In Brissy for a caching blitz with Steeba and Big Matt. We looked and looked and then we rang KC. He put us right where to look but still no luck. Nearly got my hand stuck.
May be next time.

Might be time for a cache check reading the notes.

12-Oct-08
Didn't find this one- after calling a previous finder we noted that we also found the tether but the cache wasn't ever attached here anyway so probably just need to look harder.

26-Sep-08
beautiful trees ...We found the tether and it looks like the cache has been carefully removed and is missing

26-Sep-08
Was with Claeton and Smeeagain all we found was a cord screwed to the tree Dad and Smeeagain thought this was where the cache should have been so that is the reason for this log hope we were wrong

19-Aug-08
A plaque on this site has just been unveiled describing the history of "The Trees" and of John Hargreaves, a significant figure in local history. I hope such recognition will help ensure the protection of these special silent sentinels.

08-Aug-08
I fondly remember the green fields where Mayfair shops are now and marvelling that me peas came from so close to home. Still love the trees - especially the two sentinel norfolk pines (visible from home some 1.4kms away). JackyLegs provided the geo-decoy but it did take a good long look and only accidently found when my poking stick flicked up and hit.....something. Signed both logs. Thanks for the fun happyharries - SVN07.

03-Aug-08
Mr KC loves PEAS..so could not drive past without giving it a go...and like the others, we found 2 cache containers so signed off in both of them..Thanks for the interesting bit of history..the factory really did have quite a prime spot overlooking Brisbane...TFTC SL

15-Jul-08
This was an interesting hide that took quite a while to locate. Must have provided plenty of amusement to passing motorists, seeing some weirdo trying to climb trees. TFTC

15-Jun-08
10 of 10 finds for us today.

Another one of those caches we drive by all the time and decided that today was the day to find it.

Straight forward find in the end. It was strange that we actually found 2 cache containers at the GZ?? Not sure what was happening there. Signed just one of the logs and replaced as we found them.

Thanks for the hunt happyharries.
Cheers

Nice old trees and an interesting bit of history. Found two caches here for the price of one and avoided falling in the big holes they are digging nearby.
Thanks again.

05-Jun-08
Forty eighth for the day and cache two hundred and fourteen on day seven of our Brisvegas trip, the cache was found at 2145 in the company of chewinprickles and robmc. This was the second time on the trip that we had found two cache containers in the same spot?? Some nice tress at this location, never did like pea soup. Thanks happyharries for the cache.

05-Jun-08
Not sure how long these trees will last as they are digging around the bases of a few of them atm. Interesting bit of history.
Thanks, Robmc.

Second attempt to locate the Pea.

This time it was on the second time around that I found the pod with it's two peas. One appears to be deeply rooted now. I expect a new crop from it soon.Smile

25-May-08
Out and about with She-Gecko... After a couple of unsucessful attempts some time ago, I returned to the scene of my disappointments to have another go.. Success!!! And guess what?? Another cache container was found (just like two peas in a pod!! It sure was strange!! TFTC

Rastas had this one in hand before I had even finished locking up the car. Just like two peas in a pod it was. TFTH Smile

13-May-08
Found at 14:40 but it was not in any hiding place....
It was just lying on the ground out in the open.
I have hidden it in a location close to where my GPS said was GZ. Happy Harries may need to contact me to confirm correct location.

I was provided with some history of the area that helped me to appreciate the placement of this cache. These trees seem perfect for hiding caches, and I particularly liked the clue, it made perfect sense.

Thanks,

XC back in Manly on another business visit to Manly Vets. After busy day I I stopped here for another attempt at this one. Went right to it this time as it was not in its perch.. whew as likely it could have been a tough one.
Signed log and replaced where I thought it belonged.

No domestics, no marijuana, but definately a cache ... finally!! A couple of quick looks over the past while revealed nothing, and when Tiki 3 fell over and hurt himself last time we were here, I knew I'd be going this one alone. Love the hide ... always looking for inventive new ones! TFTC.

23-Nov-07
XC early in morning before going to clients... Was not easy to look for cache as there was so much traffic. I should have bought my reflector vest. At least it loks like I am doing something official. Looked in every nook and cranny.. No find... (I hate DNF's)
Thanks for the fun.

Found the cache without problems but as Scadia said in his log it is an interresting area. For my visit their was a strong smell of marijuana probably coming from one of the nearby houses. TFTC.

14-Nov-07
Was walking up to this cache when there was a domestic suddenly breaking out right in front of me. Not sure exactly what was happening but the lady looked like she was either having a fit, drunk, drugged, or just crazed. A car of yobbos pulled up and started yelling abuse at the man (who was abusing them back and telling them to butt out). Eventually 000 was called by another bunch of passerbys, but the man put the woman into a car and drove off. Phew. Suburbia excitement.

Cache was tough to find. In the middle of the search a bus pulled up and a bunch of school kids were out and playing around the area, so searching had to temporarily stop. I roamed many times around the trees before I finally spotted it.

Great hide. Thanks happyharries for the cache. TNLN.

Yes, this time it was there - coordinates were good. Looked all around the tree, until I saw something odd...

