Hi everyone,
I've moved out of the area and as a result it's difficult to get in to maintain it. It's time the area was freed up for someone else to put their own cache in.
Thanks to everyone who found the cache and I'm happy to have been able to facilitate that part of the caching journey.
Best of luck and happy caching,
Dave

#2185 I was on the track until the last 150 metres. 3rd find from 4 on this sunny afternoon. Im on my way to the summit. Cache is a bad shape. Log book is moldy. Please see photo CO and give some TLC. TFBMH dave09.
Container is shattered beyond repair, and log is soggy and black with mould. The whole thing needs replacing. Sorry!
We left The Woofer at home today (we've picked enough grass seeds out of her fur lately!) and headed out to grab a bunch of caches that have been staring us in the face for a while. We found 11 from 11 (over 11km!!), and had a great walk along the train tracks, saw some awesome views, dodged a snake, and left goodies behind wherever possible.
We made our way here from a nearby cache, bashed our way down and made a quick find. Disappointingly, the cache container is shattered, and although it looks like someone has tried to save the contents by using multiple ziplock bags, the bags are filled with holes and the logbook is completely black with mould. We managed to sign the book anyway, but this one is going to need a new container and log. TFTC!

This cache is typical of why I love cacheing - bringing me out to a location I may never have otherwise visited. A very nice spot on the hillside with views west. A nice morning exploring the hills behind the pines with Wolfhunter97 and Rhino3004. On our way up to Tralee tops, thought we would swing by here. TFTC
Found it. Cache container needs replacing. Lovely early morning walk beautiful views too. TFTC
#97 Great Cache located in the local bushland. Beautiful Wensdy afternoon searching through some interesting bush. Cheers
Another one done. Yay! I found this as part of a streak I am working on - 60 days today. The first month wasn't so bad but now it's getting a little more challenging to make sure I don't miss a day. I did this one at night to mark the occassion with something out of the ordinary.
Thanks go to dave09 for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated. I enjoyed finding this one. Going off-trail at night was interesting and fun, and a little challenging to find with the headlamp's 'tunnel vision', but I got it in the end. This cache was another "Found it" for me.
I enjoy the challenge of the cache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hidden gem. My new GPS is working great and it has really improved my geocaching experience. TFTC! Cheers. [Blue]Jump Pilot[/Blue]

Cache container is disintegrating. Lid section has come away. Otherwise contents still OK for now. TFTC.
I concur with Darksidedan's comments. I also put all the contents in a new ziplock bag.
Note the gum tree just uphill from the cache. It has grown around a large fallen branch embedding it in its trunk.

Found this one quickly after a long hike. The container is in urgent need of replacement. The whole top of the container has broken off. The logbook was a little damp but I have double bagged it to protect it.
This little bush bash deserves some extra stars for terrain as I constantly had to change direction due to spiders. This year there is so many more spiders than usual. Hasn't been like that for near 10 years. Found cache, no gems only rocks left. TFTC dave09.
Spent the day with the missus around Tralee and southern Hume locating geocaches. Walked about 15 kilometres and found about 20 caches. TFTCs.
Enjoyed getting off the beaten track to find this one - and the views were worth it too. The cache was in poor condition though. I think I should carry a replacement container and ziplock bag for cases such as this.
Nice diversion after tackling the tops. Geonephew did a great job on the climb. TFTC
See my previous log. The container is in half and wet, so it needs replacing...
Found on this lovely morning. Parked down at the underpass at Gilmore and then took the paths near the railway line. We haven't been caching here for years, so it was nice to revisit it. After some bush bashing and some really steep climbing, we reached GZ for a reasonably quick find. The view is amazing from up here. But the container is broken in half, full of water and needs replacing. TNLNSL. TFTC dave09!
Found with Eziweb. Took us somewhere we would never think of visiting. Peaceful place in the woods. TFTC.
There are caches in the world where one wonders why here and how did someone find
this location? This was one of them, with a tough walk from the track. I had completed all 11
other caches in this area before attempting this one and Tralee tops. Challenging:-)
Thanks to Minifig-ant for a new dry log. The container needs some TLC.

