Appears to be too easily muggled so go to disable...for now.

19-Jan-20
Well we have not had much luck here. Our 1st visit resulted in a DNF due to the cache missing in action. Today the result turned out to be the same. Right away we spotted the round lid of a sistema container sitting in the open at gz. After a decent search of the surrounding environment including scrambling up and down the steep bank, checking out all possible hidey holes it was concluded that the cache was again MIA. Scotty phoned the CO who also confirmed that we were indeed looking for a round sistema container. Oh well maybe another day..........

23-Oct-19
Noticed that this cache had been replaced so it looked like a great destination as I needed to stretch my legs. With a little encouragement kiwiexplorer123 decided to join me and we had a great evening dash down the hill. Fantastic location on arrival! Our search started a little high but we relocated after exploring options there. I shifted altitude and continued the hunt and located the cache soon after, with a bit of prising I freed it from its hiding place and was able to sign the log. Popped everything back again and then gave kiwiexplorer123 a bit of a helping hand to get down. Now for the uphill return.....,
TFTC!!

Sadly the cache has gone so is the track able. I’ve replaced it with a new container and log book. I’ve also updated the clue to reflect the changing landscape.

07-Oct-19
Two DNFs. Will go and check the cache this week. Will be hiding from kiwiscott19...unless it’s there then Lol

06-Oct-19
Had been eyeing this cache for a while and finally decided today would be a lovely day for it. Arrived at GZ and had the place to ourselves. Scrambled, from high-terrain 5 eat your heart out, to terrain 1- not taking into account the trail down. Nothing. Read and re read past logs. Ultimately one last trick up the sleeve - phoned the CO, at home on a day off!! It has been so long since he visited he didn't want or couldn't offer a hint, which one was it? He will be grilled next opportunity scottie has when working with Mr Corbees. It may be there, it may have slipped away......

Not found
We haven't find what was the "native" clue.

10-Mar-19
Good find

28-Jan-19
Awesome spot for a new adventure. Dropped travel bug

28-Dec-18
So we had been out this way before and decided that since it was near the place we were staying for the Christmas period we would polish off a few more caches in the area piece by piece to get some dot day done. With the weather really hot it was great to come down here and get some good shade.
This cache took us to a little bay that I had not been to before. After a spot of climbing around we eventually re read the clue and had this one in hand. Great to see the area has been reused and looks to be regenerating nicely.

# 1229 Out and about today looking for a nice easy walk and a cache close to home. I am actually running out of close to home caches here even though I don't live here I visit frequently. Jimmynz and I had fun rolling the cut gum tree rounds down the hill, so naughty. Took a while to find this one but jimmynz finally found it nice and cosy in its hole. All good inside. Thanks thecorbees for bringing us down here today. I liked the historical middens pile firmly cemented in the concrete chunk nearby, including crown Lynn pottery. Foto attached. I wonder how old and what this place was used for.

28-Dec-18
Happy post Christmas and eve eve eve eve of the New Year! Today I thought I would take the opportunity to fill in a couple of day dots in my ‘finds by hidden date’ grid. That is how I came to specifically target this cache. I am also currently trying to maintain a current geo-streak which is turning out to be quite the challenge! So after parking as close as I could I made my way to GZ on foot... which was a bit further than I expected but an amazing spot! It didn't take long to locate the cache... the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next hunter. So thank you thecorbees for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so.

19-Jun-18
Lovely little neglected spot thank you for bringing me here TFTC

27-Dec-17
A lovely & quiet spot on beach. Geocaching at its best. Thanks for leading me here.

21-Oct-17
This took a bit of searching as I was inn the wrong place at first, so retreated a bit and the cache was located in it's snug hidey holeSmile. Dropped my first TB here to continue it's journeys and picked to up. Interesting little spot at the bayvery nice even though it was cloudy. Unfortunately the tide was quite high so getting some of the other caches was virtually impossible.TFTC

31-Jul-17
Today saw us tackle some of the caches along this "walkway" for our caching adventure for the weekend, We were joined along with vistra, yorkshirekiwi83 and KirsTim. It was an early start on this cold and frosty morning, a nice toasty 1 degree celsius when we took off. We decided then to sign the logs as "Brrrrr!" as a result.

Remembered trying to find this cache quite a long time ago, but it resulted in a DNF. This time, it was a nice straightforward find, and a perfect spot for a bite of lunch. Thanks for the hide.

