Tftc! Kids were very excited to find a cache next to camp ️

Found by The Boofs TFTC. Two water crossings by foot to get this one. Cache is good even though high water got to the tree of the hide.

I came from the north as the road is closed from the south. Got to the river and there was too water flowing for me to risk the crossing in my 2wd. So through the river I walk. Great adventure TFTC

Geocaching with Braveheart17 over the past few months in the Fleurieu area. Only just logging them all now, sorry. Love the hides and the adventures, thanks to all for the hunts. Thoroughly enjoyable. Bit of a hike to this one on a hot day but we made it and all worth the effort.

Forced to come in from the north, as the southern access is now closed (Boy! Is it closed!! Twisted) At the time, I hadn’t realised that this cache was as old as it was. Glad to see it still going. The creek at Cole Crossing was up, but nothing a 2” lift can’t handle, and didn’t need the snorkel Wink. Thanks for bringing us here Team Birk. TNLN. Cheers Big Grin.

We walked pretty much the entire perimeter of the park this afternoon. Saw a few kangaroos and some yellow tailed black cockatoos, and plenty of wildflowers.

TFTC Great spot & nice walk from Ridge Rd End.

06-Sep-10
Walked to this one from Ridge Rd after grabbing Cole Crossing. As it turned out it was a good move because the river was flowing that strongly after all the rain you would not have been able to access the cache from Cole Crossing Rd. In fact I didn't think I was even going to be able to grab it from Ridge Rd side as there had been water flowing this side of the cache as well. The cache was on an Island over the weekend with water flowing all around it. A well placed cache as it was sitting there high and dry when I got to GZ. Thanks for the pleasant walk and cache.

13-Aug-10
Pleasant walk in from the west, collecting on the way to cole crossing. Lovely area, thanks for bringing us here. Thanks Team Birk for the cache and hunt.

01-Aug-10
This cache was definitely a 'walk to' cache today, the Finnis was flowing well after a night of rain and only mad dogs and Englishmen would have tried accessing the cache from the north. Even a parks ranger was taking pictures.

Thanks Team_birk.

31-Jul-10
Walked from the other end past Coles crossing.
This was fantastic, Pikapene was quick to find the cache when we arrived at the GZ.
This has been quite a busy cache over the years TFC.

Since my car can't cross the creek, so I put my gum boots on and went across it. It took me a few minutes to find it because of overgrown grass. Finally this one can be put to bed as it has been on my list for ages.
Thanks Team_Birk for the cache. Smile

07-Feb-10
After a small 4WD session with fellow geocachers and a picnic near by we all took off to find the cache. Half of our party had visited this site and cache previously so we directed the geo kids to the area. They had success and loved all the swaps inside. TFTC SL and took little pink pen & gold heart left a seahorse and star fish.

31-Jan-10
After crossing the creak near GZ, which even this time of year had some water in it, and parking our 4WD
a muggle parked nearby came over questioning whether we were with "the other vehicles" who went on blatantly ignoring the "ROAD CLOSED" sign.
(Which by the way was ripped out of the ground and thrown to the side of the road along with the fence holding it!)
After confirming we were not, he headed over to some trail bikers who had come in soon after us. Much discussion took place and then the bikers turned around and left the area as
did the muggle. Phew. (still don't know who he was or why he cared)
We headed to GZ, lost some sunnies, found cache, signed log, found sunnies and headed back to car.
There was a lovely cool breeze in the area so we had lunch and left glad the cache had taken us to this little spot.
TFTC!

18-Jul-09
Arriving near GZ we had to let a big convoy of 4WDs get past before we could head down the small track that took us closer to the cache. A large puddle was no problem for the Geo Ranger then came the swolen and fast running Finnis river, now the convoy of 4WDs we had just seen had crossed the river with no problems so it was into low range and through we went, peace of cake. A quick find of the cache and it was back through the river and away.
TNLN
Thanks for the cache!

31-May-09
Had to pick up GeoDaughter from a Scout Hike in the Kuitpo / Cox's Scrub Area so left a little early with the GeoDog to grab some caches.

