Brought the kids out here for a drive. I thought they might be interested in the view from the other side of the river.
They had a great time playing on the rocks but weren't interested in looking for the cache.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

The idea was to head to the Coast early on Friday morning picking up no more than half a dozen caches along the way. We limited ourselves to this as we know from previous experience that it can take over six hours to do an hour and a quarter trip if you are geocaching as well.. Once we got to the coast, we were going to do the Cape Foulwind walk, then cache as much as we could from there back to town. We then intended to do as much of the K.R.T caches before retiring for the night and in the morning do the Charming Creek Walk before heading back home again picking up the odd cache along the way. In the end it was mission achieved with 74 finds over two days and only one DNF along the way.
After our trip from Blenheim, severely limiting the amount of caches we grabbed along the way, we arrived at the carpark around 10am. After getting changed into more appropriate caching attire we walked the track to Tauranga Bay picking up all the caches in order apart from the nearby multi. After completing the Cape Foulwind walk, we headed back towards Westport picking up as many caches as we could along the way.
We came out here after going to the initial waypoint of Craddocks of the Buller figuring we could work out the final of the multi while we here and with luck find it on the way back. The hardest thing about this cache was finding the hinted item which was a lot smaller than I was expecting. Once that was found, it was a QEF PnG. We weren't sure what all of the people on the other side of the river thought abought what we were doing, but later in the day we were there ourselves and are now confident they were not even looking our way.
We now have a likely looking location for the multi which if everything goes to plan, we will get after Halt the Erosion.

On West Coast travels for a wee family holiday. Staying nearby so came out to have a looksee. Cool spot. Drove right to the end...interesting spot for a 3 point turn - Mrs TG and the boys not impressed! LOL. Cheers!
Took a drive out here to have a look. Delighted with the scenery on a calm, sunny morning and delighted to find there was a cache here too. Neatly hidden and the contents are in good order. Thanks for this placement, another favourite added.
We left for our Waitangi Weekend in Westport on Friday night. Last night was spent at Carter's Beach Top 10. We being JDSCOUT and I.
We had lunch in our camper near the light house. We decided to walk up as turning the campervan in that area would probably have been tricky.

Thanks. cap10xs for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find 4608 for me.

This was the 13th find on out South Island trip of 2016. After doing parts of the Tauranga Bay walk we were driving back through on our way up to Denniston. We stopped here for lunch with a lovely view and in an area a bit more muggle free that the side with all the brave (crazy?) surfers. It really has a great view and it was nice to get this cache at the end of the Buller River as a few days later we got the one at the source of the river. The cache was easy enough to find at ground zero and we quickly had it logged and replaced without any muggles around. Thanks for the cache!
A long weekend proved to be just what it said on the tin; a weekend that was long. With mrs capperz trapped in work for 2 of the 3 days this weekend a plan was made to head over to the West Coast for some caching, with the added bonus of some fine weather too. Forecast was for clear skies and low 4, high of 15 degrees, which is some preferred caching weather. Also in possession of a geocaching map of Westport being virgin territory there was every chance of finding a 'few'.
A slight chance of one of 2 FTFs in Westport and the bait was dangled and too good to not take a swipe at. Headed off at 0830 on Sunday and got back around 1830 on Monday so a full on couple of days with park n grabs, beachside specials and a walk along the Cape Foulwind walkway (there wasn't any wind, and it wasn't foul so thinking of renaming it Cape Nicesun.
Day 2 of our trip and most caches were on the Western side of the Buller river. Nice and easy find here as we head towards (in a zig-zaggingly styled) the Foulwind walkway
Familiar story here; nightowl19 searched as per the hint, nothing found. capperz repeated and found the cache. Nice placement here, F P for the hide/location/age/view

Did not find this cash. Looked all around the area, no sign of it. Lovely location thought, brilliant views.
Not sure if it is still there or if I need climbing boots to scramble down rocks further. Certainly a skirt and heels high tide and crashing waves weren't conducive to rock climbing. Will have to come back again. Disappointed today
After finding our B&B we drove out to this really windy spot. I had to go down and find the cache, that was well hidden.

Great spot to look back at Westport and appreciate its charm. A fav from me purely because of its location.
My son really found this one , but I got it out as the location seemed a bit too full of spiders etc for him. Cool cache - cheers TFTC
Relatively find, but not under any plant.. kinda obvious though, so it wasn't that hard.. I was alone on the very tip too so noone to see what I did here.

Drove out here and made breakfast. Cold and wet. But found the cache. Hadn't been found this year. Tftc
#7593. We were glad the cache description gave us pretty clear instructions on where to look; otherwise it could have been a looonnnnggg search. A pleasant spot on a sunny winter day. TFTC.
It was interesting to be on this side of the river after driving down to the end of the eastern breakwater yesterday. A fisherman was nearby but he didn't seem concerned to see people hunting around the rocks. StreetWalker found it after examining a few other potential hiding places.
The terrain is a tad more challenging tha its 1 and a half rating and we were fortunate to be looking in fine calm weather. Good to find an older cache still in existence. TFTC.

After waiting for sometime for a muggle to move on finally found! Found with FX3_dynamic on our caching tour of NZ!
Ok so I didn't remember my Port from my starboard. Got there in the end as the sun sunk in the west.

