Another day, more Goo. I've lost count on how many times I've been here, but all I'll say is that this is certainly not the last (however, the caches are not infinite like I originally assumed). Had a couple goals in mind but upon the first two DNFs I said F*** it, and decided to ride up Old Joe because why not. My legs certainly weren't that happy about that choice though. A pleasant 14km bike ride with 584m of elevation gain grabbing 19 caches. About twenty less than previous runs but that's because the number of remaining caches are dwindling. TFTC to all cache owners (which is basically exclusively DSD and ZQX). A lot of puzzles picked up today, so I'll leave a description of both the hide and the puzzle below.THE CACHE:Another trad! That's a change of pace. A nice easy climb up the hill and soon found the cache after expanding out. TFTC sacada!
With a day off and a CITO on in Canberra, I decided on head over to attend it. I of course was the first to arrive [of course] and ate my breakfast of Hungry Jacks with the sea gulls asking for some the whole time. Anyway time to CITO. It was great fun cleaning up and catching up with everyone. Then I was told that everyone was off for a walk in Goorooyarroo to find some caches. So off I went and after about an 11km walk, I ended up with an enjoyable day out, 19 finds and 2 challenge caches to work towards. Those two have been logged as a ‘Write Note’. Some caches found today were **signed as 1/4/23 FIG**. FIG stands for Fools in the Goo. The group consisted of Domsky, Aykayam, Kittykatch, Joolay and myself plus for the first couple of finds, Dty73, TE and Flintstones. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTE and TFTC’s.
Out the the FIG group, they let me find this one on the way past. Now on our way back down the hill, we stopped off to find other caches along the way and this was one of them. Thanks for bringing me here and for adding to the fun of the game. It's always great to find a 2006 cache.

#2197 Being so deep in the Goo, it would have been silly not to grab this one on my return from Old Joe. It wasn’t in the first place I looked but after adjusting slightly I made the find. Thanks sacada for the cache.

The plans for a caching excursion into the nation's capital had been in the pipeline for some time. The main focus was the Capital Paddle series on the Molonglo on Saturday and mopping up some left overs in the Goo with bella at waggy and purplepeopleater.

Out for another Goo expedition with crash2079 and Bella at Waggy with lots of puzzles and high DTs as targets. Made a quick find after finishing the first of the main climbs for the day.

Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.
And in between there are still some traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days
Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to sacada for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

After a caching buddy could not join us for a caching mission in the Goo, TikvaNZ and I decided to head in this morning anyway and grab a few long solved puzzles and trads. We rode our bikes from the main gate to a far gate, did a circle walk and then rode the bikes back to the parking. It was very muddy on the track (and lots of fun) and very squelchy underfoot. I managed to reduce my unfound caches in the Goo / Mulligans Flat by 10, TikvaNZ sadly only by one. A fun morning in the end, with lots of mud and water. followed by pancakes for breakfast!
This cache : quick find. container is broken

This weekend from 17-21/06/2021, I joined georode and gridge98 in visiting our nation's capital, Canberra for geocaching adventures. We prioritised the higher difficulty-terrain combinations, as well as the more special/unique cache types.
On Thursday, I largely spent the day solo and visited Black Hill lookout, the Botanic Gardens, Australian National University and nearby Canberra Central, and then gridge98 and I walked around the front of Parliament area in Parkes.
Friday was spent completing a few hikes in Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve and Kowen Escarpment Nature Reserve, before then meeting locals at a Friday evening dinner event.
Saturday was predominantly the UFO series in Bullen Range Conservation Reserve, targeting the higher terrain ridge area.
On Sunday, we arose to the morning's CITO event, before returning to Goorooyarroo Reserve for more walking around those hills.
Finally on Monday, gridge98 and I headed north to Yass for the Birds of Australia Wherigo series, a few climbing caches, and returning to ACT completing the UGC series.
Today, we had planned and completed two half-day hikes. Our morning was spent at Goorooyarroo Reserve walking 17.3 km the hilly terrain. After lunch, we headed to Kowen Reserve targeting the CBR Wherigo geoart series, and walked a further 8.3 km up and down some further questionable terrain, before the heavens opened up and the rain fell. We finished the day with a pizza and beer at a Watson meet and greet event where we had a chance to see the locals.
We found this geocache whilst walking through Goorooyarroo Reserve, making the find reasonably quickly. The cache container has seen better days, as the container is cracked, and only one snap lock lid is remaining. Thanks sacada for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this kinda oldie 01/2006 hidden cache.

Day 1 of our Geocaching Hiking weekend with Davidwazza and gridge98 in Canberra. The 17.3km / 6 hour loop took us up to a few different hills of the Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve with great caching rewards on the way.

