Found a break in the weather and did the loop in the area this afternoon. Cache is in good condition. Thanks for being me to this area. I'm sure it gets crazy busy in the summer time.
I did find it after approaching from a different angle this might help others find it! I did notice however the co-ords still out by 6 metres or so
Found on a windy day, almost lost the contents of the box! All well and safely stashed back
It was time for a stretch of the legs for me and the dog this morning. With a couple of caches still to be found on these hills I headed round to this one first. An nice walk around and quite a few people out and about, but luckily all quiet upon arrival at GZ.
Found the cache in the first spot I looked so an easy find.
Cache and log are in great shape. I replaced just as I’d found and right before a group of 20+ cyclists on e-bikes came around the corner.
That was the easier cache this morning. A bit more of a hike to the next one.

FYI, the cache is not in a new spot - it has never moved nor gone missing while under my care. The coords were fixed because they had historically been in error by several metres and I assumed that's why people keep having trouble finding it.
Turning a frowny into a smiley today. I could've sworn I checked this exact spot last time but evidently not as this was a very quick and easy find. As much as I'd want to blame the co ords, it was probably just me. Cheers!
It was a very nice and quiet evening. Finding it wasn't hard at all even though it was already very dusky, almost dark. Cache is safe and sound. New spot is much better as GPS wasn't playing up and indicated cache location very well.

#167. Found by a good friend of mine (non-cacher) enjoyed the walk and many geo hounds with their muggle owners. TFTC.
Thanks, Trancer96, for the help. I admit I am one of those who needed it.
I thought I did check that spot in the 2 visits I had here. Apparently not.
I took the Geokrety and will move it along
Cheers

Finally got improved coords for this cache. It's always been out by 5m or so everytime I visit so should be better now.

This must be my most visited cache that I own and has not needed maintenance once since I took ownership. It's still exactly where it's always been and still visible by its anti-camo once in the right place. I will bump up the difficult rating a bit to reflect the fact that it doesn't seem to be easy to find. Although there is nothing particularly evil about the hide. I have added a spoiler photo in this log because I don't really want people to be DNFing this all the time.
Looked for ages in the whole area, but alas could not find no matter how hard we tried.
Really wanted to find this one but despite hints etc it just didn't want to be found by me today.
After two DNFs from pretty experienced cachers I thought it would be worth checking this out. Maybe the nearby 11 kV line work has disturbed it? No - they're over 100m away. Didn't take me long to find the cache again and it's exactly where it's supposed to be and still a helpfully bright blue to make it slightly easier than finding a dark lurking cache.
It might have been prudent to check the coords while I was here but alas I did not. However if a photo I took is any indication the cache might be 5m SE of where the coords allege.
I'm staggered that a Sistema basically sitting in the grass is still dry and in good condition. These containers are a real enigma.

Day 17 - Labour weekend extended road trip - these last few days north of the ditch catching up with family and pre caching haunts.
Had a quick look here, but couldn't see anything without getting into the gorse, so back down the hill to catch up with my mugglish family

No luck here but limited time to look with rest of my group disappearing around the point.

Quick find with the littles today. Gorgeous day for a cache. Apologies I broke the pen so this is a BYOP, I'm sorry . Kids loved it.
Picked up during a walk from the boat sheds to Onehunga Bay and beyond An overcast day with a very light NW breeze Just perfect for walking out here Despite living in Wellington for a very long time I've never previously walked on this side of the inlet Very glad to do it finally I can understand why the CO's sister liked to come out here
All good in here Thanks Trancer96

Who says older persons don’t like Outward Bound!!! Wish this was Manuka along here - sad to still see the gorse. What a grand view. A couple of oyster catchers on the beach having an argument. TFTC
Took a little longer than hoped for on this one (and with a slight aversion to gorse after a recent Pencarrow adventure!). Was about to give up when I thought I’d just try over the other side (having seen some other neat resting areas CO’s mentioned) and there it was! Many thanks- super spot! (Mermaid man- I went over your log so it is more visible )
This was a nice find while enjoying a family walk around the loop track. Thanks very much for looking after this good old cache.
Bugger, somewhere between here and another cache I've dropped my pen so had nothing to write on the log. I tried to work the pen in the cache with some success so that will have to do. Very windy out here today darn it.
Dropped a TB.

Yay! An easy find if you follow the hint. Bright cache also awesome. In good nick, nice and dry. My 3rd cache search today but the only successful one, so TVMFTC (very much)!
Stopped here to remind myself where this was hidden and to document it for future maintenance. It's not a great hiding place so I had a look around to find a better one to consider moving it in future. Without success I might add.
Kite surfers having a great time just offshore from here.

