Find number 14638 at 12:27:57pm on Saturday the 16 November 2024Camping in Daylesford for the next week for a mini family camping reunion over the weekend, I've arrived early to have a look around and do some geocaching.Out for another early drive this morning looking around and grabbing some geocaches, mostly chasing Multi's for a calendar year challenge but grabbing a few others as well.Out this afternoon for some sightseeing around Hepburn Springs, this one involved a lot of back and forth when combined with the Adventure Labs and one of the Earthcaches nearby.**Thanks for placing this cache Maccaholics**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
I started this Multi last week when I was here doing the new Ad Lab, however due to time constraints to get back to Ballarat and pick up the two Youngest Monsters from school, I couldnt complete it. Back to today for a couple more waypoints and after getting to GZ and initially looking in a wrong spot, I looked up the hint and bang, I found the cache instantly!! TFTC!!
Today was jam packed! It started with a surprise visit to watch my niece at swimming first thing. Then off to visit my camping group south of Daylesford, and then off to the Earthcache event in Vaughan Springs.I pulled into this carpark and lo and behold who should be in the middle of the road but Mr Tritonz. We teamed up and completed this adventure together.A big thanks goes to Maccaholics for taking the time to add Put the Spring back in your step to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! The fun just never stops.Join us as we announce the winners in the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards in addition to celebrating Geocaching Victoria's 10th Anniversary.**When:** Saturday, 16 November 2024 from 5pm**Where:** Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club, YarravilleLog your will attend at [**GCAWDFX: 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards & Birthday**](https://coord.info/GCAWDFX).Also have you logged your will attend for Victoria's first ever Block Party? Found thanks to catnap's amazing detective work. We strolled the grounds and samples the wares until we had enough numbers to calculate GZ. Honestly, my partner did most of the brain work on this one while I was being distracted by Earth Caches. This whole area was quite a joy to explore and much more inviting than I recall as a child on my last visit so many decades ago. The find was made fairly simply with the log signe and cache returned in its good condition. [^]TFTC Maccaholics.
dalerious and I had a few extra days to explore this wonderful area so we made the most of picking up as many of the older caches that we could. All the information was easily gathered and a good set of numbers ensued. Thank you Maccaholics for bringing us to this lovely area.
In the area with HeliKelli for a getaway and walked along the springs to locate the cache. TFTC Maccaholics
On annual leave with Kploz in this beautiful area putting a few smilies on our geo map. Im not a fan of mineral water, I find it tart or bitter and dont like the effervescence feel about it. Regardless, I still tasted each one to understand the differences but it was closely followed by me saying Yuck!, its a shame because after reading the signs I see how good it is for your health. The walk to the last spring contained a steady flow of people and given its school holidays it was also full of kids whining are we there yet?.This truly is a beautiful location and we enjoyed sitting quietly near the Argyle Pump listening to the frogs chatting away.
Another fun find on my journey from north of the border. Thanks to deanside who came with me to some of the caches I found today. Thanks Maccaholics and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!
Spending some time in the Daylesford area, staying at a cute B n B. Weather has been kind and surprisingly the town is not too busy!Found this fairly quickly with the 3yo granddaughter. Cache in good condition and nicely hidden. A great wander around the Springs very quiet today, no water flowing through the stream. Thanks Maccaholics for your fantastic efforts and for contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails, Deanside
Found the poem and necessary springs to put together the final location, but DNF; we have a feeling our coordinates are off as they didn't seem to coincide with the hint. Still, it made for a lovely evening walk Have messaged the owner for a pointer and will be back for another go one day. TFTC!
I seem to have timed that to perfection!! A chilly & showery day (surely not in Daylesford! ) not many people at the reserve today but, equally, not many animals around either. I gained the information required whilst enjoying a nice peaceful walk. I was a bit concerned at the final WP due to my notoriously "out of whack" GPS but I seemed to come up with an acceptable GZ......... I collected info for the Earthcaches on my way (My multitasking ability is as reliable as my GPS!!) I had a straightforward find at GZ & returned to my car just as the heavens opened! Many thanks
Sometime to kill whilst the muggle napped so I went exploring. Easy to grab the details required but my maths let me down.
Soon fixed and cache found quickly. TB grabbed. TFTC from a WA cacher.

