Stunning location for a cache. Wish the water was warmer for a swim. TFTC
To celebrate my 40th Birthday (which was during lockdown) with Yvettetb we are trying to find 40 caches on our 40 hour adventure. We started this morning at 8am in Russell and heading North to Coopers Beach via roadside caches & Mangonui. We love sudoku (the 1st one was easy, 2nd one was challenging) and learnt about KenKen to solve another puzzle. Ending today's adventure with the night in Paihia

It was time for a wee drive down to Taipa/Coopers Beach area to have a bit of a look around and to sign off the odd cache or three.
Cheers for the cache.

Day 4 of our trip. Loved our time in this part of NZ. Group of us from Auckland took the weekend off and explored the area. Thanks for taking the time to place this cache. All cache logs signed as "SEAC". Sorry for generic logs.
With the mega being postponed a plan was hatched for some of the Team SEAC crew to head north for some fun. Today was day 4 and after a big day yesterday we decided to make it a slower one, stay local to where we were staying and enjoy the area.
Parked up close by and wandered over to the general location. Given the terrain rating we knew where we needed to be and UncleSam soon put his hand on the container - woop woop!
Thanks for the cache.

Day four of our SEAC trip into Northland, and we decided to have a slightly less full on day of driving and explore the area around our accommodation. After a leisurely start and coffee we set off to find caches.
Thank for bringing us to this rocky shore. TFTC!

Day three of our caching adventure, with a group of like minded people from Auckland. Our local lodgings are at Cable Bay with an amazing outlook..... Staying local today preparing for the trip home on Tuesday..... Early finish enabling this logging.
Thanks to the CO's for placing the caches found today.

Out with Team SEAC on a long weekend raid of the upper north island. This was the fourth day of caching, and we cached around the Mangonui area. This was a very quick find following the hint. Signed Team SEAC to save space. TFTC.
Bagged this one after the adjacent earthcache. There seemed to be some invisible but extremely sticky spiderweb across the GZ. I hope it wasn't that white spot spider!

Found with tassie expat (pls refer her answers) while passing through. On holidays from Australia, very nice place. Tftec
A quick find with frmen1. The easiest T3 that I've done in thongs (of the footwear variety). Great view from here. Not keen to go any higher without more appropriate shoes. TNLN TFTC
Today I explored Kerikeri including its Saturday market before moving on to enjoy my time on the Wairakau Track. Collecting some more finds on my way to the hotel to check in TFTC
Headed up north today to do the Kaitaia Fun Run. Luckily the worst of the grotty weather passed over whilst the prize giving was on and it was actually quite nice when I headed up the road to here. An awesome beach that I have visited many times with family in my younger days and a pleasure to come back again today.
After doing the nearby earthcache, clambered up the rocks and soon made a find of this nice cache. Signed log and returned safe and secure as found. Then headed back down to the shoreline and with the low tide, was able to secure a feed of mussels for dinner. TFTC

Being a William myself, I made sure to sit, rest and enjoy the beautiful view at this cache.
Would recommend more William's coming to visit this one.

Today was the fifth day of our trip to the Bay of Islands region. After having a nice breakfast we set of heading north along the tourist drive. After visiting the Rainbow Warrior memorial at Matauri Bay we picked up the cache at the intersection leading to Matauri Bay. Before continueing along the tourist drive till we reached the beache at Te Ngaere to stop for a few minuets to relaxe. Continueing our journey along the tourist drive we stopped at the Letterbox-Hybride. We drove to Tauranga Bay and a few other beaches along the way. After visiting the virtual cache in Mangonui and seeing a nice sunset from cable bay the two caches located here will be the last ones for today as it is getting dark quickly. This one was a quick find once up on top of the rocks. Easy climb up here and nice view in the fading light. Tftc.
What a spot! Thanks so much for bringing us here, it’s wonderful! Found and logged

