A lovely walk down to Lake Wilkie and it's very pretty, even in the rain. Thanks for placing a cache here, easily found with the information provided. Nice boardwalk to allow a close view of the lake.

Found with Gazania Rigens as per her logMy 4000th!A beautifully peaceful stroll through this preserved forest and along the lake side, listening to and spotting (some of !) the native birds. The Tuis variations always a pleasure as is the ever-friendly attention of the fantail. TFTC

**Log about this cache:**A very nice short walk and a little bit of rain.Quick find!**General log:**After years of planning and the canceling of trip due to the corona crisis, the time had finally come: ***"more than 5 weeks in New Zealand"**.* And how beautiful it was! Visited both the north and south islands, many tourist attractions have a cache nearby so I could do some as well. Lots of virtuals and earth caches too and traditionals. But also done a few multi caches here and there also even a mystery and wherigo cache. The trip to New Zealand was great and we saw a lot of nice places. The country has so many different types of landscapes. And the nice thing was that it is winter in the Netherlands but summer in New Zealand Smile Too bad it takes so long to fly and that the flight is so expensive otherwise i can go here next year again. Now you can enjoy it, logging the caches is also part of it. I will try to email the answers for the earthcaches and virtual caches to the relevant co`s as soon as possible. But first log all caches and upload the photos .

There's close, there's very close and there's extremely close. This cache is the last of the three options. Logbook is a tad damp and needs a bit of TLC.TNLN. TFTC.

Day 5: The CatlinsOur journey today took us down to the Catlins for a whirlwind tour of all the sights we could squeeze into a day trip. Of course, there were geocaches to be had too, plus plenty of photos and sightseeing. Thankfully the weather held up for most parts today, so we could enjoy all the great scenery and the geocaches as well!(end of the cut and paste bit)Decided to make the lovely walk to the lake which was quite a nice workout for the partner. I headed in first to make this find, and managed to do so before the rest of the family caught up. Things are not looking too good in the cache, though, it could use some drying up. TFTC!

A lovely walk to this one. The container was a bit further away from GZ than expected, but the hint worked and it was found after some bending and peering. Good to claim this long standing cache, thanks Mcroni.

spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.

With mostly very nice Cool weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed

We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared Wink
So this box was also well found.

now I have another Smile on my personal cache card.

many thanks to [^] **Mcroni** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

Time to escape the madness for a bit well as long as we can and headed out to the east coast for a look and this one has been on my to do list for ever so to day we went on a mission to track it down and soon had the goods in hand and paper work completed and now continue our adventures.

Smile Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the DOC Papatowai campsite for a couple of days, exploring in & around the area … we went for a bit of a drive this morning & thought it would be rude not to check this cache out … had to wait for some ’muggles’ to leave the area … found with no issues, log completed & cache returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,169 for us.

Our first walk for the day and a really nice little one at that. As we walked down the track we took in the view at the lookout point and admired what a nice little lake this is. Didn't take to long to figure out where the cache was, all good here. TFTC.

08-Jan-22
Found while on a weekend away with Hevic as we explored the coastal Catlins. With the weather playing nice, we decided to drop in here and check out the lake. The walk around the lake area was very pleasant, especially when we came across an entire swarm of dragonflies. Interesting bit of learning near GZ, and the cache was easily found. Cheers!

Found with StreetWalkerNZ as we travel from Dunedin to Invercargill.
There was no other car in the large carpark when we arrived so we enjoyed the solitude of this lovely lake. SW found the cache (multi? what multi??) while I dawdled on the way down. By the time we returned to the carpark, several other cars were there. TFTC.

Out & about in The Catlins between Niagra Falls and Papatowai trying to locate the remaining caches that I want to sign off.

The wind was up a tad so no mirror-like photos today.

Cheers for the cache.

Day 8 of our South Island roadtrip & our last day in the Catlins. Today our travels took us to Waikawa, Curio Bay, Slope point & the Waipapa Point lighthouse before backtracking to Papatowai for dinner at the Perkes foodtruck & a few spots in between. We had the most awesome brunch at the Cafe in Niagara & enjoyed beautiful sunny weather & many stunning views!

The walk to Lake Wilkie is a lovely easy stroll

Cache was a bit further back from where I first looked, but was spotted once I had a peak underneath. All good here, TFTC Mcroni.

The 8th day of a South Island road trip for myself and RG1972 and our last day in the Catlins. Today we went to Waikawa, Curio Bay, Slope point and the Waipapa lighthouse before backtracking to our base via Papatowai and a few spots in between. We found a couple of great food options, some more golden sand beaches that we didn’t know the area was known for, and struck some nice weather again. All that and plenty of history and views, thanks all COs for highlighting and adding that extra special reason to visit these sites.

Cache 695 ️ nice chilly walk down to the lake this afternoon doesn’t look like the area has thawed out much today after this mornings mighty frost when I got to the lake it was half frozen and the boardwalk was totally white with frost, I stopped here as I didnt feel like slipping into the water just to do the full walk. Cache on the other hand was a nice quick find in excellent condition T4TC ️

Another multi that looked doable. Finally found this one after a good hunt around. Cheers. Great walk. Fav from me

Sunday 8 November. Left Zara resting at Niagara. Toby and I are off exploring again. Today its the Niagara - Fortrose loop, then off to Florence Hill to end the day. Lots of unpaved roads mostly in great condition just to keep Toby entertained. So lets go!!

Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Tenth day of a two week motorhome excursion, heading via the Coast to the lower South Island, picking up a few caches along the way – 14 today. Meandering through the Catlins today and seeing the sights along the way. Made hard work of finding this one. Spent several minutes searching close to the sign which is where our coords initially seemed to be indicating. After reading the description properly we concentrated on the area closer to the start of the boardwalk and, at that point, didn’t take long to come up with the goods. #3376. TFTC.

A fairly old cache I was wanting to get on my travels. An empty carpark was a bonus, so we strolled down to the lake and while the kids played around I made the find. Beauty spot, cheers

Together with TEMBO! I had a really interesting geocaching-trip today. We could find some geocaches, met some locals and had a great talk to them.
Concerning this geocache I want to say thanks because we had much fun in searching and finding this geocache! The cache made our trip even more interesting!

We are in New Zealand for 10 Weeks, enjoying our parental time together with our little daughter.
We are already in the 7th week and our trip is slowly going to its end. At the moment we are in the nice, wild and untouched area of the Catlins.

The lake is a nice and quiet little place, but unfortunately the storm was too strong so that had waves on the water and no mirroring on it.

Found it together with Sinlkid

Heading down the coast through the Catlins to Invercargill to spend a few days with Ruru_NZ but we need to find a few caches that I haven't cleaned up on the first trip I did down here. Won't get all of them but will do as many as possible.

How wonderful to be in the bush again. What how do we get round that puddle - go through of course and try to keep feet as dry as possible. Bit of wind on the lake meant no reflections. Had to wait for a group of muggles to move away again as we doubled back to recheck the gz - it's out as previously mentioned by other cachers by about 18m.

15-Oct-19
Met up with KCN in Dunedin, and making our way back to Invercargill over the next few days. Mostly picking up gaps in her finds here in the Caitlins leaving others for me to get another day. Like the way that the boardwalk takes you through the stages of forest growth.
Like others, we searched for a while before expanding, then needed to get off the boardwalk to retrieve. 13 was my count if that helps others. Tree is very close and cache should now be able to be retrieved without leaving walk now. A bit damp inside, but logbook OK.
Thanks for the smilie Mcroni.

Like the previous had to wait for muggles taking photos. The lake was still and the reflections superb. Had a good look but no joy. Expanded search and found it 20m from gz.

Ten days off in a row for the price of two leave days, how fabulous! Packed up the whanau for an adventure and headed south. Our original plans were slightly thwarted by water, but we made the trip into an adventure tikitour with a few caches along the way. Signing the logs as Team Polak or TP for brevity. Great fun, thanks to all the CO’s for the entertainment!!
Very nice little walk, TFTC!!

11-Apr-19
I enjoyed the walk to this cache site where I encountered some muggles who were taking photos and in apparently in no hurry to move along. I waited and waited and then, when the opportunity finally arose, moved into where I thought the cache would be. It wasn't and I was rather embarrassed to soon discover I could have easily gotten to the cache in the first place without the muggles having any influence.

21-Mar-19
A lovely walk and wow the reflections on the lake are as good as Lake Matheson. What a beautiful place. Took photos untill family went past then when clear we looked for the cache. Found and signed log. Thanks for this Mcroni.

This cache was quickly discovert. Than we enjoied the view. The lakes were much mor reflective than the Mirror Lakes (which we visited on a windy day)
Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache!

Since we were too early for the Cathedral Caves we continued to Lake Wilkie.

We really enjoyed this little walk. The lake was more reflective than the Mirror Lakes near Milford Sound (where it was very windy when we visited).

Feeeeeee discovered the hiding place very quickly.

Thanks for this Cache!

Beautiful vista over this lovely lake, very tranquil, with flitting swallows, darting over the lake, hunting. Ambience occasionally interrupted by loud tourists, as we took some time to locate the cache. Coords off by about 15m, but the description combined with hint got us there in the end. We enjoyed the extra time, and no need to get your feet wet, or damp at all. TFTC

Managed to grab the last available place in the carpark. Luckily I passed almost everyone on their way back so there was only two people down at the lake when I arrived. They were well out of sight and preoccupied looking intently at the harakeke. Found the cache in the first place I checked which is always a bonus in such a busy spot. TFTC and ensuring I visited this lovely little lake. # 11,986

Strange understanding of the cache type "multi"... and as the coords seemed to be a fair bit off the description it took us some time - but we finally found it Smile

11-Jan-18
Not sure to which guidelines the chosen cache type should comply to these days and it took ReCached and me quite a while to spot the container. Felt like it was rather around 10-15 metres away from the posted coordinates. It's a nice little walk and definitely worth the visit. TFTC Mcroni!

Lake Wilkie is a good place to stop. It lies peacefully between its trees, many Ratas were already blooming in bright red. It was well worth to go down, not only because of the cache.
We were the only ones here, so I didn’t need to use stealth when searching. Which helped a lot with the search.
Thanks for the cache at this nice szop and best wishes from Germany.

Ein interessanter Multi mit nur dem Final, das wir aber problemlos und unbeobachtet gefunden haben.
