Since there are a few DNF's and no chance of checking this in the near future I reckon it might be time to let it go.
Date: 22/06/2014
Time: 13:05
The Adventure:
Well, I had partially driven to this one a couple of months ago, however there were too many muggles parked nearby so I didn't even attempt the search, this time no one was about, although the weather was more pleasant last time. The wind was cold, but I don't mind that.
I had seen the previous DNF's but thought I would give it a try anyway as I was down this way.
The Dark Side however was clouding everything and my searching did not reveal the location of the cache.
So unfortunately I too must log this as a DNF
On the plus side I saw 4 eagles flying over the wet lands, and again it prompted me that I must remember my camera I will return this way again soon, just to see if these birds are about and maybe snap a photo or too.

Thank you for the cache.

I like the trig point, this a lovely spot. Unfortunately we couldn't find the cache today.
Thanks chewinprickles for the hide.

My eleventh find of the day on a (successful) mission to find all the caches over this side of the bay. I decided to walk in to this guy and another cache along the way as I wasn't sure the Geo6E wouldn't lose half its undercarriage and looking at some of the lumps and bumps, it was probably a good decision - besides, I need the exercise.
I followed the path and at one point passed three muggles having lunch near their work ute who seemed surprised with a vehicle track there that anyone would bother to walk . I headed off to GZ which fortunately was some distance from the muggles and made a quick find and signed what is probably one of the older caches around this part of the world.
Rather than run the gauntlet of the muggles again, I took a seaward approach to my return, following the shoreline until I was well clear before heading back to the track which gave me a chance to look at the expansive views which whilst attractive, were completely ship and sailing-vessel free today .
Thanks cherwinprickles for bringing me to this spot I had not seen until now !

Found while out on a days caching with Julie&GG's. I just love the water. Didn't know this place existed. A bit of a bumpy road in but no problems. The cache had broken lid.

Found when caching with The 2 Wanderers - had a nice bumpy ride to GZ and had no troubleo finding the cache. As container lid was broken and water in the container so we repaced the container.
Took 2 wet log books home with us. Saw some black swans on the water today.

TFTC nice spot by the bay GeoJeep had no problems with the roads I even think I heard the ol girl giggling
Tftc really cool rocks nearby, have to come back in the spring when the canola fields across the bay are in full colour
Unfortunately the lid is broken and the contents are suffering water damage and I don't have equipment to fix sorry

The hardest part of this and two other caches in the area was negotiating the roads. The first road in was badly corrugated and the road to the last two caches had many deep holes which took quite some negotiating in our low clearance Ford Focus. Again accurate coordinates and limited hiding locations in the area of GZ led to a quick find although the location of the hide was not consistent with the hint. The contents of the cache container were quite damp but the replacement log book provided by another cacher was in good condition. TFTC chewinprickles.
Having taken the day off I'd planned to grab some caches in the Geelong North area, and was happy to hear that Rebel had also taken half a day off. Meeting at the end of the Eastern Freeway we headed over the Bolte and Westgate to gain access to the rich rewards of an un-visted and un-plundered area. We had a great day of caching with my tally 60 Finds / 2 DNF's. We will be back next week to do it all over again, as I've solved all the puzzles in the Geelong area and it's not time to collect. The roads a bit bumpy, but an easy find. Thanks
Your right. I wouldn't have come here except for a cache.
Interesting place.

Well beam me up Scottie and I wont have to traverse that road on the way out! Had this one on the books for a long time so when the window of opportunity opened we climber right through. Thanks chewinprickles,
A very interesting side of Geelong. Once again geocaching had led us to places we wouldn't otherwise know about
A bumpy road, would not be good in the wet, as may be difficult to judge the depth of some of the ruts. But on a hot day it was easy access, only muggles were a couple of pelicans. Beautiful view of the bay. TFTC
The end of the line for me today. Took some pictures of The fisherman TB and then searched for the cache. The raod was a bit bumpy but dry.

Aftering coming down the fishing area, I decided I had to head around to grab this one, as well as the one just down the road. The road was ok, just a few bumps that could be missed.......might be different after some rain...but all good today.
Arrived at GZ and took a couple of minutes to locate the cache, but all was good, especially when you open your eyes to the surrounds....
Log was signed, cache replaced and I decided to see if I could continue on........
Thanks chewinprickles.....an area I would not have visit other than for this addiction....

Found! Was able to do this cache with a dry bumpy road. It can get quite wet through here at different times. Was a lot of rubbish around which is always extra sad to see near the beach. Cache was a very easy find.