Had a couple of goes at this one. First time water was splashing upon the rocks. Made a second attempt and found pretty easily. TFTC.
Two pairs of eyes made the diff here, Thornbill got this for us, well done Polly! Great spot..... TFTC
Took a bit longer as there seems to have been a bit of cache drift, to the right, no worries as the place was deserted. Beautiful warm afternoon.

We never thought we would get 3000 caches. This one has to be special. I wasn't sure about trying to get to it. Peter was determined. I dont know what the people on the other side thought. It is a favorite. TFTC
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
After staying the night in Westport we spent the morning picking up a few caches around town before heading out to Cape Foulwind. We decided to head to the seal colony and we called in at this one on the way past. Quick find at GZ, there were some cool birds sitting on the rocks near by. TFTC

Found it in beautiful worm winter morning on walkaway around the beach here. Love this kind of winter. TFTC
Tricky to find, very well hidden - can't see the fern until you are further down. Watch children!!! TFTC
The accurate hint helped to locate this cache, although we missed it on our first look. The 1.5 terrain is questionable. An interesting place to go to, although the only boating activity this morning was a jet ski crossing the river mouth and back. TFTC
Bit of a search around but soon got there. Unfortunate that we were on the port bow when loading this cache. TFTH

A short drive out to the end of the road. A great spot for a panorama picture. Watched a couple of small craft going in and out. Nice hide and great spot to visit. TFTC

An interesting night cache. GZ was soon established but what now. Looked around and activated the hint. What? Ferns? After applying some rusty moves the well camo-ed and hidden cache was located. Great fun. TFTC
A night visit to this cache seemed advisable due to too many muggles during the day and early evening. With torch in hand Hazedarus made the find while I stood on safer ground reminding him to "be careful". TFTC.
On a caching trip with Holymu destination West Coast. I never thought for one minute that ferns could grow in this environment. Did a thorough check but no luck.
We have gone fishing plenty of times out here and never thought to check whether there was a cache. She was fairly stormy out there but we found it. TFTC
Number 6 of 8 in 90 minutes at Carters Beach. We did this in the darkness with a full moon over Westport. Wow. So many lights left and right and in the middle of Buller River. It's beautiful. The cache container was protected by a spider sitting in a big web. How do they know how to create this? That's always a miracle to me. We had to destroy the web. I'm so sorry.
Doing a few whle visiting the local area.....
Spent a long time watching the wildlife! Amazing.
Thanks for setting this up.

Took a while to locate this one at last found using hint of distance from light.
Noticed a Seal swimming just below GZ possibly looking for dinner

A cache with an aroma. Loved the shags, and even spotted some Hectors Dolphins. Spent half an hour sitting out of the wind watching the dolphins chase fish in the river mouth. Awesome! TFTC
We drove out to GZ, there was a coastal road marked on our map which didn;t exist but found the access eventually.
We had dinner here as the sun set, a great spot.

A quick find in the rain while in Westport for the day. The river was flowing powerfully after previous rainfall, very impressive. Signed log, TFTC!
Spotted the dolphins just brushing the surface of the river mouth before we spotted the cache! Nice spot, TFTC!
I found the cache at the other end of the river a few days ago so it seems fitting that I got this one as well. The tiphead was lined with whitebaiters and sundry hangers on but they were all too preoccupied to notice us as I nabbed the cache. An interesting location with lots of birdlife but the smell was fierce. The sea was calm today but I have been here watching fishing boats fight their way in over the bar in terrible conditions. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC - 12 of 19.
I thought the whitebaiters round here were bad enough but didnt relise the press knew we were here too !!! so many cameras just for us ---- but wait no whats that smell yup lots and lots of shags (birdlife) luckily just a tiny bit before the cache - wandered in behind the last row of cameras and managed to do the cache !!! phew ( wasnt really dressed for glam shots anyway !! thanks for the cache signed log
Had a feeling we looked for this one before and as we approached the GZ we had to contend with all the "fisherman" and a group of photographers. We managed to hang off the back of the group and recover the cache TFTC.
I do enjoy coming to a cache that has stood the test of time. GPS had me wondering, but good hint and I had it quite quickly. Now hang on to every thing in gale force gusts. Blow being a boatie here.
Despite very specific hint we could not find it. The only object that matched the hint was however North-East and an empty hole. Have to come back or see, whether other cachers have more success.
Just a quick stop on our way home, will have to complete the other caches another day. Was a good wind blowing, so Carters beach was looking impressive with all the sand blowing along at ground level. Also some pretty funny looking birds sitting around on the rocks doing some fishing.

We had to wait until some muggles moved on before we could retrieve the cache so spent time time taking photos until finally they backed off (literally). Then it was a quick find. TFTC
Took a bit of zeroing in on GZ, partly because we'd made assumptions about compass points. - - - Once we waited for muggles to depart, got our directions sorted and waited for the GPS to settle, everything came together. TFTC.
Day trip to Deniston it would have been a tough life up there no view from the top today as the clouds low
Yay. Another Cap10xs cache. That's a leap back in time. Better result than the #*#$! cache on the other side. Many thanks.
On our trip through New Zealand we found this cache. It was a short stop in Westport. TFTC!
Classic. Awesome spot for a cache. Rock hopped a bit to get to it but no problems with the find. Weather uncharacteristically gentle today. All good here. TFTC, Biggles.
No wind so able to have time here, ship playing around just off the entry going around and around.. Came in later. TFTC