This morning walk around the park we had all of these puzzles solved plus a few trads we found along the way, a great walk and all caches found were in good condition
This weekend I headed to Canberra with Davidwazza and Georode after being asked a month or so ago if I would like to join them for 4 days, planning occurred and a list of 110 targets were chosen consisting of DTs, oldies and special cache types.
Day 1, I arrived in the evening and headed out with David Wazza for a few hours before georodes arrival, we headed to capital hill to find some random caches in the freezing cold.
Day 2, we set off early in the morning for a half day hike around Goorooyarro Park collecting all the puzzles and a few trads in the area, after lunch we had walked 17km for the morning, off we headed to kowen forest for some of the CBR wherigos, half way around it started to pour so called it early and thought doing the drive bys in the series would be a much better idea, in the evening we went to an event and was great to meet a few locals.
Day 3, we set off before the sun had risen for the main target of the day, the UFO series, with so many in the series we focused on the ones along the fire trail and a few in the paddocks, despite being buggered we walked another 18km for the day, in the afternoon we targeted some of our target list in the southern area
Day 4, after a morning CITO we headed back to Goorooyarra Park to complete the remaining caches in the area and finish the L and P plate series, another walk completed over 15km for the trip, in the afternoon we drove around the northern suburbs collecting caches off our target list
Day 5, after dropping georode off at the airport, davidwazza and I headed to Yass for the birds of Australia series and a few of the challenges in the area, after completing the caches we headed back to Canberra past a few caches before attacking the entire UGC series, being tight for time the trip wouldn’t have been complete without going to the Canberra nature park to collect the oldest caches
Total of 356 caches plus a few labs along the way,
Thanks for the caches and their placements

Six months since last found this one is in an amazing spot on the border. Rain on the horizon - maybe, but enjoying the wonderful May weather this weekend. TFTC
Rode out just to collect these three caches in this area today. Finally outside the geocacher-proof fence through a gate I had identified yesterday, kept on going on this side of the wire from Hoover's Heroes, pushing the GeoBike up the hill for the most part. Once at GZ this cache was a straightforward find with amazing views. One more to go... thanks sacada!
Found today out with Noikmeister. Although out on a Puzzle-day, we literally walked over this cache and spotted it. Container is damaged but log remains dry.
Found during a freaking windy day :) Found this cache today with a group of Canberrans :> We signed the logs as Capital Cachers or CC. It was a good day and even though we didn't pickup all of the ones we had previously identified as wanting to get, we did pick up some others so most people were still happy with the find count. Done and done. TFTC.
Freezing, windy and so cold. Glad to reach this spot and getting ready to circle around.

Out caching with a great group of friends. We have a plan to conquer many of the caches in Goorooyarroo . The rain has gone but it is a wicked wind. Thanks for your company Capital Crunchers and thanks to the COs.
On the wrong NSW side of the 2m electrified fence.. Tftc anyway. Tnln. HOTA
We do so love a Challenge cache, and so even before we arrived in Australia we had been looking forward to coming to find the Challenge caches in this area, and so this afternoon we hiked along another section of the Centenary Trail, caching our way towards our main targets. Once we had found the two furthest away Challenge caches (this being one of them) we set off towards the Trig Point with the idea of hiking a geocaching circuit. It would have been a good plan but we were thwarted by a very tall electric ️ fence (the other fences we climbed over), where at one point the only way through to the side we needed to be on was by crawling under the fence via a gated culvert. Due to the electric fence we had to skip a couple of the caches we had hoped to find on the way back down, but at least we did find a way in to access the last of the four Challenge caches of the area. All in all it was a very successful afternoons hike, albeit definitely made harder than expected due to the anti-geocaching fence! After the climb up the hill this one was soon located once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book (where we noticed that this cache hadn't been found since the 25th May 2018!) and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and a favourite point for having bought us to this great viewpoint. Greetings from Zimbabwe
JohnnyBoyACT and I went in search of geocaches in Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve today. The skies were clear and sunny, the wind gentle and the company good, which is just as well for the predator-proof fence currently under construction is starting to resemble a geocacher-proof fence and added some kilometres to the day. In the end, footsore and muscle weary, I had added 34 caches to my tally. This cache was a straightforward find, being within a few metres of the coordinates and close to a gate in the fence. Thank you sacada for installing and maintaining this cache.
Note for subsequent visitors: The gate in the predator-proof fence is at S35 11.211 E149 11.708.

