Loved this spot! It's a pity about all the rubbish lying around. Couldn't find the cache where the GPS was pointing or in the area around it. Felt a little uneasy here by my self so will come back for another look with company. Thanks for bringing me here anyway- I'll be back.
We were out and about grabbing a few caches in the area today.
The homeless people mentioned in the previous logs were around today, but we weren't able to locate the cache. We were also accompanied by a cacher who has previously found this container, but he wasn't able to spot it either.

A quick find, hint says it all, a shaddy place with excellent views. Left a yogg voucher, took a banana toy. TFTC!
Easy find! Need to watch out for homeless people loitering around the lookout point. TFTC!
Got it tonight after pizza with the family nearby. Thanks... This was our 400th find.

sadly a DNF for myself and Move Star today. We checked where the hint said but nothing and didn't want to hang around too long as there was a dodgy looking character at one of the bunkers with all his belongings [?] will return another day and hopefully he will be out
We couldnt find it even after the log from someone else, that the hint may be missleading we looked for it everywhere but no sign of a bag, just a lot of rubbish. But nice view anyway!
Quick find on the way down to the start of Fort Bastion http://coord.info/GC1K1QF Hint abit misleading but cache still found quickly. TFTC!
Spent a little bit looking for this one not knowing that we were looking at it the whole time with is great camo. TFTC XenaCommander
Made a most Pleasent view and walk at lunchtime, hard to gather that there is so much traffic just below us
TFTC
TFTC
The hint was a bit misleading because the cache was not there but moved a bit up the hill. Eventually we found it because we simply did not want to give up on the last cache of the day.
Thanks!
Thanks!
3/4/13, Find #4498
Very windy up here, and a wonderful view! A couple was sitting in one of the old war bunkers or watch posts or whatever they are. The cache was in fine shape, and the TB is still there.

Goldielover and I love the views from up here. Such a great place for the cache, which was in great condition.

Found with stairman1. What a fantastic place. The views over the bay were spectacular. The cache is in good order. We dropped in a bug we had picked up from an event in Australia to continue its way. This one gets a favourite from me. TFTC
After completing AMJC Sunset Boulevard decided to leave the car in its spot and do a bit of walking. A stunner of a day, managed to avoid a couple of muggles motorbiking around the reserve, followed the track close to the Marae and had a wee gander at their vege patch..
Finally got to the memorial and of course I had to have a look through the iron bars at the tomb and after walking through the lovely scented rose gardens found GZ.
I knew there were old gun emplacements around but cant ever recall being to these ones.
Cache in hand very quickly and after a quick photo session was on my merry way

Out and about knocking off more stages of the "All Around Auckland - Minor, Major, Monument" and thought we would pick up a few others along the way.
Great historic location. Thank you to XenaCommander for introducing us to this great part of Auckland.

Left the hordes at the Waitangi Day Festival between 1814 and Katchafire, to check out the Savage Memorial, the searchlight emplacements, and this cache. Grass very dry and a bit thin, so tucked it in a bit deeper so it's camoflage can work a bit better. Thanks for the cache. Nice cache placement to ensure people get to visit the searchlight emplacements.
A fun little cache after my eldest's birthday trip to Kelly Tarlton. Didn't even know you could get down here. TFTC
Clever hiding spot. Dropped off Geocoin that wasn't logged in its previous cache inventory. T4TC

Beautiful spot with a wealth of history. It's been many years since I've been up here. Would never have spotted the bunkers without this cache being here! TFTC
Beautiful location and nifty camo taking the travel bug down south to Tongariro - Azotame y Ceilyn
Saw this one on the gps as 50m away, but we were on the road below!! So walked around the bend and climed up the steep grass hill!! The contiki bus drove past and they must have thought we were nuts! Easy find no muggles! Dropped off TB.
Cool camo bag... Great views, easy find with the hint! Toy Soldier left behind!
Great views from up here. A nice camo coat for the cache. Just started to rain as I was completing the log so thats it for me today. Off to the gym, then home. TFTC.
Saw some young lovers hanging about under a tree, so when approaching, exclaimed how great a view there was, pretended to be taking the others round to there.
They started climbing up a view point, when I realised the cache would be further down, so started yelling to them how much better the view was from down the bottom, and how everyone should come look down at that view, as it was awesome. Hahaha...
Well, we were then out of view so the cache was super easily found with the hint.
And the muggles were gone by the time we were leaving.
TFTC!!