#495 for us, found on a nice warm afternoon.
When my plans were suddenly changed by the requirement to do a pickup of juc_jr#1 from Taylor Swift at Etihad, the chance to join the fun on the Werribee Christmas lights convoy was too good to pass up. After dropping juc_jr#1 at the station, I was seeking to fill in some time before dinner and the Christmas lights, so I decided to grab a few more caches and bring me up so that the lights could be 500.
This one provided a perfect justification for the recent change of juc_mobile to a Subaru Forrester. Although I'm not sure how it would go if the conditions were really wet, the Suby was more than a match in the dry areas and splashed through the deeper puddles with ease. That bit of extra clearance really makes the difference when the potholes get deep.
A nice quick find at GZ an the temporary log is still fine, but the cache needs some TLC and the original log is sodden. It's a shame that some people feel the need to dump their rubbish all over places like this. Why would you bother to drive so far out of town and a km down a bumpy old dirt road, just to dump stuff ?
Thanks for the cache chewinprickles !

I decided to find all the caches in Point Wilson this afternoon.
This was #5 of 6.
Decided that with several large potholes and just such a short distance from Kirk's Point, I would be better off running and cycling in, so no car-bogged-down worries for me.
It's a real pity that some people choose to litter such a natural environment!
A quick find with the clue - saw the very sogged logbook, but fortunately also the new one replaced by the previous kind cachers.
TFTC, chewinprickles - it was my first time out this way.

A nice easy find in a great location on a fine and sunny day. Great views. The drive in here should be by 4wd, especially in the wet. TFTC.
How time goes so quick, I signed this log way back on the 31/12/2006 but back here today with ozbob so popped my name back in just because I could.
Very peaceful here today.

Enjoyable afternoon for KirkyKrew on ten Captain Kirk trek. Was quite surprised to see Bushfire's name down as finding this one with ozbob today. I was sure that Bushfire would have ticked this one off the list a long time ago and flicking back through the logs, I find that he has. Must be doing a lap of honour? TFTC
We have had our eye on this one since we started geocaching. What a lovely smooth ride to GZ...NOT !! The car was rockin and rollin all over the place. Very secluded once we got to GZ. For some reason there was quite a collection of single shoes washed up on the shore. [?][?][?] TFTC chewinprickles !!
Found it on a winters day with the wind and rain coming sideways a quick dash from the car soon had the cache in hand and the log signed thanks chewinprickels for the cache
Tricky drive after rain in a sedan. Wish we'd brought the 4wd. One log book is saturated and unusable. Was a piece of paper in there to sign in tho.
Cool area, the drive to GZ was a bumpy one but well worth it. Saw heaps of birds. Thanks.
Sorry chewinprickles for the generic log but I'm trying to catch up on my logging, I currently have over 1000 to log before hitting some powertrails in the US after the block party next week. As always I enjoy the hunt whether I'm solo or with some of my caching or muggle friends. Thanks to those who have accompanied me to make the day more pleasurable and many thanks chewinprickles for placing this cache.
Out with LouiseAnn and Team TOSH.net fidning some caches after completing the amazing "The Mystery of the Fyansford Treasure Horde". We'd had a brilliant day finding caches, a great lunch and LouiseAnn had got her favourite cider. After a long day we decided to grab this one more cache before heading home. Had a fun drive here, and were able to park right near the cache, and soon had the cache in hand. After signing the log I got some of the veiw. Thanks for the cache, chewinprickles.
After a fantastic couple of hours chasing "The Mystery of the Fyansford Treasure Horde" and a great lunch, Pathfinder24, half of Team TOSH.net and I headed off to find some other caches. This cache was found at 6:33pm
Heading homewards after a long day, we decided to detour to this one and have a look at the view. It wasn't quite what I was hoping for, but it was good to get out of the car. As it was dry, we were able to park within 3m of the cache, but I can imagine on a wet day the road would be impassable.
Thanks for the cache chewinprickles.

The little red car did well to get me from the Mad Max cache on Wilson's Rd to a few metres shy of GZ... the track is in pretty good nick, it's just a matter of taking your time and choosing the easiest line through the rough patches.
T Canada geocoin.
Now to enjoy the drive back in the other direction. The view and the smiley made it more than worthwhile.
Thanks, chewinprickles.

Found this morning.
A bit hard to find amongst all the rubbish including cans, bottles, shoes and fishing bait wrappers.
It's a shame about this as it otherwise appears to be a pretty area.
This area really needs a cleanup. I took some bottles and cans.
Original log still a bit damp.
Signed the temporary log.
Took nothing.
Left smiley badge, & ikea pencil.
Dropped off Canadian Geocoin (picked up from recent trip to Bali)
It wanted to get to Australia & South Pacific.