Container cracked and full of water. Log book soaked, did my best to dry it out but I think its a lost cause. Replaced the log with a spare notepad and ziplock. TFTC!
We were the first to sign the log this year. The cache was uncovered and in full view, but we left it covered. The plastic container is breaking up and needs replacement. TFTC.
Did this one and Tralee tops in one go. Good fun but dont do it in 33 degree heat like i did ! TFTC
Took the direct route from the railway... Nice climb up to GZ. Number 10 for the morning SL TFTC
Had to grab this one on the way down after finding the new TE cache further up. Some more great views and decided to drop a TB we have been holding on to. Would never have come up here if it wasn't for Geocaching. Thanks dave09 for the cache.
Out for a walk with the dogs and after a long haul we made it to the cache. Excellent views. Thanks for the effort placing this one. Cheers
Thought why not as I was doing a few in the area. Surely its not all the way up there. The gullies were full of running water after all the rain and I thought that at one point I was going to give Bear Grilles a run with a tree over one of these small creeks. In the end I chose a different route (for my safety). Great views and Im still debating if it was worth it. My calf muscles are anyway. TFTC # 46

Found @ 1825 after taking the direct route - straight up! A long struggle to GZ, but the view made it worthwhile, with the (very) late afternoon sun casting beams through the haze. No gems to trade, but maybe a pearl of wisdom to drop - find an easier route than I did! TN, left a pathtag, SL-TFTC.

Great views, worth the walk.
Took a small tile and tiger eye.
Left a couple of polished Jade pieces.
Advise to park vehicle at the suggested location for 'Quincunx' jump a couple of fences. Ignoring all " private property" signings. Then a steady climb along the road until you can head directly West with only about 200m of scrub.
Replaced plastic zip bag.

Took the long way for this following the fire trail to the top of the ridge and down to the spot.
Nice view of tuggers lights as it was dark by the time I arrived.

Great day for walking and I took the long way round for this. Having parked up near Quincunx I thought it would make a reasonable approach but as I got to the fence-line from the northern side I was greeted with all sorts of "Keep Out" "Do Not Trespass" type signs. Damn....so I wandered down to the suggested trailhead and entered from the southern end instead. No sign of anyone whilst I was about nor any further signage.
The views from GZ are definitely worthwhile and it was nice to sit and admire them peacefully. From there it had been my intention to continue south as far as Melrose Monks however after only a short further sojourn I realised I had probably left myself far too little daylight hours for such a walk. Never mind - can always get that another (longer) day. TFTC - it really was a little gem.

2nd today and I walked from fadden pines to this one. Found the trail head and entered the area from there. Lost the track and then went bush across a fence and up onto a old road. Followed that until my arrow went that i had to get off. A small stroll on animal tracks then to gz. Where I made a easy find. Wow it is a hidden gem isnt it. Nice TFTC
Gotta say that this was a great walk through the bush and a nice invigorating climb. What a great spot with great views. Just how did you find this spot Dave09, but thank you for taking us there. TFTC.
Oh I found another hill. Thought we had climbed them all but no! The prize was the magnificant view. Made it all worthwhile. TNLN TFTC
Reperio at 1635. Having found a few of the nearby rail caches, I was debating whether I had time to do this one and others before it got dark. Of course I made time by simply making a beeline straight to it from 'Forked' and pretty much ran all the way up the hill. Enjoyed a breather at the top before walking around in circles until the cache was found. On the way back down, noticed some camp chairs and a few other bits and pieces of a recent camp of sorts. Weird.
Gratias.

Having done a few of the nearby rail series it was time to leave the tracks and head up and up and up.
Some nice views presented themselves along the way.
Thanks

This one seemed to take ages- bits of track here and there- a good track, a rough track, a bad track. After finding the cache and the views, made a beeline back to the railway- saw a bit of a shanty camp back down near the railway which we avoided. TFTC!
Was going to do this today but while looking for a place to cross the fence, spotted the big freshly painted - Private Property - Trepasses will be prosecuted sign so I didn't.
On my cache walk along the railway line. Headed straight up through the bush, although did find a surprising number of rough dirt roads heading in the right general direction.
Nice views from GZ. Found the cache easily. Thanks.

