Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

An easy enough Trig to find, just head for the lookout. A quite good lookout from here today, fine and sunny.

Out on the hunt for more points in the current game. Travelling with Sol de Lune today on what turned out to be a very long day. Thanks for organising , driving and your company. Especially your patience while I traipsed along behind especially on those long uphill climbs at times. The last one standing in the rain waiting five minutes for me to arrive. ClappingDancing

Out on a day run to Nowra with Smittengranny and this was our first stop. No problems spotting the view....and not problems with the great view either. Well worth the short dirt road trip..

Out for a drive this morning along the Braidwood Road to collect a few Trig points. The road to the look out looked pretty good so took my 2wd all the way to the look out. Another great spot to see up and down the coast. I didn't spend to much time here as it was very windy. Worth the drive.

Came up with the hubby, some 4WD was involved but it was worth it the views up here r great on of the nice's spots I have been.
There has been a bit of rain so there was a few water crossings.
We had it in 2wd right up to the last 3kms then we had to put it into 4wd.
We did see a old van down from the trig it did make myself and the hubby think how did that get there.
Thanks geocaching Australia

Located near a wonderful lookout in the National Park. I drove along the Wandean Fire Trail off the Nerriga Road & then had to walk about a K as the road to the lookout is closed until late December 09. Great views over St Georges Basin & the rugged country towards Wandandian. The fire trail was in good nick. Suggest wait until the New Year & drive right to the Trig & the lookout. BTW if you come from Wandandian you'll need to be a Mountain Goat or have a 4WD with air lockers, rock crawlers, massive clearance & for you, a stout heart. I went & had a look further down the fire trail!!