Not quiet the final frontier, but a great point and due to tech stuff can advise my found while still near it!...nice and great views..tnln,,,
The track to GZ really tested my driving skills after all the recent rain. At one stage I had to hold my breathe for a bit going through one of the potholes, but when I resurfaced, all was good. A nicely tucked away cache here, that took me "To Infinity And Beyond" Oops, wrong movie. Thanks Howard for the challenge on this beaut Winter's day.

Road was quite rough all the way there!
Plenty of Muggles in the area but nothing I couuldln't manage.

Found at 4:25PM on the 6th of Oct by Greg and Bev (Gahpee) and Ray and Maya (Nomads). Easy find, but the cache was very wet inside. Performed an emergency recovery. Dried contents and disposed of one sodden and unreadable scrap of paper pulp (not the old log, which we wrapped up in another plastic bag so it wouldn't saturate the remaining items again). TNLN. Thanks for the cache. Ray and Maya and Greg and Bev.

Found on a cold and wet day out around the area. Cache was completely waterlogged, full to the brim. Emptied, but log book needs replacing urgently. It's beyond drying out. Thanks to chewinprickles for the cache.
Cache is OK but the log book is one mass of pulp. RSF1010+SGGK left a temporary one back in March, which I used.
Found at the start of a day's birdwatching at the Western Treatment Plant. GZ is pretty overgrown with creepers and stuff, but the amount of rubbish tucked into all the hiding places is incredible. Someone else said this would be a great place for Clean Up Australia day - absolutely!
No Orange Bellied Parrots here today, but more Skylarks than you can count, as well as two Frecked Ducks and 55 other species.
No Orange Bellied Parrots here today, but more Skylarks than you can count, as well as two Frecked Ducks and 55 other species.
Decided to walk the last kilometer and a bit, nice walk. However, reality hit us when we were searching the area around GZ: Even though nature is reclaiming the area, it is saddening to see all the rubbish amongst the greens. We did not see the car parts mentioned by Phetlern but everything else and lots of it. Human "culture" at its worst ... an area in need of TLC for the next clean up Australia day!
The cache container was dry but the bag with the log books was wet inside. We left a temporary new log sheet in a dry bag.

Find #3 of 27 on our day in Geelong. Very bumpy drive in across soggy potholes, but got very close, making it a drive-by. We were worried that it may have been missing today, seeing it had been so long since the last find, but we persisted. Discovered a make-shift bong, then an old thong, then finally the cache! Signed log, then returned it to its hidey hole for another few months. Cheers!
Easy find and an interesting location.

I rather enjoy the flat, featureless landscape and long, straight roads around here - combined with the lack of traffic, I find it quite relaxing to drive on these roads. Despite this, I don't think I would have ever managed to make a big enough detour to get this cache unless there was some additional attraction (like an air-show, or something). Fortunately, a couple of nearby caches required leaving the freeway, so I decided to head off down here and get this one too. I enjoyed the drive and was glad it required no complicated navigation as my TomTom was all at sea and thought many of the private, gated tracks were navigable. Anyway, by following the arrow I ended up at the boat ramp at the end of Beach Road and was then able to follow the (pretty rough) track around to Kirk's Point and make an easy find of the cache. I was tempted to continue on afterwards and see if the track lead out any other way - but decided that, if it didn't and I wasted a lot of time, I'd be pretty annoyed so I headed back the way I came.

Thanks chewinprickles for an adventurous cache. The TomTom insisted on trying to take us on dirt roads with locked gates - and we even found an unlocked gate and made good progress until we came up on the wrong side of another locked gate. Finally, we ignored TomTom and made it all the way there. MinnaMouse took it slowly on the road.
It is amazing that this cache hasn't been drowned - it certainly looks like the tide comes right up to it.
Took the TB
In the end, we loved the cache and location.

The road was pretty rough, but we liked to be able to drive right up to the cache like that. Stopped here to eat our lunch -much more pleasant than the Subway restaurant. There was a poor dead pelican on the beach - it didn't smell, so mustn't have been there long. They are very big when you see them close like that. Had a poke around amongst the shells before leaving, lots of sea egg shells in that seaweed. Thanks for showing us this peaceful spot. Left the Thong TB here for a walk along the beach.
Found after a call out for a snake. Went and did after I had released.(not in this area.)TFTC
10:50 All exits are not created equal, all dirt roads are not the same, why can't I learn to trust a multi million dollar sattelite system!!
Well worth the find however, what a nice spot on a sunny day, nice calm waters. Just what i needed!

Found w The Empire. Great day out. Extremely bumpy but still good fun trying to avoid all the pot holes. Part of the world that never knew even existed!
