In Auckland for a few days for my daughter's wedding tomorrow. This was close to our Airbnb, so I popped out for a short walk, collected the information, then wandered around to GZ for a quick find. Took TB. A pleasant reserve to visit. TFTC.

That was a fun multi cache!

It brought us to two really nice areas!

Thanks for showing us the hidden gems!

18-Jun-19
Found this with Chris8XM after he solved it. Not too hard to find but the container was covered in mud and some bugs. Only a log in here so we left a pen and treasures for the next finder. Thanks for the find

Apologies for the late log, I was just going through some caches in a C:Geo DB and realized this hadn't been logged..

Up in Auckland after being in CHCH for the festive season, I wanted to grab a cache or two to go towards my Jazmer challenge. This being one! Quickly located the answers and had a final location nearby. Originally started looking high, making it harder than I needed to... if I had of looked at the terrain rating I should have realized the error of my ways... Anyway I soon worked it out the hard way, and quickly made the find.

Many thanks for keeping this multi going. The board was quite an interesting read. Cache in good condition, signed sealed and returned!

22-Jun-18
An interesting read, easy clue gathering & solve, and nice area for final. Cheers for the old cache sp8sm8

After my Training I had still some time so I used the rain break to drive to Grey Linn and grab some Geocaches.
That was the main reason driving to Grey Linn, because the hidden month was still missing in my matrix. So I went to the start and looked for the required information. Wasn't hard to find but I made a mistake with calculating the final coordinates, my result seemed to be wrong. Another try was more successful so I went to the final Point and started looking. Not easy to find, but finally I got it.
Thanks for hiding!

A quick multi. We got to see some ducks near the GZ. Thanks!

10-Dec-17
Adding a multi to our finds today. Quick and easy one! Also found some ducks near the cache. Tftc Smile

I thought I had done this multi then realised it was the other one eith a similar name, nice quick multi, really love that building, noone around so was able to have a good look. Cache was quickly retrieved, dried out, new waterproof log left. Existing contents soaked and rusty so were disposed off.

I had the day off and as the weather forecast wasn't too bad I decided I was going to get some of these New Lynn multis done. An interesting history to this place and was obviously popular with tour groups. Unfortunately one of the elderly people had collapsed during their tour so I waited til the ambulance had taken her away before getting the information I needed. Then I set off for GZ and then went "what, surely I don't need to go there'! I rechecked my numbers and discovered I had been dyslexic entering 2 of the numbers into my gps. I corrected that and a short while later I had the cache in hand. The container was full of water and the log book sodden as it's plastic bag hadn't been sealed. Unfortunately I couldn't replace the log as I didn't have my caching bag with me.

3120 This one was a mission to get. Getting the co-ords was the easy part. I parked up and walked over to GZ to find 3 guys sitting there. Stopped and said hello and they ]looked like they were going to be there awhile. Went further and then came back and passed by again. So off I went and did some other caches and came back. They had gone but a new one had taken up residence.
Back today (After watching the Blues beat the British Lions) to find the GZ free. So I quickly shot in and grabbed the cache. Unfortunately the container was full of water. Managed to get a signature on the saturated log book. Placed it back in its place and left while the area was free of muggles. Thanks for the placement.

First cache after many worlds over being separated, the k&d thirsty scenario is off to a solid start back at it. TFTC and enjoyable minigame

10-Nov-16
Visited the waypoint on Tuesday to get the information needed to work out the co-ordinates, but didn't venture out to retrieve the cache until today. Good hide, and in great condition. TFTC Smile

13-Aug-16
Finished work, and before the sun disappeared went out to find my closest multi to home. My first calculations where off, so went towards the wrong place, but I did find some ducks along the way. After seeing the error of my ways, with a recalculation I at last made my way to GZ. Thanks for the clever hide and multi Big Grin

23-Jun-16
I really liked the building and the diagram that showed how the hot air was made to go downwards through the bricks to fire them. The cache find was straightforward. TFTC.

