On a walk today with a client, and a chance to look for this one again after my previous DNF. Once again I walked up too far, before reading through previous logs, and yes the coordinates are very accurate! Easy find then, and I can't believe we didn't spot the cache last time TFTC

Easy find using the hint! Waterfall nothing but a trickle! TFTC

TFTC. Took a bit of hunting around. Left some stickers and other trinkets

Yay - it's still here!
I really was a little concerned after the recent DNFs.
Today, I was in the area on a group walk, and fortunately this was the lunch stop - enabling me 'time' to search.
I followed the hint as best I could, and luckily found the cache in the very first spot I looked. Very pleased to sign the logbook.
Great area, but just a trickle dribbling down the falls.
A nice return walk today from below Ancanthe Park, my first visit to the falls.

Thanks Snuva, for the cache and the adventure.
Cheers, EPs.

Looked for the cache on 30/4/23, pretty sure we found the spot according to the description, but no cache there I tend to agree with the previous log that this cache has gone missing

Took the youngster for a walk. I was feeling a little off after having a lurgy but he needed to expend some energy. A waterfall was discussed, and this is the best/closest he hasn't been to before.

We went to the lower falls first and met a young couple sunbathing on the edge. We had a good look around and went to the upper falls. We went right to the top and tried to get around the upper rocks but abandoned that idea as I'd never hear the end of it if one of us slipped.

Remembered there was a cache here and it says I hadn't found it. Ah yes, I remember looking for it a few times before. Had a decent look but didn't locate it. Never really got anywhere that settled less than 8m and was using my phone but had enough of a search in the surroudning areas that I'd say I would have expected to find it. By this time Mr. 9 had enough and it was time to turn around.

In 2 minds as to whether this is "enough" to log a DNF but as no finds for 3 months and my DNF don't assume this means it's not there, just I didn't find it.

Perfect spring day for the Falls! Did same as others and went too far to the big ledge, then found on the way back down. Great spot!

A nice evening stroll up to the falls (ok the hill up was a little tough). Cache was easy to find and a little uncovered.
Emptied out the rubbish (a nappy (clean) and a religious pamphlet... not judging, but not really cache worthy... each to their own I guess). Put in a handful of new things to swap, re-camouflaged the cache.

Thanks for bringing me up here, it's not far from home so might make it a regular walk.

Beautiful spot and nice find. I’ve been here many times but never noticed the path up the waterfall! Thanks so much for the cache!

Glad to finally get this one. Took the wrong track from Junction cabin last time hiking around here!!!

Beautiful. I’ve walked this track a few times and never spotted the goat track to the platform!!

After slogging it out uphill [B)] to WP1 of the MultiCache [GC195EF] for the co-ords to the final, i descended to grab this one on my way back down.
It was some 400m out of my way, but i didn't mind it being so close i wasn't gonna pass it up Wink

An awesome sight was the New Town Falls after the recent snow-melt as i gingerly made my way across the potentially slippery and wet rocks to the other side of this track, hanging on to the very handy fallen log and well placed small stones to step on.
The water over the track was shallow but the slippy-factor was firmly in mind having injured myself before in the past from slipping [:o]

Safely across, i obeyed the hint but eagerly went to the very top with the 'huge overhang'.
If you go that far, you've overshot [:o)]

After making my way back down some, i found the track off to the right then to the correct overhang on the left.
The cache was found and the log was signed at 11:27 on TGIF 8 October 2021.

What a great spot, for that and this cache's age a Favorite Point is offloaded Cool
The cache and contents are good and dry.

Today we decided to tackle a few outstanding caches in Glenorchy and Lenah valley areas that we have not got around to getting yet.

