Our local cache inspector tells us high water may have swept this one away. Will investigate.
Would have been a muddy adventure without the hint, which made the find reasonably straight forward. GPS pointed out to the mud flats. Later verified on http://maps.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/AucklandCouncilViewer/ that the coordinates are about 13m out.
I had a real good look for this one. The GPS co-ords indicate that it's somewhere different to where the clue implies it is, so I took more note of the clue and looked under about 3,000 rocks, nooks and cranies. But it still remained well and truly hidden from my eyes.
Had been searching a wee while when ishoot turned up. A further 1/2 hour and we still hadn't come up with the goods. Had to leave for the CITO event. Returned afterwards with the additional infor from owner (we had been a bit of with the co-ords due to weather). However it still took some time. I was surtain I had the spot but no luck, ishoot also rumaged around. After having another wider search, we were about ready to give up when I had 1more look where we were suer it should be. Eureka, at last!!! Cache was rather wet, dried out, dried as many swaps as possible and removed ruined ones and wet silica. Added a couple of swaps and put silica in with log bag (log book was ok). TFTC
wow this caused us a headache! searched for ages and felt sure we found the right spot, and likely hiding place from the clue, but couldn't find the cache. was returning to the car when Rosmar passed in their cache-mobile and asked if we'd found it, as they had found it a year ago. so they got out and came to help us, then Evil9 turned up to look for this cache, all 4 of us searching to no avail...and then Mr Rosmar spotted someting with his nifty torch. the cache had slipped right down and was very difficult to retrieve. after a bit of teasing and manipulation he had the cache in hand (again!) we replaced it in the (hopefully) correct spot. took TB. TFTC
I teamed up with Helefant to do a few local caches before/after a CITO event.
This one caused us a bit of grief as well. Before the CITO we both were looking 10 meters from GZ.
Looked under every rock on the coastline!!! Helefant caught up with TramperTed during the day and got some info to help our search.
After the event we headed off to sign the log, but first we checked all the rocks on the coast again!!
Eventually we found it after searching the same hole THREE TIMES!!
Thanks for the hunt and the cache.

There's definitely a benefit in caching in numbers... I'd made my way over after knocking off a couple of nearby puzzles and came across rosmar and mattyandjax who happily told me to go and find it. Just as I was thinking that they had already found it and they were going to watch me fumble around for a while they let me know that they couldn't find it either though we all figured out where it should have been pretty early on. Luckily experienced hands were on site and we were soon in luck, though I was involved in keeping the tide back more than helping retrieve the cache. Nice to meet you mattyandjax and always nice to see rosmar - especially this time! TFTC
Nice area, and very nice little playground and beach down the way. Found after a short search. Cache was very wet but notebook still dry. Too butterfly and necklace, left car and animal, and dropped off the Eli Phant TB. TFTC!
A pleasant spot beside the water, Came here a couple of years ago and couldn't find the cache. This time no problems. Thanks
Took a little while (and the hint), but we were rather constrained by some friendly muggles, including inquisitive dog! According to small muggle, there's a crocodile in the drain.....! Team work paid off here - as it nearly always does. TFTC!
Yeap this was a rocky retreat alright. Muggles near by, little muggle kept on talking as little muggles do. Between three of us we had it sorted. One kept the little muggle occupied, on sitting, one doing the business. Retreived and place with team work at its best. Thanks for the adventure on this one! Next time I think I must bring the kayak and explore over this side. TFTC!
Small muffles playing Steve Irwin in the rocks made it more challenging, but KnK and BWM got there in the end.
TFTC. Sorry for delay in logging! Life gets in the way of my caching sometimes.