Had a young chap staying. Thought I would introduce him to caching, so visited this cache. Gave him the GSP and told him to follow the arrow. Hahaha ... smart cookie spotted GZ, with only the clue, from some distance. Taught him about 'stealth', as muggles quite nearby. He played the game perfectly and even posed, as I pretended to take a picture (which I actually took). Great cache. Thanks for the placement. Cheers
I scrambled up the cliff face through the prickly and cutty stuff to have a look. The Seagnoid has already been up here and on his way down again. No its over here more. Bummer so down I scramble and around to find the Seagnoid has it snagged and tagged. Cheers.
OK thats it for today. Have to get back to Kaitai to get Toby out of lock up. Stopped of for some giggle juiced for Zara at Awanui and got soaked as it was pissing down. We hook up with Toby and head south out of town.
Its Monday - day ten -Coopers Beach - Kaitaia - Kaikohe area with The Seagnoid and Zara today. Toby and William at Motor Doctors again!
Its another epic 3+ week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and Willam to the Far North. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

GPS said that way - so that way I went. Darn it's steep! Don't want to get a foot wrong here. Came across the rocks, but the relevance to the cache title escapes me. Wandered along... Ah. There! Excellent hiding place reached in and SQUARRRK!!! Oops! That hole is inhabited. So... not there. Well, nowhere else here, so I very carefully climbed down. Wend around the other side and back up. Hey! Now THIS looks like a seat! And there's the cache.
Day ten of an awesome, tiring, long, three week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Today it is Cooper's Beach. Is that the town's name? The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, lighthouses, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!
Merry Christmas from the Seagnoid!

Northland Day 3: Today’s journey brought us from the beaches of Doubtless Bay, down through the East Coast Bays to Kerikeri, by the Bay of Islands. Today’s highlights were primarily sweeping views of the harbours and bays of the East Coast of Northland, and while it did threaten to rain, the storm never did arrive to where we were and we had lots and lots of sunshine. Good and productive day overall!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
It was a long walk down Taipa Beach and a short scramble to get to this cache. The cache was very easily spotted at GZ, and thank goodness the gorse hasn’t really blocked the way up. TFTC!

I started going up too high, but that wee track is nasty and best left to more able legs. Then I checked the more obvious rock outcrop and there it was. All safe & sound with excercise book wrapped around the outside of the container. Given that rain is coming I poked it back into the container but it is a squash! Thanks for getting me up here. The beach looked beautiful today, but I can see from the tracks in the dunes that the place can get busy. TFTC
We came here today to do the new earthcache just metres away from this hide. Obviously we couldn't leave without one of us making the short scramble up to GZ. Great spot and nice hide. Thanks.
Staying at the Ramada so after settling in heading down the beach to locate our first cache here
Easy find once I reached gz while geo- hubby sat on the rocks admiring my attempt to get to gz

Am gradually catching up on logs. Found this whilst The X-Trailers were working out an earthcache closeby.
Only a short visit in this area as we were heading to Rotorua in opposite direction but they had to come back after discussing with me the possability of an earthcache. Beautiful views across the bay today. TFTC found in obvious spot.

Was up in Taipa for a wedding at the Resort so popped down here for a quick climb and grab. Dropped a TB. Awesome views from here. TFTC
We used the dry time during a huge rain front which is staying more days in the Northland. This one was a little bit difficult with jandels, lot of thorns However, finally we got it. But the container isn't cammo and the lid isn't blue.

On my way from Kaitaia to Russell, I wanted to find some caches. This was the first attempt of the day. It's a rainy day, but by the time I walk up to the beach all is still fine. The cache is found quickly, even though my GPS tells me I'm 8 metres off. Thanks for showing and hiding!
On the way to Waitangi we could take some caches along the way. The hints and the coords were good and so we were quickly found.
Thanks for the care of the cans and greetings from Germany say the Moorhelmis