31-Jul-17
Came by this cache to discover a TB and to drop one! Smile

30-Jul-17
Met with Vamber, yorkshirekiwi83 and Vistra for the this costal series, setting off a couple of hours before low tide. Oh boy it was cold, 1deg at Vamber's place. We encountered mud, slippery rocks, and rising tides, Given the temperature of the morning, we signed the log as Brrrrrr! with various numbers of the letter 'r'. Perfect place to stop for lunch in the sunshine, but only after we secure the find and drop a few TBs, thanks

30-Jul-17
A very chilly start to the morning, Vamber, Vistra, KirsTim and I (signed as Brrrrr!) decided to do this walkway this morning, and it didnt really warm up that much until the end either. Read others logs and realised it had to be easier than we were thinking and sure enough we soon had our hands on it. TB's in.

30-Jul-17
I teamed up with yorkshirekiwi83, vamber and kirstim early this frosty morning to tackle the Waikowhai Walkway caches from Onehunga to Blockhouse Bay. It was a fun day out, tackling the mud, slippery rocks and rising tide. We only had one DNF along the way and had to abandon our coastline walk towards the end, due to our slow pace and the tide coming in. We signed the logs "BRRRRR!" on account of the chilly temperatures we encountered! We stopped at this spot to have lunch in the sun and found this cache while we were there. TFTC!

2 x TB in.

07-May-17
Yeah, found it! TFTC

07-May-17
Nearly have up on this one when some other Geocaching friends arrived. Went on a joint search and they had a second look at a spot we have looked before and found it! Smile) Thanks for hiding!

08-Apr-17
This is my third visit here ....And I wasn't very hopeful !
Luckily I had two other pairs of eyes and hands with me : and it was soon located , in a place we had all checked , but not well enough !!!!!
Much easier than I had previously expected ...no need to risk life and limb up the bank .....!
Thankyou corbees !

08-Apr-17
Out as part of the Waikowhai Walkway Wanderers today. With the three of us it still took a little bit of hunting around to locate this cunning hide. TFTC

08-Apr-17
Took a double check of this spot to track it down, but got there in the end. Tftc

05-Feb-17
Found while walking from Onehunga to Blockhouse Bay with Agazo. Really enjoying this walk on a beautiful day with some postcard scenery around. Took a little bit of searching to find this one as GPS seemed to be steering us off course a little. Was bout to give up when the cache was found using a much simpler approach. Cache is in good condition. TFTC.

05-Feb-17
Today, the Bennett24s and I walked along the shore to get as many of the Waikōwhai Walkway caches as we could before the tide returned. The GPSr had us searching all over the place including some difficult locations. When we settled down, the find was actually much more simple than we could have expected. TFTC.

12-Jan-17
Second time to have a very long search here and a dnf.....sorry; no joy ....nearly slithered down bank on slippery leaves...

10-Sep-16
Sorry for logging so late! Out on one of Cats&Dragons missions with HKCB and iammrwalker.

Not sure why I struggled with this one back in December 2014! The cache seemed so much easier this time! A beautiful area. However it was much more beautiful when the tide was in... this was deliberate though as we were finishing the Waikowhai series. TFTC!

10-Sep-16
C&D had devised a bit of a plan for a challenge he has been working on for a while now, which meant we were focusing on caches with a 2.5 or higher difficulty and terrain rating. I've been a few of these missions with C&D lately and they have always been a bit of fun so I quickly said I'd tag along, we were also joined by iammrwalker and Ky3ber.

The plan meant we had to catch two low tides on both coasts as well as squeeze in night (very early morning) cache before the first low tide at 6.45am. A rugby game this evening also meant we were on a fairly tight time frame for the day, so to get around that a 3.30am start was agreed on. We had a fair bit of luck throughout the day and managed to locate all that we were had planned plus a few others that were close. We signed the logs as HICK, and acronym of our caching names. A big thanks to all the CO's for the great caches which were found today.

Kyb3r mentioned as we were hunting for this one that he'd DNF'd this one a long time ago. Fitting he go the find to turn the unhappy blue face into a yellow smiling one.

Find #14 for the day.

10-Sep-16
I was fortunately able to accept an invitation to join Cats&Dragons, HKCB, and Kyb3r on one of C&D’s infamous ‘missions’. The goal today was to collect a bunch of Terrain 2.5 and Difficulty 2.5 or higher geocaches in the Auckland area. We also grabbed some others along the way including a couple that required special requirements. We signed the logs as H1CK an amalgamation of our Geocaching handles. Many of the hides required us to navigate coastal areas at low tides which necessitated us leaving Hamilton at 3:30am. Having been on previous trips like this one with C&D I was keen to go again. The high difficulty, high terrain caches often are much more memorable and higher in quality and that was true of the vast majority of caches we found today. Thanks to the adventurous CO’s for the varying placements and enticing us out and about to discover some new and cool places.

Enjoyed a nice walk to GZ thanks to a low tide. It was Kyb3r who found this one, avenging a DNF from early in his Geocaching career. TFTC.

