The word tempest brings thoughts of rugged weather to mind, so it was a relief to find myself waking to another beautiful day on the island. After taking some time out at camp waiting for the tide to turn, it was time to go for a walk up a sand mountain. Not being as physically able as I have been every year of my life up until 2 years ago, it took me a bit of time to make my way up the hill, limping the last third up and literally crawling up the final steps to the top. Haha. Oh my gosh, the pain in my back and hip! Haha. I was a little reluctant to go off track on the way up to find the cache, but I am glad I made the effort. The reward of the view was well worth it all in the end, and the return walk was a breeze. Thanks
Spending the weekend on Moreton Island with Beardman75, Peppa, Now-Tomorrow and wayn0 running amuck and seeing what this beautiful island has to offer. After exploring the wrecks we headed inland to wait for the tide to recede. We made sure we had appropriate footwear then began our walk up the hill. The climb up was worth it for the fabulous views at the top. Thanks for the cache FangsokiFind #6560
We are on a mission to Moreton Island to get Peppa a milestone with an apparently "secret" plan involving Davinells, wayn0, NTM, and myself. A tough hike up the hill at midday but I'm not letting a 20m bush bash stop me. Thanks Fangsoki and happy caching
Davinells had a secret plan A weekend on Moreton Island in the still Chainsawless Pajero that required much consultation with the oracle that is Wayn0 With the promise of Glamping, the tides were read, charts & maps examined, and secret plans confirmed Coming across very early Saturday morning meant Venus was in alignment with Scorpio and we would experience all the joys of Moreton without having to float the car down the beach or at least thats what I heard but I wasnt party to all the secret planning, so Did I mention we got to Glamp!!!Spectacular views and thanks to appropriate footwear, the cache was soon in handThanks Fangsoki
It's a lovely walk up here but too much bush bashing involved if not wearing shoes. Not sure why it's so necessary to hide the cache over 20m from the path.
We set out on this walk departing from the trailhead east of Mount Tempest just before 09:00 hr. It was a total distance of 2.7 km across an elevation of 147m, with a moving time of 0:45 hr, and a total time of 1:15 hr, as per my [Strava record](https://www.strava.com/activities/10829696416). A pleasant walk, and a bit of a lug carrying baby Cottontail on my back.We arrived near the top, when we found a small geotrail from the main trail at S 27 08.530' E 153 24.234', which was about 20 m away. A great cache placement, and the recent ammo can replacement is a beauty! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. The views from the top were spectacular, and we sat for 15-20 min just enjoying the scenery, before more geocaches beckoned. Thanks Seaeagle1 for the cache placement, and [Fangsoki](https://coord.info/PR3MMTD) for its ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 05/2006 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 500 oldest yet active geocaches.Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/[jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) stamp. ---------- This trip, [jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), baby Cottontail and I had a Moreton Island extended weekend staying at Tangalooma Resort. We took a northern island circuit on Friday visiting Cape Moreton Lighthouse, and then on Saturday was a driving expedition to the south visiting Mount Tempest, Kooringal, Rous Battery, and the Desert. On our final day on Sunday, we relaxed and enjoyed a couple of swims that included a stop at Tangalooma Wrecks. A family weekend adventure that we made the most of with the weather that we were dealt!Today, the weather was remarkably better, and we planned to visit the southern half of Moreton Island. We walked/hiked Mount Tempest as our starting morning activity, and following that hot workout, we headed south with a planned stop at Mirapool Lagoon that fizzled (not the calm lagoon that we had hoped). The Gutter Bar in Kooringal was an unexpected highlight, and we setup on a nearby beach for a dip and swim. During our return, we stopped at Rous Battery and other nearby structures that were also an island highlight. Before returning to Tangalooma, in the late afternoon, we stopped at the Desert for a sand toboggan down the sand slopes.
I visited Mount Tempest twice today bringing up two different groups of muggles. I checked on the cache while here and all is well. This is an underrated summit and an underrated part of Moreton Island. Great location. Happy caching!
Staggered up the sandy track and reached the summit. What a great view . Had walked here from Bulwer about 35 years ago, but can"t remember much of that walk. Cache found good and dry, so added to the log. TFTC.
No service = couldnt check the photo. We checked out afew gums but didnt find the cache. Great lookout though worth the hike!
Easy find after a pleasant stroll up the Tempest with Taipan. Excellent view from the top. Love these real busy caches!
Cache is in fine condition. TFTC

