Logs
Visited today and confirmed it was missing. Replaced with a sistema container closer to the coordinates. Hint updated. New log book and swag.
I agree I think this cache has been muggled. I followed the clues searched and searched and looked at other pillars nearby and on the other side but no luck today. Might need a check before I return. Thanks Quasar. Great views by the way
Had the lookout to myself, but I must be totally blind as I failed to follow the hint and locate the cache
I found #1 cache several years ago, and noted the coordinates for #2, but the #2 GZ was back the way I had travelled from, and it was a very hot day, so I decided not to retrace my steps. In the meantime, I managed to loose the coordinates for #2, so a return visit to #1 was needed. With coordinates in hand, it was off to #2, where the cache was found quickly and easily after a short search. Excellent.
Some lovely views of the city on the path up to this one. Even though it was blowing a gale it was still enjoyable. I misinterpreted the hint initially but after righting the wrongs my name was soon in the fresh log. Thanks for keeping this golden oldie alive.
Checked on this one while I was up here. The container has stood up for 18 years but it is time to retire, being rusty, falling apart with no lid. Replaced the missing log book, and a whole new plastic container from the Whittlesea Mega. Good to find again, coords and hint unchanged. Coords are in the replaced "Population Growth #1: Find your Quarry".
I actually thought the cache was garbage as it was out in the open, but on turning it, found the trusty logo I was looking for.
There was no log so I have added one in a ziplock bag, replaced to match the hint so hopefully does not get muggled!
Tftc, the signs are interesting here.

Found It!
I continued walking up the hill to this one after finding #1. The wind got even stronger and I got to watch a storm move over the city to the south. Then found the cache and realised the storm was about to arrive here to. So then had a quick run back to the car but still got rather wet.

November 2022. Time for the second Victorian Mega of the year. This time in Whittlesea. What is it with W's? Time for another epic road trip. Who will join our merry crew? We traveled from South Australia and camped in the pig pen. It rained. It blew. It was sunny. It was not sunny. All four seasons. Beautiful location and some awesome caches.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.
Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

A nice find in the suburbs today, cache found and is all good
This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Freddo, team Waldron, e.gregory1 and Davidwazza as part of our team called: ‘Aussies on Tour’, the log books were either signed with the name, AOT or our individual caching names.
A great weekend away and a very well organised mega despite the horrible weather thrown at us we still managed to find quite a few caches
Thanks for the cache

This weekend, it was a flight and trip down to Melbourne to attend The Whittlesea 2022 Mega Event. I arrived on Thursday evening and had accommodation in Mill Park, which was a good strategic location between Whittlesea and Melbourne. I joined a few South Aussie friends as part of the “Aussies on Tour” (AOT) team, which consisted of e.gregory1, Freddo, gridge98, and Team Waldron.
Several geocaching series were completed, which included the Commonwealth Star Series (CSS), Whittlesea Puzzles for Beginners, Whittlesea Event Gadget Trail (WEGT), Whittlesea Challenge Wander (WCW), and the Whittlesea Compass (TWC). In addition, we targeted uncommon cache types, rare/unique D-T combinations, older caches and those with high Favourite Points. It was great to have visited Victoria's two 2000 hidden geocaches too (Victoria's 1st (Melbourne's 1st) and Devil Bend).
We were treated with great weather for the first couple of days, but then it deteriorated from Saturday afternoon with rain storms and high winds overnight and on Sunday.
After finding Population Growth #1, we decided to continue our walk along the trails, taking us in a direction that wasn't too unexpected. An appropriate second cache location, with a very cool location too. I had this lookout to myself whilst searching for the cache, and it wasn't long before we found it. The cache container appeared to be squashed with no lid, and hence perhaps unsurprisingly, the logbook looks to have been water damaged (but actually dry today). The logbook was stamped with our "Aussies on Tour" stamp / noted as AOT to save logbook space. Thanks Quasar for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 06/2006 hidden cache.

Found while in the area to attend the Mega Event at Whittlesea.
Today I joined up with Team Waldron, Freddo, gridge98 and Davidwazza as we made our way to Whittlesea and targeted caches of interest. All caches were signed or stamped 'A.O.T.'
Thanks Quasar for the puzzle and the cache.

Thanks for the cache! Special thanks to whoever stuffed the plastic spider in there and scared the crap out of us
Never seen one of these containers, really cool how it just looks like a chip packet or something from above!
Never seen one of these containers, really cool how it just looks like a chip packet or something from above!
I found it with ease due to the great hint but there was no way i was signing it, tin was crushed and a big black spider has called it home, maybe time for a replacement
Fantastic view from all shelters on the climb up to Population #2, the showers dampened my spirits a little but onward and upward to GZ where I found the cache where I thought it would be. I put the log in a plastic zip bag as it was a little damp but great to go. I'll be glad to get back to the start. Thanks Quasar for your cache and giving me a great workout.

