It took no time at all for my young daughter to find this one, and a little longer for us to figure out how to open it. The logbook was wrapped in 3 layers of plastic but despite that was a bit damp. We made sure to wrap everything back up and put the container back in place. TFTC!
Another "rest"stop ****on the uphill walk to search for another cache was welcomed. It was a bit awkward for me to get my hands on this cache but I was great to see a good sized container. Certainly not a fruitless experience for me.
Out for an Easter walk, and always good to find an ammo tin cache that has been keeping watch for years. A nice quick find before we continued on up the hill towards lunch. TFTC
Nice easy one after the last two that required detours. No problem finding the cache. The logbook has seen better days but is still functional. Grabbed the TB.
Thanks for the cache, GSVNoFixedAbode

I dropped a TB off here on my way down the hill. Could hardly open the ammo can - had to grasp both handles and pull mightily. The logbook is still usable; thanks to those who have looked after it.
Luvly to find an old ammo can up on a hill that isn't an ambitious park and grab. The munitions box is showing it's age and whilst the No.#1 packed the swag away in a familiar PVC baggy the CO likes so much, I removed the rusty mouldy bits the whiners have been complaining about and taped the handle ends off. The stiff clasp requires more experience to open and left clamped closed back in place. The old logbook had a good read through before it was stamped and signed. A noice place to sit down and people watch as they trudged up the hill. Thankyou for leaving this tin here so many years ago GSV. A most deserving cache. *Labyrinth **15pt** trad **465pt***.
That is a classic hide in a wonderful place, great to see it is still going
Cheers and thanks,

Judging by the well formed wide track I'd say that these days this is actually the most popular route for it.
And this cache finally provided an answer on why the track is called "Pineapple Track". Yeesh, I wonder how many remains of rusty tins are around this track somewhere.
Talking about rusty, this is the rustiest ammo box I've ever found. Have to be careful not to cut your habds on the handle at the top. It is probably time to replace the container as well as the contents...
Kia ora! Paldies!

Afternoon walk on the Pineapple Track. We started at Tanner Road end and went all the way to Flagstaff-Whare Flat Road then my muggle friend said lets go back again!!! So we did and I found this along the way. TFTC
My second ammo can find in New Zealand. These are oh so popular in the U.S. I’d love to see more here in NZ.
Me, CJCurry and Hevic climbed up Flagstaff today and it was rough. And was also Ramble #2 for the Rambler's Reward!
We left CJ to grab this one. Tftc!

A trip up the Pineapple track over Flagstaff has been on the cards for a while now, so Hevic, safetykat, and I made our way up and over today. The others did indeed leave me to this one, tree caches (up or down) seem to be my specialty. It didn't take me long to spot this one either, and I was very appreciative of the type of container. I hesitate to say that more of these containers should be out there as I'm currently holding onto one I obtained in 2015...! Cheers!
Found this one (again) - had been 11 years since the last visit. Log book is a bit damp. Tftc
A quick find late this morning on my way back down from finding some puzzle cache finals further up. The latch on the container is broken but the contents are still dry and in good condition. Signed log, TFTC
On the way back down the hill after coming up the Davies track with Ruby to do GC6X288 and grabbing a couple more caches. Quick find here once I looked from the correct angle.
SL. Thanks for the hide GSVNoFixedAbode

Spectacular views as Mr. Rex sheltered himself from the bitter winds as he signed the log. Great container, too...TFTC!
Took a bit of oomph to open this thing when I found it. Last cache of the day. Thanks
It took me a while to find this cache.
I had difficulty to open the container so I attached a picture of it as a proof that I found it

Great day for walking with daughter! Happy to find, had trouble working out how to open container
Found it with the afternoon group of high school students on a PE excursion doing a "Geocaching" activity.
It was a great introduction to Geocaching for 24x 15 & 16 year olds. TFTC

Good day for walking up the hill, found after a little game of hide and seek, and we found it! The lid was not fully closed, but nothing wet. Needs a new plastic bag, as the one in the cache has a hole in it.
Thanks for placing this here.

still a bit of hail lying around after the storm earlier in the week. You need to give a bit of a yank to open the container.
Awesome! Took me a long time to get the container open however!!! Cool we hiding spot though TFTC!

