Sad to see this one go, a favourite of the geoboy. When I saw the "for sale" signs go up some months ago I was worried for its fate which was confirmed when the 'sold' signs appeared. Oh well. You can't stop progress...
I think this one is gone for ever. It could be the large excavator that just cleared the land!!
I think the house and all has been destroyed. Looks like bulldozers have been hard at work preparing for a new house.
Yes, it definitely IS a spooky place!! My GPS originally led me slightly too far down the trail & I found the old stove - not quite the fire source I was looking for! Got it in the end though. I think this CZ will need to have a close eye kept on it over the next few months - there was a real estate board out the front of the property with "SOLD" written on it - perhaps the curse of no one wanting to re-develop this land is about to be broken?TFTC
This why I like geocaching. Hidden interesting spots with a bit of history.
Log is a bit wet and could do with some drying out

Didn't see any tags on trees but found what was left of the house pretty quickly. It's very overrun with brambles, etc. i was mildly spooked. SL TFTC
The trailhead seems to have been taken over by a large bush turkey nest, though I didn't spot the turkeys. A bit of bush bashing and way in gradually thinned out. Found the remains of the structure after a short hunt, with the GPS not liking the trees. Cache was in hand soon after.
Found following the creekbed was an easier way out, and came across an old sign for the Overseas Telecommunications Commission, who originally built the satellite earth station. Nice to see as OTC was my first place of employment once I left school, and while I never worked here I did have to make the drive up occasionally. Thanks antpadgem.

Found the "trailhead" and battled through the privet forrest for the first few metres. Nothing looked good at GZ so went looking for a building remnant and found the right structure. Hoping to avoid a bit of climbing, I checked some fallen parts first. Not a cache I'd attempt at night but an intersting enough locale on a sunny afternoon. Took TB, TFTC.
Love finding bits of local small history like this. Sometimes just imagining the stories behind it all. Looks like they may have died of alcohol poisoning. Came in from the WP but got a bit disoriented leaving and ended up finding their parking spaces (photo of car attached) crossing a really smelly stagnant creek and then seeing a no trespassing sign as I reached the road (photo attached) Oh well, too late trespassing completed I went on my merry way. TFTC
great place, if I hadn't seen a slight hole in the hedge thing, we probably wouldn't have found it. we searched all in and around the chimney, before realising that it might not have been IN the chimney, but around it. found it after a while.
Parked nearby the entrance and bashed in the sort of "trail". Once in threw away the GPS and relied on sight to find the fireplace. Woovakoova found it and we started searching everywhere near it; in it, about it's broken bits, under, over, in, through, around, and finally got it. Lucky we brought a torch. Signed log and replaced. Love this hidden wonder. There are interesting bits to explore everywhere. It'd be horrible if this house was yours though

On our way back from our 200th trig find at Wheeler we stopped off for this cache, one I've wanted to find for ages. Loved abandoned places and this one promised much and delivered! Pulled up where three hungry horses hung their heads over the fence and used the WP coords to find an access point. Someone had piled some garden waste right there to mark it and I climbed under a climbing rose and plunged into darkness.
It was hardly a track, just a route where the scrub didn't go right from top to bottom. Was interesting to see all the garden plants and trees that have gone feral with the coral trees rampant. There's a row of pines at the front and lots of palms as well. Found our way to the ruins and the geoboy got excited at the prospect of rebuilding the brick wall while I went on to the cache, ignoring the GPSr and just following the clue. A good hide and nice to find something bigger than a mint tin. A bit damp inside but not too bad. Signed the log and dropped in a GC to encourage a visit.
Meanwhile the geoboy completed his wall to hold out the ghosts (or hold them in?) and we went off to explore further. It had been party central some 30 or so years ago going by the old bottles and cans (with imperial measurements). Lots of old appliances - found a wood stove and a very old style washer. Also several old cars in the gloom. Finally found our way out to the road after a Blair Witch moment when we went in circles for a bit - follow the road noise!
Thanks! Great fun. A favourite.

Co ords out by about 25m but easy enough once in there . Good "eerie"cache ,well done!!!!!!
I think the real spooks are down the road from this cache.
We spent way too long searching for the cache and the chimney. Eventually Satanas666 came up with the goods. A very interesting spot, thanks antpadgem.
PS, we took the above coords at the chimney.

Definately a spooky place, as it is slowly being consumed by tall twisted trees. I was always looking over my shoulder
A lovely but eerie place. Left the boot travel bug as I thought that it was appropriate after it's last home was a cemetery.
Strange that after only having 3 visitors in the past few months that 2 cachers go there on the same day.

After a small bush bash arrived at GZ. Cache in hand soon after. Wow great spot and so hidden with road so close by.
Took geocoin away from this spooky place to continue it's world travels

Good fun, loved the tale, well thought with the entrance being tight and opening right out! TFTC
GPS was all over the place (25 metres off) but we still found it in 45 mins after reading the hint. Favourite geocache so far but it was kinda SPOOKY. TFTC
PS. This place is areal time capsule (memories came flowing through).