I am currently working on completing *sharkiefan's* **Mystery Cache Monthly Challenge**... that's 30 Mystery caches in 30 days! Currently at 23 for 22 days, I am doing OK but my stock of "solved Mystery caches" near home has run out so everything requires a bit of a drive...
The weather wasn't fantastic but it didn't look like rain so I decided to drive over here for this cache... I parked outside the park because the car park is closed due to vandalism and set off... a couple of hills and one cache later I arrived at GZ. My initial searching was unsuccessful so I resorted to the Hint... and discovered that the "accurate GZ" that looked right was out by enough to have me looking in all the wrong places. Once set right, the poor old beaten up cache was an easy find...
Thanks **Quasar** for keeping this old cache going.

I had already claimed "Population Growth #1" on a walk back in March.
Before setting off to claim this one, I read the most recent log entries.
I decided to take a quick look at "Population Growth #1" to see if the details for solving the final coordinates are still there. They are.
The container for this cache is not in very good condition.
Thanks for the cache Quasar.

I think the coordinates for solving this one are long gone, but fairly obvious where the cache is. The can serves its purpose but is otherwise demolished. A great view though!

Find #4364
Mystery Find #795**
I setout with SteMicMitSar to complete a recently published Wherigo as well as find other caches of interest, in particular those that have been nominated for the 2019 COTY Awards and also caches published during or before 2005. Part 2 of this pair of caches. Great views to be had from GZ but the cache has seen better days. The lid is missing and the log is damp.
**Thank-you to Quasar for placing this geocache**

*Found on the 16 Feb 2020 @ 11:49 am.*
*Cache find # 10725.*
I headed out today with biggles1024 to find a few caches.
Today was mainly about a Wherigo cache, COTY nominated caches and members of the first 500 Victorian caches with a couple of others thrown in for good measure.
After finding #1, we now had the coordinates for this one so how could we not go and find it.
A bit more exercise was had and we arrived at GZ, after a short search, Mark located the cache which had seen better days, the log was signed and the cache replaced, we then had a bit more of a look around.
**Thanks to Quasar for placing this cache.**

I was out hunting cache owners starting with the letter Q and Quasar fitted the bill. I was on a business down from Sydney and i took the time out after dinner to come and grab this one. Unfortunately the log is saturated i managed to scratch my name in the book ( please see photo)
Thanks Quasar for the placement Cheers

Loved this spot. It was a great hike up to GZ. The views are spectacular even on a cold, rainy spring day. Cache is missing a lid and log book is moldy but dry. Thank you so much for bringing me here today and for placing this cache. This one deserves a favorite point from me.
Did a very thorough search of the GZ, found a water bottle with rubbish in what was the hinted spot, fear it may have been Muggled.
Out and about tonight with Trailstevo, thought we were in for a nice easy stroll and then we found ourselves hiking up the hill to Eagle lookout. Was a great view from up there. Then strolled down through the housing estate and finished the evening off with a couple of drivebys. Thanks for the fun evening outing.
Out with Gunks. Nightcaching. Some great views and quick finds. It was my night to shine with some of them. Thanks for the caches.
Following on from the companion trad I went for a little walk I'm glad I took the COs advice and walked instead of drove. It was far more rewarding.
Although the container has seen better days (lid anyone) the logbook is still serviceable although showing signs of mould and is very damp. A new sistema would be perfect and although the authenticity of the original cache will be lost, well, frankly it isn't doing it's job in keeping the logbook dry.
For future finders, the manual correction of the seconds is pretty accurate although still about 8m out when I visited. The hint is perfect.
Oh, did I mention the views? Even better than the previous cache as the sun added a lovely red tinge to the view.

Moved on to this cache next. Yesterday I had no joy and contacted a previous finder. That confirmed what I was looking for.
Today I found the remnants of the old container. The logo was still intact but no lid I am afraid.
Further along I found the old log book. Wrote my name on it and took photos as proof.
Returned it according to the clue. Will need to be checked though.
Thanks for the hunt and those fantastic views here.

Couldn't find this one. The clue seems pretty precise but that didn't help me today. Nice spot though!
Found this one after a little looking around and resorting to the hint. We were looking where it wasn't or vice versa... SLTN Left my tag and something for the kids. TFTC
Found with help from posums and an earlier cache. Fairly clear once I was at the right gz. TFTC.
Got up early to beat the heat and to find a few caches before retreating back to the aircon at home.
After getting what was required to find this one, I set off with a set of coords and soon reached GZ. Located the cache which was on the ground and placed it back to where I thought it belonged.
Another great view from up here and all of the houses that are slowly taking over.
A favorite goes out to you for placing this cache in a wonderful area.
Thanks Quasar TFTC.