14:50 S did the deed while I played photographer & gunnery expert (a little knowledge is dangerous haha). Magnificent day. Thanks XC. Long time since I've found one of yours. Watched a baby helicopter learning to fly & got ripped off by the iScream man with a GSOH (not) but it took us all back to being kids again. Most excellent company... Cheers, GC.
A nice view from the cache location. It was a bit of a mission to get to the cache as there were some youngsters hanging around the top. I just sit and enjoyed the view while my hand was looking in the grass next to my backpack.
Even though this spot is a bit remote off the main memorial, it was very busy. A group of teenagers had situated themselves arround the shelters, so logging was a bit more tricky than expected.
Nice views from here...

I was in the area doing a multi cache and thought that I would get this cache while here. I was very glad I did because I would never had found this little area if I hadn't been geocaching. Lovely view, TFTC. Took GC, left Lord of the Caches geocoin.

A bit of diversion was needed here as some local lads were hanging out nearby. Great view. Tftc.
Nice view. The hint tells you exactly where it is. If you remember it correct. Locked at the wrong place for a while but then it was easy
Interesting walk into this one once having figured out whether it was 'upstairs' or 'downstairs' . Neat view from up here. Found quickly. tftc
Steed complained about getting wet shoes, and then we had to wait for the canoodling couple to leave the area before we went in. Don't read the clue unless you want to be told exactly where it is. It was a bit damp (we have had lots of rain recently), so we added a silica bag and Ali Baba (or some Arabian Disney character) TFTC
A small detour to grab this cahce while passing through Auckland on this sunny afternoon

I had to sneak this one while a rather unconventional couple amused themselves around the corner, out of sight but within earshot. This is a great place to watch the sailboat races out on the harbour. The 420s were screaming across the water today.
Found it on our NZ holiday, nice easy find with a great view, shame about the huge number of cans and rubbish left in the bunkers. Tftc
Easy find after I had manipulated the bicycle around people and a short track. Nice tidy, clean cache and superb views on Queen's Birthday holiday. Enough littered cans and bottles in the shelter to fill a few rubbish sacks.
This was a quick easy find while out on a caching expedition with Defiant980. However Defiant980 had already found this one before and I'm sure I detected a wry smile on his face as I started my search without giving any "cold", "warm", "hot" clues. Anyway TFTC.
I have to admit I haven't been up to the memorial site for many years, and I had forgotten what spectacular views of the harbour you get from up there. Found the cache easily enough and it is still in good nick. TFTC
Enjoyed strolling to GZ with ice cream in hand, although busy around here, we managed to find it and replace without detection. Cache in pristine condition. Gorgeous views today on a spectacular Autumn day. Left our pathtag. SL. TFTC.
Had come to Auckland to see the Dega to Dali exhibition - loved it. Today before going home we fitted in some scenic sights - these gardens are just beautiful!! What a wonderful monument to an inspiring person - we have much to thank him for. Thanks for bringing us here - the views are wonderful too. Can't believe the tourist busload that arrived and started taking photos of themselves and silly poses with view as background - but only sometimes - and hardly any of them went in to admire he gardens!! Tftc
In Mission Bay today for the triathlon this morning. Hung around the area for the day and this cache brought us up the hill. Glad we made the effort - beaut view of Rangitoto one way and Auckland CBD the other. Plenty of foreign tourists around - we don't get coachloads like that in the Tron!
Wandered away from the memorial, and the crowds, towards the cache. Scott and Master 2 stayed on the grass while Master 6 and I headed off past the gun emplacements. Sad to see so much evidence of the 'local miscreants' inside them - and just too much rubbish for me to CITO on my own. Broken glass is a bit off-putting when I'm with the littlies too.
Still, the cache find was straightforward (by Master 6, of course!) and we really appreciated the view from the memorial - wouldn't have come up here if not for this cache, so thankyou XC for bringing us here.
Cache number 164 for us