Been avoiding multis because I worry I'll get stuck half way through but am finally taking a few more on (though I was right about getting lost half way through sometimes). This one took me to a couple of interesting spots, the old kiln and GZ was in a nice area too. Managed to scone myself on a bolt while looking in completely the wrong place but in the end decided to look where I would put one, and hey presto, there it was. Signed the log and off we went. TFTC.

Gradi3nt solved this geocache(and later when I had time so did I). We found it on our second attempt in the area, as last time it had two Russian teenagers talking away on a nearby bench. Thankfully the homeless looking guy asking for smokes walked away and we could find the cache in peace. An old box, but no wonder seeing how long the cache has been around. Never knew this brick kiln was here, so was cool to see it and learn of its history. Look out for the local trolleys all around the place! TFTC Razz

Yes,

A few milestones today, first time we've found a cache on Xmas day and another requirement for the GIO license obtained and longest consecutive streak for us.
Nice and dry, thanks for the history and the cache. TNLNSL

#385 Headed off to get a haircut with GeoBoy today, left a little early to grab a couple of caches nearby before the fight with the scissors. I had solved the basics on this a while ago after collecting all the data answers and solving back at home. GeoBoy found this one when I pointed out rough location. Forgot pen so took it back to car and signed there. Cleaned out rubbish in cache and returned.

M2 & B decyphered the description while M & R investigated the Historic Building. M came back suggesting it would make an awesome dinner venue, just add a long table, plenty of candles some great catering and awesome friends! Hmm, I wonder...
After locating the cache GZ, M& R were scrambling all over the place when B calmly walks upto the cache that was lying in plain sight! Added some more swag and left the cache better hidden (in the same location, just not in sight anymore). TFTC!

02-Nov-15
Nice weekday afternoon caching in the area. Most people were busy doing their own thing. A nice quiet part of town. The co-ords were quickly calculated. TFTC.

Grew up in this general area and had not visited the brick kilns before.

Initially we were slightly confused with hint, then the next moment we got it and grabbed the hiding cache. TFTC

14-Aug-15
I have been meaning to complete this cache for ages now. Today with all the stars aligned I was able to make the final to this cache. Near GZ I had to wait out a veeeery slow walker with her 2 dogs. But being the ever impatient cacher I am I was able to wait her out while pretending to admire the scenery. Cheers for the cache! Amazing brickworks.

Tftc enjoyed working this out and searching for it.

06-Jun-15
We needed a cache today to fill in a dot day on our calendar matrix, and were in the area today, so decided to check out this multi. Wouldn't have even know this historic site was here if it weren't for caching! Very cool! Soon worked out the co-ordinates, and quickly made the grab at the final. Thanks for sharing this bit of history with us! Smile

27-Apr-15
Great to see they have retained some part of New Lynns early history. I remember watching them make bricks when I was a wee young lad. The tall chimneys from the kilns belched out black smoke all over the neighbourhood- that wouldn't go down too well these days with locals. Quickly worked out the clues and soon found the cache. Thanks for bringing me here.

23-Feb-15
Went here for a few times and couldnt find it. Now finally i did - was covered by some rubbish.

03-Jan-15
Found it with pram in tow. My 2 y/o played at the playground opposite. Nice walk on a nice day. Tftc.

13-Nov-14
First visit here after working out co-ords someone was having Lunch on nearby Table, so came back today & a quick grab.

31-Oct-14
This cache is way easier to find when you dont stuff up the simple maths.

21-Oct-14
With an errand completed out west and plenty of time to get down south for the next I decided that I could find a cache. This seemed like the obvious choice to me. As I approached the way-point however I was a little apprehensive as there was fencing and construction signs all around the historic site. In the end the information required was still easily obtainable. Now, what to do with that information...phone keypad?! Well in 2005 that was a readily available technology...in 2014...not so much...still my phone was actually up to the task so I'll stop complaining now! Off to the the final. I took the direct route and added at least two stars to the terrain rating. No problem completing the formalities here. Cache is in good condition. Took the safer route back to the auto. Cheers for the cache placement!

