It was a beautiful day for our last day in Stanthorpe so I found a few caches before we headed off to Toowoomba. Lovely morning for a walk out here.
What a great view of the railway bridge and a lovely spot in general. The hide could have taken quite a while with all the options but the coordinates led us to it quite quickly.Another very cool day today, but the sun was out much earlier and at least the day seemed brighter even if the temperature wasn't.We decided to have a quieter day so the emphasis was on the Lab in town and some sightseeing and whatever caches that took us near.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Smouch.**SKI Pair****
Had a look as best as possible but there were a number of muggles at the spot. Will try again next time were in town.
Took a bit but found it rubbish and nappies everywhere and something else - not sure what it was but wasn't touching it signed as SFC. TFTC.
Took a bit of searching and clambering over rocks but we eventually found it. Such a pretty spot, I love the cute little wooden bridge. Tftc
Took a bit of climbing but managed to locate it. Such a beautiful area. TFTC
We were here doing the earth cache and finishing the A.L. . I climbed over the rocks. All good here
Day out on Granite Belt with Grandie#4. She (when not distracted by nuts, seeds, flowers and bees) is quite good at geocaching. She can climb rocks, unhindered by bad knees and dogie ankles. Will put her hands and fingers wherever I feel I might not like to.Once again, distracted by the beautiful running creek, eventually got grandie#4 keen again, and back on track. Over, above behind we searched in places I cannot normally go any more. But driven by a write note by Captain Terror, and as this was my third attempt here, I found muscles I forgot I had and continued onward and upwards and around, while grandie#4 took a more boulderous route. There is no such word as boulderous, but I do think it suits this area.Once she knew what a Lomandra was and what way was west, she was on track and found the cache and passed me the piece of paper left by the previous cacher. Don't know why the previous cacher added just a piece of paper, when there was a lovely logbook sitting inside a nice dry baggie. Anyway, I signed both, returned both to the baggie, and passed it back to Grandie#$4 who was waiting patiently for permission to go and paddle in the creek. Which, after ensuring I was out of danger of falling, she did. Thanks Smouch for the hide and the adventure. Favorite point for my third attempt and the smilie
Visiting the area. Finished work early so I could take a walk and look for this one.
I thought maybe it had gone missing ... but sometimes all it takes is to come in from a different angle.
Apart from the TB ... which I picked up ... there is not much in the container. Such a shame that swap items don't seem to be a thing these days.
I had a piece of paper in my bag, which I used for a log. Will come back to this one and put a few more trinkets into the container.

All I found was rubbish people had left behind which is sad. There were even 2 dirty nappies. It's very disheartening that people have no respect for areas like this. It's not hard to keep your rubbish and put it in the bin. Will come back later and try again and take a rubbish bag with me to clean up also
I came to look again at the RB and creek this morning. While here I checked the map and specifically this oldie. The last log from locals concerned me. Given I was standing 40 metres away, I figured I'd see how good my memory is from finding this back in 2012.
Lucky, I hopped up on the rocks and the app pointed me to an area that made sense. Then I noticed geocache bits scattered about. Damn, it's been muggled. I found the stash note, lid and a swap but no logbook. The container was tucked way down in the crevice, but I fished it out. I put it all back together and replaced in a sensible location at the co-ordinates. The next finders may wish to shout it a logbook?
Hint: You'll need to be standing right by a lomandra and look west into the crack. Under a piece of wood. Good luck

Today I had a plan to replace/maintain caches along the New England that did not belong to us.
Mostly they belonged to 2 shadows, with one Team Robins. It was cold and windy, the first cold day of autumn.
Decided to also finish of the ADLAB so ended up at this beautiful location. Had previously attempted on my own, after doing the earthcache.
Second attempt this time with Mr D. Must have looked a bit strange - a couple of elderlies clambering over rocks. Needless to say, we did not find again, but happy that I could share the location with Mr D this time.

