I have caught the archived caches bug and trying to follow in the footsteps of other local cachers in 2018. I am glad I had GE'd the location of this one prior to my 11km return run out here, as the GPS said it was still 130m to go. Although the GPS also said I was at nearly 200m elevation here too. I guess it was having a bad day. Easy find here and tried to be very careful with the delicate container. Still good after it's last visit nearly 4 years ago.
Found today with hingis20. Always nice to find an archived cache. Bit of an overcast and, at times, drizzly day. Still a good day for getting out for those elusive caches. Here in New Zealand from Victoria, BC, Canada to visit family for a few weeks. TFTC
Quick find this morning with eltee291! We had just found the nearby cache and thought we would wander over and see if this one is still there as other people having been finding it quite recently. Much to our delight it is still there and in good shape. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache, Captain_S!
Found with NZDi. A bunch of local cachers have joined the bandwagon driven by the Seagnoid of finding archived caches and after overhearing a discussion about it at a recent event we decided to join in the fun. It certainly adds a different aspect to caching when you have almost cleared the local game board. I'm surprised people who are giving up on the game don't use the Adoption process rather than archive.
Today as we made our way to GZ we were concerned a bit of vigorous pruning might have seen the cache done for, however on checking it was discovered everything in its place and as the previous finder mentioned, in surprisingly good order. Which would not have been the case had the pruning been six inches lower.
Log signed then on our way.

After having success with finding an archived cache yesterday, I did a bit of research and discovered this could be another one.
I was heading home and wanted a few quick finds on the way back to Nelson. I thought to myself I would search for ten minutes maximum and if I don't find it by then I would give up and find some activated caches as I head up the valley.
We have been here before so I had a good idea that the area was not that big and it should be a fairly limited area that I would have to search.
I made my way to GZ and within seconds I noticed something worthy of further investigation and sure enough there was the cache.
I was surprised at the great condition everything is in, although the lid is a wee bit fragile now.
A quick sign of the log and I returned it as I had found it,
Time to head for home, thank you for placing this in the first place and thank you to the Blenheim cachers who mentioned this cache to us.

The goal for today was checking out this one. I had found the other cache in this cemetery a while back, but forgot to check today if that is still there. Good to find this one though. It appears in good shape. Certainly not water-logged, although the lid is now starting to show cracks. Thanks for the cache Captain_S
There was no necessity as such to get caches today, but I just felt in the mood to go get a few. And I had been intrigued by the Seagnoid's recent forays into the world of lonely archived caches, and thought I would go check out one of them at Kaituna, just to see what state it is in. On the way I collected a couple more to make the trip worthwhile, but that is all for today. Jo and I will no doubt go out Monday for a few and a walk somewhere - will have to be strategic in selection with a challenging souvenir hunt looming....

Despite a busy weekend in CHCH last weekend I still had an inchoate desire to find a few more and the word from t S was that he had been scoping out archived caches and I was watching his progress with some interest. I noted that he had found a few archived caches that were still in place and this one was close enough for me to venture away from work.
After an overly busy morning I felt I needed a bit of a break from work so headed out with high hopes after the recent find. Soon got to G Z nan d some new fresh snowfall left the vista an amazing sight, plenty of white stuff upon afar.

We came to Pine Valley for a planting CITO. Extra time after to do some tagging of local caches.
The Seagnoid bought me here to snag this one. Great size. Cheers

I hadn't even thought to look for archived caches till someone mentioned there was one out by Pelorus that was still in good nick. That got me enthused - I made a pocket query of all the archived caches and a couple of days ago checked out a couple. That was a bust, but it didn't dampen my enthusiasm. I came out this way for a couple more. The cache at Delta Camp is gone - the whole memorial has been rebuilt, so then I came out here.
Wow. This cache is in incredibly good nick, considering that it has not been found for... um... 7.5 year. Cache all dry inside.Log book in perfect condition. And it coud so easily have been otherwise. The trees have recently been trimmed, about 5 either side of the cache, leaving an odd corner window thing inthe corner of the cemetery. And the trimming was to within maybe three inches of the cache! So close to completly killing the cache.
So this cache pushes a couple of buttons - an archived cache find, and over a year (over seven years!) since last found. And because it is in such perfect condition (and a decent size) it gets a favourite. It's first favourite - awarded after it was archived! How cool is that!
Alas, the cache is suffering from UV damage. The lid is brittle and I cracked it. Sorry.

