Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
Using the web-based "Survey Marks Enquiry Service (SMES)", the details for this trig station have being acquired.
The name of this cache has changed from the former "Johns Hill Trig Station" to official "JOHNS HILL-NARREE WORRAN PM 1"

Great views from this hill. Lovely fields of daffodils flowering all about.
John Johns we thank you.
After reading the info board we headed off to complete the nearby multi. Our photos have been added to the gallery.
Had a beautiful day and missed the main downpour that happened after 5.30
Loved the view.
However it was SO WINDY that I found it hard to open the car door, and had to hang on to the camera and GPSr.
Found this trig, as part of a Multi cache, @ 1330
The north view was clear, the south was covered in cloud and could not see the bay
Quick detour up the road to this magical spot.
I got out and took a snap just as the sun set.

A nice easy one at 15:00 and the views were fantastic even with the overcast conditions .
Thanks Geocaching Australia.
I've been here before on caching business - but it offers such good views both to the north and to the south, that it's the sort of spot that can be re-visited on numerous occasions.
I was down at lysterfield lake this morning, then came up here to find a few more caches. I then remembered there was a Trig point nearby.
It was pouring with rain and my camera battery was flat, so I took a picture Irwin my gpsr / phone.
Found this TP right on top of awesome view.
Great views from here.
thanks for the Trig Point
The one closest to me had already been visited so I thought I’d save that for later and try two unreported Trig Stations first.
I left home in Sandringham at about 9:125am and headed for Menzies Creek. I arrived at the first one at 10:15am. It was located beside Ridge Road between Menzies Creek and Kallista.
This one is known s the Johns Hill Trig Station. It is 419.6 metres above sea level. The survey tablet was installed on 21 Dec 1944 and the beacon in 1953.
Observations taken from here were used in the preparation of the Two Inch to One Mile topo maps of the area.