Another to tick off my DNF list. How did I miss this the first (and second) times? Thanks.
Straight to this one and found not one cache but two. The replacement cache that was placed in Jan 2010 was under the original and had an empty logbook. TFTC
Glad to get this one off my list. Been here before, but Stu4 gave a few pointers this time ...TFTC

Well I am glad to get this one out of the way. I have been twice before, once as one of my first caches and I actually thought it might be in the mud. Next, too focused on the tree. Now know to look around a bit more. Tried a different tree, found the rock, but no cache. Sat down and saw cache out in the open not far away. Contents a little damp but all OK. TFTC
On our second visit we found what appeared to be the 'rock' mentioned in the clue, but no sign of the cache. Will return another day.
Went and had a look for the cache and could not find it where it was meant to be. Believe it may have gone, so have replaced it.
Nope, this one has me beat. Ive looked a couple of times and still are none the wiser. Im sure that its not where the GPS; 15m into the water, is it???
Lovely day for some local caching. Auckland has some beautiful spots that are hard to believe exist in a city. Took a while to get the clue, but then........... and had lunch sitting on the shaded grassy bank with some tuis overhead. TFTC
11:24 Had the family with me for this one, first cache with my new Dakota 20. Were a bit puzzled to start with but soon worked it out. The GC is not in the cache. TFTC.

Oddly, I was on the spot yesterday but just not brutal enough!! Once located nice and straightforward. T4TC
Found as part of my three week caching trip from Wellington to Auckland - # 958. Thanks.
Took a little while, Mugglers around and GPS hinting we should go for a swim lol
All good.
Geocoin out, Key ring in.

hard one for me standing out in the middle of know where. But we got it in the end. Was great fun
Decided to give this one a go during lunch hour. Co-ords were out a bit for me but hint was used to narrow down the search. Spotted something when on the beach which proved to be the item mentioned in the hint. TFTC TNLNSL

This one had us going a little bit. Coordinates were a little wide but the clue makes sense when you find the cache.
It would seem like a high muggle zone but is situated just out of range and blocked by the bushes just so.
The kids had a good play at the park when we were done. Tide was up. Sun was shining.
We dropped off a coin on our way out too.

On a short visit to Auckland, and this one was just down the road from where we were staying. Neat spot. Like Biggles, our GPS put us about 12m out in the tide. But with a bit of a look around, and reference to the clue, we soon had cache in hand. TNLNSL. Thanks.
(No.9) on the cache raid and it is definitely not about the numbers (TUI), what a great little hidden spot with a nice view, can just imagine what this place would be like in the summer and holidays muggle central, , love the views around these bays they just get better and better, reminds me of when I use to live in Tauranga, definitely no sign of a TB in this cache, TFTC TNLNSL (860)
Tried this one a while ago on a previous visit to Auckland. Passing through again this morning so had another go. GPS had me in the mud about 12m from GZ but after I broadened my search area the cache was located. No sign of the trackables in this one though. Used to live just round the corner from here in Belfast Street so nice to revisit old home turf. TFTC, Biggles.
Lunch stop on another caching day and GPS led us straight to GZ then a quick find T4TC.

Were a bit confused with the hint but it all made sense when we spotted it, feet dry.

Came here yesterday, and found a really obvious rock that my GPS pointed at... out into the water. Decided that must be the one. I was wrong
Found it with a bit of work today, when the tide wasn't all the way up.

11.30am. FTF in the new position. Nice and easy too. First time at this beach. Tide was out so I didn't get wet feet. Dropped off a piece of wooden puzzle TB.
Thank you. David.

Had a good poke around, but obviously not in the right spot. Alas this prize eluded me and will have to wait another day.
Found it at last! I figured enough trips and enough poking hidey holes that I would find it eventually Cheers Gav [3495]
my gps kept sending me to a tree and no joy in the search - but still enjoyed the rummage I would like to say I will be back but alas off to continue our hols from the UK TFTC anyway - nice location - there is plenty more fish in the see - cheers
With all the DNF in the logs this one didn't look very promising. So we were quite surprised when we found the cache after just a few minutes of searching. The coordinates were right on the spot. TFTC.

