i hadn't read the previous logs so didn't realise WPT2 was missing. However like others I had plenty of info to go on. TFTC #3000 I thought this cache was worthy of a milestone.
It was a day to spend in Ashburton picking up a few caches.
Had to PAF to get the values (xy) for this one as the item in WP2 is Missing in Action and will be until Anzac Day 2012.
Cheers for the cache.

I too had to make an educated guess at the expected GZ - not too hard though really.
This was made harder by the fact that the "obvious feature" at WP2 has been removed. However, there was enough info from the cenotaph to have an educated guess of where to go and then it was just a case of matching the clue and bingo - a smiley.
So many young men to be remembered. This multi is an excellent way to make us all think about how to avoid sending any more to war.
Very nice multi, well constructed and themed with the various spots visited fitting in well. TFTC.
5515 Had inking where the final should be… was confused when we arrived outside some farmers paddock… quick check revealed we had incorrectly keyed in one digit for South, placing us over a Km away… nicely themed cache, many thanks for the history lesson, TFTC.
First Multi we've found! was easy enough.
- 10 Commandments coin

Our second go at this – I think we collected all the info when we were here a couple of years back for an event, but I don’t remember ever going to look for the final. This time we re-did the whole thing over again and it all came together quickly. Does help that the weather was warm & sunny rather than snowing. Perhaps we had frozen brains last time. We did find the final co-ords a bit out, but we had that issue with most of the caches we did over these few days. We wonder if our GPS is on its last legs. TNLN TFTC
(336) A really nice multi and good little trek accross Ashburton.. The cache was quite exposed so replaced it a little better.. TFTC, SL.
All the family really enjoyed this multi . Took a while to find final cache. Hubby had tracked it down just as daughter de-coded the hint lol. TFTC!
Picked up the two waypoints during lunch, then had time to pick up the final and a few other caches after work.

Alot of fun in working out the co-ordinates and a good reminder of what these people did for us...... Thanks...
A nice little multi. After we found the headstone we were fine. A really hot day.TFTC.
Out early on Sunday with the dog, although she was getting a bit bored in the car all the time. Found this one quickly once at GZ. Thanks for the effort on this cache.
Took a bit longer than expected to locate final cache as had difficulty reading the 'clue' due to lichen on the stone. Pity is was a wet windy day as we would have spent more time on our journey. TFTC
Not too difficult to collect the data. A nice day for wandering about in Ash and GPS was spot on. TFTH TNLN
Couldn't find one of the people listed! Got to WP 2 and then realised that I had missed ANOTHER name as well! So, back to WP1 and found them both straight away. Multi indeed.

With the help of the kids, managed to find this one after a bit of scrummaging and disturbing a nesting duck!
Good hunt, took about a hour due to muggles and biking. yes alot of names on the walls
Last multi of the day in Ashburton, a couple of sobering spots to visit. I am always hesitant hunting caches so close to graves though. Cheers Gav [1847]
They are really heros? I guess they felt like poor soldiers on the ware field... TFTC
This was a very good cache, It gave me time to think and see the names of those who lost there lives for there country,, so thanks for that cheers
Didn't find 2nd WP. Deduced where to find cache from clue. Difficult looking for WP2 due to funeral next door.
Im so glad to have been led here this morning.
Grabbed the TB's to be released again soon.
Thanks Team Chelmo

First cache on the way back home after a brief visit to Chch for Eldest to scope out Engineering next year. This was an excellent cache for a few reasons. I spotted a couple of family names on the Cenetaph, and this seems a fitting spot to start my Roots TB on it's journey: my grandparents had a farm just out of town and my father was born here!
Tried to keep to the theme for trades but only sort of, sorry. Left black lanyard, 'sands of time' timer, took geocaching wristband and ammocan pin (daughters most insistent )
TFTC Team Chelmo!
Cheers,
G.

Easy find, though dark & under torchlight for the final (my wife and daughter were THRILLED).
Definately makes you appreciate what we have.

Was here at dawn - the most suitable time to pay my respects. We will remember them. TN Left thoughts. T4TC.
Took a wee bit to find all those names on WP1. Being the day after ANZAC day there was a lot of wreaths and messages on the Centotaph and it was rather moving to read some of them. One from an 8 year old at a local school "to everyone that dieded, we love you always"
Very quick at WP2 and fairly quick find of the final though again I spent some time at this point taking it all in, it is a truely both a beautiful and poignant place.
A very good multi and very pleased not to have rushed this one. Many thanks.

Always driven past this cenotaph and meant to stop to have a look, so finally I've given it a bit more of an inspection. Road works not done yet and a quick find once at the finish. TNLN Thanks.
Another multi
Mum had some trouble finding some of the names but got there in the end.
Then we walked to the final and it was so far for me.
I was hungry and tired when we got home.
Thanks for the cache.

Did this cache with Mum. She had problems finding some of the names. Then walked to the final.
18 Visited first two waypoints about two weeks ago. This is our closest to home so wanted to complete it.
Dad of at work with car so boys and Mum made a 4km round trip walk to get this one ticked off.
Was glad to see that some of our servicemen where able to come home to age before dying. It makes you think of all the young ones who did not come home and are left behind on far of battlefields.
May we never forget them.
PS The road works are not far from completetion roads look like they just need resealing now.

We started the hunt for this one 4 weeks earlier, but major road works prevented us getting to the final cache site. On returning the road works were still in full swing, but access was possible. Thanks for an interesting historic theme in this tour of Ashburton. It was very satisfying to get this one at last!
925 Found this on the way back from Chelmo's Summer Chit Chat in Ashburton. Enjoyed this little multi. Neat way of getting the numbers. TNLN DS8300
A great little multi and it makes you think how many men were lost thro' war in these small communities
A poignant moment reading all those names - but at least it was done in good company. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(765)
Enjoyed this multi on the way to Chelmo's Summer Chit Chat caching event in Ashburton with Lytteltonwitch. At the first WP we ran into 2 cachers. We were destined to meet again on the way home.
1312. We do wish that Ashburton caches came up on our nearest list so that we could keep track of what is available. We nearly missed seeing this one before leaving home so were very glad that we did a quick check.
This was a well though out multi with some interesting twists to keep you on your toes.
+ military vehicle + French flags
- Geocoin - geocaching bracelet
Thanks for the cache

Excellent cache.... MY FIRST, I took my daughter as she had no choice because it was my birthday. She loved it. No point taking the geocoin as I am new to this and not certain of what you do with them???

Enjoyed this wee multi - but that's a lot of names to find.
Harassed a scateboard muggle at the first waypoint so that I could read the names. TNLNSL.

Well thought out route to cache that incorporates the three places that we remember our fallen in Ashburton. Well done. Took out Army Jeep and put in a sheep. Plan to leave jeep in a cache elsewhere that also remembers our fallen heroes.
took a group of young ones for this 1 most well done. The kids learned lots ..Took a lizzard left set of ear plugs.signed log
Dropped in on my way to work to discover the two coins/TB's in here at the moment. It's great having this cache only a couple of hundred meters from home!!
My first FTF, and my first multi!! YAY! Nice one - easy to locate, nice and quiet here today. Thanks for the FTF prize - must get it activated and moving around!

Lat cache of a long weekend. Dropped of travel bug who should feel right at home. Had our dinner at the first WP before starting the labourious task of carefully counting of names, must have been extra careful as no mistakes where made. At the cache we quickly decided to decode the clue so as to not disturb the surroundings.
We have been to both the Anzac and El Alamain memorials this year. These locations are alway saddening.

Dropping in a kiwi geocoin (Think this would be an appropriate cache for this coin).