Took the short cut, quite a steep hike,
amazing views of melbourne & surrounds,
a good spot to watch a thunder storm roll in. Tnsl.

After visiting Population Growth #1, we had what we needed and arrived at this caches GZ. It is amazing how you can search and search before you finally go ah! Nice work making the container very much a geocache container. The cache also was on the ground so, like another logger, put it back up. Seems like it might be prone to fall, but still out of sight... Another great spot. Thanks,

Well it's finally Mad March Mystery Month for me and the count is now climbing towards at least 31 mystery caches for the month, hopefully. Solved the puzzle some time ago, way back about 15 minutes ago.
Amazing views, what can I say, well nothing, lest I give the game away...

I love going to places I've been before, and finding a cache there. Today's trip had the additional perk of a sunset. Great hide, tftc!
Thanks for bringing me to an area I haven't explored before. Fantastic views in every direction and lots more walks to do.....I'll be back Gets a favourite from me.
TFTC and for replacing it since I last looked for it. It was laying on ground when I found it so put it up where I think it should go, hopefully it is the right spot
After attempting this one a while ago and coming up empty handed it seemed a perfect day to return and try again since the cache has been enabled again due to the maintenance of the CO recently. So it was a case of another long walk to the gz and this time the cache was quickly located and logged. I must admit the views from this area are spectacular I can see why this area is booming with houses. Thanks Quasar for the cache and the exercise, if thats what they call when you are left short breathed with burning legs and sweat drenched shirt. TNLN.
All fixed and replaced with a new container, log book and contents. Much the same spot as before. Coordinates unchanged.
MAINTENANCE REQUIRED?
[navy] Perhaps it is time for the CO to check on this one please.
I am temporarily disabling it so as to stop it showing up on search lists and to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.
Your prompt attention to logs that indicates things could be amiss will be greatly appreciated by all geocachers. It is generally accepted that 3 consecutive DNF's is reason enough to check, see here http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance
Please respond to this situation by 17th January to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.
And don't forget, please log an "Owner Maintenance" log, see here; http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404 and an "Enable Listing" log, see here; https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 to get your cache up and running again.[/navy]

Three geokids and I were all over that spot, crawling under everything looking for the 'quality swaps' and hoping to bag a mystery cache for the road trip souvenir. Four disappointed hunters today, but a happy Mum that her kids got plenty of fresh air and walking.
Cold weather kept the muggles away this time. Had a good look, 2 possible coordinates, 1 is in a paddock marked as private property, second alternative matches text description. Can't find the cache though.
Muggle there the whole time were there, had a quick look while muggle had a cigarette and took a phone call but couldn't see it, will have to come back again.
I found the co-ord's and hint from PG #1 and on reading recent logs thought that I had the right area, I got down low as a snake and searched and searched and still came up empty handed. It was a pity because I don't venture out this way too much but I suppose I will have to return and enjoy the walk another time and try again. Thanks anyway Quasar.
Needs a correction the the coordinates! Found the coordinates from #1 but they were to a point in a paddock on private property. Went back to #1 and checked; someone had added a note which led me to the correct coordinates and an easy find then. You need to add '5' to the second digit in the East bearing in the given coordinates in the log for #1
This cache has been on my to do list for years. At one stage waaaaaaay long ago it was the closest unfound Mystery/Unknown to me but no longer. This morning it was #42 on the list [B)]. This cache reminds me of the Exponential Growth of cache placement as well as population but they do go hand in hand don't they?
Cheers Quasar, thanks for showing me a spot I'll be bringing the family back to.
Cheers Quasar, thanks for showing me a spot I'll be bringing the family back to.
A long walk uphill but a good walk to get the heart pumping, cache took me a few looks but soon found , thanks for making me walk here, a great view , TFTC
Took me a while to reach it, not sure if an animal moved it but I needed to find a really long stick to knock it closer. Now to go home and wash the kangaroo poo away haha.
Was showing my daughter's friends caching on both hills and took TB to moove it on where it will be groovin.
The Hills are alive with Muggles. Waited for a group of Muggles to go and found cache very exposed. Looked inside and found TB from Population Growth #1. Took TB and continued on with my walk.
Picked up the coordinates from its mate on the way past and struggled up the slope against a strengthening breeze. Great view to the east and south but there was rain closing in from the northwest. Found after a short search. Thanks.
Looked for this back in May, with no GPS and not much experience. With a little bit more info and a GPS, I attempted this again early on a Friday morning. Even though it was overcast, I still had some magnificent views. After searching in quite a few of the obvious places, I tried some of the not too obvious ones. Then it came into view. Phew, what a relief. Log signed, returned to its original position, then onto the platform to read the signs and enjoy the view. Thanks Quasar. Fantastic spot.
Found after gaining the required information from near by cache. Certainly was a lovely view on the stroll to cache and at GZ. Dropped TB. tftc.
Had a lot of rain last night, pup was getting cabin fever so took him for a walk. Checked both caches while up here all OK.
Could not find it!! We looked and looked for ages!!! We even changed a 4 to a 9 as per the note in the Population Growth #1 log book, but still nothing. Very disappointed.
Now that I'm back home it is showing attributes as "Needs Maintenance". Does this mean its not there?