Thank you for this cache. The yachts were being towed out into the bay and the setting was just stunning.
(2270) Easy find on a lovely day. Luckily the gorse plants are only small at the moment.
Came around the corner to see two tractors blocking the road and a couple of elderly gents having a leisurely chat. This would only happen in Northland, lol. Another beautiful beach in this paradise. A jump over the little stream and a little scramble to gz - good fun. An easy find, TFTC
After staying the night at the beautiful Taipa resort we decided to head out and grab this one before we left the area. What a nice walk along the beach. TM
Visiting from Tauranga and really enjoying the caching here. Luckily the tide was out, so we could rock-hop with no problem. Easy find. Cache good, plenty of swag. Added a pencil. Out Jandal TB. TFTC
#10955. Another interesting short walk to a headland. No problem finding the cache once we got to GZ. Nice views back across the bay. TFTC.
Our last full day in Doubtless Bay, so we decided to have a quiet time, not straying too far from home base. Spent the earlier part of the morning investigating options for replacing my broken Oregon , then headed out late morning to find a cache or three. It was tough for me without a GPSr, and having to rely on StreetWalker for cache info, etc.
We took advantage of the low tide to look for this cache. First we had a drive around Taipa, as we had only seen it from SH10, not the best vantage point. Found a close by parking area then had a short stroll to GZ. StreetWalker had read about the gorse, so made sure he brought his caching backpack. Secateurs are part of his caching kit and he has put them to good use at times.
No problems with the gorse, and he soon located the cache, while I was busy admiring the view back to Taipa from here. left a toy car that we had rescued from a too small container yesterday plus a TB. TFTC.

On a mission this weekend with Cats&Dragons, with a the main goals of reaching Cape Reinga to find the Virtual caches up there and the 35 and 36 degree South challenges, plus with anything else in between. We had a great time touring around Northland, and it is a pretty spectacular place. Being from Southern Northland, it has reminded me that I need to visit this place more.
The initial plan was to head up the west coast and on to Ninety Mile Beach (which was a huge highlight of the trip) and then down the east coast, but the plan was flexible depending on progress. We mostly achieved our ambitious plan, but due to time restraints had to cut back a bit from the planned list. If we had another day I think we would of achieved most of what we had planned.
Some of the figures for the trip were, 1600km's travelled in a 48 hour period, 37 hours of caching, 4 hours of sleep, and 7 hours driving up from Hamilton and back, with a total of 176 caches found!!
Thanks to all the CO's for placing these caches and showing us around Northland.
Great walk along the beach to GZ, a family camping nearby with a couple of dogs we had to navigate past. Found after a small search at GZ. TFTC.

This weekends little adventure was in the company of HKCB (as we'd both been given leave passes by our respective partners) so off we set.
The primary goals this weekend were to collect as many of the earthcaches as time would allow, the two virtuals, and complete both the requirements for the S35 & S36 challenges. Mind you this did not stop us working to collect anything else that we could find as time allowed.
It was a great trip with the weather playing its part so that we saw a great variety of countryside between caches and far too little sleep.
The result was 1600kms (over 48 hours), 189 caches (35 hours caching) & 4 hours sleep, not bad for a couple of beginners. Thanks to all the CO's and those that maintain the caches for us to collect on our too brief tour of the north.
Having finished our morning adventure up the beach and to the lighthouse it was now time to travel back down the Tombolo to see what we could grab. Now its fully dark time so will be interesting to see how long we last as the previous night we only got 1.5hours sleep
Thanks for the placement

Was within one meter of co-ordinates but could not find, it may be higher up, but I am not a mountain goat. To much gorse for my liking.
Found as part of my Post Mega northen road trip. Really enjoyed a part of the country I hadn't seen before. Thanks to all those who have placed cacahes to encourage us southerners to come your way!
Lovely beach been here before. Found cache with Moneydork, Reiguana and Bladesedge. TFTC
Cool cache! Found it with Svetti placed a "explore the world" geocoin gej72e in cache
Tide was fairly low and we had a lovely wander along the beach. Did wonder if cache might be below high tide mark if under the hint - but after further searching and mountain goat impersonations we had log in hand and did the signing!! A few spiders were disturbed by tikitour as she made the grab!! Tftc.
Beach fishing being done today - but we kept on with cache hunting.

Nice walk along the beach and then a wee bit of an adventure to find the cache. Took a bit of a tumble down the grass bank, all good though and carried on down the beach. No rock fishing today but some on the beach. After picking the wrong side of the rock and got covered in spiderwebs found the cache. Picked up TB which on checking has not been logged into this cache or logged since August 2011. Will grab and take it visiting. TFTC
Beautiful place here in Taipa. Tide was out and muggles playing in the surf even after the huge storm last night. Enjoyable walk along the beach thanks.
Found while touring Northland from Te Anau with The Italian Job from Auckland. TFTC