This weekend, an overnighter at Girraween National Park was planned with the aim to tackle Mount Norman. An early start on Saturday had me attend Warwick parkrun and visit Warwick, Leslie Dam, Stanthorpe, and then Girraweeen to walk to Underground Creek. On Sunday, it was a walk/hike through Girraween's south vicinity visiting Mount Norman, Castle Rock, and Turtle Rock, before venturing across the NSW border, and then heading northwards via Ballandean and Stanthorpe, detouring past the *Elementary* series and *Stan's Apple* series.
Today, my plan was starting out the day with Warwick parkrun at 07:00 hr, and subsequent geocaching within the Warwick area. I also visited Leslie Dam which was a nice picnic spot, before then detouring back through Warwick for a late breakfast, and continued my onwards journey south along the New England Highway to Stanthorpe. I found a few of the *Snow Flakes* granite geocaches, partially conducted the *Fruit Run*, drove east past Stanthorpe Airport finding some of the *Stan's Apple* geoart, before then visiting Mt Marley and Quart Pot Creek. We then took a late afternoon walk in Girraween National Park to Underground Creek, before establishing our campsite for the night.
Davinells had mentioned that this was on her target list, and I was happy to pick up this oldie, so we caught up at the parking waypoint, and took the walk to GZ. Once we arrived, it wasn't long before I found the cache, and we added our names accordingly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Green Gecko and RandR / Smouch for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 12/2005 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 500 oldest yet active geocaches.

Heading down to Girraween for the weekend and made a few stops along the way.
I have wanted this oldie for a while so left a little earlier to make sure I had time to grab it. Met up with Davidwazza and headed down towards the water. Cool spot to visit and after a short search we had the cache in hand. Tftc Smouch

Doing the nearby earth cache and decided to try find this one. Spotted a lizard while I was looking for it.

Grateful for a 2020 log photo putting us exactly where we needed to be. About 8m from where the GPS wanted us. Granite does impact GPS so it’s to be expected but so many hidey holes! Lovely view of the bridge.
Hey got it but yes had to use spoiler photo. Close to bridge than co ordinates give
PirateLinda and I have come down for Beardman75’s Catch-up in Stanthorpe event tonight… Apparently people come here in the middle of winter… for fun… Being our only full day in town, it was all about Girraween…
Having conquered Girraween, we’re making our way back towards our accommodation… this oldie was a must do for the weekend… I’d had some intel on the hide and used the pics to narrow down GZ…
After that it was a nice quick find in the fading light… removed some rubbish and returned everything as found…

Another find on Peppa and PirateLinda's Brisbane to Stanthorpe Jaunt.
Caching has brought us to yet another lovely spot.

Octogen is a gas that radiates raw, unbound magic. It is similar to the metal octiron.
We searched around a bit while trying to download photos and eventually spotting it. Thanks for the cache
Scrambled around for a little while without any luck then read the previous logs. So with help of the spoiler photo, found the cache which is in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely location. Tftc
Found with help from a 2020 photo, a bit off coordinates. Photo shows fast flowing creek, but not a spoiler. TftC.
GPS may have been off but we found a big crack in the area we thought but nothing there. Searched around but no luck. Maybe next time.
What a fantastic spot. I found the container and added my SG for stortigirls after taking photos of the wonderful scenery and collecting info for another nearby cache. Tftc!
Well that kept the kids entertained for quite a while! Thanks for the previous photos we couldn’t have done it without them
Needs a new pen soon

Tftc and for showing us this beautiful spot.

The Mrs and I thought we’d do some caching whilst camping nearby we wandered down to this beautiful little spot you’d never know existed without a lovely cache helping us find it. After about 20 mins searching we could not locate until like others we read the previous logs and quickly found the cache. What a lovely spot! Thanks for the cache
We had a bit if trouble finding this cache so we started reading some previous logs. Okay... we now knew we had to widen our search and with the help of Karicka’s photo in the log we soon nailed it. Very good. Happy to have found this one. All is dry and in good condition.
And what a wonderful bridge it is!
Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.

Beautiful spot - would have never have found otherwise! Dog friendly too App coords are well off. Scroll through the comments until you find the spoiler picture from GZ posted in December.
Unfortunately we were unable to find it. The compass kept changing.
Will try again another day.
Will try again another day.
Heading to Stanthorpe for caching. Took two extra days of. Yippee. Now day two.
One of my main things today was trying to complete the Unique Difficulty/Terrain Challenge. Of course one was for my next D/T loop, still one to go on my 5th loop.
The funny thing is I did try to keep records of what I did today, so hard doing by yourself.
As I log everything hopefully everything works out and I kept good records.
Todays haul 43 and the breakdown is 5 traditional, 33 mystery, 3 Earthcache and 2 Letterbox. Lots of fun finding caches or learning stuff about the local area.
Thank you CO for bringing me to outback Queensland.
Sorry for the generic log

Found it. Nice walk in next to the river and a great spot. My 50th cache and one of my favourite. Thanks!!!!
Visiting Stanthorpe for the weekend and picking up caches in the area. Walking along the creek is beautiful and the big railway bridge is very impressive. After a little search we found this cache safe and sound. Thank you bringing us her.
Spending an amazing week in the area. After the recent rain, it is beautiful and lush. I have never seen so much water around. TFTC.
Coords a bit out but eventually found. Pen lost but signed Isopeda
So cool to have made it to the Mega now to get the caches we spent months solving and other nearby caches. On our way home now via Toowoomba.
On a trip north to get to Dayboro with Kittykatch, Isopeda and Barb2e. Been lots of fun and laughs.