A nice quit corner away from the busy traffic. Gathered another number for the CACHING TO THE POWER OF 10 cache. - Soccer Travel Bug TB. Thanks for the cache.
I am archiving the entire Power of 10 series due to some misunderstandings with both cachers and landowners as to the placement of some of the caches in cemetaries.
When I first put this series out, I was very careful to approach the various people responsible for the locations, and was granted permission in all cases. It seems that either these people have moved on and not passed this information on, or reneged on the original permission.
The other reason for archiving is the number of cachers who have a problem with caches located in cemetaries, my response to that is that you don't have to find them, the choice is yours. My choice was to place them there for specific reasons and I was able to do so at the time.
If you have not finished this series and wish to find the final location (not in a cemetary) I will be happy to provide you with the co-ords.
Thanks for understanding

A somber place, but peaceful. A quick find, and reading a few of the stones, we are surprised at the familiar names - many we know of in mid canterbury. Thanks for this. TNLN

I've found your cache!
Recently I had a bit of spare time in the upper end of the South Island and I managed to find a large number of geocaches. Unfortunatly due to an unexpected trip to Australia for family reasons I was called away from my Nelson adventures.... Now three weeks on I'm having to sit back and log the piles of caches that I did manage to find while I was down there. As there were a large number of caches, I've decided to throw in a generic log for all but a few of them.
Being a North Islander I was surprised at the sheer number of (glow in the dark) polar bears living in the upper South Island - I really didn't think it was that cold down there. And if I had of cottoned on eariler I could have traded for pretty much an entire chess set, one piece at a time. As it was I tended not to trade geo-junk but I did move a small number of geocoins around.
Of the caches I found I could not possibly choose a favorite but there are certainly both some challenging and very rewarding caches in the area. The best caches tend to be the ones where the owner has put in a bit of extra effort or extra thought into the challenge and design of the cache, thanks to all those who did. I was also very surprised to see that there are a large number of caches placed in and around graveyards - I've never visited so many in shuch a short space of time. I was pleased to see some new ideas around as well.
Warmest Regards,
Bobo.

Easy find on way home from Queen Charlotte Tramp. Very disappointed with Punga Cove Lodge on the tramp. It has become run down and dirty (we have stayed there 3 times before). We and 3 other couples hired the 'Lodge' (4 bedroom accommodation) and it was absolutely filthy! The owners/managers were very unhelpful. I will never stay there again until the place is cleaned up and under new management. Craglee Lodge, on the other hand, was fantastic: elegant accommodation, fantastic food and fabulous hosts! TFTC

Found this cache safely in it's hiding place during our holiday from the UK. NZ cachers sure like cemetaries - this must have been about the sixth we've visited for caches. This afternoon was too steaming hot for us to be out of our air-con car for long otherwise we would have had a much longer look around. Thanks for the cache.

Having a sore stiff leg from yesterdays tramping decided something a bit more sedate was warrented today. So with that piled GPS into car and did a daytrip to Blenheim from Christchurch. I'm pleased to remote that Blenheim has not moved relative to the rest of the plant as I managed to find all caches attempted.

Certainly got to visit a lot of cemetries in our few days in this part of the world. Trying to get the clues for "Caching to the power of ten", managed OK here. Thanks.
I can't believe I'd never noticed this spot before. Bumped into a fellow 'cacher'. Good to put a face to a name! Children all traded!
Nice Cache, driven past it a couple of times.
Last cache of a quick visit south (Ran out of light).
Good fun just to drive in direction of GPS and hope a road will get me there....