Ths was the site of the Saturday night camp - found some stepping stones to cross the river and a quick find. TFTC. Big Grin

03-May-09
Finally had a chance to work my way into this cache through all the dirt roads. When I arrived I had to park the car a little distance up the track as I was not prepared to drive through the big mud puddle or the fast flowing deep Finnes River.
Said hello to the muggle with her dog as I walked past while she had her lunch.
Just as I got to GZ I could hear her calling out to me, Why me? So made my way back across the river, over the unsteady rocks, to find her caught in the barb wire fence. She was not just caught but had impaled herself onto the wire barbs, so after removing her from the fence and a very great full thank you I headed back to the GZ to clam my prize.

Great little spot that has been destroyed by some idiot 4WD people.

16th find of the day and 1887th total find at 16:20.

It's not often that we get to go caching this far from home, but as we are both very fortunate to have a couple of weeks off - - -. By good planning or design this cache was on our list.

Able to drive to within 60 metres of the cache.

Took: Nothing
Left: Screwdriver
Thanks Team_Birk for the cache.

I'd missed out in this one several days ago as I couldn't find a way in. Now I see why. It appears that the North may be the only practical option for many (thanks finders for info on the southern option). Had to walk the last 100m or so but no problem there, The gps and geotrails had me searching one area for some time. When I expanded the search the cache was found easily, explaining why there were fewer geotrails in that spot! Thanks Team_Birk.

14-Jun-08
The drive in from the north was OK, creek quite high. The drive out to the south was rather challenging in the rain. Water over the bonnet once. We were very thankful for dual diff locks, snorkel and mud tyres. TFTC

01-Mar-08
It is a lovely area,TFTC.

31-Jan-08
Drove in from the north, through the dry riverbed, a short walk to the GZ in a nice spot, and drove out south ways. I imagine the southern track would be "fun" when wet and slippery.
TNLNSL. Thanks.

20-Jan-08
What a fun cache.
Had a shot at this in the Suzi when it was really wet and dark.
Back today in the Nissan and it is dry and not a problem.
My those are some deep trenches. Once at GZ it was an easy drive out southwards.

12-Jan-08
Found at 13:15. First find for Mrs Uni's mum. Started driving in from the South, but decided the XL7 doesn't have the clearance for some of those ruts, and parked with 400m to go. Really glad we did, as the spot featured in Wannabe Nomad's pic was a definite no-go for the Suzi.
Quote from Mrs Uni: "Steve, don't ever get a big 4WD and go on that type of road - I won't be joining you". I don't know what she means - those roads are for going on.
Anyway, Mrs Uni's mum didn't like it either, and wanted to walk while I drove the worst bit out. She was behind the car when I got caught in some of that soft red sand, and only just missed spraying the mother-in-law with it. I could hardly conceal my ... ahem ... concern.
Anyway, thanks for the fun.

07-Jan-08
Found the cache at 6.00pm. We enjoyed drive the car for the day. No swap. Thanks Team_Birk for organising the cache and hunt.

26-Dec-07
That track is a looooong way down. Hopped our way across the creek and found the cache. Took golf ball, left stickers. Thanks for the cache Team_Birk.

08-Dec-07
Another find on our second try. This time came in from the south and parked the Corolla about 830 m. from GZ – a wise decision! Walked down the 4WD track and after a bit of trouble with satloc found the cache. Easier walking back along the road inside the National Park

Fairly warm day - a lot of flies, grass seeds, and rabbits.

I of 2 DNF's for the day. (24 Finds)
Came in from the south but it was after 7pm when I got to the 4WD section and I came up against a big puddy. Two 4WD came through from the other side and given the depth I didnt want to play at that time of night.
Another day when I can enjoy the track.

Yippeee. Tossed contents of Geocruiser about....Shaken not stirred!!! Cool [^].
Clearence for takeoff was approved, and Geocruiser launched successfully through the terrain.
Geo-poodle slept through the ride. Nothing much phases her.