Fifth of nine DNFs for the day. Sad I quite like peas, actually, but this is one pea I couldn't have. Even the previous finders I had with me couldn't find it. We gave it away at 1820. Disgruntlement was starting to set in. Sad Cheers, dak.

Great hiddy hole, our second hunt for this and bingo, we got it.TNLNSL.

01-Sep-07
No luck for me.
Approached just after 6pm, hoping for a quick find. There were people unpacking picnic chairs at GZ??? Continued on to next cache. Came back, and by then people had multiplied. I was suspecting a large party, but then remembered that this was Riverfire night. So grabbed another cache, then came back to watch the show. Dump and burn was very impressive from this distance! One headed into our direction.
Headed off to get a couple more caches, came back and spent 30 mins checking every single hole in the tree. No cache. Sad

17-Aug-07
Found on a quick zip around with Weekend Maverick to follow up on caches planeed for and not got to on the Ekka holiday..

Checked the 3 obvious trees, and checked them all again, then checked the two nearest to the coords again, got finger stabbed (multiple times) with those sharp pine leaves in the middle of the tree....( what are they doing there??)

Hmmmmmmm Maybe my caching mojo has left me... Next time???

#11 Find on our Brizzy holiday!
After another day hitting the shops, it was time to go out at dusk for a walk. By the time we reached the site after stopping at a nearby cache, we were looking by the light of the Legend. Being a bit weary of Aussie creepy crawlies, the hand was quickly pulling the cache out, signing the log and replacing by the lights of the oncoming traffic!!!!

28-Apr-07
I was looking for a micro, but even if it was a nano I can't believe I didn[t find it - I think I turned every single leaf, rock, stick and brick in the vicinity over looking for it. No success.

28-Apr-07
Ditto Just a Trifle. Ended up looking in and around every tree to no avail. Never mind, there's always another day.

22-Apr-07
Why is it that everyone else says it was easy to find and I had no luck? SadSad Will have to bring a second pair of eyes with me next time, because if it is that easy to find, mine must have been painted on today!Wink

31-Dec-06
Would never have known the history of these trees but for this cache, thanks very much. Mr Dosphoenix layed his hands on this early on in our search. Found at 9:30am, number 8 of 15 finds today. Thanks HH.

31-Dec-06
Mr. Dosphoenix grabbed this very quickly. Thanks for the recall- I remember the Edgel factory here.

30-Dec-06
Found this one too easily - we could see it on the ground beside the tree as we approached.

Signed the log and put the cache back in the tree. Not sure if it's the same spot it came from, but hope it's close.

Thanks for the cache!

Mumma NANKS was out on a geocaching late afternoon with "Liz and Bruce". We walked from tree to tree and finally all decided on a tree each to search. I grabbed a rhinoceros beetle excitedly at one stage thinking I'd found the black shiny cache in the depths of a hole but it soon warned me to stop with an almighty hiss! Surprised I then accidently stabbed a hairy grub with my trusty pocker stick. Twisted Eventually my luck changed and I pulled the pea from its pod. Big Grin

I signed the log and carefully replaced the pea.

Thanks to the "Haps" for the cache.

26-Dec-06
With Mrs Nanks at the steering wheel and me reading out previous logs it was a case of thinking this is going to be a real hard one to find. We were trying to get the gps' to settle and decide where to concentrate our search. Before long the notoriously talented Mrs N had the cache in her little hand in no time. Thanks for this interesting cache happyharries

26-Dec-06
Shelled this little pea.Cool

24-Dec-06
Gee I hate 'em in trees......

Both my parents & Grandparents used to work in the Edgels Cannery, so when I saw this one here I had to give it a go....boy has the area changed since the cannery closed...

I spent ages looking for this one and climbed all over the tree in search of the cache. There are so many holes to stick your hand into...but what else lives there?!?

Finally found it, but forgot my pen, so I've left a VWNuts sticker to log my find.

23-Dec-06
Spent 15 min looking before coming under the scrutiny of local dog walking muggles concerned that I was a member of the Deen Bros looking to takeout the trees. Unfortunately one of these trees does have the blue paint marks of death.

Without the aid of a help line to find what must be a pea sized cache I moved on.

18-Dec-06
I'll admit to a DNF on this one. Caching time was limited but thought I had searched all the possible holes. Must have missed at least one.

12-Dec-06
Aggggghhhhhh - That pirate is good !

TGF and I however looked for ages to no avail. We broadened our search but had no luck. In desperation, we resorted to calling the happyharries for some assistance.

Hmmmm - a bit embarassing really as i completely missed this hidey hole after looking for ages!

Thanks to the happyharries for the help and the cache!

12-Dec-06
Oh man that was tough! I mean... I read the hint but I really wasn't expecting it to be *there*. I would expect to see a few DNFs on this one, so we were pleased to be able to knock it off, even though a bit of assistance was required.

This was my 7th find for the day in the company of Mr Hawmorford.

08-Dec-06
Cor, a sneaky little cache hide. Like a pea in a pod Smile
Glad I had the old push bike with me. It gave me an excuse to hang around for the 20 minutes or so it took for me to shell this PEA without looking suspicious Big Grin
Keep up the good work happyharries. It will give me someone to blame for all my hair falling out [:o]