Another lovely drive this morning to collect the last of the details and log this multi. I have been here twice before for this one so it was great to be able to sign it off and grab a smiley. The first time i came i couldnt find a necessary plaque, then the second time i found it and took a photo which i seem to have promptly lost. This time i have finally got it all in order. While here i have also confirmed some details for a couple of local earthcaches which i will log in the next couple of days so a productive and enjoyable trip and cache, thank you.
I have been feeling a little down lately and seem to be struggling with low energy each day. One thing that i know always gives me a boost is getting out geocaching. I dont have a lot of caches left in my area so i have decided to try to fit in just one cache hunt per day. I did a similar thing during the lockdowns and it worked for me then, although i will need to drive significantly further now. Whenever i can, i will target one cache and enjoy the drive, the hunt and the find. It will help with my streak and my mood so a win win. This is the third day of this plan, i think its working.

fairly sure I got the coordinates right. Had a tricky crossing of a creek to negotiate from Argyle Spring and found what appeard to be the right site, fitting the clue, but no luck
Enjoyed the short walk, except for going to the last spring which I skipped this time but will visit next time I am around. Thanks for the multi.
These old caches are great. Usually take you on a decent tour, to really nice spots.
Unsure how long the walk was, we packed lunch, fruits, and a backpack. Only thing I forgot was bottle for the mineral springs!
Place was really quiet for a long weekend, which wasn't such a bad thing. It did make it a little difficult counting and watching two kids who wanted to put the taps on full ball, however that's the fun when with kids!
A quick few calcs and soon had a logical spot for GZ. Aysen made the final pretty quick, cache still in great condition. Thanks!

Took a lovely study-break walk to Argyle spring and found this cache on the journey. Such a peaceful area. Thanks!
Great little walk though the mineral springs here. Good little straightforward cache to do
Beautiful sunny day for this lengthy multi! Finding the cache, along with spotting an echidna, made it all worth it! TFTC
I did this cache over 2 sunny days. An enjoyable cache with amazing scenery and great clues. When finalising the coords I slightly messed up, but a quick fix led me to gz favourite from me. TFTC!
A fantastic walk. We knew our final co-ords were wrong but using our caching knowledge (reliable this time! ) and the clue Geohubby was able to quickly put his hands on the cache on our return. TFTC
TFTC. We had not been in this area for quite sometime. Perpetually Lost and I wandered the springs and gathered information. Interesting facts and figures. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk. At the final spring we made a calculation , looked logical. as we got closer to where we parked the vehicle we had another look and readjusted our calculations. That was a better location. Cache quickly in hand but not before we had gathered information for a couple of earthcaches. A great adventure.

I looked at the cache description for this one when I happened to be in Daylesford last week, and I was pretty keen to do it as it is on my list of the 500 oldest active Vic caches. But it was getting late in the day and the rest of the family were more interested in getting home so I gave it a miss, for now.
So i didn't think i would be back to the area so soon but Hans (HansandLinda) had asked if i was interested in paddling at Cairn Curran to grab some new caches and from there we worked our way south in search of multis to help out with a challenge for him.
We picked a cracker of a day to do this one, sunny but mild temps made walking to each waypoint very comfortable, picking up the clues along the way. Eventually we had some coords in hand, but a couple of rechecks as it didn't look quite right meant the map meant we took a couple of attempts to narrow down the correct search site.
Thx juzmac for a great cache, really enjoyed the walk, even spotting an echidna having a bath in the creek on the way back. FP for the area.

Well this certainly put the spring back into our step as we wandered around the different springs here, gathering intelligence and generally just enjoying the area.
Once we had all our facts and figures we came up with a logical GZ which proved to be spot on.
Thanks juzmac for the tour of the many springs of Hepburn.

