Time to do a bit of house keeping...

1145. I couldnt resist an extended walk after completing a near by puzzle. I made my way down to GZ and after about 10 minutes of searching I found the treasure. Upon opening the container and finding a very wet log, heaps of mud and a resident worm, like a mongrel dog, I picked the whole lot up to take back to the CO. I will give the log some TLC (so hopefully I can sign it) and hopefully hand it to the owner at the next event.
Thanks TE for another adventure with heaps of flora and fauna and I hope I have saved you a little time.

Hmmm - looks like cache is in a bad way! Anyways, it has now been collected for maintenance! (Thanks Boot65).
I will consider its future shortly!

Did this along the All the Rivers Run challenge attempt. We nearly didn't go down there since the wind came with 40km/h from a roughly north west direction and you had us worried. I am glad we did anyhow though. nice walk nice spot. Welcome break of the bike ride against the wind. TFTC. Content is wet given the broken box I signed anyhow. (sorry I should have been a bit better organized planing this and taking some new gear along) Saved a little mouse from drawing.

Container has cracked and leaked water. We drained the water but the Log is saturated.

Headed to this one via the Kama Reserve walk. Nice hide and walk, though the cache container is cracked and contents saturated. Headed on to ARR#2 along the river bank from here. TFTC

PUDDLE GANG, Escape the ratrace and I did this one as a divert from the all the rivers run challenge. was a nice quick find and a good quick rest before completing our "quest"

Did this one with Escapetheratrace and Puk Ed along our way to completion of the All the Rivers run challenge.

We had to search for a bit and eventually came up trumps about 10m from the co-ordinates. We just had to use a bit of zen geocaching and decide on where we would have put it.

At this time of day, the water was reflecting the surroundings back like a mirror and I was quite taken back. I called Puk Ed over to look who promptly through a rock into the water and spoiled everything. He laughed and I said some choice words back. Smile

Thanks TankEngine, another great cache out in nature.

2865. Well it's been a long time coming but I finally made it out here while on the rivers run. A big thank you to Sol de Lune who accompanied me down while the others conserved their energy. Amazing how level the trail is but much longer than a crow flying. Duties done and it was time to rejoin the posse on our challenge quest.

TFTC and the zig zag.

Armed with a couple of ammo boxes I headed out from Stockdill Drive Treatment Plant for a longish walk in 30C+ heat. A nice meandering walk along the hills before dropping down to the river itself. Cache found in good order and I rescued the Rubiks Cube TB and left a pathtag in its place. I had forgotten what a nice area this part of Canberra is. All up about a 7km walk with a few diversions. Thanks for the cache Tank Engine.

Finally getting around to logging this one. A bit of a gap as I found it back in early December.

I walked down from Karma up on the hill. Not sure If I crossed any private property on the way but I was never challenged. Except by a million grass seed. Still picking them out.

The timing of my visit was perfect. All the animals were out. Mum and baby wedge tail eagles were in the nest doing flapping practice... A big! red belly black snake was sunning its self on a rock near water near by and a I even spotted a dear up in the hill, climbing up a cliff!!! Lots of wild life around...

Cool. See the photos.

Thanks for taking me down along the river to this great little spot.

After three attempts at this cache I finally managed to make the distance and record a find with Sara and Joan. First attempt - started walking with the geohubby and geohounds at 6 pm at night. Soon realised the windy track from Coppin's Crossing meant we had left our start a little late. Second attempt - took the new mountain bikes out for a spin with the hopes of getting the cache. A fast trip out and back, but we weren't in a position to leave the track and head to the waters edge to get the cache. This time it was all in order. The hike took a while but we powered through. Dogs enjoyed a swim at GZ and I got to drop of one of the TB's I have been holding for some time. TFTC. It is going to be horribly disappointing when they develop this area.