We were confused on how to get inside the forest and once inside had to climb around trees and under branches. Tip: there is no easy track. We found it in a chimney! It was pretty spooky. Thanks
This was a geocaching disaster with geokids!! Three leeches, screaming kids as a result and cuts from the thorns. This is an interesting (but spooky) place for big kids to explore and wish we could have spent more time here but kids were freaking out! TFTC even though we had no luck.
Daniel found with his cousin Monique and Uncle Gary. A bit tricky to find as they had to crawl thru the bushes. Left an eraser and swapped for a Winner medal.
Raining and could be called tetanus. Couldn't think where else to look but we will be back!!
1021 - 5 for today. Found on 10/04/11 2:00 PM
No problems with this one, found the entrance in from the road and located the old ruins in a short time. Using the hints as there is too much tree cover for an accurate reading it wasn't long before I was signing the log. Sure is a spooky place when your on your own. Thanks. TNSLLN

Cool little spot, who would have guessed this was here.
Great way to start the afternoon before doing a 2 page assignment.
No swaps

UPDATE: MAKE SURE YOU ARE CAREFUL OF THE BUSHES WITH THORNS/SPIKES
I accidentally walked into one and got stabbed by a few - wasn't a problem as it wasn't painful. A few days later though everywhere I got prickled is EXTREMELY itchy and aggitated. MAKE SURE YOU ARE CAREFUL!!
Hope this helps a few people

Spooky indeed... would love to know what happened and who lived here.
Don't mind the wildlife!

I have driven past this spot most days (for 13 years) going to work, some of the old style beer cans brought back memorys. TFTC
Cache check. All is fine. Not easy to get in from the road......maybe thats a good thing? Dropped off TB and took GC
It's true! It is spooky!
our coordinates were off but as we looked at the hint beforehand, we found it easily.
Can someone tell me who lived here and when?

Not sure whe the supposed track was! Bushbashed from the road to find the ruin with geokids in tow. Swapped a couple of toys and dropped off Elvis TB
It was with nervous trepedation that geonephew, geodog and I ventured forth into this scary copse of trees. The darkened paths were choked thick with privette, snagging our clothes and fur alike. The dappled light through the coral trees made the shadows flicker like ghosts in the night, yet still our hearts remained strong and we pushed on to GZ. Whilst constantly looking over our shoulders we sifted through the detrius of the still smouldering ruins whilst the howls of distant banshees chilled our bones. Triumphantly we found the prize, signed the log and dashed away with no swaps lest the restless spirits claimed our souls.thanks for a great experience, I grew up in the area and would love to know the whole story.

Well, it is a spooky place. Got all the way to the hint, but the evidence of local parties, and the warning from my local friend that this is a bumper year for snakes put me off poking around too much.
This one has been on the to do list for way too long, finally had a chance to nab it, despite the sunny day the heavy canopy still added a spooky feeling to this one, I was expecting something to jump out at any moment, or to turn over skeletal remains or suchlike under all the debris. Fortunately the cache was quickly located and it was off to our next one.
Interesting site just the same, I was a bit concerned that the sign at the WP1 stating "Government Land Do Not Enter" with clear tracks doing just that below??
Thanks for bringing us here[xx(][xx(]

This one beat us today! Reading the clues may help will go back & try again. Cheers.
Yay!! Third time lucky. Didn't help that the cache was missing the first 2 times I visited. Nice to be FTF on the replacement.
The place has really changed since I was last here. I'm sure some of the trees have moved. 'Spooky'
Thanks lots for the cache hunt

Indeed a spooky place.
The co-ords swung about, but the hint was spot on.

Cache container replaced, same position. Looks like I will have to do a bit of track clearing. Not sure I know what to do with the newly fallen tree - just a little to big to remove me thinks! Good luck and remember to what out for that ghost.
Spent 3 hours searching over 2 days. Found the house, found the chimney, but no cache.
Too good for me this one.
I'll keep an eye on this site & if I see another successful find, will return to try again
Thanks for another great challenge

Hunted around for a long time for this one, I think the spooks were playing with my GPS as a went round in a 20m diameter circle until close to calling it a day I found the little black house.
I wonder who lived here and how many years ago it all fell apart?
Weird little spot, I used the path head way point but there was no path here only the shortest route in.
left Centre Benchmark Geocoin, no sign of any other logged TB though.

Who would guess there was a house hidden here? Lots of scary fun for my 10yr old and I. Decided to take the crab. Will move him closer to the sea... Left behind "Friday" a scared "Hotel Dog". He'll need to be saved soon...
Trailhead must be fairly overgrown, couldn't find it in the dark, though we didn't really read the clues first.
Will head back out to this one soon (at night of course).