I wasn’t giving up after the hike out & back to the Argyle Spring!! Gorgeous area, first tine visiting for me and the GeoKids, although my GeoHubby spent a lot of time here as a kid, with extended family. Such a good day out. Don’t forget your empty water bottles!
Hi, tried to do this multi but we were unable to locate the two plaques at the second set of Springs. There was no poem and we were wondering if they have been moved due to what looks like new development. All the signs seem new. Please let me know if I'm mistaken as the last log was March 2019. Maybe we looked in the wrong area?
Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks Maccaholics (F=972 H=18) for the cache.

A missed log from last year
After camping with good friends for the night we got up this morning to find the weather not so fine but thought that we should try and find a few caches before it turned nasty.
We met up with micaparamedic here and thought this would be a good one to get, unfortunately we didn't check where the different way points were and had a bit longer walk than expected.
Most of the required info was easy to to find and we even guessed one before we got to the way point.
The information in hand we headed off to GZ where the container was found right where the GPS was pointing and we soon had our names in the log
Many thanks juzmac for a great multi.

First time in this area as a surprise few days away for birthdays: sisso2 (50) and Mum (90). Thoroughly enjoyed this little hike and finding the clues. Nothing difficult in the terrain. All was in order.
Dropped a couple of TB's in here so hope someone can find this cache again soon.

Found after the trek on a very warm New Years Day. Thanks for placing a cache here as we love hides like this, taking us to interesting places we would have otherwise never found if it wasn’t for Geocaching. TFTC Maccaholics.
That was quite the hike! Thanks for a lovely tour of the area. Found with Swampgum.
"an easy walk 1klm away" Felt more like two mile I reckon?
Anyhow, I gathered all the clues and that gave me a set of numbers that worked spot on!
Took nothing, left nothing, signed the log.
Thanks for the cache juzmac

After the 15 Years of Events in Victoria event, we decided to head to Daylesford and the surrounding area to find a few cool caches. Nice walk, tasting, completing earth caches and finding this one at the end. Thanks for the cache, juzmac and maccaholics.

A Sunday afternoon solo drive today. I had worked the numbers out from a previous visit (after stuffing them up and then finding the error at home (100 metres out). Last time we searched and searched to no avail and today with the correct numbers it was a quick and easy find as I travelled back through here today on the way home. Nice to finally get the smilie! Many thanks for the cache
Nice short walk around the springs given Argyle spring is closed! We took a punt on the F clue with some google mapping and it paid off leading us to the final location!
Don't be put off by the smell of the springs water, give them a taste!

Thanks to a little assistance from the cache setter last night who assured us that the plaque was indeed there and a little assistance from Mr Google to help us with the GPS location of Argyle Springs (as we were unable to walk there as the path to those springs was cordoned off) we have been successful! Woop woop. TFTC
Frustrating and fruitless search for the second plaque at WP2. Could find the one commerating the redevelopment but no other. Searched through logs for hints and got nothing. Extended our search area and still found nothing. Googled the poem and nothing. Note that it has not been found at all since September 2016 and even then that was found by someone who had been given a photo of the poem. Very disappointed.
Re-enabling after maintenance run to check a few points. Plaque for spring 2 is definately still there!!! Cache box and contents have done well over wet Winter!!
Further to my note I contacted a fellow geocacher who sent me a photo of the poem I couldn't find. It certainly wasn't what we were looking for. So we returned today to Hepburn Springs and firstly checked for this plaque. Yes it is there, no where near where the co ordinates were sending us to but in the general area. Now we were able to continue with the multi. A lovely walk in the bush and back again to find the cache. Success!! TFTC
The poem at the 2nd waypoint seems to be vital in finding this cache. However there was NO poem to be seen. Very disappointing as we were hoping for a smiley face.
This cache hasn't been found since January! The person that found it recently picked up the clues a very long time ago!
Think you really need to check this out.