It is where you think it should be. They are right. Not many places to hide caches here. Had a nice sit and view spot as I signed the cache. TFTC
How I missed this one when last here in November I do not know. Found within seconds today. TFTC.
After a nearby DNF I then turned my attention to this one and after a quick climb I soon had the cache in hand. Cool view from here. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. Much appreciated. TFTC
Wandering around the peninsula on a beautiful sunny winter’s day. Like others, I nearly gave up but was rewarded when I expanded my search. TFTC
Took a little bit of looking around but it soon turned up. Plenty to trade in this one. Wiped everything down with a steri-wipe after we’d finished so that it’s ready for the next people who find it. TFTC.
A rare day out for us so trying to get a bit of caching in before our repatriation to UK next week. Tftc
Enjoyed a walk around the bay, quite a busy little track but looks well looked after, many friendly dogs also. thanks for the placement.
Together with TEMBO! I had a really interesting geocaching-trip today. We could find some geocaches, met some locals and had a great talk to them.
Concerning this geocache I want to say thanks because we had much fun in searching and finding this geocache! The cache made our trip even more interesting!

Didnt find anything where the GPS was pointing so spread the search a bit wider and quickly found the cache. Thanks SAROC

I must be overthinking some of the hints as I seem to struggle to find the elusive cache. I was sure I was heading for the correct location After 20 minutes or so and many spikes to the hands I moved on. Will try again another day.
With such glorious Spring weather on offer, I decided to have the afternoon off off in order to travel down to Porirua and Tawa in order to grab my 2000th cache (one I had in mind) and at the same time have a crack at getting the 32 caches I needed to complete 50 for the month of September (a personal requirement) by taking a decent walk around the headland at Titahi Bay starting at the Titahi Bay Boating Club and walking around to Whitireia Park before cutting back through past the Golf Club.
In the end I managed to get 30 caches, the last 8 or 9 being found in the dark, before I called time on my attempt knowing I would be able to complete my task over the coming weekend, so all in all I had a great afternoon in the sun, which is what a great deal of Geocaching means for me.
This was a quick and straightforward find at GZ. I don't know if it was so much skill as instinct but I made a beeline straight for this cache. All was fine with the container and the log sheet, so once the log was signed the whole lot was put back exactly as found.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache.

# 1649 Out on a mission with the DangerBOY today to pick up a few caches to help me along for the 35 required for the Mystery at the Museum Challenge. We started on the balance bike but after a short while we were in the pram, and boy that was fun to push around this track. A great selection of very cool cache containers - i think i will use up all my favourite points on this trail! Thanks to SAROC and others for a great adventure, that kept the DangerBOY amused for the whole three hours it took!
This was funny, i had to leave the boy in the pram with pretzels while I ninja'd up the hill to the perch. I also had to return a number of times to assure the passerbys that he was infact not a neglected boy... sitting there with snot running out his nose, trying to give away snotty pretzels. Also had to have the 'this is geocaching' speech a few times too. Took me a while to find the exact spot this one was in, but when you see it, the container is very obvious. TB out.

This is my 700th find! Don't know why we had trouble finding it last time, it was a quick find today. Good to see lots of people out enjoying the area. Dropped off a TB. TFTC.
A walk around the peninsula today, collecting caches.
Another quick find.

Whitireia Park is a headland with commanding views over Mana Island and Porirua Harbour. The park comprises around 180 hectares of predominantly open space grasslands with some native bush.
It provides leisure activities such as fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, rock climbing, bird spotting and walking. The park also provides a unique opportunity for people to undertake a variety of leisure activities in or on the water including swimming, kite surfing and diving. It also has quite a few geocaches which is the main reason I will be visiting it every day for the next week or so!
Steeped in Māori history, it is believed that the anchor stone of the canoe of legendary Māori explorer, Kupe, lay on Onehunga Beach for centuries. There is a cache to celebrate this fact. The actual stone is now housed in Te Papa Museum.
I have unfinished business here. Last time I spent a few days in this area was around July 2018. I found a few caches back then and walked all the tracks that I could find. My mission this week is a bit more targeted. Just one cache per day... but not missing any days. Also, I’m sorry about the delay in posting some of these logs. I’ve had some wifi problems at home and I prefer to spend my mobile data on the searching rather than the logging which I can catch up with at any time.
About this cache:
I was very lucky to get here when there was still a bit of daylight left in the day. I doubt I would have found it in the dark. Persistence paid off!
Thank you