03-Aug-14
With the August mission set I decided to set myself an additional challenge to get them all in one day (and a few extras) and by doing so hopefully qualify for the 7+ a day challenge cache.

This was my first one of the day. Got the information very quickly and headed over to GZ. Had a bit of a search but came up with nothing. After 5 minutes I was completely drenched as it was raining so hard. Looked at some logs which confirmed I was definitely in the correct place, at the correct level. Went back to the exact spot I began the search and found it! Nice natural camo on it.

Thanks for the hide.

06-May-14
Killing time waiting for my car to be repaired nearby so I finally had time to do the multis in the area! Quick find once I got down the bottom! Thanks for the cache!

I am glad this little piece of history managed to survive the redevelopment of the area. Good little puzzle and stroll. TFTC!

06-Mar-14
a nice history lesson for the family, collected the TB Smile

12-Jan-14
An easy multi to complete on a Sunday afternoon, though the smell in the area of the cache made me want to find the cache asap.
Picked up TB, and dropped of Geocoin.
TFTC! Smile

19-Dec-13
Nice litle walk after sitting to work out destination nice hide to tftc

06-Dec-13
Nice challenge this one, and GPS put me right on it...for a change. There is so much rubbish about there as well (think there must be an inorganic due or something), and in the surrounding area, I tucked cache away quite well. Didn't want it being removed by some Over Enthusiastic Council Muggle. Also dropped TB Fancy Plow..thought it might help with clean up of area...cheers V.

10-Nov-13
No real problems

05-Nov-13
Interesting history lesson. No muggles about so grabbed it between the showers. TFTC

28-Oct-13

Was good to do a multi not too far from home !Thanks ! Enjoy the historical ones !

31-Aug-13
Lots of muggles around even after dark but with a bit of stealth we managed to get this one without too much trouble, tftc.

24-Aug-13
I enjoyed this great multi in New Lynn waiting for a friend to buy his own car. As he did test drive enough cars I had plenty of time for this and another multi. TFTC

02-Jun-13
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

Decided to pop out this afternoon to do a few Multi caches out West. Visited this interesting kiln and carefully worked out the co-ordinates for the final cache. We made our way to the final, where we made a quick find. We suspect the entry before ours in the logbook may be a muggle entry, but the cache was OK. We covered with some leaves when rehiding it. Thanks for the multi!

Grew up in Avondale, but had never seen this building before. Did calculations and set off to find. A muggle with her dog was near GZ, so pretended to admire the trees until she moved on. Quick find and thanks for bringing me to an area I had never visited.

02-Feb-13
Found as my 8th and last cache type for the Seven Plus a Day Challenge. I did attempt to get the oldest types of each cache in the Auckand region but failed at both of the oldest two multis. With only a few hours left in the day I did a search in the field and found the first oldest cache which it looked like I could reasonably achieve. Headed to New Lynn and quickly had GZ coordinates calculated from the information provided. I overshot GZ and then made life more difficult for myself as a backtracked but I soon had the cache successfully located. Thanks!

31-Jan-13
Staying with a friend near here so decided to combine a dog walk with a geocache. Found the information and did the calculations OK. (Luckily my friend had a non-smart-phone) On to GZ for a bit of a search and find. Nice multi. TFTC, Biggles.

21-Dec-12
Solved this puzzle months ago, but it was only today I found the note and decided to drive over. A nice quick find once the muggle with her dog cleared the area.

Great piece of industrial history for the area, it is this sort of history that often gets overlooked and unnoticed

Retrieve info and solved co-ords with no trouble. Absolutely amazing structure!!! Found cache easily while CB was on muggle watch.

07-Oct-12
I wanted to do this multi as it fills in a gab of oldies on my list Smile. The wind was chilly. So went in the campervan with the requested information to work out the maths.
Went for a walk down the street and found the cache easy. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting spot

17-Jul-12

What a really cool site. I enjoyed learning about the kiln while my kids played in the playground nearby.

Came back today after working out the numbers and there it was. TFTC!