We were visiting the Island for some R & R, and I managed to get some time away from the rest of the family to go and look for this one.
What a great hike! I'll be bringing the boss back to this view next time
Thanks for the cache, and apologies for the late logging... life gets busy sometimes!

Number 6 for my Meandering Moreton weekend. New ammo tin. Forgot to look at photo but followed my geo instinct to exact spot with minimal impact. Log looks good , another beautiful spot on this great island

I was already at the top enjoying the view.
Great location for the cache.
Clean fresh air in your lungs up here.

Well, I finally got myself to this summit.. the 360’ views are spectacular on this fine clear day . A twenty minute walk up an easy to follow track. Highly recommend! It was better than expected! An added bonus was the Trig point up here which appeals to my nerdness haha. Container and log are in perfect condition. I added a pencil and plastic bag for the logbook.. I know what it’s like to forget a pen! Thanks for the cache, Fav.

My main goal for visiting this Island was to get to this summit. Unfortunately the 4WD track leading to the walking track was closed due to significant damage during the huge rainfalls last month. I didn’t have the time required for a much longer hike to achieve my goal. It shall remain on my to-do list. A worthy excuse to return to this great location..
Great hike up on a clear day. Made it half way down before realising the cache hadn’t been retrieved. Back up to get it then. No pen inside so could t log the book tftc
Found with Dora the Explorer and Phil Serenity. Wow these sand dunes get high. This is our fourth cache on this trip to Morton Island. TFTC
Fangsoki had a replacement cache for the one burnt out on the mountain but he wouldn't let us sign the log book at the car park so we had to make the climb with him. He politely let 1Minnimoo back pack it up the hill for him though.
After a few rest stops on the way we arrived at the cache site and Radnoski had already retrieved the remnants of the old cache. The log book was baked but you could read some of the logs on the black pages. The wood had been burnt off the pencil leaving a length of the lead.
We could now sign the new log book and the new cache was returned to the hiding spot.
We spent some time at the lookout picking out the various landmarks which we could see in the distance.
Thanks Seaeagle1 and Fangsoki for the experience. It was worth the effort of the climb.

This weekend, I had the pleasure of being invited to tag along with Fangsoki, 1MinnieMoo, Pprime, Herbz and Crew 153 for a terrific adventure on Moreton Island. This was my third trip to Moreton Island since I started geocaching, and each time it has not been a disappointment
We completed a variety of different caches while we explored the area and generally, had a great time while we were at it. I had attempted to visit this particular cache on my previous two visits but on each of those occasions, the track up to the cache was closed due to planned back burning. Well it was third time lucky for me today and after an enjoyable walk, the cache was soon located With our names added to the log book, and sufficient taking in of the views, we returned to the cars to head off to pick Radnoski for the remainder of the weekend [^]
Thank you Fangsoki for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy I am adding a favourite point now that I have been able to finally add my name to the logbook