Found this one during a day nice winter's afternoon Geocaching on and around the Pineapple Track. TFTC!
From the Pineapple point of view, definitely fruitless! Otherwise beautiful day and great views.
First searched around the wrong tree but gut there in the end TFTC Wonderful day for a walk up the hill.
The junior dakotacat's class were out walking the Pineapple Track today so of course I was happy to come along for parent help. During one of the breaks, the junior dakotacat and her friend managed to slip away unseen and find this cache. Thanks for the cache GSVNFA.
A great day for a trip up the hill! I can't believe they are calling for snow tomorrow! Thanks for the fun cache - all in good shape.
Dog needed a walk and I needed a cache so this one was great for us both. Thanks.
Found during fozzmiester's South Island adventure. Great fun was had with clever hides and stunning locations encountered along the way. Many thanks to the owners of all the caches found and the enjoyment which you provided.
A quick find but unfortunately I stepped in something very unpleasant while retrieving the cache. TFTC

The Jo half of the team had a conference all day so Joe went for a walk finding a few caches on the way. Through the botanic gardens, back to check out the University bookshop, then off over Flagstaff. This was number 13 for the day.
My trusy garmin batteries were running dry but gave a last gasp to find this one for us. TFTC
Got directed to the correct tree by PC Sniff's Garmin, but he was busy bemoaning the death of his batteries while I crawled under the branches to retrieve this one. Thanks for the cache.
No one else about on the track this afternoon which made for a leisurely find and sign of the log. Found with debsnz
I always like seeing ammo cans used for cache containers. Somehow just feels right. There are some lovely views of the city and surround from the GZ.

Luckily my search wasn't fruitless and the cache was an easy find. The geohounds enjoyed it too. Done as part of the Rambler's reward challenge. TFTC

Cacher track unavoidable I think at this time of year. Glad to get an easy find near the end of my walk. TFTC
Second for day, great day, nice to feel the sun again, new boots feeling good, wonder how many cache these will find, easy find just of track TFTC. #17
I walked in from the Bull Ring carpark to here before retracing my steps back up the hill. Seems I’m only finder over the Mega Weekend. More than just a little surprised at that. The walk back, while a bit steep, was well graded, and a good work out after of a steady diet of drivebys and urban caches over the last few days. TNLN SL TFTC
Came as far here along Pineapple. Miss-understood the comment about being off trail so when Pineapple turned away with 90m to go I dove off into the bush, scared the bejesus out of a walker when I reappeared close to the track and cache GZ.
An easy enough find on a day where Dunedin has lost sight of summer- temporarily I hope HOTA
Was a quick find on a good day out..
Had a rest on the grass after the long walk.

On the descent from Flagstaff with Adventure Tharon. Nice container, Papa's getting to like these ammo tins. Salamat!
After work cycle and walk combo for a pick up of this one not really dressed for going up much further as a nasty Southerly was blowing. Still more than enough exercise with the walk down and cycle to come.
Nice trad container. Left a small blue carabiner, TN.
TFTC
Also logging this towards Rambler's reward.

After allot of looking with vaderstead then finally found it!

Walked straight to it! Good to see the ammo cans too. Introduced a muggle friend of mine to geocaching with it - she was very intrigued by it, especially due to her being in the army!
Cheers,

A little heavy for little miss us04 to pull out, but she managed. Lovely spot for a picnic. TFTC
Dropped off Aushiker TB, which wants to visit caches on tracks, and the BSA Scouting geocoin.
A quick stroll up the hill with limited time, should've trusted the GPS more as I spent a few wasted minutes searching in the wrong spot almost 40 m away! Another turn in the track and the cache was soon in hand. Not too many muggles out on such a wet miserable day, just 120 or so keen soldiers running the Flagstaff/Swampy Summit/Motorway circuit!