Have been looking to get this cache for a while. So with the weather being conducive to caching a short detour from our Sunday assault on BigON's caches. Off we went to get this one.

3 of 14 caches today encompassing the ONLINE series and a few others. The first issue for this one was working out how to get across the railroad tracks since the cutting was quite deep at this point. Got across and managed to get the dog across, then had a fence to cross. Finally I was one the right trail and started to make my way up the hill. I knew the cache was off the track and at one point I was 150 metres away and decited to strike off into the bush. After a while I decided that if I was going to have to climb I'd prefer to do it on the track. After I got some more height I was now 190 metres away. Plan A was probably better. Anyway got to GZ eventually and remembered that I forgot my gem to swap, oh well. Tied the dog to a log and then found the cache. Plenty of local-looking quartz in there. Signed then log and re-hid it before returning to the ONLINE series.

Perhaps not the best choice for ones first Geocache adventure, but found it after an hours hiking with the my quadruped friend, Asher. It was quite the journey as I wanted to stick to as many trails as possible until I found it to avoid getting lost in some manner. Brought along a couple of gemstones to contribute, swapped a Smokey Quartz fang with the blue lace agate geode =) Wrote in the little log, and then put it back and headed home. Ash learnt a lot, like us bipeds not being quite as stable as he and that he shouldn't pull so hard! I think I quite like this hobby, now to rope in some friends!
It was a well placed cache, and a lot of fun to find, looking forward to next time!

One of those 'would never have come up here if it wasn't for this crazy pastime' type caches.
Geokids thought the going a bit tough as we made a bee line for the gz. Then noticed the fire trail nearby...bugger !
No gems to swap but happy to take the GC

Never would have thought to walk up here if there had been no cache to find, so thanks for sending me up here, well worth the view.
After a zig zaggy walk up the hill following the compass found the cache with dogs in tow. Beautiful views. and nice seat.

A fantastic area I have not been in before. I found the journey in a fun challege to follow contours and go higher than needed along the way. The actual GZ was at a good clear location on the shoulder of a hill, giving great views to south Canberra through the afternoon haze. Thanks.

This has been on the radar for a while
So we went for it mountain goat style
Straight up the hill
We went for the kill
And figured we saved 'bout a mile.
Fraggles and I had eyed this off every trip past, and thought that it was ours this afternoon. We got to a gully, and thought surely 90 metres couldn't be all the way up there. Guess we were proven wrong. Great view from GZ! This hill never seemed to end! We enjoyed checking out some of the more polished gems in the cache... TFTC

Today i have grazed my back, bumped my head 3 times in total and coming back from this cache, what do i do? roll my ankle.. Other than my ability of getting myself injured, I had fun getting this cache. Must say it was a bit longer and higher then i really felt like doing at the time but the view, it was all worth it. Sat here for abit with Wasptor, caught our breath and just took it all in. TFTC!
#220 - from the pine forests leading to Melrose High, to the eucalypts on the trek to A Little Gem. Both very pleasant.
We enjoyed the views at GZ while recovering from the climb.
TNLNSL . Thanks.

Got to leave work at a reasonable time today so decided to take the dogs for a walk, I think we got more than we bargained for! I don't know if I took the wrong way but it was a bit of a climb from where we parked but eventually found a road that wound around the hill. I was thinking the cache would be in a different spot but the GZ is great, with really nice views of the surrounding area.
Thanks dave09 for the cache and the chance to explore the area! I even did a bit of research for a new cache or two while I was here...

A mid Saturday morning walk through the bush had me at GZ 35 minutes after leaving the car.
Sat and look around for a while before heading back down and on to another nearby cache to round of the morning.
The contents of the cache were interesting, hence the name no doubt.
TNLN & TFTC. Couple of photos attached to show the view.

