I've decided to archive this cache as it gets too wet every time the river floods. I'll create another not too far away.
When found, contents were wet. Emptied out cache of water, and replaced where found. Thanks
Found soon after finding another Grandalf cache. This one was a bit easier. TFTC.
Had a wee bit of trouble with our plant ID on this one, but got there in the end. TNLN TFTC
Took longer than I expected. We were using a hand drawn map based on the Google satellite photo so had to search about a 10 meter strip. It was very well concealed and just a bit damp from yesterday's rain.
Almost gave up. Didn't expect a container this large to disappear so easily in such a small area.
An easy find by the waterside walk. Thanks for bringing us to this area. SL. TFTC.
Also logging in and out our England Geocoin.

Yep, parked up close, use to come here fishing as a kid, thanks!

quick bike ride from on saturday afternoon. dropped off a tb. took nothing. thanks for the cache.
We expected a walk to this cache, and instead parked almost on top of it - Mr B got a botanical lesson whilst searching when Mrs B came up trumps! Poured the water from the cache, although log mostly dry, swaps probably need refreshing (or replacing!)
I enjoyed this Cache, I saw a Monarch butterfly on the tree right above the Cache. Thanks!!
This Cache was a bit soggy, might need a new container, the new logbook is already damp. Cheers

Found it quickly. Got a branch in the face for my bother. Sometimes I wish I was built lower to the ground. Cache was a little bit soggy.

Last week I searched and searched and just couldn't find it and today put my hand on it straight away.Cache nice and dry which was surprising as it looks like the river had been very high after last week's rain.
Found the cache in the spot as described,
Tried to register our find, but the log book had expired.

It took 3 goes to find this. Last July I had a go but gave up as the area was muddy after a lot of rain and the cache didn't spring out. And then a week ago going through a pile of 'not found' thought I'd have another go. After a fruitless 20 minutes I gave up, came home looked it up again and found that it had been moved. Back I go again and this time quickly find it. I must be mad.
TNLN and thanks for the cache. Hatas

YAY! this one was easy to find, but it would of helped if i had known what an akeake bush looked like! my first one, after joining geocaching.com
Picked my daughter up from school and dragged her out geocaching, much to her horror. Ended up getting home late and having to promise no caching tomorrow! LOL. A nice easy find to get her started for the afternoon.
Not actually cache hunting at this late stage of the day but was passing close by and just couldn't resist. Quick find.

We went into this one with an old printout and after scrabbling around ALL of the Cabbage trees in the locale for ½ an hour we decided to give it up. Came home and prepared to log it and find that the cache has been moved soooooo... "Right we are going to knock this bugger off!!" so once more unto the breach dear friends and we headed out with a new printout... We still had to resort to the clue and Hullooooo What the heck is an nxrnxr ohfu?? Only one of us is a gardener and she's an Aussie!!! Anyway we finally figured it out and there it was.. Ciotach discovered it..

I can't believe this has been available for so long and I had not got round to finding it. No swaps. Cheers.
Looks like a busy day at this cache today. Not at hard as the typical Grandalf cache though. TNLN Thanks.
And another find on March 24. We didn't so much hunt for the cache as follow the trail of trampled grass straight to the box. Oh well, a find is a find. TNLN. There's almost no loot left. Thanks.

Had a look for this cache today but didnt find it,,,Bugger came home and found out the cache has been moved,,,damm so close, my fault, I will be back, thanks
A good brisk lunchtime walk from work. Managed to get back before the rain. Thankyou
Not sure about this spot. Really exposed to traffic on the other side, and there was lots of it whizzing past today. Sure we must have looked dodgy! TFTC
Didnt do the walk today as we were in a hurry, but thanks for the cache. No swaps.
I've shifted the cache to slightly higher ground but still very close to the old coordinates. Added a new hint, and instructions.
The new coords are:

Found with the A team from Alex.
Parked right beside it.
Easy find for Wendy while the others were floundering upriver.

