Ahhh 2nd DNF in a row I tried hunting on the way up and the way back but no luck at all this may be cache Blindness though
Mum found this one! A great spot for viewing, and a very stunning day. The cache is saturated, the new log sheet added by IereHay is nice and dry in the double bag - so I signed below their name.
Logbook was complete sodden so I didn’t attempt to use it. I added a sheet of waterproof paper double-bagged and signed that instead. I couldn’t find the cache on my way up the hill this morning but quickly located it on my return this afternoon. My second last cache on an in and out trip up Leith Saddle to Swampy and Rollinsons
A quick find once at GZ. Log saturated through so an indent of a log was made with the pen on hand. TFTC
Great view from here. It's been some time since the cache last saw the light of day - dried it out as best as I could.
Can’t beat dunedin on a good day relatively quick find.. was a bit worried at first that it was a rat trap but thankfully just the container!
The most difficult part about this cache was trying to figure out what the hint was getting at. I think I might have found it quicker without the hint
Good walk on the steep side rewarded by a hunt for a cache. Took a while to work out the hint, and the cache was well hidden!
This took a while to track down because I wasn't 100% sure where the hint was suggesting to look but in the end I figured it out. Thanks
With whiskasnz on a short tramp finding the caches up here. Arrived at the lookout to find a couple of young trampers who had passed us earlier. They heard us mention caching and next thing you know they are helping us look for the cache too. Turned out they were cachers as well! They get the credit for finding this one. TFTC
heading back down to Dunedin to catch up with KJR seems like only yesterday I was there ( oh it was ) work was cancelled for the week so good opportunity to grab a few more southern caches . was meeting up with K so had a little time to grab a couple on my way down
had time to spare before K had to be back for J&R so a quick walk up the hill was in order nice quick find once at GZ

Impromptu afternoon off work = impromptu geocaching expedition! Met up with BCD and headed to Waitati to tick a few more off in the area. A nice walk with an even nicer view at GZ. Nice quick find once there. TFTC
A nice fun hike up the Leith Saddle Track with friends (who have a geocaching account but not used it in a while so signed as family name).
During our visit of some friend s me and katkat82 climbed up that hill. We saw only clouds and decided not to go to the end but I'm sure the walk is worth it during a nice day!

It was time for a bit of a walk initially to the Swampy Spur transmitter to see how I would manage the walk as it has been quite a while since I have done any sort of exercise. I'm blaming the previous two weeks of lousy weather.
It was nice to have a rest after the steady huffing and puffing for 1.5km. Great views from here.
Cheers for the cache.

Had some useful assistance from others in my group. It would have helped if I had remembered to bring my notes. TFTC.
Sorry for the very late log..always too busy (for me it is definitely not about the numbers )
Found this with swollibman after our silver peaks adventure. At least we were able to find this one..so the way up wasn't totally useless (for geocaching) TFTC!

We attempted to head up to the Silver Peaks this weekend for a 2 night tramp via the Leith Saddle (walking in all the way from Dunedin!) but it was far too windy, we were crawling for a while, and unfortunately had to head back. Luckily we had a contingency plan for this very occurrence and got a few caches around SH1 and Waitati & Leith Valley Roads before walking back into town. So still a nice day out caching and we found some good ones. It wasn't too windy here (nor was the ground covered in snow) so we managed to get this one. TFTC!
A wonderful day for a stroll(!) - hard work with a nearly-nine month old in tow, but so utterly worth it! TFTC.
With such a helpful clue, and PC Sniff's company, the cache was soon in hand. What a lovely spot to stop for a breather. Track was so easy to follow up to this point and the day so beautiful. I couldn't believe that there didn't seem to be anyone else up here enjoying the view. Kia ora and thanks for the cache.
Spent 30 minutes or more looking for this one on the way up but more or less went straight to it on the way down
Second of four finds on our walk today. Took quite a while to find, even with hint. TFTC!
No luck, tried the clue and the coords but no joy. Tried again quickly on the way back down. Nice view but left frustrated.
Finally getting around to logging... I did this as part of the MEGA trip organised by KiwiChris (thanks!) Thanks also to Tealby for the ride. This one took a while to find, despite the crowd at GZ. Thanks.
Down here for the mega event, and thanks to evilno9 was signed up to take part on this hike. Probably the best part of the weekend! Nothing like a good hike in some wild weather! Big thanks to Kiwichris for being a fantastic guide, and great to meet some new people.
Being a bit more exposed up here, we were starting to get a real taste of the wild weather. Luckily with so many searchers the cache was quickly found and we were able to move on before we all got too cold! Nice spot, TFTC

With 9 searchers and 1 tour guide it was a little crowded at GZ but Tronador soon came up with the goods. The weather was starting to deteriorate by this time and we were all rugged up and hoping that our day's outing would not be ending prematurely. TFTC - and the stunning views.
Enjoyed the steep climb to get up here with the others, mostly because it was pretty cold out so the body enjoyed the chance to stay warm if nothing else. Initially held back from looking as I'd found the previous but decided to chip in and do my bit for the team. Wasn't needed as I was looking in the wrong place but we soon had the find and continued our journey onwards and upwards.

#4214. The group took a bit of time to track this one down (being more exposed to the biting southerly didn't help), but we got there in the end. TFTC.
Found as part of the group completing the NZ Mega event Swampy Circuit Trek led by KiwiChris with StreetWalkerNZ following behind ensuring we all kept together.
The group met up at our starting co-ordinates and then set off at 9am. There was a question as to how far we would get due to the uncertainty of the weather, however apart from having to shelter briefly from some light hail it turned out to be a rather nice day allowing us to complete the full circuit.
Second cache on the circuit, found quickly once we read the hint. The clouds dissipated for a few minutes so we got to see the views. Thanks for the hunt.