We have been waiting for the maintenance on the bridge to finish for a while so we could take a walk in this area including the Lenah Valley Track and a few of the offshoot tracks collecting geocaches along the way. Today was our first opportunity and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Loved the walk to the falls and the actual falls themselves. We took our time and explored around before finally finding the cache. Gps played up a little so the very detailed hint came in handy. TFTC

Had the day off work today so thought we would get some caches in the Wellington foothills. Wow this was impressive. These Falls are amazing and so close to Hobart. Admittedly, it has been raining non-stop for the last 3 days but today, bathed in sunshine, there was still a ton of water falling over the Falls. Following the description helped us make an easy find. TFTC

out and about with 2 Rafas caching, a short walk to a very serene waterfall today lots of other adventurous people going in this direction, a beautiful sky and weather to complete the walk, easy find with clues. TFTC TNLN log dry. got to the middle and went to what we thought was the bottom but there was still a long way to the bottom from this platform, I reckon this is the most visited waterfall in the Hobart area.

Thanks for the cache Snuva.
This one is a classic cache placement - in one of those places relatively close to the city, a fairly easy walking track, and the falls at GZ never disappoint. Not sure why it has taken me this long to make it to this cache, but this morning I suggested that we tick this one of the map to RLD4963 and he was keen.
It was a beautiful sunny morning, and not too hot. Lots of shaded trail on the way to the track, and lots of people and their pooches also enjoying the walk. Once we made it to the falls we quickly located the cache and then sat back, enjoyed the views, took some photos, enjoyed a snack, took some more photos. A great place! Thanks so much for placing a cache here. A favourite from me.

Sorry dnf but tft hunt! It is so beautiful here!! I think I was in the area trick cook up to the second tier of overhang. But no luck today! Had a wonderful time being hot then the mountain gave me a cool shower of snowflakes Smile

What a beautiful waterfall. And the cache helped me to see it from a different perspective too. Nice work. Was a great spring day in Tassie, perfect for some bush walking. Unfortunately took a wrong turn so made it a bit harder on ourselves then we had to. But got there in the end and got to enjoy a nice break at this fantastic spot. Cache was a bonus. TFTC

This was a gorgeous walk. There wasn't a whole lot going over the falls but it was very worth it. After a bit of clambering and a slightly barked knee I realised I was looking in the wrong spot. Then I had a d'oh moment when I spotted the cache. It was still in excellent condition so I signed the log and put everything back as it was.

Today SSR and I were picking caches in various locations. We approached this cache from a different angle following a steep 'track' with the occasional bit of tape down from the North-South Track. Not being able to get a close reading we resorted to the clue and thought we must be in the right place as everything fitted, so after a quick look at the falls from this level we searched high and low. With readings of zero metres, ranging up to 21 metres we finally thought we should move and widen the search. We continued our steep decent and whilst our equipment wanted us to go one way, we went the other on instinct and immediately found the hide. We spent a lot of time here today but enjoyed the area and the different levels of the falls and happy to come away with a find. TFTC Snuva

This was another cache that myself and GooseandEgg added to our days caching as we were making it up as we went today. Luckily both of us use GSAK and had all the caches preloaded in our devices.
So one of our problems was not technology it was more to do with my map reading and taking the wrong path which lead us nicely around the cache area but not getting anywhere near it, in the end we spotted a path heading down that was marked by tapes on trees and at long last we were in the area of GZ.

We searched and search but in the end twigged we were not looking in the correct place and followed the path down a bit more and suddenly Snuvas guide made sense, Richard suggested going this way and what do you know we spotted the cache as we walked those couple of meters, we added our names to the log of what is a 10 year old cache, saying this the cache was in perfect condition.

We spent a bit of time looking at the falls from different levels before heading away from the area on the path we missed in the first place.

Thanks for the cache and showing me this great location.

Me & my two girls started geocaching this weekend. We found it. I took my 12 yr old daughter on this walk and we had fun trying to find a track down to the falls from the firetrail bridge above. In the end we had to go cross country to the creek and then carefully descend the falls. We took the zinc & peg and added a figurine and a bracelet.

Found it!
Big and steep climb but utterly worth it!
Took blue zinc stick and ladybug peg and replaced with homemade wristband and a collectible figurine.

I travelled to this cache from 'Clapper' and there where twist and turns at every venture, numerous tracks, surprises, sweat and frustration. Thanks for the detailed description and hint or I would never have got here let alone found it.