Find #1051 for me. As it turned out, I was able to work out most of the clues from home in Bendigo. The remaining clues I found on a previous visit but decided to leave the final find for a later time. Today I was on my way home from Ballarat and suddenly realized I'd probably have time to find this one even though it was already getting dark, so stopped by while the kids slept in the car. This one was a quick find and a nice end to a very, very cold winter's day. Thanks for the cache Maccaholics and the hunt along the way!
Just concentrating on multis this afternoon, we liked the walk and trying the different mineral waters. Thanks Maccaholics, we saw 2 kookaburras too.
We really enjoyed the walk around this area trying the different waters. Thanks for the interesting multi Maccaholics.
Travelling around Australia and staying a few days at Mt Franklin.
We headed into the freezing cold with a plan to attempt many walking trails.
The weather was pretty cold, we saw rain hail and sleet! Wow a day to remember.

Found with the help of a previous finder Bogonghazy. Beautiful area and great places to see in a lovely area of the state. Thanks for showing me such gorgeous places xx
Visited Daylesford to find some caches in the town and stopped to grab this multi. It hadn't been found for awhile so thought I would bring some love to it. I parked in the spa carpark, grabbed my gear which included warm clothes and daypack and walked over to begin. The instructions were all straight forward and I proceeded to visit each waypoint in turn. WP2 coordinates were alittle off but after widening my search and logically thinking where plaques would be, found the poem.
By the time I reached WP4 the weather had turned from raining and windy to cloudless and sunny. So by the time I began my walk towards WP5, I was feeling really hot! Off came the layers of clothing so that by the time I reached Argyle Spring, I was wearing just a t-shirt and carrying everything else. Loved the walk, especially the remains of mining related activities in years gone by.
By the time I had to work out the final coordinates, my notebook was full of numbers and had to carefully decipher my handwriting and create a final GZ. It looked good so after repacking everything, returned along the trail and made my way to GZ. Upon arrival, quickly spotted the cache and was delighted to add my signature to the logbook under the previous finder.
A beautiful area and was thoroughly enjoyable to learn about the history of the springs in the area. Did contemplate going for a dip but the pull to continue caching was too strong. Off to grab lunch at Daylesford and tick off a few more caches in the area.
Thanks Maccaholics. Great multi! TFTC.

After caching in Daylesford, we decided to move on to Hepburn Springs so bear-cacher could savour the spring water on his first visit to the area, and for a spot of walking in the beautiful gardens. We collected the first bits of data - I spotted the WP2 information quicker than I expected - and started on the walk to Argyle Spring. Wow, that was a long and hard walk in the hot sun for me - I'm usually fit enough to easily handle this sort of thing but being 4 months pregnant really takes its toll on one's exercise tolerance. Eventually, we reached the spring, gathered the data and took a different route back to the calculated gz. We got there, looked around and then resorted to the hint. Uh, none of those within sight. I performed a re-calculation and realised I might have made an error. We did a drive-by the new gz and couldn't spot the described hide either and were getting restless so we moved on.
Determined to not log a DNF, especially after walking so darn far, we returned later that evening for another go. We tried the first gz again, I found WP2 and confirmed my error then went to our second-calculated gz. This time we actually got out of the car and bothered to walk in. We'd parked in a stupid place and bear-cacher bashed his way through some thorny yuk to find exactly what we were looking for.....and a much easier access path. TFTC Maccaholics.

