Hubby told me to go out & do something fun for an hour while he watched the kids = time for a hunt! Smile Almost didn't complete this one as a long black snake slithered across the road on my way there eek! Pluggers were not the best choice of footwear especially after seeing my little buddy and every grasshopper that landed on me had me jumping out of my skin! I got a bit distracted by some of the tracks going up the hill and was wandering around for way too long looking for a big white tree as per clue. Given I had been stomping around with a nearby snake for so long I was determined to find this one! Went back to GPS pin and instead started looking for a pile of rocks and there it was! Cache in good condition guarded by a nest of green ants! Thanks yogie for a nice little adventure TNLN SL TFTC

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there yogie71. We found your cache "BLACK RIVER CACHE" at 11:10:00 AM today.
This was our only find today. (So this now makes our find count 9762.)
[Blue]
We are trying to log at least one cache every day, so we can add to our streak of "Most Consecutive Days Cached", which we started on New Years Day 2014.

We attempted this cache some years ago, without success, using the coordinates from a previous log. (We guess we didn't log the DNF though [xx(]). Today we ignored the previous logs and found the cache quite near the published coordinates, just a few metres up hill from a fallen tree with a pile of rocks at its base. (Is this the tree mentioned in the hint?) when we turned around to descend, the view over the mountains from here was quite spectacular.

[Green]Thanks for placing a large cache here. After caching for well over ten years it is really sad to note that the trend of placing small caches (without swaps) is increasing. While nanos and eclipse tins sometimes have their place in an urban environment these, along with 200ml Sistemas, seem to be the norm these days even out in more remote areas. It made us feel really glad to find a large, kid friendly cache here.[/Green] SmileSmile
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 6m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Some cache trash and a melted candle.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Out caching today with MattCNS and Mtn Pygmy Possum. We almost gave this cache a miss today, as the Police were patrolling the area on an ATV. Thankfully, they were packing up when we arrived and weren't too bothered by our presence. So up the hill we walked and after a brief search, Mtn Pygmy Possum found the prize.

On a caching mission with RobS72 and MattCns inclusive of this cache. Police ATVs, a wallaby, and anxious neighbours aside, don't bush-bash any more than you have to on this one. Our trip up to the cache was far more wild than our trip back to the car. Also check for ticks after as just after I found the cache, I also found a tick clambering on my leg. TFTC!

Our caching streak survives! A DNF on our first pick of cache for today saw us arrive here after the sun was down but with just enough light to make the search without torches.Like others before us the GPSr showed GZ as being about 15m away but the hise was plain enough for us to walk straight to it.

Found it! We could not get the corrected coordinates from the past log because we only had the GPS, which only gives us a few logs from the GPX file. So we decided to not really use the coordinates at all. Just looked for white hollow trees. Beware of the long grass and travel ticks...

DNF at 1.10pm in the company of The Drovers.
We managing to get the car within 180 metres of the cache and then made the trek up the hill. After quite a search at GZ we resorted to the hint - no white tree with a hollow in it near GZ, read some logs found out that the cache was about 20 metres from GZ - North,South, East, West? Apparently there were some corrected co-ords in previous logs but we had no access to these logs on the GPS. Perhaps the cache owner could update the co-ords to help us poor suffering souls [xx(].

As with previous finders, we were able to park relatively close by, only leaving a trek of less than 100 metres to the GZ.
We used the updated co-ordinated supplied by Caching which had us in the right area to locate the cache with minimal fuss.
Both the cache and logbook are in good condition.
Thanks Yogie71 for this well aged cache hide.

Lots a spear grass to fill my sock here.
I couldn't find the cache anywhere and the hint was of no use.
I gave up and was heading back to the car when i noticed something suspicious. BINGO, cache found.
Thanks

This took some searching through the long grass, no snakes but plenty of green ants and spear grass. Nice hide, took nothing left Dolphin 2 Surf board. TFTC!

#193 On the way home from the Viva cache, we stopped in to grab the hide.

First challenge was to get my car close to Gz. I'm way to low for this type of track. Next, was getting up the hill without meeting any snakes. We didn't have the footwear for this type of track.

At Gz, we found a white tree that was hollowed a bit, with rocks, and had clearly had an animal slide in and out, or someone was searching in there. No cache but.

The needle kept pointing me down the hill but there were no trees down there. We gave up and we started down the hill when I fell over a fallen tree in the grass. As I got up, is saw a pile of rocks, and then the cache was found.

Cheers

10-Apr-12
Another great Yogie cache.
Managed to park only 80m from GZ and make the trek up.
The place is covered in waist high grass and made the going slow today.
I used the updated coords from previous finders and had it in no time.

Cheers and happy caching.

Looked around aimlessly for a while with no luck until Psilonette had the bright idea to check the log for new coords. They were fairly off also but in the right direction and sure enough she found it in time. TFTC.

12-Oct-11
Another one that's been in the GPSr way too long taunting me on every visit to TSV as I drove past. Not today though. Found the right dirt road and pulled up short of the gate with the nasty sign. Checked the logs and corrected the coords which brought the cache some 15m closer! Headed uphill and noted the fallen tree then made the find. These containers last don't they? The CO is long gone I think but they live on. Signed and replaced. Some noobs have signed this month but not logged online it seems.
Thanks!

Coords were a little out, but with a bit of scrambling over the slope we were able to find the cache. Cheers Gav [9011]

Like others, found this one to be way off the mark, and found largely by accident.

Suggest coords be updated to S19 13.867, E 146 37.906, and the clue updated to note looking for a fallen tree.

Thanks for a decent walk though - took about 5 mins each way. 100m from parking.

Thanks

Well at 5 from 5 on the ANZAC Day hunt. This one created a bit of a challenge though. I was also about 13 metres off GZ and there were several downed trees which fit the bill, just none with a cache hidden with. After a 30 min search of my ever widening GZ, I packed it in and as I walked down the hill fell over the cache! What do you know, I was looking south, east and west, but didn't venture far enough north off GZ. Quickly signed the log, replaced and staggered down hill for some water.

TFTC .... TNLN .... SL

Coords I had at the hide were S 19 13.865 E 146 37.909

GeoBoyC had the blinkers on today but the eyes of a great hunter "Jibba Jabba" spotted a likely spot as the tree has finally given up & fallen over. Cache is still in good order with plenty of room in the log book. Thanks yogi71 for taking me to another rare location of TV. TNLNSL T4TC

As for everyone else, need to do a bit of a circular search to find this one (out about 15metres), Very hot day even at 6:00am. Got a short glimpse of a wallaby, but even they are not stupid enough to be out in the heat. Tree is still there, but on the ground. TN L packet of tree seeds. TFTC

Finally found this cache. Two pieces of advice. 1. Don't even bother attempting this one at night on our first attempt we were not even close and the terrain is not good for night caching. 2. Yes the coords are out by about 16 metres. Its more obvious than you think.
I did search the whole area when I was heading towards the car it was obvious. I was glad to grab this one.
Nice view of other mountains from this cache. TNLN Thanks for bringing me here. Cat from Cat and Bear.

Ah the not so tall any more tree. I too found the co-ords off and actually passed the proper spot still climbing up. wasnt till I had given up and was coming back down the now well trodden goat track that I found it. Gees it was a hot day at noon.