Cache zombified. Had decided to do the caches up the track to the New Town Falls today . Unfortunately today it was the New Town Trickle! None the less it was a beautiful spot and worth the journey. Would also recommend taking the side track to the middle of the falls for a look too. Despite the lack of water geodog still managed to get saturated! Found the cache easily, all in good condition. Today we decided to again walk from the end of Lenah Valley Road and look for caches closer to New Town Rivulet. With cloud hanging over the mountain but clear where we were walking, it was cool with no breeze - really good conditions. Having just found "GCQEX1 Old Hobartians Ruins" the 2y'stassies went different ways. With mobility being an issue for Mr y'stassie, he headed to New Town Falls whilst Mrs y'stassie headed up the Old Hobartians Track. Encouraged by the reference in the cache description of a fairly flat track to the falls, Mr y'stassie headed off albeit slowly. After about 40 minutes the "falls" were reached although there was only half a trickle of water today, not surprising given the recent weather. Mr y'stassie was about to head towards the cache when three muggles arrived and decided to take a break from their walk. This enforced an extended rest break. They eventually moved on and Mr y'stassie clambered up the side of the falls, without any semblance of skill, and it wasn't too long before the hide was located. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. After getting back to the track Mr y'stassie started to head back but after about 300m a couple, led by their very friendly dog, approached. There was something very familiar about one of them. Then the "penny dropped" - it was someone with whom Mr y'stassie went to University nearly 50 years ago and whom he hadn't seen since those days. It was a really great chance meeting and the next 30 minutes were spent catching up on significant events in our lives. After we parted, Mr y'stassie headed back to the Old Hobartians Ruins and waited for Mrs y'stassie to return from her excursion up the Old Hobartians Track. Thanks Snuva for another cache in a great location on the mountain. A really enjoyable experience in many ways.

I have been saving the walk to this cache and "Old Hobartian Ruins" for some time now. Then I put it off again because I'm currently not driving and the end of Lenah Valley Road seemed too far away. Today I walked from home (in West Moonah) to the end of Lenah Valley Road, then up the track to "Old Hobartian Ruins" and on to this cache, where I enjoyed some lunch before heading back again. It was a bit damp with a few showers coming through, but I really enjoyed the walk and finding the caches. Thanks Smile

A very lovely waterfall it was a pity there wasn't much water flowing over.
One day Ill have to visit them when there is some more water cascading over the top.

Aaaah, what a lovely spot! Great for a spot of lunch, and a spot of caching. Thanks Snuva.

31-Mar-12
Like Old Hobartian ruins before it, I was really plagued with doubts about whether I had ever been here before. We used to do quite a bit of walking on the mountain as a family when I was a kid, and I'd have thought we'd have visited these great falls, but nothing looked very familiar when we arrived (having stopped for lunch in the middle of the falls, by following the detour off the main track). Up at the main location we had to wait for a few muggles to depart before I scrambled cautiously up the hill following the hint (my arrow was having a bad day) and grabbed the cache. The lack of recent rain meant that the falls were just a trickle, so I am going to have to come back when there's a bit more flow. Thanks for the cache, Snuva; we had a great afternoon's walk.

Decided to continue my walk in the rain, from Old Hobartians. Track got muddier, and my GPS ran out of batteries so I had to rely on my iPhone which is next to useless up there! Decrypted the clue and found it fairly specific so I decided to continue on and rely on that. Nevertheless it was quite a search and I got completely soaked from the wet vegetation. Misinterpreted the clue and went too far up, gave up and walked down when I spotted it. Good one, and a nice waterfall in this wet weather. Thanks for the cache. Walked back down the fire trail. An interesting afternoon in the wet.