As a part of the NZ Mega event a "tramp" was organised and led by KiwiChris to tackle the challenging Swampy Circuit.
We all met up at our starting co-ordinates (cheers for EvilNo9 for the lift) and then set off at 9am.
The weather was the only uncertainty about the day, but apart from a sharp hail storm, it was all perfect.
The terrain was the most challenging, with some long steep climbs and some pretty trecherous
downhill mud slides.
The walk was about 13 km, but felt more due to the terrain, but we completed it all within 6 hours,
with a break for lunch and stopping to find for 12 caches.
All in all a fantastic mini event, a big thank you to KiwiChris, with whom this activity would never
have come together. Took some fantastic photos on route.
Cache did not take to find with 10 active searchers !!!

We soon emerged out of the tree cover and found ourselves at a nice viewpoint and a welcome bench. The hunt was soon on, and this proved to be a bit more trickier to find than the last one. I soon extracted it from its hidey hole. The temperature had dropped here, as it became more exposed.
My final find for the day. Why...you ask is my final find in the middle of other geocaches on the path? Well mainly because I was muggled out big time.
I had started to look for this one and I could hear children in the background. I decided to sit out the muggles and let them go past. But no.. here they all come to sit next to me.. yelling and screaming.... Oh and look their adorable little muddy pooch has just jumped all over me. That is just fantastic...... said no Fangsoki ever.
The father said to me "so much for the peace and quiet". I felt like saying well their your family buddy.. move em on! I just upped and left. Consideration is a rare commodity
Anyway, I decided to get it on my way back. I arrived at GZ. No one there. Good.
The hint successfully confused me - and could be taken a few ways. I decided to go the blanket approach. I soon found the beastie. Hiding away safely. It was in good condition. I signed the log and re-hid it.

The given clues had me confused as to the location of this cache. Some serious searching was needed to land this one. Interesting to see the bush become more stunted the higher I climbed.
Container a bit damp inside but everything still dry inside plastic bags. Was about to give up on this one when the usual 'one more look' and we grabbed the smiley.
Found with Aoraki Sheep

Going past. One of those tear-out-hair-don't know how we failed to find it last time moments.. because it was where we looked... anyway, everything inside the snaplock bags is still dry, but water was inside the container. There's brown algae growing on the seal, so would suggest the container needs replacing.
Decided to tackle these ones up the Saddle today...quite windy/wet and visibility very poor but still a really nice walk with the dog. TFTC I am counting this towards my ramblers reward challenge cheers.

A good day for a walk out to Swampy. Great track through the bush to this cache and great views from this lookout. TFTC
Guwapo's muggle ninong is visiting. Instead od spending the afternoon with Soduko Papa took him for a walk. Very nice walk along the saddle to the lookout. Great views! Salamat!
Nice hide and a good view at night towards town, Mt Cargill pretty much fogged in apart from summit and mast. Just a quick stop though on a night run.
Left a small magnetic bookmark, TNSL.

Passing by, quick cache check and TB exchange. Wiped a little moisture out of cache container.
What a great view to both north and south, just the fog is starting to roll down from Swampy TFTC
TFTC SL well this one was a lovely spot to stop and get a lovely view of the city from here great sunny day and cant beleive Red Panda couldnt find it will have him on tomorrow maybe he had his eyes shut lol, no really good hide nobody on the track today well maintained track
TFTC, was looking on wrong side of track for a while, but luckily spotted a likely hiding spot
Despite the extensive clues provided all of which we took advantage of we still couldn't locate this cache. It must be well hidden or we overlooked the obvious.
Second times a charm on this one. Not sure how I missed it the first time but pleased I got it after only a few minutes searching. Was a beautiful day up here and especially nice to be out after all that rain! TFTC.
Had come for an explore on the walkway to see whether it was double pram friendly. Hadn't expected to make it this far but to my great surprise we did and with far less effort than I imagined. Hadn't really read the cache listing properly and only had the hint and last log with me. After five minutes of searching I discovered one of the kids meds were due shortly and had to cut the search short to race back down the hill. Managed to surprise a number of walkers on the way back down - it must have been quite a sight to see a large red object hurtling downhill! Will return on another day soon now I have reread the listing.
Didn't have enough time to look thoroughly - will have to go back sometime. Very nice spot with good views.
[Wandered up just before the rain started, cache well hidden, but found using a small tool I gathered nearby. Thanks for verifying cache still in place, and for the updated clue.]Could apply any of the b- words commonly used in geocaching, just not 'between'.[TFTC, TNSL]
Found this cache in the exact spot I left it when placed. Still in very good condition and perhaps slightly more well hidden than I had it.
I suspect the tree mentioned in the clue has been removed maybe so I have updated the clue to reflect this.

Walked up here today on the new motorway, tried to recognise where the hide site was, had a bit of a poke around but couldn't find the cache. As katie w says, the new viewing area is right where you used to stand and quite a few shrubs have been removed. Better check whether it's still there.
Extensive site development as shown in photo, looked between lots of other pate but DNF the cache. In the end I decided that if its still there, it must be well buried either under the development or the grubbings tossed around on the sides. It was a nice spot for lunch, anyway.
I bit of a scratch around to find this one. Botany wasn't my strongest point, or maybe it wasn't put back in the original spot?
Not too bad though.
+ Mint tin

Took a day's leave to clean up this area. Tramped the full circuit -- Rustler's Ridge, right to Swampy ridge, up to the summit and back down the boardwalk. Beaut day, sunny, but cold on top, especially when the wind blew. Magical views.
Spent far longer than necessary looking for this on my first two visits, but put my hand on it pretty well straight away this time.