Found with a little challange. Vaguely remembered the hint as about to move on, which showed me a spot a little distant from my original search site. Left Granchio a stylish Italian Crab travel bug. He is rather far from water and friends here so hope he gets moved on soon. Cheers Tony
4 of the 6 Bugs no good this time.
Found what I thought to be the Trail but a big tree had fallen over.
Will go again with out Jr Bugs

Found this after loads of trouble finding the 'Trailhead' - just a hint if you are going towards the big dishes it's on your left, rescessed into the bush. anyway took some things left some things and took the PIN & PLATE travelbug. Will put it in another cache asap. beut spot. it was very spooky with the skull on the tree branch and all.
Bit of a cache clean out. Damp has set in so out with the old and in with the new. Also dropped off TB
11:22am
Dammit, we drove past the "track" but parked opposite on the return pass. Was not sure what to expect with this one as I had not read the cache info. Kind of a cool hidden spot I reckon. Amazing how quick nature takes back over once again.
Left a couple of trackables in here.

Thanks for the cache it was a bit of a spooky place, but very cool. The pine tree clue helped. TTCLTC.
The last note had me a little worried so I thought I'd venture down. I don't know where Zebrafive was looking, but no trespassers will be prosectuted at this stage. In their defense the trail entry is a little overgrown, I would say, take a leap of faith and dive into the bush. The pine tree would be a good start point
I won't log a DNF, as I stopped when the trailhead waypoint led me to a sign that offered to prosecute trespassers.
Took me a while to find the path but once I got to the house I found it easily... and the mosquitoes found me too! I squiggled something in the log but the mozzies didn't let me write anything readable

Last one before riding the bike.
The GZ is way off (20 m) but with the hint I finally found it.
Not like the lost places in Europe, but goes in that direction.
Although I think this one should be done at night.

Wow - sheer luck to find the first 'ribbon'. From there we were fine - followed the trail through all sorts of debris (some dangerous - so be careful if you have geokids along) Mrs had a quick look - and then sent Mr in for some more robust fossicking and he came up with the find. Great Container!! We did see skeleton bones along the trail - so keep your eyes peeled for them! Definately a spooky location - in the middle of nowhere, and with twigs snapping startling us - were keen to get out of there!

Another one bites the dust. It's a spooky place. How on Earth did you find it, Antpadgem?
Was it the local satellite dishes, or was it the local spooky spirits that were causing my GPS to show 15 metres off. The clue was the only saving grace for a quick find.. Just as well, this place realy gave me the creeps. Thanks for a very interesting loc.
With four scared kids in tow we decended upon the house.
A dead possum lay half way along the track obviously another victum of the ghostly goings on at this location. It took us a while to locate the cache mainly becasue the April fools were more interrested in finding the bones of the owner than his treasure. After making a number of spooky exchanges we headed off. Thanks for a very interesting cache.

It’s a spooky place sounds like the bush around our house at the moment. Someone thought they saw a black panther roaming along the fire trail. Now there are strange reports of dogs, cats and even chooks disappearing. What’s even worse we now have these strange people turning up who dress like the guys out of ghost busters who claim they have found Yowie tracks.
Congratulations on a very cool Cache. The Geokid thought this one was fabulous. Not to hard a find with the clue. Without it would have been a bit tough as my GPS was 15 metres off.

Looking after some friend's kids for the weekend whose favourite past time is playing video games. It was great to get them out of the house and into a bit of an adventure. We all thoroughly enjoyed the cache and found it quite easily. Good one Antpadgem!!
well ben seeing this one for a few days now on my way home and thought today was the day to go find it. only 50M from the road. NO WORRIES!!
YEAH RIGHT!! seeing that i didnt have any info on this cache at hand i just fumbled my way through the bush and then through soem more and then through a bit more until i finally reached a clearing. this is when my gps decided that it couldnt really work out where GZ was and pointed me in every possible direction. when i thoguth i had it nailed suddenly i was 20 M away GRRRR
so after fumbling round for a while i used the phone a friend life line and called shaggys for some help. with this i realised that i was rather close to the cache and had been looking in the right kinda spot, or so i thought.
With some more searching and not coming up with anything i was about to jsut give up and come back another time when i looked down and spotted the tell tale signs of a cache hide.
signed the log and left via the "Marked" trail cursing all the way out.

Got to love the container, thanks for putting the work in for this one. Had no suitable swaps on me so just signed the log. I took a while to find this one as I was looking everywhere else.
Mrs Nilbog thought the place was very spooky and even gave a little squeak of suprise when opening the cache. Thanks for bringing us here we had lots of fun with this cache.

GPS told me where to park, then I needed to find the trail. I suppose 40 years is quite a while, but I was surprised at how completely the house had been swallowed up by the bush. As others have mentioned, a very creative container, and I loved the birds nest as well.
Great Cache. Thank-you for going to the trouble you have gone to. GPS turned off at the spot. Camera and iPod refused to work even though all fully charged. Spooky indeed... Left Cat Geocoin to honour this cache. Thank-you. Peace to all! -=M=-
Spooky indeed!!!! What a lovely cache - and so well guarded, too!

We'd love to know the story behind the fire.