Me and a another fellow cacher (Juddy) decided to plan a weekend away, so we met part of the way to Wellington, we stopped off to help a fellow geocacher then it was on the road again we arrived at the accommodation site about 8pm set up for the night then ready for the adventure the next two days. Morning hit and it was time to get set for the day, Hit the road again headed for Owhiro Bay , what an amazing day we deffinately chose the right weekend for geocaching and adventure. Unloaded the 4 wheeler and prepared for today's journey as far as we could depending on tides and time. Heaps of muggles around hard to be undetected and not look out of place people we all acknowledging you as you passed them by, great atmosphere made the day so cool nice people to talk to even got offered Paua to take home but unfortunately we had no where to cook it, we helped them by transporting some Paua from A to B. Managed to get all the caches but unfortunately had one Did not find for the day disappointing but just a bit hard for us to get to. We stopped at Tongue point for lunch a well deserved rest by this time. Then we continued on our way got a few more caches then got to a point that we could not gain access any further without entering the sea. Finally it was time to head back to the van load up the 4 wheeler in the van and headed out for dinner and then realized I had left my wallet behind at the accommodation, My mate paid for me luckily. Finally back to the accommodation for a shower and a rest an early night was had. left nothing took nothing and signed log and placed cache back where it was found. Thank you for placing a cache out here we really had a great day if it wasnt for caching we would probably never come out here and missed out on this amazing place and adventure.
Well its now sunday and we are still in the wellington area only moved a few kilometre's north to this vicinity as we were staying in the local NZMCA park and today we are venturing in this area to pick up some of the caches around whiteria park.
So it's now on to the next one.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley.

A nice Sunday afternoon for a walk, and a plan to collect seven new or previously DNF'd or skipped caches in the area, This was number 2. Not sure how I missed this last time, as it seemed so obvious. quickly found and logged between passing family's and dogs. All safe and dry here, TFTC.
Nearly gave up on this, was about to head back when I thought I'd give the CO the credit of not putting the cache in horrible boxthorn or spiky gorse where I'd been searching from the GPS.. A few more tries later I saw the right colour and was relieved to have the decently-sized container in hand. Lovely viewpoint, thanks for the hide.
Finally caching up on logs been overseas. Enjoyed our caching around Wellington. TFTC
We have moved north after the MEGA and decided to do the bike ride around . . Caching with Dodge1923. Awesome area, nice to see all the families out enjoying the beautiful day . Really enjoyed all the themed caches on our way around...Thanks for the cache
First time exploring out this way! Thoroughly enjoyed all the caches along the way Only had 2 out of 20 i couldnt find. Good hint and co-ordinates. TFTC!
Out enjoying a night walk around the loop track tonight to get my hidden creatures numbers up. Spent some time searching all around here, with no luck.
spent a while searching but didn't find it unfortunately, prickly area to be searching in, thought it should have been easy to find given the size, but kids wanted to move on, and given the previous dnf I agreed, thanks anyway
Spent ages looking and finally gave up, been a long time since I have done that. Found some good hiding spots, but no cache
Maintenance run this morning. Cache checked over, log replaced. Should be good for another 5,000km's or what ever the geocaching equivalent is
Come find me and hope you enjoy the walk.
Come find me and hope you enjoy the walk.
Trickier to find this one and wasn't sure what the clue meant but the size of container meant it had to be found. Thanks for adopting this cache SAROC
In Wellington for a few days catching up with friends and family. With a few hours up my sleeve today, I have Whitireia Park on my radar - so lets go for a walk.
Hunted here before finally snagging and tagging this elusive one. Cheers

Took a couple of minutes to find but did in the end and happy to report all OK Picked up a TB to take on further travels. Thanks CO for the cache
For some reason, my phone was jumping around and this took longer to find than any of the others so far. Anyway, cache all in good order. TFTC
Found on our way around the loop track. It helped when we checked the cache size and knew there were not too many options to hide it. tftc
Lovely views from this spot. Have retrieved TB and also left one in the cache in exchange. . TFTC
Started my Saturday with a lovely walk around this loop finding lots of caches and enjoying watching the action on and in the water. Nice breeze and sun, so made for an excellent walk. Thanks for the caches.
Windy night out, back to try and finish the park loop of caches, easy find tonight tftc
At the suggestion of the CO, I went for a walk around the Onepoto Loop Track late this afternoon. Little bit of scramble and looking to find. All good in the cache, and as there was some spare room I dropped off a TB I picked up in the South Island. *TFTC SAROC #109*
After a weekend of rubbish weather nice to have anniversary day to get out for a cache hunt, unfortunately couldn't locate this one
