We parked over for the night and a good time to do this cache?!?!? For some reason it was still in my GPS. Afcourse with a DNF hahaha. Bridge is fixed so maybe another cache some day?!
Like others, I didn't like the look of the swingbridge, so hubby blithely trotted across, grabbed the cache and brought back to me to sign, then trotted back again and re-hid the cache and came back again. All up four crossings of a broken swingbridge.
During our vacation to New Sealand we visited many beautiful places and visited some caches. This one was one of them. The container could be found easily. It was retrieved quickly and logged mugglefree. Without this old Cache we had not visited this place determined.

We'd parked south of the road bridge and walked back in the increasingly heavy rain to get 3 caches. The swing bridge was closed both ends by hazard tape. Not one to take much notice of authority mr j climbed over and found the cache. He hadn't taken the pen and it did appear the hand rail cable was the fault so mrs j risked life and limb. Top cable indeed was Severed on both sides of far end. Had she known ..... Both back safe. NINO TFTC
NZDi and I had planned a two day caching weekend with the original idea to cache from Blenheim to At Arnaud to Kawatiri Junction to Nelson on Friday, then cache around Nelson on Saturday. We decided this would be too ambitious and scaled it back and start from Kawatiri Junction and this was the twenty-fourth find of the day.
Throughout the weekend our logs were signed Kiwimykl + NZDi or KM + ND or variations of the two with or without the date depending on the size of the space available and / or the particular logging requirements of the CO.
The ground around GZ was pretty sodden from a few days of recent rain, so we parked the geomobile somewhere where there was plenty of traction and walked the rest of the way. NZDi is not a fan of swing bridges so stayed behind while I grabbed the cache. The chicken wire grabbed me as I retrieved the cache, drawing blood in the process, (a small price to pay for another smiley face).

Found with Kiwimykl, refer to his log for details.
I don't like swing bridges, so I stayed on this side while Kiwimykl recovered the cache.

Bungelbear and I walked across together. The bridge earned it's namesake, but with almost 200KG crossing, it held up just fine. Quick find, sign, and we were off. Log was rather wet, and we didn't have an extra to replace it, sorry! TFTC!
A plan was hatched to try and grab a number of caches, in excess of 120 if possible. I had already found a load between Renwick and St Arnaud but consulting the map around St Arnaud area showed some semi power trail drive by caching opportunities. Fellow Manawatu cacher the Seagnoid was asked if he was interested and a resounding yes was the answer. So the car was fuelled up at very early o'clock and provisions for munching were also loaded. An 0630 start was the plan and the day came to its conclusion around 2130 after approx. 15 hours of driving and caching.
Outcome was a very successful figure in excess of 130 caches which constitutes best day ever (for both of us), best week, month and year too. Over 500kms driven today and man I feel tired but need to make a start logging the finds, and DNFs. Thanks to all the C Os involved in making our day such a great one. Nearly all caches were well maintained, interesting and accurately plotted. There were bellbirds, beech trees, pies and water, sealed roads, gravel tracks, no sandflies (thankfully), rivers and bridges and creeks and bridges and streams and bridges and much conversation about all things caching
A great day out in good company and all made possible by the efforts of the hiders.
T F T C to all the cache owners. We mostly signed as C/S or Capp/Seag or other combos

[green] Capperz called me up saying he wanted to get his ruby Busy Cacher badge, and try for 120 caches in a day. I said YES PLEASEE!!, as I too had tried this once before but only achieved 103 before night defeated me and Edvern in Auckland last year. A successful day, with over 130 caches found in 14.5 hours and 500km. Also tiring - I went to bed as soon as I got home, despite it not being dark yet (yes, we could have cached some more, but the next objective is 180 caches, and there was no way we would have achieved that!). Alas, I had to leave all the planning to Capperz, and he produced a great little plan, listing all the target caches (and more) with which way to turn at next intersection after a cache - a great way to plan a back road travel.
The day was cool, cloudy, with a little drizzle. Perfect caching weather - the weather kept most of the muggles away from the muggle areas.
Thanks to all the COs for a great day out exploring the back roads of the Marlborough region!
Logs signed as CS or occasionally as CapSeag.

