Just about to give up when a hunch paid off. Last finder did a first class job of hiding this one. TFTC
It pays to read the info given carefully so wasted time here before finding it. tftc
New Zealand 2103 trip for the Auckland Mega at Albany. Day 9, Day trip around Lake Taupo. The cliffs looked amazing, but no one was climbing. I again had difficulties with some very prickly bushes on the way into this one. Thanks.

Very easy find as the cache was clearly visible on approach. The nest had been semi destroyed, so we rebuilt it for you and it's now nicely hidden again. Had to make a hasty retreat back to the car as the bees came a bit close for comfort! TFTC
PS. Just realised this was our 500th find! Also, amazing tree on the left on the way to GZ absolutely covered in yellow blooms (think it may have been a mimosa), deserved a closer inspection and a few photos.
Wasn't where I thought it would be... Wasn't expecting the bush bash! Not sure what the green plastic thing is for (camo?), when I found it all it did was fill up with water and create a sodden cache and cache bag. Put it back more or less as I found it, but upside down, that may offer better protection from rain!! (duh!)
I really enjoyed this spot..havn't stopped here before! The log is full up,so put in a temporary log to keep it going, but does need maintenance..Great spot though..TFTC!!
No bush bashing required, though we did take the car on a bit of a rally through the Reserve as we entered at the wrong end. Spotted the twins easily and found the (not so) concealed entry point. Thanks to the hint, the cache was soon discovered in its nest. The logbook is very full; couldn't find many places to sign in chronological sequence. It looks like this might be the original logbook? We had spotted the lookout from the Licorice Cafe as we were having lunch nearby, but declined to do the 20 minute walk to it. We also declined to see if the cliffs really did echo; didn't seem that appropriate in this sacred area. Anyway, had no time; we were on a "mission" today. TFTC
Found it together with Team Autoværn on our New Zealand tour back in 2013.

Well this caching is a strange game - we have been here a year before but madam stabbed her head with a rogue branch so we left in tears!! The cache definitely wasn't sitting were it was today though all the clues now fit. TFTC
A new day in New Zealand on the way from Whakapapa to Rotorua... the weather was absolutely amazing today... whooooooowhooooo...!!! Enjoy the stay...

Not much chance of an echo here. Couldn't find the concealed entrance so Mr g did end up bush bashing. No problems with the find. TFTC
Echo Cliffs is an interesting name, given that there is so much vegetation I could not get an echo. I doibt anyone could. Was forced to use the hint and was still looking at the wrong things, eventually decided to walk out a little way and have a look at the tops of the trees to find a better alternative for the twins - and found I had almost stepped on it!
Found at 10:31 AM GAFF5 in the company of Phetlern. Gosh - this took a lot longer than it should have. As soon as we arrived we kicked the cache camo and said - "How do these things get here". Sure enough it was the cache after looking around for 10 minutes.
Thanks Punga and Paua

Our visit to NZ began with the Mega, today was the last day of what has been an amazing and wonderful time travelling with the Pprass team. Thanks for such informative notes about this picturesque site. We loved the irony of the cache hide. Gets a favorite tick from us for originality and novelty.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Punga and Paua.

Big brother had some odd jobs in Taihape, Ohakune and Taupo to complete. Decided to invite myself along so I could find a few caches.
Nervous to find bee hives close by... so allergic. But no sting was going to hold me back.
Tried to find an easy path in... without bees. Found a track but ended up bush bashing across to get closer. Couldn't find anything to match the hint. Wasn't until I stepped out that I found what I needed. TFTC.

Used the hint and a quick find . Had passed by here so many times and for one reason and another never had time to stop for this cache, until this morning that is. Nice spot, surprised that people weren't freedom camping here.TFTC
This is one of those caches We have driven past many times, telling ourselves that we will stop when we have time to do it, well today we decided to stop, and it was surprisingly quick and easy! There was a pen, so we could sign this one, no need to use our monkey stamp like with the last log Thanks for the cache guys!
Took a long time to find, resorted to the clue, which is unfortunately ambiguous. TFTC.
Found with speedy12, Dunc_nz, and TeamJADE after a wonderful weekend in Taupo. Good morning for a walk, and great hide.

Bought a new GPS a month ago, and the unit brought me exactly to the cache. Pretty much stepped on it so was a quick find. Log book has been full for a couple of years, so would be good for next hunter to bring some paper.
After the 5th Rock cache, we drove down and into the reserve by Motuopa Lodge and then country miles across a deserted reserve! Left the car near the southern entrance (never noticed this before!) and walked the rest of the way.
As a former beekeeper I was drawn for a look (eyes only, not hands) at the nearby hives. As to be expected in April, the bees were not particularly active, but those that were coming or going weren't the slightest bit aggressive.
Spotted the twins while still on the fairway, and then began the search in the rough. We searched, and then we searched some more, increasingly thinking there would be no smiley face for us here. Then out of near-defeat came the sweetest victory of the day. What a clever hide.
If I was a Premium Member, this would get a "favourite" gong and I'm surprised it has only had 2 so far. This cache is a great example of why geocaching is so much fun. Thanks P&P.