Thanks for hiding this cache Smouch

Managed to lose my pen on the last few meters and none of us brought another one, backtracked but couldn't find it. Signed with a stick.
On a big road trip with Kittykatch, Joolay and barb2e and on our way back south.

Side to GZ, continuing our stroll after lunch a great little spot. Coord out a couple of meters but who cares the waters flowing!
A quick overnight trip away with my mum. I had previously emptied most of the town with several visits. However this one has eluded me. Today it was my only must get and get we did. Thankfully I am good at photo matching.
Pleased to grab another oldie.

Crazy morning taking care of business. Still suffering some dental pain. So decided to wander over here this arvo and have another squiz. It’s a beautiful spot and there are recent finds.
This definitely wasn’t an easy find. It definitely wasn’t a quick find. And definitely not quite on the coords. The wonderful news is that I did find the cache Like previous finders the photo was helpful. So I took my own souvenir pic close to GZ
TFTC GG and RandR, dropping a FAVE point for this special location

Found it with help from the picture. It was still pretty hard though as you couldn’t see it unless moving some things around. Really cool location with the bridge and rocks.
I was blessed enough to spend the weekend away, caching and camping in Texas, Stanthorpe, Girraween and Toowoomba. The weather and company were perfect. Not so the loud and obnoxious teenagers camping next door! That aside, it was a fabulous weekend.
This cache took a whole lot of looking, and even then you had to have your head at the right angle to find it. The spoiler pic certainly helps.

After seeing the Southern Downs steam train at Stanthorpe station, we raced around here to watch it traverse the bridge over Quart Pot Creek. A few impressive photos later we wandered down to the creek to have a look for this cache.
I think the terrain should be a bit higher as it did require a fair bit of rock scrambling and took a while as we found it finally about 6m off gz. Thanks to a previous finder's photo we narrowed down the location to the correct rock pile.
Great spot for train and creek views. A bit hot to hang around too long in the sun today though.

I have just had the best weekend caching around the Warwick, Summit and Stanthorpe areas. With caching buddies (geonayfee, Willis007 and Triple Turmoil) for the weekend we got in a very large number of caches, completing the apple geoart, the fruit run and a few other special caches along the way. I had a fantastic weekend with lots of laughs and funny events it just made for a fun time; the puzzle solving in the lead up to the weekend was great also.
A big thanks to all the CO’s of the caches along the way; for placing and maintaining the caches for us to enjoy. Visiting this area and seeing places I would never see in a normal trip here was enlightening, so again thanks.
In the weekend I got around 180 caches so firstly apologies for the generic part to the log, I do not remember all specifically but some did stand out so I will add a little to those in my posts.
Day two and it was an early start, there is so much still to get in the area. A fun and eventful day in many ways, lol.
this one took a little while to find but so happy when i grabbed it, thought for a second to sign it and let the others keep looking but we were on a mission this weekend.

After meeting Willis007 and Chamad at a previous event over New Years, they invited me to join them on an epic geoart mission at Stanthorpe. After weeks of puzzling and planning, today was the day (together with Nayfee). We covered a lot of mileage, had a lot of laughs and learnt a lot along the way.
Between Warwick and Stanthorpe there are a LOT of caches to sign and we did a pretty good job of getting every single one we could - signed as Twocan to save 25 seconds of signing at each cache, as we had work to do!

Heading out to Stanthorpe this weekend to grab some of the wonderful caches on offer out here. Our group of Triple Turmoil, CHAMAD and NayFee signed logs as team TWOCAN.
This one took us a while to find, we were very happy when CHAMAD made the found it call.
Thank you for the cache Green Gecko and RandR.

Day two on our epic journey around Stanthorpe and surrounds with Chamad, TripleTurmoil and Willis007.
After some much needed rest we woke up bright and early (Thanks Chamad for the farmyard sounds) and set off for another full day of caching around Stanthorpe to clear up the rest of the Stanthorpe Apple and a few other caches in between, then we slowly made our way back north towards Warwick while grabbing a bunch of caches we didn't get yesterday.
Same as yesterday we had a wonderful time exploring the area. I really enjoy visiting this part of the world, it's a great feeling to get out of the city and enjoy the country life.
Thank you to each and every CO for placing caches at these locations. We had a great time.