Early this morning I walked from the first to the penultimate waypoint gathering the necessary information as I enjoyed the wander along the creek. I made the mistake of doing other things until after lunch when I decided to complete this lovely multi. The day was not and the last walk took MUCH longer than it should as its blackberry season. My fingers were sticky and stained purple from the juice and this was transferred to my gps. All in all a messy arrangement. With the final clue it was off to GZ to claim my hard earned smiley TFTC Maccaholics
We had all the numbers bar the last at the last huge flood event when they closed the track a few years ago,
Today we were close by and had the opportunity after a 20 km bushwalk. Unfortunately we had to walk a further 3 km to obtain both the last number for the co ordinate and the cache. Tftc

What a great walk. One of reasons for geocaching is that we are taken to nice places. This was no exception. Thank you.
# 6847. On our way to Daylesford today to get ourselves an Earth Cache and attend The Event. Robmc and I are also hoping to gather a few more during the day.
We started this one before going to the Event. We spent a long time here trying to find what we needed at WP2. We searched and searched but could not find. Went on to gather the information at the other waypoints but decided we were just wasting time.
At the event we were given the tiniest hint by a previous finder so we came back and searched again. I don't think I had walked past here but Rob says he did. We were however, quite some distance from where the GPS was saying WP2 was. Got the final parts of the puzzle and off to GZ for a nice quick find. Was very pleased to see it wasn't near the picnic areas as there were still a lot of people using the BBQ's at 3.30 in the afternoon.
Thanks Maccaholics

International Earthcache day and we had to go and celebrate with an Earthcache!
BettyBoo3747 and I decided on the Tipperary Springs event as we hadn't been to Daylesford for a while. While in the area we picked up a few other caches too.
We checked out the multi before the event, but had no luck at WP2, not finding the poem.
The walk to all the other springs was very nice though.
At the event 6Hinemoa2 gave us a little hint, and we returned. Not sure how we missed it!
Good spot for the final, as all the picnic areas were busy.
Thanks, Robmc.

Another multi for the weekend and another pleasant stroll learning new things. We tried all the springs that were functioning and decided tipperary spring tasted the best to us . Collected the clues and soon had a GZ calculated. Cache was soon found once at GZ. An interesting area and definitely worth the visit.

We are staying in a lovely little cottage in Hepburn Springs for the weekend, so decided this would be a good one to do on our electric pushbikes, and it was. I have never been to this part of the springs before, it is certainly lovely, thanks for bringing us here. We celebrated the find with a cuppa in the pavilion. TFTC
With a few of the pumps being out of order today, we didn't get quite as much spring in our step as we thought we would. After reading previous logs we made sure we had enough time to complete the walking elements. Took the high road back to GZ and dodged the cockatoo bombs between signing the cache. TFTC
Was not initially intending to do any multis today and got to this one by mistake. But once here could not leave until had the smiley. Started quite easy with first few WPs then faced the penultimate trek to the Argyle Spring. Pondered coming back another time, but no, must carry on and get this done! So off we went on an adventurous walk. Reached the spring, puzzled the final coords and headed back to GZ, close to where the car awaited our return. Easy find, quick log, good hide, great multi, TNLN TFTC Maccaholics.
Enjoy wandering around here.
Haven't been here for a long time...to my surprise things have been improved.
Thanks for bring me here and cache

Out for a walk with the geokids after a BBQ with some friends. Great day to be out and about. Tftc.
The drizzle had turned to rain by now and I had only just started this epic adventure. After walking around in circles at WP2 I finally found what I needed and then off I went to discover all the other springs that I didn't know about.
By now I was very wet but so far into the search that it didn't matter. I persisted and found the final info before finding the cache. Great co-ords meant that I wasn't in the rain for much longer. I sampled some of the springs along the way and the second last spring in particular was very nice.
TFTC and the fun. Maccaholics

On a week long course at nearby Bellinzona Grange. Great set of morning walks. Left a geotag. Took in some beautiful scenery. Tftc
Enjoyable walk on an overcast day. Not confident about the numbers but we found it.
Fun walk when staying nearby in Hepburn Springs. Loved the springs, though not everyone enjoyed the taste. TFTC
First multi find and we enjoyed the walk after a relaxing massage, even though it was drizzling! TFTC!
This was a beautiful walk and a challenge for one of us - the longest walk in over three months, following a fractured ankle. Mission: accomplished [^]
The path through the bush is peaceful and inspiring, though we did hear chainsaws working somewhere in the distance. Little did it matter that the last two springs did not allow us to try their water - the ones that flowed tasted rather "healthy". Great to walk here undisturbed by any other human visitors, at our pace!
Thank you for bringing us here and putting the spring back in our step
Took both TBs as they have been patiently sitting here waiting for visitors for quite some time. We will move them on soon.