What a great location. Simply beautiful and fanatisic. Accompyed by oldsaint who's only hint was - it took me half an hour to find - which worried me. I looked at the hint and followed the instructions and had the cache in hand within 1 minute much to oldsaints annoyance. While I signed the log and replaced the cache old saint happily snapped away, and I followed back down and started myself snapping the terrific view and waterfall. Thank you snuva for bringing me to such a great location, I really appreciate it. Also I need to thank old saint for his friendship and willingness to go to a cache he had been to previously. Also I wanted to thank old saint for sharing his birthday with me. Happy birthday again old saint. 21 again?

Hi Again. Found and logged this cache at 1605hrs but really enjoyed taking photos at the varying levels even though there was little water cascading down today. Also enjoyed the log (by don't know who) describing taking their muttley for a walk trying to get it to do number twos. The first log re this subject was at Hobartian Ruins and continued here. Two things crossed my mind - wonder if it waited to be back in the cachemobile and if it hasn't by now, how uncomfortable it must be!!! Anyway, hope the dog and its owner are both okay. TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

Although we thought this would not be too hard to locate, the GPS suggested it was a bit south of where we assumed it to be. But after a bit of searching on the creek edge Sue found it.

What started as a pleasant walk on the mountain turned into a wet and cold time. Found the cache easily but had to descend back to my pack for a pen which I left for the next person to find. Wrote rather jerkily due to cold arms that wouldn't work properly. Left a ladybird peg. First to write in the new logbook. Thanks for the cache.

Having never been to this part of Wellington Park, I was keen to explore this part of the world. As Roehm noted, the waterfall wasn't running to it's full capacity. A note to say I visited but didn't find the cache, in fact I'm ashamed I didn't even look for it Sad

At this point in what turned out to be the 7 and a half hour marathon of a walk from top to bottom I really didn't have the energy to search for the cache. But as a falls bagger I was happy enough to be here and "bag" the falls.

As CraigRat mentioned there was very little water today but my delirious imagination ran away on it's own for a short while and drew a little bit of a picture for me of what it thought the falls might look like with a good flow of water - it then returned and gained some mild amusement while CraigRat attempted to drink beautiful clear mountain water laced with a lonely; but happy, leech Smile

Not a lot of water today, in fact it was barley a trickle, but I imagine this would be quote a spectacular spot at the right time of year!

Found after e a quite painful descent from Junction cabin, or our way to the bottom at Lenah Valley.

Had to use the hint at the GPS had me in a few spots I don't think I'd like to go to....

Great view from the cache, sat by the falls and rested while I signed the log.

Fantastic stuff

Thanks for bringing us here.

A great walk to these lovely falls this morning. Had to resort to the hint but pleased we did as we didn't want to damage anything by climbing where we didn't need too. Thanks for the cache Snuva a great spot I haven't been to for many years. Took nothing left coin.

Can't remember other swaps

I've been meaning to do this one for ages. Walked down from The Springs with el golco (mother's day outing). Looked way too high at first but easily spotted once on the right level. Took nothing, left Stan the South Swaggie. Continued down to the waiting car at Lenah Valley.

After racking up my 100th find at "Old Hobartian Ruins", "New Town Falls" and "Junction Cabin" were beckoning. No sign of anyone and GPS coverage was poor, so I resorted to the clue and found shortly after. Not a lot of water around at the moment, but I've been here when it was pouring and it's quite impressive for a relatively small waterfall. Thanks for the exercise. Took Wine Stopper, Left Subway Stamps and Golf Tees.

Puppy wanted to do a walk this afternoon and I thought this would be perfect. Unfortunately at the designated time it was blowing a gale, raining and stormy. So we stayed indoors and tried to settle for ball chasing but it just didn't cut it. When it seemed to have calmed we headed out, a little unusually, given that it was still drizzling and dusk. Since my recent DNF I guess I've had time to ponder on the hint, OR was luckier this time as went almost straight to it. The walk back via the fire trail and by torch light was smooth sailing despite some slipping and sliding. Took mini heart cookie cutter, left "Old Maid" cards, SL. TFTC Snuva, we both enjoyed the stretch of our legs.

After a good 15mins of looking we gave up.
Used the hint, so we presume we were in the exact location. It seemed the perfect spot

Oh well, will wait for another cacher to find this one before we go back
