Got ripped and hadn't read previous logs so didnt take a spare in with me. Wasn't going back again esp as rain started
Spen 1/2hr trying to get to the cache, finally achieved but couldn’t not find. Lucky I was kitted up with gloves, leggings & a helmet as I detoured from the rail trail - lovely cemetery. I’ll need to try another cache to log my ‘Hyde’ travels
Very well kept cemetery apart from the Hawthorn bush

This was a lovely well kept cemetery but there was no way we could reach GZ without ripping our clothes to shreds. There were people in the nearby house and someone with horses was close by so we didn't feel it was appropriate to go outside the grounds to try and reach GZ. The area is so overgrown and the hawthorn bushes are lethal so unfortunately this is a cache which will have to remain unfound
For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 6 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more. I had shifted my snail shell inland to Ranfurly the other day.
Initially I thought that this one was on the Rail Trail until I zoomed in a bit and found it was still 170m away. Once I got to the GZ I was wondering how I was going to get to the cache. I finally figured out a way not strictly legal but was successful with a smilie.
Cheers for the cache

The cache lid has a hole about the size of an old 50c piece which lets water in. Tipped out the water but sorry didn't have any tape with me.
Out and about on an other caching trip to get to 3000 finds before the end of the year. Another nice cemetery cache.the ground cover here was very think and made it hard to find but got there in the end and on to the next one. TFTC
My 3rd cemetery visit within 24 hours. This one took a bit of time to work out a sensible approach to GZ.
In Middlemarch on a caching weekend with BCD. After visiting Sutton Salt Lake it was time to find a few more in the area before heading home. A bit overgrown and spotted a loose bit of fencing along the way so I'd be careful if finding in the dark. TFTC
Last minute road trip to middlemarch with kjr.
Heading home now so just a few more to go all peaceful here today tftc

Riding the rail trail and did a bike detour down to this one. Hadn't been able to find this one when here in 2012 as I didn't have a hint with me. The whole area is quite overgrown but the coordinates were spot on and the hint worked for a quick grab. Very pleased to finally claim this one, it's such a historic old cemetery, and a long-standing cache. A steep push back up the hill (bike with two panniers on) but done with a satisfied smile. Thanks Bitsprayer.
I'm down in Otago to cycle the Otago Rail Trail over a relaxed 5 day period and took the opportunity to find a few geocaches along the way. Day 4 was from Ranfurly to Hyde and I left the trail and headed down to the cemetery to find this one. Bit of a battle through the weeds to get to GZ, but the cache was quickly found. TFTC!
Always like visiting cemeteries. Once my phone gps settled I was at the right place.
Decided to head off to the St Bathans market day so now on way home caching as we go Fabulous view. TFTC
TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Took advantage of the long weekend and good weather to head to The Strath Taieri for some caching and camping. Hoping to get to #50
Great little cemetery

Very prickly especially when approaching this cache from the wrong direction. TFTC
Checked into the Otago central hotel, and then set off to find all the local caches. Quick find TFTC
Plenty of sheep at the cemetery today, but they soon left GZ as we approached. Then it was on with the hunt and a surprisingly quick find. It could have taken a lot longer. Found with debsnz
Didn't want to poke around and displace too many stones in the rock wall, even if it is covered in vines and crumbling. Luckily we didn't need to, it was quickly found. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
The end of the day's ride and still time to drop down here for a cache, thanks Bitsprayer.
What a quiet and out of the way place! Quick and easy find. Took something and left a few micro cache containers. TFTC.

Another cemetery hide in a secluded spot. Tempted to start dismantling the stone wall in search of the cache but a clue in others logs narrowed the search.
Staying at Hyde while biking the rail trail, so biked out to this one in the evening. Got there and realised that I did not have the hint with me. Searched likely spots but gave up - just too many rocks in this wall! It was worth the visit though.
Always the last rock you look under. Time was against me, had a battery about to go flat and I missed the hide on the first pass. Found it by chance as I climbed back over the wall to return to the car in defeat. Stoked. TFTC.
Took us 20 mins and Sleeping Beauty had gone back to sleep after 10 months since last find. TFTC
I like how the old graves are sheltered but the new ones not. Those old timers where smart.
I fancied a walk but as I saw that it were 2 km to the cemetery I decided to get on my bike again. The cache was Sleeping Beauty and me, it's brave prince.
Found the cache easily enough but the fence bites. I tried to jump the fence and ended up putting a very big hole in my leg.... at least i know i have good red blood. TFTC... i think.
Remembered rough location of this from last Rail Trail ride. This time GPS was dead, but written clues made for an easy find. TFTC
An interesting spot, a large number of youmg men from the district last there lives in the wars, the impact on a small area like this must have been huge.

Another quick find on our tour of the area. Seems like a very out of the way place for a cemetery.
Another little detour off the rail trail. Good to get a few hills in. We were tempted to ride straight down the paddock but thought the farmer might be watching so went round the road.
Oops. I found this cache when out caching with Sidewaze but somehow missed logging it. Apologies for being a little late . TFTC .
#170 We spent a most interesting 10 minutes or so here. Didn't feel the need to shut the gate behind us when we arrived, but then suddenly became aware of sheep arriving from nowhere!!! Thankfully raced them to the gate. - - - There was NO grass in the cemetery, but that was more than outside it!!!!
What sadness some people experienced in their lives! We spent some time pondering on their lot. Thanks for bringing us to another of those places we never would have visited in pre-caching days.

Visited Central Otago to take part in NZ Orienteering Champs, ride the Rail Trail and enjoy this beautiful area including many sites around Queenstown. We (Roel, Di and Nigel) enjoyed the trip with beautiful weather (some morning frosts!) This was our 18th cache on the trail. The cemetery looks very nice and peaceful and it was a good ride down and back up again. Thanks a lot.

Departed the Rail Trail early and flew down the hill to the cemetary. Didn't find it immediately and had to duck down a couple of times as other riders went past. Got mobbed but sand flies in the process.

Another old cemetery. Left a wee blue car. Had to go into the paddock to investigate the huge puffballs, see my photo! TFTC
TFTC TNLN Nice ride a little further on from overnight stop at Hyde Hotel. Great stop, great food.
We met some other people in this cemetary who I thought were geocachers and they assumed that I was the Farmer. It led to an interesting conversation. Turns out they'd walked over from the rail trail and were spending the night in Hyde.
Found with difficulty as GPSr was not playing ball on this one at all, had me quite a few metres off the mark. Finally found as I was about to give up, "well, I may as well look there as well", and bingo! there it was.
Nice hide, TFTC

What a clever placement, quite deceiving but thanks to strategic placement of my GPS Unit I found it.
Thanks
Thanks
We weren't too happy about searching here as we were concerned it might be overlooked by the nearby farmhouse, but maybe they know about the cache. Picked up the Unite for Diabetes TB to move on. SL. TFTC.
Also logging in and out our England Geocoin.

Found by Adam Clayton, getting keen on playing with a GPS. Found correct area, looked a bit, had lunch, looked a bit more. Lots of potential hiding places! We had to use the clue- and I would say it's more like 2 and a bit z sebz cbfg. Picked up Footloose Travel Bug, who came for a short bike on the Rail Trail with us. We highly recommend the Tiroiti swimming hole at S 45 14.678' E 170 16.529'. It's just 2 km up the rail trail from Tiroiti viaduct.