20-Dec-11
This spot is busy! Its great to see these random bits of history that are scattered throughout Auckland. I was out a couple of weeks ago looking at this one late in the evening. I solved the coordinates for the final and wow, they’re only 50 meters away. Bad news is that there were people hanging around at 10:30 on a Wednesday evening. Go home people! This made searching just about impossible. I stopped by yesterday and nothing. So I go to confirm my coordinates and discover that they were entered into my iPhone incorrectly. I drove over to the real GZ and the cache was soon mine. TFTC!

11-Nov-11
Cool history lesson, thanks.

09-Oct-11
Enjoyed this multi. Quick find. TFTC.

A most enjoyable multi just before the CITO event. No problems with the maths and straight to the final. Found easily on first inspection. Dropped TB for moving along. TFTC! Big GrinBig Grin

09-Oct-11
Carried on after the CITO to do a few more caches. Found together with KiwiLeon, Sonia 64^2, and Tofska. Nice hide, for a moment we thought it was hidden in a coconut which was sitting next to the cache. T4TC

09-Oct-11
Shows your age when you can remember the brick and pipe works that used to be in this area. bit more history in the grey matter. Worked out the figs no prob . TFTC

09-Oct-11
Got this one after the CITO event with greenblat, kiwileon, and tofska...
Got a little panicked at first, as I realised that since I now have a fancy touch screeny phone, the first part of the multi would prove rather difficult! Imagine how difficult this will make the cache in like 10 years time! Haha.
But I managed to find out where the normal phone keypad was on my phone, however by this time kiwileon had already performed the calculations, and we were off.

Cache was very easily located, though I did spot a coconut at first which I thought may have been the cache at first, though it did seem like an odd choice of camo for the area!

TFTC!! Smile

09-Oct-11
I was in the area this morning checking up a location for my CITO today. Thought it would be rude not to find this this one. Nice spot for a multi. Thanks for this one (Great to see the cache is well stocked with lots of trades!)

Great to see that places like this have survived. Got to kiln and ealised neither of us had our cell phones on us, however Alianne of Tortal (being of a younger generation) could do the convertion without the need of a phone. Cache was partially open and a bit damp, removed cochroach and added a bag for the swaps. - MMcard +hair tie. TFTC

Nice area - historic building and nearby park. It was quite exciting to solve the puzzle and find the cache.

Two excellent spots we'd never have found without the cache. Saw a tui up close so absorbed in a flax flower it totally ignored us. Left a Welsh tb and took a Canadian scout patch. TFTC

didn't know this still existed there is a larger one in Palmerston North, solve the mystery and went above but ran out of time to go on other track...

16:41 The bluedahlia.co.nz were all together today for a crack at a nearby Multi cache. Found the sign at GZ and we sat in the car and worked out the numbers. After a short drive Lorelle and I wandered down and were signing the log while Michelle and Haydn watched from above. TFTC

Just loooovvvee my Crown Lynn [:X] & associated brands so loved seeing the kilns for Ambrico. Nice to have local history that really put this place on the map in NZ, and is such a part of our cultural heritage as part of the cache. Would far rather have products made once upon a time in these kilns and others like it than the stuff we import for pennies from overseas Sad. Bring back Crown Lynn!!! Anyway, TFTC, TNLNSL. Big Grin

20-Feb-10
Nice area and history. Got one of the answers wrong and went off to wrong location. Slipped down the bank and gashed my leg open pretty well on some old rusty steel. Lots of bleeding later went back and soon had it sorted. Found cache, SL TFTC

18-Feb-10
Very interesting old building. Must have been a "hot" place to work when all the ovens were working. Gathered the required info and headed for the final. Reasonably quick find. TFTC

Nice quiz took me a while but came up trumps in the end TFTC

We knew that New Lynn had a history of clay and bricks but we didn't know about this place. Thank you for bringing us here. The bonus was to pick up the 100 finds geocoin. We decided to retrieve it and do our best to hit this milestone in the next few weeks. Dropped off Gingerbread Geocin - we figured he might know something about being baked in an oven.