A few walkers out today, but managed to avoid suspicion.
Quick log and retrieved Ted and Thelma's ThongRed Face TB.
TB needs better shoes if it wants to traverse this area, so its off on another journey.
Thanks for the challenge Team Birk[:8]

07-Apr-07
Well the Sube almost made it from the south side. Almost. Had to walk the last 200m. There was this big hole the whole car would have disappearred into. To get out we did a u-turn by jacking up the centre of the car and just pivoting the whole thing. Smile

Found the cache no worries, once the GPS's settled down.

No campers during Easter??????? Too early.

Dropped off a bug, but it is gone now.

07-Apr-07

Freddo’s sooby did a corker job. We got in so far. That’s right. So far. We could have pushed on but we wanted to see if soob could do a three point turn. Recon Freddo’s turn here was worth 6 points (track pic). Points were awarded depending on the correct wheel lock. Big Grin.

The walk to the cache was enjoyable. No one here today, which is surprising since it was Easter bunny season. Thanks Team_Birk, clear skies, TeamAstro [^]

Fantastic spot. Must admit I went playing and looking around while Team Stinjali and the kids went looking for the cache. What a great place. Chickened out on the 4WD southern route, next time for sure. Thanks.

Great spot for a cache and RAV's maiden creek crossing. Found cache easily with geokids making swaps, minicards for red car and mini torch for pirate. Followed crackoflunch further up the track only to reverse back outSurprised, will leave that stretch of road for the big boys and their 4WD's. Thanks Team_Birk great spot and will return one day when parks are open.

just checked for last before heading off around Aus.
all good, great contents.

Came in from the north after having been to Kyeema frogs. Got the wheels wet at the creek crossing as we have had rain in last 24 hours in an otherwise dry time.

Found cache easily after a short walk. Decided to be adventurous and go out the other way. Did need 4wd for one section, and other sections bounced us around a bit. Thanks Team_Birk. Nice spot, compared to the other side of the scrub where the fire recently was.

Found by Barry and Beryl at 12.30 pm decided to tackle this one on a cooler day as we are aware of the possibility of snakes in the area, was about 7 metres out according to our GPS but quickly found. Picked up TB Rhine Maiden Woglinde for further adventures and left Torch and eraser Thanks to Team_Birk for bringing us here to one of our favourite spots

11-Nov-06
Had been to this spot before so when the cache came up we were keen to return. Come in from the south. Found no worries. Took nothing but left a TB. Drove across the creek and back to give the car a wash. Actually have come thru here in the past to wash off salt and sand from trips to the murray mouth. Thanks for bringing us back again.

11-Nov-06
Drove down here from Kyeema Frogs, so enjoyed some spectacular scenery on the way in. We were travelling in the new Holden GeoHatchback, so decided not to tackle the creek crossing. Miss J waited by the car as I negotiated the stepping stones and cache retrieval. Good to see some water still flowing in a time like this. Took Tigger, left an eight ball. Thanks Team_Birk, a fun cache.

07-Nov-06
What can I say but "Damn you Hurtle"
Silver again, missed it by 40 minutes. Was a little surprised I didn't see you on the road in Wink

A very nice location for a cache though. Could be lots of fun in the winter Twisted
+ Tigger, - Subaru keyring and a TB (but not the one I expected!)

Cheers, TFTH

07-Nov-06
Well I would have been here earlier, if I had not assumed that the cache name had something to do with Finnis, the town! As a result I was way off course, when I realised, so ended up coming from the south which left me with an 800m walk each way (the low slung geomobile didn't like the look of that 1st rut past the '4wd only' sign!)
Guess I'm lucky I went to this one 1st to try for the FTF(which I got!), before tackling some other deep south ones today, that I've had DNF's for! Razz I decided it had sat here for long enough, lonely, so went for a cruise.... I reckon I saw you on the road in Nangkita 4fun? I was heading to Mt Compass.
The cache is in a great location, which I have noted for a return visit....