Wow, we feel so fit now after making it up there. Saw a big fluffy wallaby. Found it right on sunset which was cutting it a bit fine, but we did make it back to the car just before dark.
Had been a bit worried about the car as there was a wrecked car and a lot of broken glass around our starting point. Recommend investing some time in finding a safe car park in the neighbourhood at the back, not on the main road or in the horse area!
Really enjoyed it though, it was worth the climb. Bring water bottle and wear hiking shoes and layers. Our first/second find.

Headed straight east from highway, quite a rugged climb, bit ambitious, esp with a 10, 6 & 4 yr old, not recommended, (had to carry more than the gps) but they loved it, & want to go again tomorrow!
T: ring (fits the 4 yr old), quarter, wishstone, opals, & Big Jimmy TB as he has been idle for 3 months and he says he likes to be near water...will try to drop him off soon so he can get home.
L: glazed tile & 2 cut & polished gemstones.

First day of spring and an early display of wildflowers was pleasant as we walked up. We have intended to do this for such a long time because it is fairly close to home. Nice walk, and an easy find. Parked by the houses and walked alone the train tracks, my son thought it was like cowboys robbing the trains. Then we went straight up. This was the last cache out of four I wanted to do this afternoon after work, and I had only two hours of light to get them all done.
Used 45 minutes doing "Downed but not out" and "Wanniassa Wander" and getting myself over to "Farrer Fringe"
Then had a bit longer than anticipated doing that one as it is very well disguised. So basically had just a whisker under an hour of light left to do this one with.
Drove well into the bush looking for the shortest possible sprint, which freaked out one jogger who thought I was backing up to attack her when I found I'd gotten to the end of the line (well actually to the start of the line - the railway line).
Parked there with a 580 metre sprint to be done to reach the cache, and took great pains to waypoint the car. Creating multiple waypoints for it, after inaccurately recording a waypoint for the car earlier in the afternoon, that had the potential to put me a very long way from where the car was had I trusted the GPS. With the potential to be looking for the car hidden in the bush, in darkness or fading light at the end of this cache, this was one waypoint I had to get right.
Well, after climbing that hill, all I can say is, "Flamin heck you must be a sadistic person to put a cache up this hill". 580 metres is probably measured as if the earth was a flat surface too, so it's probably a lot further actual distance, and talk about STEEP. The last bit was very hard going after rushing through the other 3 caches.
Got back down with about 15 minutes of really good light left, and probably half an hour of useable light. So the torch I carried up and back was wasted, but better safe than sorry.
Had no jewels on me, so TNLN and of course SL (who doesn't sign the log? It seems superflous to say you signed it)
And thanks for the torture session.
I have a medical for work tomorrow, and I'll be so stiff and sore after these four sprinted caches, that I'll walk in to the medical like a 140 year old, and probably fail it.
But thanks for the cache, it sure took me to parts of the town I would never have gone otherwise (and won't ever likely go again)

Ms Utta and I took in this one on our regular Sunday walk somewhere. Lovely view but our approach was from the creek immediately below the cache so it was rather hard going for a bit there. Lucky it was a cool morning.
We had nothing in theme to leave - so just logged it and continued.
Thanks for an interesting cache.

Like another I had intended to approach via the tracks to the east from Melrose High, but found the 'private property' gate. So followed the train tracks around till I was within about 500m of the cache and headed straight up. Interesting area. The view was worth it. Found the cache right next to where I sat to catch my breath. Well worth the effort.
This one was fun! I had decided to ride up from the "Melrose High" side to this little fella, however the gate was clearly marked "Private Property", headed around along the railway, stashed the bike in some bush, marked the spot, and headed off up the hill, down the gully and up the hill again! Another lovely spot and number three for the morning! MacArthurs Park is next!
Thanks to Dave09 for the cache. T: Pterodactyl Fred TB L: Nothing, but shall return with gifts to bestow!
PS: Fred has been dropped in MacArthurs Park, but I forgot to write down the tracking number, will log when the owner lets me know.