Pretty wary of swing bridges and this one didn't look very safe, so got as far as the step up. Fortunately StreetWalker is not as wimpy as me and he was happy to trot across and find the cache. TFTC.
#7693. The sides on the bridge are a bit on the low side, but it's pretty small as swingbridges go, so no problems getting to the other side, and the cache was quickly found once I got there. TFTC.
12894… Swung on by to locate your cache, that sure is a rickety old bridge now, TFTC.
Out with TRJ at the Tapawera Show, thought I'd grab this one on the way home. Access blocked at the southern end, probably due to logging up the hill. Hard to believe there was once a forestry village here, in fact my parents lived in Norris Gully in the late 40's, before the camp was closed and moved to Golden Downs.
I have been meaning to find this the last dozen times ive gone past but always find myself in a hurry.Job done now
The loud creaking as I ignored the signs was a bit unnerving but otherwise a quick find.
[teal]Last day of our 5 day Easter caching roadtrip. Today we were heading home to Greymouth from Nelson.[/teal]
This was down on our last Easter trip to Nelson so I was happy to see it up and running this time. I am not a big fan of swingbridges at the best of time and this one was old and creaky but that didnt stop us crossing for a quick find. Thanks for the cache, and sorry for the late log

For to long Spooner's has been both to close and to far away for a cache run. When we thought about it and couldn't come up with an excuse this beautiful autumn day was earmarked there and then to remedy the situation. It was a surprise to see a structure never noticed before and after a brief search another smilie was added. TFTC

Until today I was unaware of this swingbridge. As luck would have it we took the right approach so had no need to "ignore" the "bridge closed" tape. Cache was soon found and signed. TFTC.
A quick cache on the way in to the forest just behind the reserve,at 5am found it in the dark ok TFTC
Slight detour on our way to Blenheim looking for caches and some sunshine. Finally we have found both , great place for a cache TFTC.
Parked close by and walked over to the nice little bridge. Walking over this proved very slippery in the wet, so a little caution was used. A minute or two of searching soon had the cache in hand. Contents are nice and dry. TFTC
Nice place, nice to find this bridge unexpectedly. A bit cold and wet but a quick find.
Caching with Sidewaze. A chilly start to the day - on our way to an auction actually and thought that we would "catch up with a few caches" along the way, as you do. Nice and frosty and still some snow around in the shadiest places. Had looked for this one before...nice to have it back in place! TFTC
Looked for this one when it was AWOL - - without success of course A much more fun experience today. - - - And much fun crossing the bridge. - - - A bit slippy in these parts today. Hey thanks for the hide.

Nice area for a break, dogs had a quick leg stretch, nice to see that they are putting the old railway line to use as a walkway. Thanks for the chance to swing on by and collect a smilie

It was dark and raining by the time I swung on by tonight, both were factors which contributed to a bit of an overshoot while looking for the entry from the road. However once found I soon got to the gz and found the cache in the first place that I looked, almost puting my hand in a large pile of barkers eggs that were unseen in the dark. The bridge was quite slippery in the wet. TFTC - 69 of 75
Planning trip home from nelson to CHCh later in week - and yes GC'ing on the agenda. But wow, this one seems familiar - been there earlier in the year and found easily over the rickety one.
Cool spot have driven many times and never even knew there was a bridge here!! TFTC
The bridge seemed a bit shaky. Didn't think it was going to hold my weight. Got across and signed log. Cheers for the cache
Linked up with TreMichLan for the "Golden Downs Valley Triangle" this afternoon. TFTC
What a great spot to stop, and a toilet there as well. I am surprised there aren't more visitors. Thanks for bringing us here. Unfortunately there is no sign and you are past the entrance to the reserve before you see it. We backtracked and are pleased we did. TFTC
Nice stop and with the swing bridge to where the railroad had been, this was also an historic place. I was greatful for the portaloo nearby. Easy find. SLTN- but left a swap. TFTC
Another spot I'd always just driven by. Now that I know there is a walk there, I'll make a point to stop and do it. TFTC.
We did this one in the dark with torchs. Makes for an interesting crossing - uneven surface underfoot in the dark... bit wobbly. hillbilly hicks in tow. swaps were made. TFTC
Swing bridges and me go together like kids and trampolines! Nice to find this one
and of course integersmirk made the bridge swing a lot as I was on it! Lovely spot. TFTC
first time looking for this one not very successfull wasnt on the gps that we had borrowed but this time it was love the swing tftc
A slight navigation ooops on this one and went for a drive on trig road. Was a great view down onto the cache site so it was find a place to turn around and head to the cache. Got to the correct area and had a lovely walk across the bridge and then lost reception!! After a bit of mucking around it was all worked out by my good lady niteowlnz.
Even small swing bridges are not my favourite lol I do do them but hesitantly lol especially with Stretch0 being so helpful at showing howmuch the bridge will swing or bounce !!! he was reasonably well behaved to day so as a reward I found the cache for him!!!! he couldnt resist the travel bugs either is a very nice spot that I wouldnt mind revisiting in summer thanks for the cache
Jr taybee has this own account how am logging this old find under his new Username (Jr taybee) was log as part of taybee team

What a great little reserve. There are few of these structures around now, I hope it is maintained for the future. TNLN TFTC