10-Sep-16
Here we are at it again, and in "we" I mean HOAC out and about picking up a few targeted caches in the Auckland Region. Today the team comprised of HKCB, iammrwalker & kyb3r, collectively signing the log as HICK.
As I'm still progressing through the DGSc Challlenge and working to completeing my final elective this was always going to be a challenge in the true meaning of the word. Only the Criminally Insane begin this Challenge and if you weren't prior to starting you will be by the end.

A big thank you to all cache owners whom placed and maintained these caches, we had a great day.

So another even earlier start as we were working to the times of the tides (on both coasts) so of course being out of towners this will never be at a convienent time, but rather when we can pull a group of us together and work to make a great inspired adventure of it. Several of the caches today have required several visitsto gather peices of information that we put together to get the final, and so of course these were also targeted today.

This was the eleventh of twenty caches we located today with the BONUS of no DNF's. So we set off from Hamilton at OMG 3.30am, knowing that we were going to have to squeeze a lot in (as there was also a Rugby International to make it to tonight).
Down in this park to access the remaining of the Waikowhai Walkway caches so it was only appropriate to collect this one. Kyb3r said that he had tried for this one many a year ago and had to DNF so it was with satisfaction we turned this one around

Thank you for the Placement, Thank you for the cache

27-Aug-16
Walked down from the road to this secluded little bay. Found the cache without too much trouble and as the tide was going out walked the low tide route around to the next beach on the other side of the headland and back up the hill. TFTC!

16-Jul-16
Today's wild weather ensured no one was around while I searched high and low for this one. Finally got it after feeling like a mountain goat! Tftc

13-Jul-16
Fond memories of this place. We lived in our first unit up on Cape Horn Rd and would often come down here to smoke and relax. Looks like youngsters are still using this as a place to meet and some may have found the cache (although done no damage to it.) One has left his student id in the cache. Have tried to recover it a bit with natural foliage. It's amazing how some of the pines have fallen over on the cliff yet still manage to cling to life growing horizonally. TFTC and bringing me back here for some reminiscing.
Edited to say that this cache is so old, it would have been here when we used to come down and hang out down here! I wonder if any cachers ever came to find it and were annoyed that us muggles were sitting at gz! Haha

29-Apr-16
Nice to do this cache which is more than 9 years old now. Did a nearby one and decided to walk across to see this one. Is a lovely spot and I had it to myself. Found quickly and logged the visit. Cache is in very good condition although there is no writing implement so be sure and take your own. Was a bit light on tradeables since I definitely don't need a student ID from Glendowie College so stocked it up a little and headed back to the car. TFTC.

28-Feb-16
Out with alpenmilch80 to get a few more caches for the day and came down from the road to get this one. Always pays to read the cache page and not to over think things here. aimed a little too high to begin with, but soon corrected that and had the cache in hand quickly. Great spot - TFTC

28-Feb-16
Out with evilno9 during the early Sunday morning hours to avoid the high tide and the promised rain. Searched first high than low but reading the hint solved the elevation question of the hide. TFTC

01-Feb-16
What a great walkway to do with great company. Will happily be back to do more caches in the area.Cool

01-Feb-16
Out today with Pazzabella, Bertie Blowfish and Urbangypsynz on a mission to pick up some caches in the area. A great walk down here today and it didn't take long to find the cache. Dropped off TB to continue it's journey.

01-Feb-16
Out in the area with 4 crazy cachers and 5 geodogs, oh look the sign says it is only 10mins from Waikowhai beach to the Cape Horn carpark, famous last steps, lovely walk down the hill to the cache which merlot quickly found. I always judge how steep or long a hill is by the number of seats and this one had a few. Lovely spot made the effort worth it.

01-Feb-16
I can't seem to find it. Looks like someone did find it earlier today from the posts. Went down there evening and looked around the native and the fallen tree. No luck.... maybe someone can send me a tip. Big Grin

01-Feb-16
Met up with Pazzabella, UrbanGypsy & Merlot58 & numerous geodogs, to pick up some puzzle caches in the area. Grabbed this one along the way...took a bit of searching, but Merlot58 was onto it. Tftc.

01-Oct-15

29-Jan-15
Nice walk down to the beach. had not been here before. Cache was found immediately thanks to the accurate description and hint. TFTC.

03-Jan-15
Hard to find but oh so obvious when you do. TFTC

05-Dec-14
No such luck, but it was worth it! Thanks for bringing me here! Had it all to myself! Very Happy would be a favourite if I didn't suck, hah!

