Logs
As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness. If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the page and post a note every month or so to keep everyone up to date.

After contacting the relevant people in charge of allowing access to Mount Arthur...I eventually spoke to the General Manager who informed me that they no longer allow anyone of the public on site other than contractors who directly need access to the site. Even if the odd few geocachers were able to gain entry I think the larger portion of the community won't be able to...and so this one needs to be retired.
As I mentioned in my last log, you can still get access. I'm currently working with Mt Arthur Coal to get inducted to be able to complete this cache.
The contact number in my DNF still stands.

Can no longer access the area + no response from co to previous posts... I wasted valuable caching time attempting to get to gz then read the previous logs that confirmed I couldn't access gz
I had been eyeing this one off during my monthly visits to Muswellbrook so after a lousy week I thought I'd regain some sanity and de-stress with a nice morning walk. I was up early and got to Muswellbrook before anything much was happening. I got onto Edderton Road and went to pull into the road and was greeted by a locked gate. It stated that I needed to contact Mount Arthur Coal for access. Oh well I tried my luck and rang the number. After being bounced around for a bit I eventually found out that you can still gain access to the cache but need to tee up a key first. Future finders should ring 65424800 to get access.
I'll have a go next time I'm up that way.

Approaching the track off Edderton Rd and saw a gate in our way. Signs say 'Authorised Persons Only' and 'This gate is under constant video surveillance.'
Could not find this one cause we couldn't access it. This needs to be looked at.

Can you believe Mt Arthur Coal has put a locked gate accross the road which says KEEP OUT!
Really dissapointed not to get this one as it's a great lookout.

Drove the territory all but last 500 metres. A 4wd would do it easily all the way to the top
Fantastic location [^]
Great views form on high in almost every direction. Definately a highliht cache of my Hunter Valley visit so far. Thanks for taking me there.
Took lots of pictures and a geocoin to move it along.
Cheers & TFTC

needed a break today, so made my way down to find this one.
didn't think I'd make it up to the summit in my falcon ute, but took it carefully and made it ok.
the signs worried me at the start but it is a public road.
quite high up here, but really worth the visit.
I would never have known about this great spot if it wasn't for geocaching.
clue didn't help much until I broadened my search.

Found it on closer look at GZ. A couple of workers had accidently found it also while bowling rocks down the mountain side. VERY DANGEROUS. But they read all the instructions and wrote a note in the log book saying it could be a good thing to get involved in, added a couple of items to the cache and replaced it as found. Plenty of grey kangaroos on the way up and plenty of wallabies on the mountain. I have not been up there since late 1980's and OH BOY things have changed.
19:40 Cache check. All in great condition still Great sunset up here. Awaits more finders
This turned out to be a very interesting diversion from the main roads
The access road was in reasonable condition possibly due to some drilling rigs that have been set up on the mine property.
But the last kilometre up to the summit was still probably not something you should try in the family sedan
On the summit I met some maintenance workers (I always do in these out of the way places).
So I wandered around taking some photos before sneaking up to GZ from a different direction out of sight.
The cache is safe and sound in its protective jacket
TFTC and for taking me up this hill today. No bottomless pits, just coal pits visible today.

What a lovely day for a walk up mount Arthur! Found the cache no worries. Took woopie cushion and left 1952 Kangaroo Penny.
To answer one of the questions in the notebook in the log, the pointy mountain in the distance near Denman / Sandy Hollow is Mount Dangar.

i am working/living in singleton and took a drive after work 1 afternoon got to GZ no worries but i didnt have the hint with me whilst i looked under every rock for about 30 min i could have saved myself alot of effort by just taking the correct information with me in the first place. i will retry this 1 again soon
Apologies for the confusion Subydazz. GPS wanted me to turn were there were gates blocking the first time I attempted. Obviously not the right access trail because when we entered the trailhead co-ords we were on our way up the mountain. Great scenic drive up with alot of the native inhabitants (galah's, cockatoo's, kangaroo's, wallabies and rabbit's) noticed along the way. Quite funny when our five yr old refered to the roo's as Kanga muggles Great veiw at the top. Quite an easy find by reading the hint. Note to others - be carful if searching for the cache after rain or when early morning dew has fallen, the rocks can be very slippery.
Took - MAC Yoyo & Lonesome TB(thought he'd hung around for long enough)
Left - Polarity Gift & Stickers

Had to check out access to this cache this morning after work. Not sure where you were looking lilla07? - Definitely no big gates blocking access to the track or cache. Cache is in place and in good condition. Check you have the right co-ordinates for the trail-head. A Travel Bug patiently awaits the next finder..
I will have to log a DNF as the track off Edderton Rd has two dirty big gates blocking it that are locked. Well....I'm sure it's the right road. I have noticed the signpost with the S & E co-ords before but it is gone and a sign with other numbers has replaced it....I'm sure??? Maybe worth a check to be sure SUBYDAZZ.

Found it. This was second try at geocaching. Now I think we are hooked. Great view of the local minning area lucky its was a nice day. I would not attempt this cache in the rain.
Thanks for the fun.

Finally got around to making the arduous journey from Scone to find this cache. Just bought a new 4wd so the cache looked like the perfect excuse to play with it. The track up the mountain wasnt too bad, appears to have been graded recently. The views from the top were excellent thought the close proximity to the towers was a little daunting. Decided to take the travel bug DK TRAVELLER #2. Took nothing else and had nothing to leave.
Just a cache check and dropped off two travel bugs (to keep each other from getting lonely - not an oft' visited cache). All is OK, the access road has deteriorated somewhat, so be careful of the rocks along it. Great view over the misty Upper Hunter early of a morning here
Great place for a cache. Gives a real birds eye view of a very big hole in the ground.
1st of 11 for the day.
The road in shore is rough, but well worth the trip.

Well worth the careful drive up the hill. Interesting hide in an area where there were a lot of choices.
Workers at the towers were wondering what I was up to. Had my excuse worked out. "Checking the accuracy of the Trig so I could update the Geo web site and getting some local fauna & flora photos as location shots" Had the camera in hand. They didn't aske me though!
