We were in the area after a Man and Boy vs Wild expedition so had a bit of a look seeing it appears in our GPS. No luck, and now see it hasn't been found in a couple of years....
Came, poked about in the waist high grass and thistles for a time, but found no hidey place on the steep bank, not too far from the water, which was a bit intimidating.
Shan't be back for another look.
The area has been transformed since my last visit some years ago, with pleasant landscaping and defined picnic and camping areas, grass is neatly mowed where accessible.

Add our name to the list of those who DNFd it. We tried years ago without success so did not spend too much time today
In the area but lacked the time due to snow onset to have a look. Will be back here in December and will have a go at maintaining then.
We were here so we had a look but didn't try too hard with all the DNFs.Glad we came tho'.
I tried for this cache too - should have seen the DNFs. No such luck.
We did talk to some 'locals' having a blat on their bikes.

Well this is certainly a nice spot to come to. It is well set up for picnics and relaxing. We did have a good hunt around GZ for the cache but no luck for us today!!
Mama was competing in the Mahinerangi Madness 18km walk which started a few metres from GZ. With a delayed start Papa decided to have a look for the cache and bumped into Daywalk who were also looking for it. Three pairs of eyes looking and hands poking in nooks and crannies had no luck. After race start Papa and Guwapo had another look, also without success, then had another look later on with Mrs Daywalk - still no luck!!
Yep, we agreed that GZ was the big pine stump. Previous logs suggest that the coordinates must be reasonably accurate, and terrrain 2 rules out scrambling. I think we ended up making a lot of holes in the area a good bit larger, the number of times we felt around inside them! Luckily the rest of the day was more successful- when Mr Daywalk took off biking, the Transport Bunny went off and did some other Mahinerangi caches.
Had given up on this one when I spotted something out of the corner of my eye and there it was! Very well hidden. TFTC!
No luck with this one today.
GPSr accuracy was never better than 7m and we had three pairs of eyes on the hunt. But to no avail.
We'll be back some other time for another go.
Thanks for the Hunt, if not the cache.

I found it eventually, just as I was about to give up, and just before a heavy shower passed over. It was a bit too well hidden for my taste though.
We looked for this unsuccessfully nearly three years ago. The location has certainly changed since! The trees have gone, as has most of the bank we searched last time, including gibler's 30 "obvious places". We eventually found it this time, the coordinates actually being pretty accurate. It was so snug in its hiding place, it took some effort to extract it. There was a fisherman very near by, but we managed to avoid his scrutiny, we hope. TFTC
Could not find this cache. It looks like the maintenance crew might have taken this one out. If there were trees where it is stashed, they are no longer there! The tree stumps look recently cut and the ground torn up, so I'm guessing the cache might have been destroyed. Please confirm. I have a picture of the spot if I can figure out how to post it to the gallery, or if the owner of the cache would like to see photo of current status.
Was up here visiting friends, who were camping, so took them with us when we went to find the cache. When we got to the location and could see the trees had been recently logged, I was a bit worried about the cache, but one of the friends soon found it in its hiding spot all safe and sound. Great spot for a day trip, or to stay a few days.
Thanks
Thanks
A quick find for the Year 9 portion of the geodogz.
Note: this is a perfection place (sadly) to practice some CITO - we removed a full black rubbish sack of rubbish.

Nice place apart from what Stegan said! Found while on School camp! Found quickly. No. 2 of 3 for 3 days with the JMGC! TFTC Was within 50m of where i was sleping!!! lol!
A great place the water was very low today, turned on the caching brain and it was easy TFTC
Took ages to find after looking in around 30 "obvious" places. Eventually found it after about the third time of just trying to follow my GPSr. Not where I would have hid it, that's for sure.
A few muggles were around but thankfully I was out of view.

Lovely spot, fanastic structure! Found the cache fairly easily, even though it was well inside it's hidey spot. Thanks.
Found it on a beautiful day out picnicing with family - better luck this time from last time I looked for this one.

Would be an awesome place for a picnic but just too far away to go too regularly

Took a little while to find, the terrain rating have it away in the end after a second sweep of the right area. When we where on the dam the turbine was started up, quite exciting for the techhead in Stephen.
Took the wrong road after leaving the picnic area, so backtracked and got to the dam.Poked around for some time and found the cache in a difficult place, last one for the day. TN-LN.
Found after an extensive search. As you say Mcroni, steep bank & near the water.Looks a popular recreation area.Trail bike riders and hunters [?pig hunters]there at time of our visit.TN/LN
Looked really hard for this one - GPS coords were within (5m accuracy) but although we looked hard we couldn't find it. Oh well next time maybe
Lake was quite low, and the cache was straightforward. Have earmarked this spot for a picnic in summer ...

Really nice cache...beautiful spot. Want to come back for a picnic one day. Found with Jettman. Left a whitsle-compass-thermometer. Thank you for the reason to come somewhere new...
We were impressed. Lots of muggles...but good to see so many around on such a great day. Found with "Let me thru..."
a cool crisp morning find, came in from the right angle and saw the glint of the container, + metal tag, - rocket
7:30pm - 9th find today, and 3rd find for this cache today! Neat spot, and an interesting view in the dark! REALLY starting to get cold, and the grass was starting to freeze up. Time to hurry on home, but one to do!
TNLN, Thanks, Mike.
TNLN, Thanks, Mike.
This cache was only 50 mters away from where we were parked while we were in the Wenita hunting block. So we had a quick search on our way out from a morning hunt. We took a horse and left a fishing lure - a great place to use it!
Found this cache at 15:00 took a while to find, there were 4 of us hunting for this one, and Joy found it just as we had decided that it must have been removed. Good fun and an excellent cache.
Still and fine here but cold. The snow along the sides of the road between The Connection cache and this one was quite deep. Took a few minutes to locate the container. Good hiding spot. Nice place to come for a picnic in summer. Another surprise to be FTF given the cache has been in existence for over a week. TNLN. TFTC.
Well this one had us stumped, checked all the holes, then Bruce and Joy turned up caching as well so we started looking agin.. we were about to give up when joy yell found it... wee have all looked there before but not quite far enough.....
