Despite knowing the cache was gone, we still were alerted to this spot by the cache description and decided to come and see... and were certainly not disappointed. A great piece of Tasmanian history. Thanks for bringing us here aloysius7. (Although it would have been even nicer if we could have signed a log book! )
Read previous logs so did not expect cache to be there and it was not. Great place and have been here many time before but not caching. My great grandfather worked on this dam's construction and spend the rest of his life maintaning the Briseis Water Race. Heaps of history in the North East of Tassie. Will fix is not done by next visit.
Was pretty sure the cache would be missing given the previous logs, but wanted to have a look anyway.
Had come organised with containers, swaps and zip lock bags to put a replacement cache in and discovered when I got to GZ I'd left all the pens and log books back home...
Had a good search of all the stumps in a 20m radius and came up empty handed. Maybe the next searcher could come prepared with a replacement, the stump at GZ has some good hidey holes, but none a very big - around 1 litre max.

GPSr has been playing up all day and the reception here did not help things,
I think we were at GZ but didn't come up with the goods,
I don't know if I am missing something or not,
Am still puzzled about the name not to mention frustrated with the GPSr,
Thanks aloysius7 we will be back

Like the name, took me a minute to figure it out. Stopped for some lunch. Interesting history about this location and the are in general.
Amazing place especially when you can walk through the holes in the dam to the other side and the river runs straight through the dam wall.
Thanks aloysius7
Thanks aloysius7
Another cache in a place that's well worth visiting
Incredible to think how that wall was constructed.
Each time we pull up I seem to focus on finding the cache first, but luckily (more often than not) I am overcome with what's there and finding the cache is almost forgotten.
This is another one of those times and I am so glad we included this one in our 16 finds today.
Thanks aloysius7

Staying at my grandads in St Helens, went back and asked about this dam, to find that his father had been a labourer on it.
Thanks for starting a conversation that I wouldn't otherwise have had!

Wow - wasn't expecting to find that! Very interesting place. Some muggles had signed the log recently and put it back appropriately
Thanks for the cache - Wackys and Cached (SA)

Found while showing this place to our 4WD club. Someone (muggles?) had replaced the broken container. We removed some rubbish from it and left a pencil and a pen in return for a frog as there was no pencil in it. We also moved it back to what we assume was its original spot, right where the coordinates said it should be.
This cache is definitely worth the effort, the dam is very interesting.
Thanks, Aloysius

Shells muggle parents are in TAS at the moment and stumbled upon this one during their travels, knowing what it is they signed the log, and moved on.
That for the great location. Have been there a few times as far back as the mid 1970's when the dam was not open as much and you could with some skill and the right car drive around the back of the dam wall. Also drove then down a very over grown track to Cascade dam. With my brother in law from West Australia we spent Saturday and Sunday exploring the tin mine workings from yesteryear.
Awesome place. Great Cache, thanks. Took toy frog (rubbery one) marbles X 4, snap clip, gel pen and left, padlock and key, safety pins, marbles X 4, rubber ball, keyring and ping png ball
what an amazing site if only those walls could talk , had never heard of this before t grub l frog thanks for opening my eyes aloysius
And now we have too. Paulus came here 20 years ago, but was still surprised to find how big this thing is. The holes didn't exist then. They proved to be completely unnecessary according to someone Paulus knows. There was never any danger of collapse. TNLN. Thanks for bringing us back here again.
Ambushed by Mr A's boobytrap!
Found cache easily at 2100 hrs but left DNA at the scene.
Administered first aid once back at the cachemobile.
TNLNSL.
Thanks Aloysius

Easy to find. Too easy. Kids found after a race out of the car. Took lanyard and marble left keyring clip.
Nice scenery have visited site many times never knew about geocaching so we had to return to find the treasure.

Wow, I really liked this dam cache... I'm a dam fan.
We went up the dam road but were hampered by the damn cows that had escaped the damn paddock.
After that adventure, we pulled up at the dam parking spot and headed off to find the dam cache.
The dam walls are damn impressive! I took a lot of dam photos. I want to know were all the dam fish are though.....
A damn good time was had by all!
TNLN Signed the dam log.
Thanks Aloysius

Third cache for the day, all Team Aloysius caches and all made the day a great one. I love the cache name - it's inspired
As for the dam itself, what a beauty, so much effort put into this, they wouldn't have had much machinery, they certainly didn't have the benefit of the luxuries we have today like GPS, aerial or satellite mapping - I take my hat off in the memory of those that toiled over this structure.
Found the cache pretty easily, very boggy around there though, as would be expected given the areas past! Decided to do some rock climbing while CraigRat signed the logbook, didn't get very far, I really must get some new boots!
Thanks for this one Team A - and the other two we did today - made for a great spring day outing - must sleep now though, my old tired body needs a rest.

Second stop on our afternoon of being chauffeured by Mr. Aloysius.
This sort of location is indicative of the sheer number of historical relics that lay about in the bush in the N/E of Tasmania, most of which you would never have known were there, and many of which have just been left, as they were all those years ago, sitting alone in the trees.
This is one of those, while it's been modified to stop it holding water, it basically sits there in the bush, it must be thousands of tons of redundant material. What's more, it took a lot of workers what you can only assume must have been a long time to construct this without any machinery at all.
Thanks for the cache Team A, we're really starting to appreciate Tasmanias history through caching.
Took - Stuff.
Left - Different stuff.