After having been to this beautiful park several times but never having done any cache hunting I decided it was time today after work to have a walk in this park. This cache was my first stop and amazingly it was about five meters from where I had been with my mom when we were looking at these gun emplacements. Great piece of history here. TFTC!
Had to dodge the tour buses, but other wise nice to come back here to play with the big guns.
In Auckland for 2 days on Royal Caribbean Cruise from Sydney to Hawaii. On our 2nd day in Auckland, about a dozen of us Geocachers along with other cruise friends took a city tour and luckily there was time to search out a few caches at the local tour bus stops. Obviously a beautiful location for your cache and even a big enough container for me to drop off a key ring from San Diego, California. Thanks for a 'big' cache find. From the 6 California cachers (Gary&Vicky, Jim&Jackie and Mac&Sharon) and others from the US.
Howdy from California,
We, and a bunch of other like-minded knuckleheads, are in Auckland before we hop on a cruise ship and sail to Hawaii by way of Australia, Papeete, Moorea, and Bora Bora. Geocaching is a great way to see the sites. Great to be caching... as they say in the States..."Down Under". Favorite point worthy.

This was our second day in New Zealand and we had a half day tour. About a dozen of us Geocachers and other cruise friends took a city tour and luckily there was time to search out a few caches at the local tour bus stops. Great view from here.
My second attempt at this cache after a very long time. I think it must have been in a different place when I last searched as the final location and hint were not so familiar. Anyway, great to visit again and this time with a quick and successful search. TFTC, Biggles.
Thanks for bringing me to this great location with stunning views. The cache was a quick find as it was quite exposed - I have placed it back under a bit more cover. A bit of trash around the area but unfortunatly I was not set up to deal with it.

Very interesting spot. Dropped off the welsh dragon trackable which was meant to be left in Singapore but we had no internet access before we left for the fight here so was unable to leave it nearer to its cousins, which it wants to visit, in China. Please help it on its way. TFTC leano England
Nice day. The best for hunting some cache T4TC and Greatings from Czech republic
Got home from Coromandel today and received phone call from Robert to who wanted to make up for making me miss last weeks event here. Parking was a problem today so we parked a bit further down and enjoyed the walk from the beach to this hill. Interesting enough there was no muggles at this high point. Spent some time in the sun as he needed to get some tan and admired the awesome views from here. Decided to get fish and chips for a feed on the way back to the car.

Had heard about Bastion Point before but never visited, never realised that a former PM's tomb was there, very interesting location.
Thanks for the cache.

Very windy on the day. Didn't know this place existed! Just started geocaching so took us a bit of searching to find but found it eventually. TFTC
I had no idea this whole area existed, thanks for bringing me up this way! Weather was lousy so could barely see the water let alone the view, I'd imagine on a nice day the view is amazing. Will definitely come back here when sun is shining. TFTC, a favorite for me.
De eerste stop tijdens onze hop on hop off trip door Auckland. deze snel gevonden en gelogd. Verder niets meer gevonden deze dag, maar de serie van de vakantie is heel gebleven.
Liebe Cachebesitzerin, lieber Cachebesitzer!

A tricky retrieve due to the bunch of teenagers getting drunk close by! Had to pretend to tie my laces!!!! TFTC
Took a little while to find the track with an unreliable gps and a desire to not avoid the attention of nearby clearly drunk teenagers. Once we found the spot an easy find though, TFTC!
Attended a wedding about 100 meters from this spot on 11/11/2011 at 11 minutes past 11. Just had to arrive early to claim the cache on a beautiful day overlooking the harbour. Interesting surroundings to explore. Thanks for bringing me to this spot.
Find #798. Our 7th find on our bike ride from Saint Heliers to the harbour bridge along the waterfront. As we rode around Bastion point, we decided it was too important to miss a cache up there, so we crossed the road, locked the bikes up to a chair, and scrambled up the hillside.
It wasn't long before we found access to GZ, and we simply wandered along and picked up the cache. We really do like the camo bags & logbooks, XenaCommander! Everything is clean as a whistle. There weren't many views today, as it was rather overcast, but the lookout provided a nice shelter from the easterly breeze.
Definitely an interesting spot that deserves a cache. One for the favorites. SL TFTC.