An excellent day's caching led by Kambahkid. 15 the total for me, as I'd done a few before. Agree with his comments about the geocacher-proof fence. I'm trying to obtain a gpx file of the perimeter and gate locations to share. TFTC.
Out for a big hike clearing some of the CCT series in the area and decided to extend my walk to pick up a few out this way, as such my walk became a lot longer

There is a saying about starting the year how you want it to continue - so fresh air and some hard exercise beckoned. After a late night (but without intoxicants) and on a hot day, it did take quite a bit of self-motivation to get moving, but a string of caches I passed as I did the Centenary Trail through Goorooyaroo yesterday beckoned. It was Old Joe time...
Since I wanted to pick up Old Joe's neighbours as well, I took the track suggested in the Old Joe cache's description rather than the hard slog straight up. This proved a good move as it was much easier on slightly worn muscles (and lungs) and brought me to just a short distance from this cache. An easy stroll across the top of the ridge rewarded me with great views and a nice cache. TNLNSL TFTC

We came for the two challenge caches but as this was not that far away we continued up the hill. A good walk and Great views up top in all directions. A quick find and our name was soon in the log. TFTC.
It feels like ages since we’ve done a nice long caching run, so we headed out to Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve to find some of the Canberra Centenary Trail caches. We had to leave The Woofer at home, which is a shame - she would have loved wandering the track with us! We found 38 of 38 in just over 4 hours - even made it to the border of NSW. Not a bad effort! We had a great morning, and left goodies behind wherever possible.
A nice easy find - on to the next one! TFTC!

Up with dty73 collecting a few caches. What a fantastic view! Worth the walk up here just for that, although without the cache know I wouldn't have bothered walking off the main track, so thanks for the cache and getting me up here!
Found with Aquilus1. Was up in the area collecting a mystery nearby, so thought we could pick up a couple while here. This is such a great place to see the planes come in! You are so high and the planes are so low coming into land that you feel like you could almost reach up and touch them. Quick, straight forward find and cache is in good condition. Tftc!!!
Headed up this way to collect an FTF on a puzzle and decided to do some more exploring on a spectacular night. Found the right rock, then signed and enjoyed the view. TFTC sacada
My second day caching in the ACT this long weekend. I down here for a rich caching ground and found myself walking deep within Goorooyarroo and Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve. Surrounded by mobs of kangaroos, swooping magpies, rosellas, and three echidnas! A total of 29km, 64 finds and 3 DNFs. Unfortunately I also found out the hard way that winter is over and the UV rays are burning again.
Hopefully I will be back someday to continue on the caching trail.
Thanks for all the caches.

Some time to myself before switching jobs so I decided to use the nicer days to get out and grab some caches. Todays target was a bike ride around Mulligans Flat to collect some more CCT and other random caches.
Headed over to this one after descending from Old Joe and the local farmer of the property to the East was parked up near GZ. Awaited for him to move on before collecting the cache, signing it and replacing it.

Over 10 years and less than 100 finds on this traditional, interesting that Old Joe seems to have more finds even though in my opinion it is a lot longer walk, higher up and hasn't even been there as long!
We pushed our bikes most of the way up the hill and walked the last 100m. A good find, the new log and new container have held up perfectly!
Thanks sacada!

Sunday 20 September 2015 - a glorious Spring day with a brilliant blue sky at 18 degrees between 10am and 2pm. Found 24 caches in 4 hours over 11.46 kms by bike riding, bush bashing, running and pushing a bike up steep hills over rocks and more rocks. Saw 3 Shingleback lizards, 2 Echindas, plenty of Roos, Humans on foot and on bikes. Great day thx Siri, P and T. Dropped off 2 trackables and picked up a Buddha trackable in some of the caches found today. TFTC.
Did a long walk today (didn't have a bike with me) to do some caches in this reserve. Being from far out of area I didn't know what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the area and the caches!

On my way past so did some maintenance. In fact replaced the entire cache. The old one was nearly 10 years old and had a few holes, though the log and contents were dry.
While I was here I saw "Franklin". He didn't let me approach but seemed to be happy and healthy.

Awesome views from here ona lovely Canberra winters day.
Enjoyed the hike in Mulligans flat today and needed to grab a couple of the caches that were off the beaten track.
The container has some cracks in it and is extremely brittle.
Log book is ok, but zip bag is split.

I'd been eyeing up these hills for a while now, and this morning was the perfect opportunity; clear skies and no wind. My mission was to cycle this stretch of the centennial trail and find a few caches along the way. This wasn't initially on the radar, but I ended up at the top of the peak to the south. An easy fun ride down from there to here. Cache quickly found. (Everything was dry, but the cache does have holes and cracks, and could do with being replaced). A nice ride down from here back to the centennial trail. TFTC.

Dropped in on this one as I was passing and saw it had a TB in it. Thought I'd pick it up and move it on.
However TB not here. And container itself has become brittle and has a hole in it. Covered from weather as best I could but it will not keep out the rain or the dew.