A group of us, put together by Fangsoki, have been planning an assault on Moreton for quite some time now. But with one thing and another, followed by Covid, it just wasn’t happening. And then finally, we had a date set hard and fast!
But, finally, this weekend, the group of merry travellers boarded the barge and set off. Fangsoki, Pprime and Mr Herbz were the 4WDing chauffeurs for the weekend, while Crew153, Just A Trifle, and I were the cheerful passengers (to later be joined by Radnoski).
Now all the others had been to Moreton previously, so this was extra special for Crew153 and I, as it was our maiden Moreton voyage. With us having dealt with some form of storm and tempest on Friday after arrival, we were pleased for some decent weather now. It didn’t take long to feel rather warm during our hike up here, and I was happy to stop a number of times along the way to take in the views and get some happy snaps.
Arriving at GZ, and a check of the hint soon had us locating the cache. However it had also weathered some storm and tempest of its own, especially in the form of a fire. With container having seen better days, and the logbook now only charcoal (although we were surprised to discover we could still actually see the signatures of cachers on it), and all that was remaining of the pencil in the cache being the lead, Fangsoki took the opportunity to replace the old with a brand spanking new one, which should hopefully see out a number of years more.
Then we continued on and up to the top to check out more of those glorious views... and for some typical tomfoolery from one or two players.
Thanks for the cache Seaegle1 and for maintaining it Fangsoki.

This one may be in some serious danger from the approaching bushfires. Currently heading west to east north of middle road
Got as close as 18m but then you need some serious bush bashing. We gave a good go but it seems you need to go quite far off the path...
Great hike up Mt. Tempest and even better views!!!
The cache is about meters form the established path, however, do not be shy - the scrub is not as thick as one could think. As I was not wearing shoes for the hike, I was a bit worried about venturing away from the path - but do not worry! - I did not encounter anything spiky or unpleasant whilst looking for the cache.

Quite a climb for the younger ones but worth it for the view. Nothing in cache for swaps but left a small toy bear. TFTC
A hike to the top of Mount Tempest in the morning. After the great view we found the cache.

You need to go off the track Here for about 20 meters to get to the geocache cool one
Found while on a four day escape to the island. Today was our last day for geoching so we got up early and made our way to the car park for the walk up the hill. On our way up we took the time to take in so many nice views and to take a few photos as well. Now getting close to the top I followed the GPS off the track a bit and with the hit photo in mind made for an easy find. After signing the log and putting things back the way it was found we made our way to the very top for a short rest before we made our way back to the car park. This walk was so nice and we had a pitcher perfect day with clear views.
Thank you Fangsoki for keeping this one going.

We headed over to Moreton Island along with Fangsoki, Pprime (P`), sweet_bee, Herbz and catscatscats22 for the long weekend, and this cache was next up on the list for us! We pulled up on the beach below and made our way up towards GZ. A spectacular spot here where we managed to grab a few photos of the views out towards the ocean, and of the group After a quick search of the area, we soon had the cache in hand and added our names to the logbook [^]

When an invitation comes along to spend a (very) long weekend on an Island with great company, you can’t say no. And so I found myself on Moreton with Gaz’n’Kab, Wall-E, Fangsoki, sweet_bee, Pprime (P`), the Paj, Herbz, and the Prado.
It was a great few days, full of caches, sand, 4WDriving, camping, thunderstorms, dolphins, sand boarding, winning at said sand boarding, one not-quite-alive turtle, hiking, a birthday, and crabs.
Thank you Seaeagle1, and Fangsoki, for helping to make this trip!

Hit the island for a long weekend with Fangsoki, Sweet_bee, Gaz'n'Kab, Herbz and catscatscats22. Today's efforts were focussed on the centre of the island having been north and south last two days. First on the agenda is a mountain climb. On an oversized sandbar in the ocean. Yep - the tallest of the world's stable sand dunes. Right here in our backyard. Sort of. And with the CO along for the walk a guaranteed smilie.
The landscape is odd really. With everything being sand, to have trees, some decent sized ones even, growing in abundance just feels odd to me. But the path starting from the carpark is definitely sand - that is all too common around here. Then there are stairs, but then it's just a steady amble upwards with simply stunning views to your right. Out to the beach, the lagoon(s), the ocean. Lovely. Near the last bit short of the top we detoured off path (what I believe is in fact an older path - think the paths get moved occasionally to help the landscape), and headed to GZ.
Immediately I spotted what is now the removed cache contaienr, but we had thoughts a little further on where the original original container was, with the idea that maybe it was still buried out there. A solid look later and we believe it isn't. So back to the current one. A fresh contaienr, an ammo can even, in hand, we set about constructing a decent home for it, slightly south of posted coords - these have now been updated - and we signed the fresh log (removed the old one).
And now, I can claim a smilie on every cache container Fangsoki has popped out on this planet. (I missed one event, but that's an event). There may not be a huge number of hides, but they are a little spread out, and none have been disappointing. This was one of my personal goals for 2015, so with this cache sorted, I declare a tick on my goals list.
A fav point of course - not just for the great location and wonderful placement, not just for the past few years of great mateship, not just for the interesting places and challenges you have set me, and not just for the walk and 4WDing this weekend ... but all of it.
Thanks for placing this cache, Seaeagle1 (maintained by Fangsoki). Found and left in good condition.