Thanks to Riddell for the maintenance on the previous cache, keeping these coordinates alive. The views from both spots were fantastic, on a clear day I could see so many recognisable landmarks in every direction. I think that caching has helped me to get bearings on the size of Melbourne, the next thought that scares me is that we're just 1 average sized city taking up next to no space in the corner of an immense globe.
Getting back down to earth! I could see the rain clouds slowly rolling in, the rain was somewhat welcome as the hot day could do with a bit of cooling down. I only saw 1 other person while I was up on the hills, an attractive lady passing me by just as I got back to the carpark. Thanks for picking out some cool hiding spots all those years ago Quasar.

Out again with SanguineDragonflye, doing the whirlwind around South Morang this time. This was find #3 of 7.
Once we found the first cache, getting to this one was child's play. Almost got too distracted by the breathtaking view, but then the wind picked up and it began threatening to rain so we scooted away soon afterwards.

Again, stunning views, and I even found a treasure that I'm still wearing there. Replaced it with something nice
The clue from amygvsl made this one an easy find on the second pass.
I wonder what the view would have been like before trashed for so called Human needs.

Second time searching for this one. Got some hints from Ian and we found this one quickly with a " I swear I searched this spot last time" comment. Thanks for the cache. The views are pretty amazing.

Well, I thought, I'm up here, the second cache is not too far away, and the rain front that I can see across to the west should give me just enough time. And for once, it did.
Walking faster to get my hands to change to a healthier shade of blue, I headed for the newly entered coordinates (by the way, choose the higher of the two possible digits). By the time I got there, I was nice and toasty.
The view from these two cache sites is fantastic... even in these rapidly worsening conditions.
Pausing only to snap a photo of the city skyline before it disappeared behind the approaching rain, I headed back down the trail before an exhilirating descent to the car... arriving just as the rainstorm hit, putting paid to any more caching for the day.
I wanted to try and get a bit of exercise sometime today... done, in spades.
Thanks to the CO for the caches, the view and the workout, and special thanks to the kind cachers who have donated replacement logs and containers to this pair.

Had found #1 in early march but never took any notice of this. Had to return to #1 to get the answers then proceeded to here to claim this one. Worth the walk but saw no eagles at gz. TFTC.
Found @ 18:30. Been to this one numerous times, but this time came armed with better information. It was within 2 metres of GZ, but we had to sit and watch the view for 15 minutes before the muggles decided to leave. Soon retrieved, swapped some swag, and happily signed the log. Be patient and use your eyes.

As a follow up to #1 in this series this was no let down with a very good walk to get to GZ. JosieY put her hand on the actual cache first but we both had an enjoyable five minutes admiring the views and doing the other things to do around here while a pair of young lovers hovered about.
Got the co-ords and was happy when I figured out where GZ was. I had visited this area earlier this year and knew the view was a cracker. Some muggles looked like they wanted to hang around and canoodle but we managesd to intimidate them back onto their mountain bike (not really). Then we got down to the job of cache finding in earnest. I soon made the pick up and we signed quickly then ran back down the hill before the carpark closed. A nice little series. Thanks Quasar.
After some help.... found this time... a brisk walk up the hill in a chilly wind, then had to wait for other walkers to leave. I was looking in the right spot last time, even saw the little hand made cairn. Thanks Quasar, and thanks Ian (riddell) for the clues to help me find this cache.
Even with help from the help desk, could not find today. might wait for another find then head back up.
We went for a walk in the pouring rain, searched for an hour (hit both the 4 and 9 just in case) but didn't see anything. Disappointed and cold
Awesome view though!

Pretty sure I wrote the coordinates down wrong Had a good look around and will go back to make sure I get the correct coordinates next time. Was raining and freezing up there today!
Suprisingly it took me three walks up the mountain to eventually find this cache, with some considerable help from the owner! I thought I'd searched the area it was in, but alas I hadn't. Still, they were quite enjoyable walks up the hill and I got a bit of study done on those walks
Big thanks to Quasar for going out of your way as you did.

Pretty sure I have the coordinates correct, and pretty sure cache isn't here. I'll search again when I see a couple of founds!