Dropped off an opal (light coloured). Picked up travel bug 523477 (the yellow volkwagon). Nice view from the cache location, and a nice walk.
Just did a bit of cache maintenance, and dropped off the two TBs. Still quite enjoyed the view, its very nice in the late afternoon. Thanks for the swaps everyone - the cache is coming along quite nicley.
Will be dropping off two TBs soon and heading up for some cache maintenance. If anyone has any suggestions let me know soon...

Found a little while ago as a first cache, but took time to register! awesome views, took a little effort - time to get fit
The date is an estimate as I forgot to log this one. Yes what a little gem this one is! Lost the track after 100m and hoofed it cross country which turned out to be much faster! Left an opal and peridot. Took Nil. ZZ
After a fairly steep haul the cache spot is ideal. Sat on a chair shaped rock dripping with moisture and catching braeth. When I looked up there was the magnificient view that makes it all worthwhile. TNLN. No.6 and last for the morning.

What a fun adventure that was, it had it all, speed, MUD, slush, rain, trains, sunshine, a great time.
I had the afternoon off, so I thought it was time I went for this cache as it is quite near home. Was approaching the railway line from the highway – HUH – WHAT THE ??!?!?!?! - A TRAIN – scared the living daylights out of me – a diesel pulling a few steel passenger carriages coming from the south! A train at 1:45 pm on Tuesday afternoon! I was not expecting that. Didn’t have time to get the camera out, it was passing through a cutting and then went round a bend.
Anyway, onwards I progressed up the graded fire trail. Easy riding on the MTB, steep, but easy. I rode all the way to the top of the hill, looping around to the top behind the cache, then dropped down to the cache, slipping and sliding on the wet mossy rocks to the cache. (I walked this bit). I was by now soaked from perspiration, wet vegetation and rain. Found the cache easily, took a gemstone, left a pewter emu, then sat down in the warm sun and dried off while I admired the views.
A great spot. Well done.
Then, back on the bike and I followed the contour lines back to the track, then onwards and upwards I went to the very top, where the phone towers are. Rode all the way. I was admiring the views over Hume when I suddenly realised, oh-oh. Coming in from the SE was a very dark cloud, oops too late, took a few photos of the double rainbow and views, then back onto the MTB and one FANTASTIC COOOEEEEEE flying down the fire trail in the MUD, slush, erosion ruts, little rivers across the track, rain and mud flying up off the tyres and hit a top speed of 49.5km/hr.
Got back to the railway line definitely NOT clean nor dry.
LOVED IT – Coooeeeeeee.

Great cache, ta. Reminscent of "third time lucky" for some reason. T:Spider TB, L:amber gem (what else?)
No hills and gullies for me... - Followed the fire trail, and it was a gentle climb all the way. Then, looped around behind the cache to avoid the last gully. Nice walk, nice views from the cache. Nice easy find. Took nothing, left a polished stone. Swapped travel bugs. Thanks dave09 for the cache!
Dave09 sure made a challenging cache for his first - up & down & up & down & up.....
Great views along the way, but I would suggest future cachers track to the left for a while, parallel to the hwy, before crossing the train line. Biggles303 & I found a much easier way back following a horse trail for much of the way. TNLN TFTC.
PS I just realised that this cache is actually located in NSW, even though I parked my car in the ACT, so this is officially my 1st NSW cache. I had previously thought Jerry's View was my first, but I visited there after this one.

Wow, what a walk to find this one! Up hill, down dale and I lost track of how many tracks and gullies were crossed! Maybe there is a more direct route to get there. Oh well, T: greeny white rock and L: diamond necklace. The walk back was interesting, ended up doing a big loop to get back to the car. Maybe I should get familiar with the tracking function on the Garmin so that I can find my way back ....hmmm.
Early morning visit 06:45AM for a FTF. Walkable distance from my place. Took a while to locate due to the poor light at that time. Splendid view down the valley watching the sun move across the hill tops, and all the street lights start to shut down.
Anyhow swapped a purple crystal rock for an old gem bracelet, then off home to thaw out the ears, brrr.
Thanks for the cache.