Surprised how hot is was by 8am.
Joan and I sacrificed our sleep in to meet up with Ratpackleavings for this cache and it was well worth it.
Enjoyed the walk and retrieval. Our "geocaching laser" eyes (according to my 8 yr old) spotted the GZ from a few meters away. It had that "there is a cache here" look about it.

Finally got to this one, I've been meaning to do this ones for years but never got around to it before now, the new cache nearby 'Karma' was only a couple of K's from here so I made my way down from it through the long snakey grass and made the find, the last 20 meters were the most treacherous as I nearly took a tumble on the rocks and didn't fancy hobbling out again by myself. All good though the cache is in good condition and I got a GZ right on top of it, that was a bout the third GZ in the area though, the signal kept moving.
Stopped by the water trough in a nearby paddock for a good wet down as it was fairly hot out today, I wouldn't advise drinking it but it was wonderfully cold. I was dry again by the time I got back to the car. Clambered back out from the GZ and huffed and puffed back up through Karma again back to the beast for some well earned rest and recuperation.

Was bored today and thought what to do, got geograndma (mum) to drive me to coppins crossing, was to far for her to walk all that way, but she was willing to wait until I got the cache.
Started walking past the two wrecked cars and the little huts past the pipes
Got to 250 meters away and saw there is a fence where I had to go. Yes roos jump over fences dont they? Well this one had to.
Made my way down to gz and searched for about 30 minutes until I worked it was about 5 meters out, not that far. 4pm now had to hop to it. Past a number of my cousins back to the car. Big fun walk TFTC Took TB

Brrrrrr, not as cold as yesterday but still quite a few rain squalls. Walked in from Coppins Crossing, what are those beaten up cars doing in the fenced area with the little huts ? More huts along the way. When I slithered down to the River's edge, it still took me about 30 minutes of searching. You could hear my screams of joys for miles on the cache's discovery - GPS said it should be 15m away. Lovely stretch of River, dropped Platypus TB and got soaked returning to car.

BTW, those towers stink whatever direction the wind is blowing.

600 - Yep Number 600 !!

I wanted to do a memorable cache for my 600th - and not up a hill after yesterdays effort ! And so I convinced Sol that this was the way to go - of course we didn't have our bikes with us so we walked all the way in from Coppins Crossing - quite a meander for sure !!

It was a nice and easy walk in - only a few small ups and downs - until the last bit when we approached the GZ. Had an anxious wait while the GPS settled down and after about 15-20 minutes had the cache in hand.

And then the long long walk back to the cars. All up it took 2.5 hours on a very nice afternoon... at least we had plenty to talk about by planning a future road run!

TNLN - TFTC !! Very Enjoyable !!

Cheers....

Found with AusCan on nice Friday afternoon.

And we walked in. Just over 4k's on the GPS, and with all the twists and turns on the road, probably closer to 6, each way.

Just over an hour to get there, another 15 minutes to find the cache, and then the walk back. Seemed like a long way but the time seemed to go quickly as well.

Another area of Canberra that I would not of ventured to if not for caching.

TNLN and Thanks Tankengine for the hunt.

Cheers,

Found this one with FarmerFrentzen today. The ride out here was quite flat except for when we has to cross a bridge. The hard part was due to the rain today the track was very sloppy and at times it was like riding through sand at times. We dumped the bikes in the drain above the road and headed down to the GZ. We searched for ages. The rain made all the rocks slippery and both GPS's were not great at GZ but after about 30 minutes of searching we found the cache. Then the ride back out.

Thanks Tankengine for the great cache, I have been eyeing this one for a while now.

Rode into the GZ with Big Matt. The wet weather made riding along the decomposed granite roadway seem like riding through sand. With the added rolling resistance it was a bit of a slog but we made it in the end. We spent some time trying to find the cache container as the accuracy of both GPS units diminished once down near river level. Eventually it was spied by Big Matt and the log signed. We had a quick bite to eat then headed on back to the road for the ride out with the rain chasing us all the way. TNLN & TFTC.