This was the second find of the day on a tour of unfound caches in Goorooyaroo. It was a pleasant stroll down from Old Joe and the cache was an easy find. It doesn't look like many people come out this way much. tftc.
Saw an echidna on my way to the cache. It saw me first however & wasn't keen to chat.

Found on a cold and frosty morning out in Gungahlin. After getting the other Lord of the Rings caches nearby, we walked a few more kilometres to this one. This was our main goal for the day, as it was the furthest cache we had to get. It was well worth it in the end. Another lovely walk along the paths to GZ, as we were approaching the sun came out more and it got much warmer. There were actually a few riders and walkers here today, so it wasn't all peace and quiet. Lovely views as we approached GZ. Once at GZ, it was a very quick find. An even better view here of everything. The city, NSW and even the path up to Old Joe. While we were here, we also took a photo of the nearby trigpoint. The container is cracked, however it is not wet so for the meantime, it shouldn't be a problem. TNLNSL. TFTC sacada!
Glorious day for a bush walk, we had driven past long enough. Today we decided to head out to tackle these on a 9.4km round trip bush walk through this area.
This was next on our list to collect today, what a magnificent view, well worth the walk, and we found the cache as well.
TFTC and for bringing us to the beautiful area.

#687 - 17:00; The seventh of ten caches for the afternoon on a border walk to clear up a few of the remaining traditional caches I have yet to log in the ACT between the Federal and Barton Highways. This one continued the category three climb in the Alps as I made my way from 'Slightly off the beaten track' (GC2KZYM) on a bit of a back track from my expected path. Great views just as the sun was setting and worth a favourite for that. TFTC and bringing me up here sacada .
A nice cold (but dry) walk in the heights of the Goorooyarro nature reserve with Tripperoutthere.
Did this a little out of order, so had to head back up hill again. Found quickly. Container a little sun affected, but still water tight. Now down hill again!

Found this one during an 21km MTB ride and hike geomission through the reserves. Made the trek up the side of the hill on foot whilst I was pushing the MTB along to conserve energy, and thinking how awesome it was going to be wizzing along downhill all the way after I found the cache Found it easy peasy whilst I admired the spectacular views! Took geo slug to move on. Thanks for the views and the cache, sacada
Nice warm day for a stroll to pick up a couple on this side of the grasslands. Nice location, agree with the description - I can see many smileys and yet to be smileys from here!

544. This was one of the finds out of 52 that I found with Cankid today. We went on about a 40 km bike ride around the Mulligans flat area, and most of the containers we found were quite abnormal.
A nice long bike ride to the cache, worth it for the cache. Quick find once at GZ.
Thanks for the cache, sacada

Was smashing around the area on the mountain bike and just happened to turn on the geocaching app on the iphone.
What do you know 63 meters to a cache.
The only one I got today but I passed many I haven't found.
Will slow down and pick the rest up next time.
Thanks for the cache.

A quick find in the only spot it could be. Not easy to hide a cache here, then off the the impressive trig. I haven't seen one of these in such good condition. Perhaps because it is so far away people who make it all the way out here resist the urge to climb on it. I found a bit of metal back near the cache that I suspect was part of the missing top.
Out with CT on a 20km day through Goorooyaroo. 16 caches and 2 trigs.
Thanks sacada

As far as we where going on this cache walk a couple more to do on the way back to the geomobile
It's always a bit special to come to the border on foot. The view through to Mulligan's Flat and back over to the East is so great - everyone should come up here! The cache was litte exposed but Zita did a good job of hiding it again - and dispatching a red back that had set up house in the same spot. The inside of the container was a bit damp so we dropped in a silica pack to dry it out. NLNSL TFTC
Good spot was on a caching day an found it nice and quick the hint gave it away though

A simple cache find on my way around Goorooyaroo. As with many of the cahces around here, the effort of the climb came with the reward of the view.
Found on a ride to drop off some new caches. This could be a great location for dawn/late afternoon photography...
A perfect day for strolling in this marvellous country.
After reading the logs I took the liberty of installing a new cache container & log book.
Just great. ta.
Good find, TFTC! The logbook was quite wet when I got there, maybe a new ziploc bag is in order...
Continued on from Old Joe. Was amused to see a couple of utes parked at a shed fairly close to GZ. Cache container is now in a bit of a sad state and the log is wet and mouldy. Got back to the car exactly 2 hrs from when I arrived. Very pleasant morning indeed. TFTH
Started a Views Forever! and then did the trek straight up to Old Joe enjoyed the less steep track down hill to this one. Had only a few seconds to sign the log before high tailing it back to the car as we had visitors coming. Made it back in 45 minutes. It certainly took us a lot longer to get there - go prepared.
