular. This is a photographers paradise. Shame I had my phone locked inside an ammo tin to ensure it kept dry.
But no matter, I will remember this as a very worthwhile destination for a paddle in future. In fact, I have to be very thankful that we took Orange Crews dinghy up to retrieve this cache. Those that simply drive in to this one miss the best bits all together.

An early start today to make the most of our morning on the lake and up the creeks, piloting the mini tinnie with 5Meerkats and aberosenstingel as deck hands.
We wound our way up the river, with beautiful pitch black water acting like a mirror and reflecting all the big trees, just magic.
After getting out and stretching our legs, we had a look at the hut, then went back and forth, back and forth some more trying to find a suitable entry point for this one, before committing to a little bush bashing. Found in the end, the banksias sure do love this area, we do too. Thanks for showing us this area

Quick grab before walking into Harrys for the night. Nice easy find, kinda exposed so tried to stash it a bit more but I guess you gotta be looking either way. In good condition from memory. TFTC.
Started and Elander point with older brother and hiked up to harry's hut and back and pick this one up along the way

After a lovely paddle up the river from Fig Tree Point after lunch, we pulled up at the public jetty. Two tour boats were at the commercial jetty already with dozens of muggles heading off in canoes.
We've visited Harry's hut by car and boat before but not to find the cache. The others enjoyed afternoon tea while I headed into the swampy scrub. I could not find the fire trail until I was very close to the cache - it looks quite overgrown. The ground here is very churned up and muddy - I wonder if there are wild pigs??
Found the well stocked ammo box without too much trouble. Took pink power ranger, military insignia and breast cancer TB, left snake and domino.
Now for the paddle back to the Ranger's hut and sail back to our campsite at Boreen Point. (It was a slow trip back across the lake due to lack of wind so we arrived back after 6pm in the dark - quick showers and off to the Appollonian hotel for a yummy dinner)

Found it, well brother found it his 1st find I wonder if he will be hooked too;)
Today is day two of camping at Elanda and it is all about paddling. I set of nice and early from the Campsite and with two caches to hunt along the way it took me just under two hours to get to Harry's. I have been to Harry's a few times and by several modes of transport.
I think I might have had the whole place to myself when I arrived. I certainly did not see anybody. The first challenge was getting out of my ski at the dock. I was very happy to discover that there were rungs below the water that I could step out on to. [^]
A short walk back to GZ for a nice quick find. The cache is a bit battle scarred but the log book is in good condition. As I was walking back to the picnic are the rangers arrived to do some mowing. Nice timing being back on the proper track as they drove by.
I stopped for my morning cuppa and muffin before paddling back. The trip back was much easier going with the river flow and the tide. I was back at base in only an hour.