2:30pm Enjoyed the ride down here - visually beautiful, fragrance eau de "kenny" toilette was strong but wind helped.

A beautiful spot by the river.

Picked up the Australian Geocacher Omnibus TB

Thanks Tankengine - magic.

Another cache I have been putting off for ages. I really enjoyed riding, both ways were good. I got a bit sick of the gates, but I suppose that is not much to complain about. Very peaceful at GZ. Thanks.

We have been planning to do this one for a little while, and this afternoon offered the opportunity with geokids engaged elsewhere. Late storms brought a little bit of rain as we rode in, but not much. GZ is a very nice spot. We left a coin, and the ammo box that is the Australian Geocacher Omnibus, stashed in rocks about 2m from TE's cache. A nice ride, thanks Tankengine.

Nice morning ride along what would have to be one of the flattest off road caches you could ride to in Canberra. Made very good time and soon reached the cache and completed the required formalities before commencing the return leg taking in some of the scenic and man made views.

Way to go SS!! Congratulations on getting out there (MBO style). Look out Canberra Chess!! CT

I dont know what track Zsazsa7 went on, but that was definately not a flat track from the north. Up and down the valley, lots of beautiful scenery along the river. Nice walk with geodad, took 2 hours to get there but only 1 hour back where we went closer to the fence. Got there at 12pm, and amazed that someone had been there less than 3 hours before! took geocoin, left toy car. Thanks for another awesome cache Tankengine!

405 @9am

My first bicycle ride in more than 30 years was a lot of fun.

An excellent flat meander along the river which had some good levels of water in it. Enjoyed the gorge/cliff areas. Nice GZ down by the river.

Thanks TankEngine for an excellent cache

Dropped off the World Travel coin but I didn't expect it to be picked up just 3 hours later

Found this one on a nice run with Mrs Bent, geopooch and dog of Hawke-eye. Had actually been looking for this cache about 6 months ago but didnt have Mrs Bent with me that time who came up with the find.

Great little spot and run down the river. Left a fun run medal and took another medal. TFTC

..."The long and winding road".. Ride your mtn bike for this one or like me you'll be singing that tune for a while (The flattest track to any cache in the ACT). Another one of your locations with a zillion hiding spots and poor GPS reception. Took about 20 mins to finally locate so I must be learning! LN took the travel bug that has been here some months. Thanks TE

I used to live nearby so I used to ride my old MTB a lot down here (from the western gate) a lot in the early 1990's. Unfortunately, a few too many trail bikes causing damage on the farm section resulted in the farmer denying access for all from the west. Pity, I used to like the Cooeeeee down the hill.

So I approached this one from the Eastern gate. (after doing a Fore! cache, Fore!warned). At the gate the gps said 4km to cache. (at the cache my bike computer had measured 6km along the tracks - so it certainly meanders a bit).
So I rode the MTB in all the way except the last 20m.

Even considered taking the short cuts seeing as I was "allowed" to - see picture.

Dismounted bike and had the cache in 1 minute. Signed log in beautiful peaceful surrounding with a quiet trickle of water and lots of birds. Took a Marvin, left a palm tree. Grabbed and dropped the TB.

Then back to bike, pushed it for about 40m then rode all the way out of there, a 12km return trip in an easy paced 65 mins, Coooeeee.

Excellent location TankEngine, well done.

Dropping off TB PALK. Took him down to the river then decided to leave him here where he is secluded and safe from those who may want to harm him.

I tried this yesterday from the west but couldn't find a spot to start. All entrances seemed to be private.

Today. A nice long walk. I thought I could get there and back in just over an hour, but it took me about 2.5 hours. The walk was easy but not very straight. Very meandering.

Wonderful lost spot, once you get to the area. Looks like the area once has a population through that enjoyed it.

Thanks for taking me there, Tankengine. Took FTF card. Left nothing.