Another quick find today. The container was fairly bereft. Seeing as every kid in the neighbourhood seems to know about this, we decided it mightn't be wise to restock it. TNLN
Well this was right out in the open, some kids had found it, loged their vists and left it in the grass, hope I put it in the right place. The water had been up there also and may have washed it out, it was dry.
TNLN
Thanks

[I went there the other day but couldnt find it. I went back and used the clue and still couldnt find it.] It may have been washed away early this week with all the rain which raised the water level. I found debris all around the base of the tree, but no cache. [But then again, I may have missed it.]
Very quick find, TNLN, after walking a 9km circuit up Huntsbury and down Bowenvale.
Still pretty sticky underfoot after recent floods but cache is still in place. Our third find of the day.TNLN.
Found this one without to much hassle. Looking at the damage to the surroundings it was amazing it survived the recent flooding. "Bucko-dad" stopped to say hello on his way home from work. Nice to meet him. TNLN Thanks
The little flood that Hello Mrs saw on 29 July was seriously eclipsed by the last deluge. As I passed by yesterday, I noted that the cache site was UNDER about 70cm of brown water. So today, as the waters had receded, I went to check on its health and/or presence. Wonders will never cease!! The cachebox had floated up among the hanging fronds of the trusty tree, and was still in place - albeit a wee bit wet inside, after being under at least 40cm of water overnight. The logbook was perfectly dry, showing the effectiveness of snaplock plastic bags. So I drained out the few drops of water, and dried it all out, and now it is back in its usual spot, waiting for the next finder.
Found at the end of a busy day cache hunting. Cache was dry so was not flooded - risky place, plenty of flood debris around. Took TB and left knucklebone.
9:05pm, #13 of day 5 of our week in Chch (that's 82 to date). Nice easy find, no muggles about at this time of night.
My new gps lead me a merry dance here - the electronic compass seemed to be stuck. Mmmmm, wonder what happened there? + Winnie the Pooh's Pencil Sharpener. - the appropriate Fast Eddie's 'Predator' 4X4 Truck TB (I'll take him up the Port Hills in my 4X4 Truck.
Twas a relatively quick and easy find tonight! Of course the darkness meant there were few muggles around. Not quite slippery under foot - but still had to be careful. No exchange made. Cheers Gav [887]
Even though we both are sick it was good to get out in thewinter sun and find a cache. Spotted a likely spot but decoded the hint just to be sure so as to avoid any damage to the plants, had the right hidely hole. It was very busy with muggles doing what ever it is muggles do. + 4x4 monster truck TB, - facepaint.
Easy location but it was very wet and slippery. WWould need to be careful if the river was any higher.

Area around very wet and boggy. Even had to help push a van out near by as driver just pulled of road to eat lunch and got stuck. TFTC
2:10 pm - Fellow who lives over the road now knows all about geocaching. At the end of the explanation he asked what else do you use it for? He just does not understand GAS! 8th of 11 completed today on a boys own caching weekend. TNLN. TFTC.

Very boggy round cache site today, almost slid in the river. Cache is still dry. No swaps.
I see people have been wondering whether the cache was at risk of getting wet during the latest Heathcote River floods. Well, I went to check on it after the water went down, and found that the water level had indeed been above the cachebox, but the hiding-place had held it very nicely from floating away. The cachebox was still dry and very cosy. That's why I put it where I did - I used to work as an engineer for the Council, involved in measuring river levels, so I had a good idea what would happen.
Another easy after dark find. The flood debris from the last flood seems to be about cache level, I think it had a lucky escape there, it was a bit damp inside but the bags kept the stuff dry.
Thanks Grandalf

1121. Decided to catch up on some new caches that have come out while we were away. We had to evade the council workers who were clearing the roadside garden. The river was very high this morning.
Out with our friends - now known as Nodo.

Seeing as it's only a few 100m away from Oli's after school care, there was no excuse for not nabbing it on the way past. TNLN, Thanks.
Tonight we had the middle buckoboys' 9th Birthday party. It was a geocaching party, with geocaching cake, and of course geocaching both daylight and night time caches. What fun you can have with 8 9 year olds (and the smallest buckoboy in tow).
This was the second of the caches to find, after setting another one of our own.
Thanks Grandalf for your help with finding the spot.