Enjoying a long camping/caching weekend on Moreton with a bunch of fellow cachists including the current CO. We had attempted this one back in 2011 and scored a big DNF then, so it was nice to be able to sign the log finally.
The plan was to make a thorough final search for the original container before replacing the current smaller tube with a nice shiny ammo can. With multiple sets of eyes on the job we were unable to find anything at all. So, finally, out came the nicely camoed can and a new home was found just a few metres from current GZ, with full CO approval we would add.
Formalities complete, it was off to the lookout for some view gazing and group pix.
An awesome spot and an FP from us. TFTC Fangsoki.

Away as a teacher on a school camp and my first time on the Island. Geo hubby was keen for me to take the opportunity to get some caches from a more remote location.
This cache took a lot longer than I was expecting to find, but this was predominantly because of the initial instructions being misleading. The lookout was to to left not right. Introduced another muggle to geocaching and she seemed to be quite interested in learning more. Thanks for your help Camilla.

Made the hike up the mountain and found the cache after a bit of searching. Signed the log and put it back in its place for the next finder. Continued on to the lookout and spent a while taking in the great view.
Great way to start a morning after two days solid paddling to get to Eager Beach. A lovely stroll up a ginormous sand dune. Even in the poor weather I had the view was still worth the walk. Looking forward to heading back up on a clear night, it should be spectacular. Thanks for putting a cache up here, it's all still in good nick.
some hour managed not to put the cache in my GPS, after messing around with my phone for about an hour I finally found the co-ordinates put them in the GPS and we were cooking with gas, 5 minutes and we had the cache in our claws, I have been up here twice before but have always forgotten the GPS. Thanks for the cache

A bit smokey due to the fire on Stradbroke. Took a bit of searching but found it in the end.
It was a very windy and hazy day we picked to make the climb. A hard slog up but awesome views from the top of the island. We couldn't see any other islands or the mainland due to the haze and the ferocious wind was actually a welcome relief to cool us down. The photo hint was very helpful to locate the tube. #378 @ 0945hrs. Tftc Fangsoki
Been across to the island twice a year and finally Found it after a bit of working around the trees & shrubs. What fantastic views from the lookout.
Take II: now to say, yes I have finally found it and put in the correct posting. Lol
Now that was a nice little trip to dig that one out - not to mention the litters of sweat i dropped on thr way up!
Thanks for the great view!

The view is truly amazing. I did a 2' video of a 360 deg. panorama of the waters, surrounding Moreton Island. On a good day you can see the entire island, Glass House Mountains on the mainland and Stradbroke Island South of Moreton.

Did this one with fangsoki and he replaced the cache. We saw a big lizard after signing the cahe hehe.View on top of Mt. Tempest was very nice
I had seen this one had been disabled. I prepared a micro container (lab tube) in case we were unable to find the beast.
Sweet_bee and I parked up the mighty 4WD and hot-footed it up the hill. It was a bit warm in the morning, but nothing too bad. Thankfully, the terrain while constant, wasn't too taxing for us. We made our way into GZ and started the hunt.
We had a good old fossick for it and could not find it. It is possible the beast is there - but it was not coming to hand to me. I placed the replacement cache, noted the co-ordinates, and took some pictures.
Before logging my find, I sought permission from Seaeagle1 and explained what I had done. He graciously allowed me the find.
After some consideration, I have decided to adopt this cache - the micro cache in place will do for the time being - but will look at replacing it with a sturdier, more sizeable item in due course.
TFTC Seaagle1 - a fantastic place for a cache. Is it wrong to "favourite" a cache you are about to take over? Tough!