Tricky number for sure.
Co-ords seem a bit out but by sheer perseverance we nailed it.
Needed to drain more water out of it too.!!
Thanks for the challenge

Intersesting container. I used to live near here as a teenager. Found with KiwiLeon. T4TC
13:00 Finally found this one, after several attempts sneaky hide indeed. Nelson and Boo our TB's were not impressed . We were on our way back from Wellington, so we took the chance to have another go.
Thanks for the cache guys.

This cache is reminiscent of Titanic Erratic down the West Coast of the Sth Island, only this took just 5 minutes instead of 3 hours.
Seems like a no. of people have had 2 attempts to get this one as well!
Really nice hide, dropped off Tb, took Tb in residence.

Thanks found it relatively easily on second visit. Left TB. Lovely area at sunset.
Thought this would be easy but alas couldn't spot the container. Will try again another day.
#353 6th of 8. 3pm This one took a bit of time, but with the tide out and the children happily collecting shells, we finally found it. A rocky retreat is very apt. TNLNSL. TFTC.
21:16 On my way home from the Airport, so thought I would do some night caching and try again to locate this retreat. But no another DNF, I could almost hear TT laughing at my luck , anyway one for another day.
Had to wait a while for a group of muggles to move away, but then it was a fairly quick find after carefully surveying the scene. Nice hide. TNLN
Oh dear, spent quite some time in search of.... but no joy. Thanks for the cache location anyway.
First we sat down. Then we looked without the clue and found...a computer game hidden under the stairs. Still with a shop security device seal. Probably stolen and hidden. We will take it to the police tomorrow.
Then we tried the clue and searched the wrong tree. Finally we figured out the right one and after a while had the container. All wet and ripped ziplocks. We removed all items that were too wet or rusty, exchanged the bags by new ones and added silica satchels. Hm, this container type normally should be tight enough to survive coastal climate.
And because we already had a small amount of rubbish in our plastic bag, we added some strewn things from the lawn and left the place cleaner as it was before - can we create the term NITO (N=nothing)?
Took: Damaged items

Flushed with the success of 3 easy local finds, I whistled in here, grab one more before tea only to find, well, --not find, anything! Shall watch this site with an eagle eye---Glyn
Nice quick find and thankful for that, rock puzzles are generally very unkind to me.

It was a lovely place that i would not have otherwise seen. I didn't find the cache. Still a very nice place to visit.

Had a good look here on a fabulous afternoon but buggered if I could find the cache. Hint wasn't much use either. The location was still lovely Cheers Gav
I needed a little walk, so I started from about 1.5km away, and walked over the the beach. It took a little while to locate the cache, as it was correctly covered with camouflage stones. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(701)
Took a few trips to get this one. Finding the right rock was a challenge, not helped by flaky GPS performance here, even with good satellites. Nice hide. TNLN. Cheers Tramper Ted
Found this while zooming around Auckland for the "Grave Concern" cache. We moved heaps of basalt to find this one. Muggins said in jest.. "must have been sitting on it eh" ... XC found it directly under my last perch.
Great spot, well used by locals. Thanks for bringing us here.

Out hunting on Xena for a change.. chasing a multi cache around some grave yards with TechnoKitten riding shotgun as usual... saw this one close by and decided to get at least one find for the day.. These multi's require work and calculation.. mumble.. mumble..
GPSr locked on we honed in and spent considerable time rearranging rocks under said mangrove..
If it was for me I would kill every mangrove on the harbour.. they are weeds...
anyway just when I was about to give up I took the easier view and came up with the cache... TK had been sitting on it..!!! lol... as usual...
TK Signed the log in her inimitible way...
Took clippers as they were starting to rust...
Left frog as he likes it damp...
left calling cards and logged thru travelling coins and bugs...

Out with the gang today, to be active and complete some finds. Deka was the one that located it's exact position. It was a bit of a race. No muggles around though. Would make a nice spot for reading a book or relaxing.
One a mission to day to get to 50!!! one more to go. OUt with the girls and Kaimai thought she had it but no. Hahahaha!!! Deka got this one as well. On with the fun!