12-Oct-14
went on a hunt for this with 10centnz seeing as we had both missed it previously, cant believe I missed it before, after a little search we had both previously looked before 1ocentnz eyes spotted the elusive hide, really very obvious and I was right on top of it but just couldn't see it, ohh well nice walk back up knowing it has been found now, Tftc

11-Oct-14
Quick easy find in the obvious place really, signed log just in time before 3 dogs appeared then their owner ! Now for the big walk back up the track to the car...Master 13 will need to help ! Wink

11-Oct-14
Second time lucky for me. Seeing as though it was found recently, I arranged to hunt this one down with Lokky1 since we both had DNFs previously.
For some reason this one always evaded us. After a little searching we came up with the cache. It made the walk up the hill that little bit easier knowing that we had done it! TFTC

06-Sep-14
tftc

20-Feb-14
Had a good look based on the hint but no joy! Coords had me in the shells!! I was not overly keen to stick my fingers into small places though due to the large amount of broken beer bottles around!! This area must get a lot of muggles!! It seems that all the trees are fire damaged and no one really cares about this beach!! I would say this cache was probably used to start one of the many fires in the area!! I will try again when someone else finds it!! At least it is a nice spot to log my attempt! I am not looking forward to the walk back up on such a humid day... Oh it just started to rain too!!

05-Feb-14
Think I give up on this one the coords still have me on the shells by the fallen tree after an extensive search all over area wall and embankment decided to call it quits I am getting fit walking back up the hill thou

02-Feb-14
It was missing the last time i searched for this glad its back. very low tide gave me great access around the coast line

26-Jan-14
Yes the cache gone when I went to check on it. So I have replaced the cache and its ready to go.

26-Jan-14
Enjoy

03-Jan-14
Will check out the cache this weekend to see what has happened to it.

03-Jan-14
Had pleasant walk down but due to slippage in area and fallen tree's I would say this has dissapeared again and so long since lsst find

29-Sep-13
We strolled over at low tide after collecting another cache in the area. We searched high and low but unfortunately we weren't unable to find the cache.

03-Feb-13
Found with a lot of help from another cacher, I was way off searching in the trees trying to work out what the clue meant.

06-Jan-13
Couldn't get a good GPS lock on the hill.

01-Jan-13
Dropped off TB

24-Dec-12
Replaced lost cache. Sorry the trackables have gone.

Got the opportunity to have look and it's gone so i have replaced it.

19-Dec-12
Just going to temp disable this cache until I can get up there to check on it as 3 people haven't been able to find it.

02-Dec-12
We searched for ages, but yup, couldn't find it. Sad

19-Nov-12
I was nearby getting a puzzle cache, and the tide was out so I thought I would walk across to look for this one as well. It was a lovely location, and very quiet in the evening. Alas, no luck in finding the cache today.

22-Sep-12
Oh how i searched high and low left and right. The GPS was little help with it bouncing from 1m to 20 to 16 with out me moving. The hint described half the cliff face so was ignored. So disappointed i had to give up.

19-Aug-12
Thanks for bringing us out here to explore this part of Auckland.

Great spot.

Left TB

29-Jul-12
Found with friends. Lovely walk. Dropped a tb. TFTC.

This cache is what geocaching is all about—bringing people to unique, hidden places. And this one is a gem, even on a rainy day such as this. Thanks for pointing out this beautiful place!

04-Mar-12
Enjoyed the walk to GZ. Should have trusted my GPS rather than following my nose as i would have found it alot quicker. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely beachfront area. Big GrinBig Grin

Got it this time! In a place where I had looked before but it was rather nicely tucked away such that last time I dismissed it as part of the surroundings.
Note for cache owner that there is a function for cache owner in "log your visit", "update coordinates" that will place the new coordinates as the cache's primary coordinates. This will help those of us using paperless caching devices to download it and go straight to the coordinates.
Thanks for the cache. It's a great location and very tidy hide.

11-Dec-11
Maybe GPS was a bit dodgy in the drizzle and steep terrain and its compass calibration has gone faulty. Saw a likely location that fitted the hint, but nothing there. I had left the car in Waikowhai Reserve and had to trek back quickly to avoid being locked in. I'll try again another day.

20-Nov-11
Sorry stretch.kerr, couldn't find the sunnies but we found the cache. This has been on our list for so long and couldn't resist as we were in the area. TFTC

11-Nov-11
Nice spot. bush-bashed my way back up the hill and lost my sunnies Sad

11-Sep-11
Out this afternoon with FMZ. Completed this cache while waiting for the GZ of another to become free Big Grin. Did a quick PAF at the GZ to confirm the exact location. TFTC

11-Sep-11
Out with 10cc and 10cc jr on a puzzle finding afternoon, but a nearby GZ was occupied by some strange people (yeah, the irony of it, right Wink). This one was made a bit trickier by the cache being found 27m from where the GPS was pointing - maybe it was the clouds, I dunno. TFTC!!! Big Grin

04-Sep-11
Found after a short search while in the area .Log book is damp
