Nice little camping spot. Lots of birds and a little creek behind the weir. Container has a hole in the lid, tried to place it so rain couldn't get in, but time will tell. Perhaps next GCer could replace with another regular size container? Log is water damaged but still good for signing
Left some loot x2 for the geokids.
Grabbed TB that's been here for nearly 6 months!

Very easy find… short walk, watch for snakes. If you find a rocky area you are in the right spot.

Found it! Log book is wet

Log was soaking wet, but I just managed to sign it. The dam is a very pretty place and somewhere I would never consider going, but for geocaching. Thank you for bringing me here.

What a disgrace. 44 finds just short of its 15th birthday and its easy. Cmon people get out here. Camped here east find and was on my way. Favourite for the ground plants and the age of the cache. Tftc tnln. Could do with a clean up inside the cache though.

Orange 2020 Day 2. I headed out for a long weekend away with Fitzy1965 & MinnieK to cache between Orange and Dubbo. We explored forests and towns and camped at Macquarie Wood. The weather was great and we managed to visit many more caches than I ever expected. After a leisurely start to the morning we climbed into the car to head to Dubbo, but it took all day to get there via Orange, Manildra, Parks and Tomingly.

Thanks.

fitzy_1965, albida33 & I headed out for a long weekend away. Basing ourselves at Macquarie Woods, we ended up visiting Orange, Parkes, Dubbo and lots of towns inbetween.

Day 2 saw us head out from our campsite and rambling up towards Dubbo.....14 hours later we were back at camp.

More 4wding to get to this one from the last....and again happy for no water....although we desperately need it! Fairly quick find at GZ.

20,258. Found with minniek and albida33 during a Canberra Day Long Weekend caching meander around the Orange/Parkes/Dubbo regions.

A plan was hatched for the three of us to head up this way for some quality caching over the 3 days. Day 2 and we headed off for further adventures. Next stop of the day - and once the way in was sorted it was up for a quick find. The lake is totally dry !

Thanks buckling-wheels !!

Hi there buckling-wheels.

We found your cache **"dame!!!"** today. (This makes our find count 19383).

Today we cached to the eastwards, to Manildra, Boree & Molong, before heading back to our camp at Parkes. The aim of the day was to cache along some roads we haven't traveled on since we became full time grey nomads, so we can draw another line on our wall map).Smile

We found 17 caches today (DNF'd 1) .We thoroughly enjoyed our cache raid but are disappointed at the number of poorly maintained caches along our route. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels. Thanks also for not placing a mint tin or a 200ml Sistema here. It made us feel really good to find this "special" cache here.

***Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The cache was soaked, we spent some time drying it out, but it still needs some "Owner TLC".
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

Came to this cache the back way, what a fun drive! Thank gods it's the end of summer, it should have been nerve wracking with some water for my little AWD with no recovery gear. The dam was completely dry but I enjoyed the view and the drive out. Thanks again buckling-wheels

TNLN, TFTH, log was wet could not sign. Found while exploring with family.

Found on a weekend visit with relatives in Parkes during which time we introduced them to the world of geocaching. This find was incorporated into a drive around the area which looks wonderful after the recent rains and as an added bonus we got to see the dam spilling over...and found the nearby cache. The log was a little damp so was unable to sign with the pen so have uploaded picture of the log in lieu of signing. TFTC buckling_wheels; a great cache for newbies (but lesson number one...always bring a decent pen) Smile

I had to head to Parkes today for a meeting so I took the opportunity to load up the GPSr and grab a few caches during the trip.

This one was not too far from the location of my site inspection so I made the most of the opportunity and took the 'fun' road back out to the main road.

Thanks buckling-wheels for the cache.

There is nothing like a dame Smile
Nothing in the world !!
There is nothing you can name that is anything like a dame Razz

A dame nice spot for a cache, by the way Big Grin

I wonder it there is a cache hidden here ?
Yep indeed !!
And what a great little drive through the countryside to get here [^]

I do think the dam is past its use by date though and will never again hold water, at least permanently.
It could however be a bit of a dam nuisance if heavy rains fall and do fill the lake behind it ... and the dam fails [:o]

Well that's in the future, so TFTC [^]

Loved the little hike today. No water in the dam but still a nice area. Took me 10 minutes to find but it was worth it.

Had a travel bug with me for the visit too.

Found after a nice drive in.
It says in logbook a muggle kid found it recently whilst looking for lizards, good on him for putting it back

It was here that I had picked to camp for the night, well, in the area at least. We picked a spot not far from here with water views and settled in for the night. Lucky the youngest daughter is a sound sleeper cause I don't think she would have enjoyed the barking owl that setup VERY close to the tent and decided to "serenade" me for ages. Most disconcerting noise I can assure you of that!!

We had come in via up the creek and took the LH deviation in the track which brought us to some very exciting 4WD action in the creek, so many entries and exits to choose from to cross that dry creek, low 4 and it was an easy down and up, but a lot of fun!

Will be back here I think, it's a really nice spot to just sit and relax.

Cheers

With the rain starting to fall again i drove to within 20m of this one. Gotta love a drive by. An intresting place which i would of liked to explore more (just not in the rain).

A very nice area. The water shimmering with the early morning sun and the breeze through the trees provided a tranquil environment. Cache in good condition. TNLN. Thanks buckling-wheels

Great Place to hide a cache, must of walked past it many times before we even knew about the sport.

17-Feb-07
Had a bit of an interesting journey but enjoyed it all the same. We looked the spot up on google maps before we came and thought there was a good road through the national park. After heavy rain it was a very ordinary road, but we had a great drive through the bush and at least there was no sign of recent bushfires. We arrived at the wall and parked only to find we were at the wrong end. Not knowing where the road led we decided to walk the 500m to the other side, watched by a number of roos. Found easy and managed to find our way out. Getting there took longer than anticipated but in a such a nice place we didn't mind, if only we had a 4WD!