Enjoyed this one on the way to Echuca, beaut walk in the cool morning air.
Thanks Maccaholics

Spent about an hour and a half in this area, was great to get a chance to visit some of the lesser known areas of the springs. A very beautiful and rewarding walk to WP5.
The GZ thankfully took us no further than that point! Thanks Maccaholics for the cache, a favourite of ours!

Finally found it! Geo husband not to be trusted with collecting info as he had us miles in the wrong direction! What a great cache and a lovely area. In the area for a few days for our wedding anniversary. Thought we had better try the couple here. Now off for high tea at peppers recommend that too! Tftc
We had a great walk and the water was very nice at location #4. Make sure you try it.
Unfortunately for us, it was getting dark so we were unable to get to location #5. However we did get all the numbers required to collect.
TFTC.

Our final cache on our final day in Daylesford for our NY retreat. We'd visited here once before and remember a lovely shady wander tasting various waters (mmm... terrible...), and with the impending heat of the day it seemed a good place to stop.
The kids were a couple of years older this time so joined us in the tasting of the waters, even finding one or two that they liked. Together we explored the nearby springs, with the kids even venturing through a rather long tunnel from one spring to another (hmm... not sure they should have done that!). For the last waypoint the kids started the journey with Dad, but soon started to fade in the heat, and combined with my concern of snakes on the path (we'd already spotted a blue tongue on the path!) I was pleased to let them wait it out at the playground.
Just as well as the path weaved and wandered up and around hills, wearying me to a bit of a frazzle until I stumbled upon the last spring. Just in time too as thirst was getting the better of me, but one never goes thirsty around here! Just as well it was a decent tasting one
With the final coordinates figured out it was a quick walk back to the others - who i found drenching their hats in spring water and wearing to cool them down with much laughter - and then alpha male and beta female wandered over for a quick find (cache is safe and in great condition), before washing the taste out of our mouths with some nice drinks at the cafe.
TFTC Maccaholics. A great end to our holiday.

Was unable to find the plaque at the second part of this multi, searched around a little before my GPS ran out of battery power. I must be missing something obvious.
Great place for families to come and have a picnic, let the kids play around and you can try some salty water that's a bit weird to taste I followed the casual multi clues around the property, and used my GPS to shortcut the walk into the bush. Turned around and had the cache in hand easily after a few minutes walk. Thanks for setting up a multi that's easy to understand and flowed together nicely.
Found by Team Ladava around 4.50 pm.
It was a glorious winter’s day so we had to get out of the house. I said to the better half, north, south, east or west and she chose Daylesford.
That girl was worth marrying 42 years ago and she came in handy at WP2 as I had cache blindness for the plaque with the poem. ‘Senior moment’
The walk to WP4 was a bit much for her so she sat in the sun while the dog and I enjoyed a little exercise.
Locations like this are 'the icing on the cake' of Geocaching with the locals hosting us anonymously to their favourite spots.

Our thanks to juzmac (OK, I printed this one out in 2008 so that may not be you current team name) for the cache and bringing us to this location.

I managed to solve the questions by searching the net b4 arriving but I was being cocky and karma got me back! In my overconfidence I input the wrong coords and ended up on a long walk to nowhere hahaha.
Spending a weekend with mates in Daylesford and decided to do this cache. Lovely walk to the 5th location followed by a quick find at the final location. Not many muggles about.
Catching up on on a few hundred missed logs
Found with bucketeer
Thanks for the hunt

I'd never visited the springs before so having a cache to find was a bonus. The kids and I really enjoyed sampling the different waters and what lovely setting to boot. Unfortunately after the trek to the last spring we discovered that the pump was out of order., but it was good bit of exercise.
Thanks for his interesting cache