Tough!
Hi folks,
Sorry to those who DNF. It looks as though the fire may have destroyed the cache. I'm not in a position to maintain at the moment so I'm disabling the listing. If someone would like to take over ownership please let me know.

We drove up as far as we could, then walked up the last bit. We followed the hint and found parts of a broken seat plus various collections of timber but no cache. This one needs to be investigated after a run of DNFs. Great views of the island in the rain.
Had a good look around with the geokids but was unable to locate. I wonder if recent fires have burnt this one out.
What a great view on a perfect winter's day. We had a hunt around but the GPSr was bouncing around a bit however, the 2 iPhones agreed on the same GZ. After about 15mins searching we had to leave to meet the incoming ferry. We'll be back in the near future to hunt this one down. TFTH.
All is good. The cache is still o.k. Just watch your feet in the grass - don't stub your toe on a rusty star picket. Found while on holidays with the family.
On holiday from the UK and having a weekend on the island with family. We all made the trek up the dune and reached the top on a very hot day! Unfortunately I think the cache has gone up in flames with the trees! We all had lots of charcoal on our clothes but still came away without a find
The clue wasn't very helpful but I think I was in the right area.

So disappointing - this is the only cache I didn't try to visit on the holiday to Moreton - but the Geoson just wasn't up for the walk. Oh well - a goal for next time!
We have just returned from four days on Moreton Island and each day, we attempted to make the trek to the cache. Unfortunately, the Park Rangers were conducting burning off in the area and the road was closed. We hope the cache has survived for another day (or the next person going to look takes a replacement container just in case).
Well that was the longest 2 klm walk i have done got there just on sunset it was fantastic and well worth the walk.
We left 2 fluffy chickens and took finger puppet and dolphin stickers.
Looks like a wild animal has chewed the blue plastic very shredded and there was water in the tube.

a shade shelter at the top would have been appreciated. maybe some shoes on a hot day would have helped but what a view.
Thanks! Found after a brief search. Cache getting pretty full now, no room for anything else!
Took nothing, left a golf ball.
Cheers, Shucked

THENANKS were on our annual family camping holiday for the first time as non-muggles! We decided to venture to the top of Tempest, lured by the cache of course. [^] We all made it up to the top easily, including 6 year old Tom who was asleep in the car minutes before we began!
At the top we met a family of muggles who comented on our huge mobile phone. "Ah no, it's a GPS". They asked about it and what we use it for. They were fascinated by the idea of geocaching as they are a very outdoorsie family.
We invited them to join us in the cache hunt! They we flabbergasted when Mumma NANKS uncovered the cache. They were asking about where to buy GPSrs and what the website address is etc.
It was fun to share the excitement.
IN : a bag of marbles
OUT: a 3 pack of bath bombs
Thanks for the cache.
Keep an eye out for three new ones we placed on Moreton this week.

Robert HawMorFord found this cache on his last day of a 3 day camping trip away from Mr & Mrs HawMorFord.
Robert writes: A good cache position. After recently coming here for school camp and getting dropped off at the beach to make our way to the mountain and then climbing it [|)]>>[xx(], coming here a second time and getting out of the car at the base of the mountain seemed surprisingly short.
First went up to the top of the mountain and saw the view, it was amazing!!! [^][^][^]!!!, we went to look for the cache.
A quarter hour later, after much bush bashing we finally found it.
I didn't have any swaps with me today. Thanks to leachs for the cache.

What wonderful views of the island. Cache was not to hard to find after spending time watching whales and we located the path. Great cache and it is in good condition. Logged our visit and TNLN. Thanks for a great cache.