Had to stop for a snooze and refuel to prevent falling asleep at the wheel. This was an ideal spot to stop. Serached all around GZ for at least 10 minutes. Then as I gave up to return to the car I stepped on something - the cache. Left "Tome" TB. TFTC.

Went off Roading in the mazda though a swamp and then went a different reserve but could not find nests or cache on way back to Auckland Tftc
Had to abandon the car for this one with a race to find with the kids. Dad found this one. Watch for the beehive close-by. TFTC.
Found with Richargr. Undergrowth has well and truly taken over but bkj97 prompted us to make a track towards the hint and the cache was soon discovered.
Found this cache with little blue hen. No sign of any bees. Agree with her that the site needs a little TLC, however we made our way forming a rough path in the general direction. Thanks to bkj97 for the hints that enabled tohe cache to be discovered. TFTC
Attempt this one a while ago, but the Old Nuvi sent me all over the place , so I gave up in the end. Quick early morning find TFTC
Well this cache turned into a bit of a struggle ! Firstly my in car GPS was trying to take me to a road which is a dirt track, that runs somewhere along the top of the cliffs. After driving past 4 times and giving in to instincts I drove up close to GZ. I started walking around and noticed a buzzing sound all around me, only to find that there are bee hives close by and that all the spring flowers on the native plants had brought the bees out in droves ! I managed to escape them only to have an altercation with a tree leaving me with a large gash on my forehead. Needless to say I was determined to find this cache which I eventually did !! TFTC its a lovely spot
The numerous beehives close to the cache site made for an interesting find this morning! The area was simply 'buzzing'!
A great little hiding spot!

Found after a short search while passing this way this morning. Nicely hidden, took a few minutes to find it! Signed log, TFTC.
2.40pm - Looked for this one last weekend but it was getting to dark to e able to find. Back today to an easy find as it was out in the open, rebuilt nest. SL>TFTC
Passing through on my way South again after a work trip, so just had to stop for a look as I was in too much of a hurry to stop last time I came this way. Nice to do a more or less drive by cache here! A nice quick find, although the camo nearly had me fooled.

This was a fun one to find, but my GPS on my phone struggled for reception as we got closer... TFTC
I am in town for a week doing some work on the Tongariro, so I thought it would be rude not to do some local caches. It was great to drive cross country almost right to the cache. Thanks for this one.
Arrived at GZ as dawn broke. Drove the subaru to within 25metres once access worked out and made educated guess at two of a kind. There were police flashing lights further up the road dealing with some unsuspecting motorist but he was not tempted to follow me to GZ. Gps started doing strange things and had no joy at initial guessed spot. Headlamp scanned the vicinity and found another two of a kind on four different attempts and spent 25 mins rummaging around some very likely nests. As I almost gave up I passed my original spot and the Garmin suddenly said 1metre and I damn near stepped on the cache. Phew... such is caching. TFTCSL
Almost gave up on this one, found the 2 of a kind easy enough but the cache was a bit further from the mark than I thought it would be. found at 4pm, a good hide and a pleasant spot,
Thanks from MADToo.
Thanks from MADToo.
Found the concealed entrance, co ordinates sopt on but alas no cache, maybe didnt look in the right place
Found this cache a little while ago but catching up on missed logs due to holidays. TFTC
Bit worried when the Gps almost sent us into the lake but the hint sorted that out.
There were bee hives and lots of bees around when we went searching for this one, so had to abandon =( Will try again another day...
Searched with Dr Rob. Gave up because beehives close to GZ + too many bees around (allergic!)
I was expecting something else, but the place was cool, anyway. Noticed really lot of bees at the bee-house. Took TB. Greetings from Latvia!
Left a climbing theme geocoin knowing that climbing groups were active in this reserve in the past but afterwards saw the sign asking muggles not to climb as it the cliffs are sacred to the locals. Didn't have an easy find. It was very well camoflaged and obviously to good effect. The log book was a pleasure to peruse. Full in date sequence but found a page near the front with lots of space. It should last a long time using in- fill and it would be a great shame to replace it. GINO TFTC
Really pleased to find this one today; I had looked twice before with out any luck. Wasn’t looking in quite the right spot the previous times. SL TFTC
Took quite a while to find this one, even though it was almost exactly where gps took us. Great camo. TFTC
Very well hidden, never would have guessed there was a cache in that spot, took us quite a while to find it. Pretty sure I looked there a couple of times before finding it too.
Nice place to visit, so quiet and peaceful. Relatively quick find but log book is full. Managed to squeeze my mark in though. TFTC
Took a little while to find this one, batteries going flat in the torch and the camoflage job is brillant.
Thanks for a interesting hide.

First time we looked had no luck but second time found it. Photos help and so does the hint
Nice hiding place & cross country drive to get here. Had to revert to the old faithful Garmin for this one....lost Iphone reception near GZ. TFTC
When we arrived at GZ it took some time for us to find the well hidden cache, great hide T4TC
Quick find on our way back to Auckland after walking the Tongariro crossing on Saturday.
It took a little bit of search before F1lZ came up with the cache.
Nice camo.

The cammo job on this one was brilliant (really matched the surroundings). We spent a few minutes looking for this one and F1LZ was the one to come up with the goods. TFTC
