Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

One can park right next to this trig point and enjoy the view at any time of day. Trig can be touched, but it's impossible to stand underneath due to the shrubbery that is growing underneath it.

This is a thing of beauty...even if it is a little damaged. But aren't we all both beautiful and sometimes slightly damaged? I think there is something in that for all of us...

How about that, found twice in 2 weeks after no finds since 2019.
I almost attempted the survey marker under the trig, but the bushes were not going to allow it.
I remember the surf reports on the radio years ago talking about Trigs, now I know where it is.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

Based at Willunga house-sitting for a few weeks, today we set off via McLaren Vale to Port Noarlunga for lunch - how many caches can we find on the way I wonder?

Found while caching in the area.

This one rare, fully intact! Gorgeous day for it.

During my trip here achieved 4x FTF's (GA), picked up a dozen moveables; plus the highlight being my D/T grid (GC) now filled after finding one up a tree.
Huge THANK YOU to local cachers: J&J, Laighside Legends, andrewbt, Atreyu1982, Blackadders, OzGrumpy, weredunn4 & Jacknor whom all contributed towards my success.
What an adventure, visiting: Adelaide CBD, Showground, Glenelg & Seacliff Holdfast Bay, McLaren Vale, Onkaparinga, Hawthorndene, Carrick Hill, Kensington Park, Teringie, Prospect, Elizabeth, Port Adelaide, Garden Island, Gawler, Nuriootpa Barrossa; and an impressive collection of planes at Greenock Aviation Museum!

Sorting through a heap of photos and backing up we came across this trig point, realising we had not logged yet, using the photo date stamp we used that for a true record of the day we visited, have been passed a few times over the years, always enjoy the views from along the coast
TFTT Very Happy

A bit dark, being at night time.

I found the trig really easily, i spotted it as I came along the ocean road. I stopped for the required photo, took in the views of the ocean then tried to also find the GC cache here too, unfortunately I was not so lucky with that one and logged a DNF.

Was happy though to find this GCA trig today.

A great spot for parking at night, so the pictures are rather crappy as they were taken with the phone. Mrs C, didn't want to get out as it was too cold.
A lovely view out to sea during the day and have often just gone for a drive along this foreshore over many years, as the views are just so nice.
