Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

After visiting the nearby lookout we wound our way around the hills to grab the photo required to log this trig, looks a bit battered! TFTT

I wonder what happened to this one. And what is the thing next to it.

I'm a little more brazen than most, crawled under the barb wire, walked across the dry grass laden with sheep poo, right up to the top; staying long enough only to snap photo for the curious. Could not see any survey marker on ground; if there is one it could be under one of the thick bushes.
Encourage future finders to take their photo from the road do not copy my naughty behaviour.

Over here from Perth WA visiting family, and grab as many GA's as can squeeze in; spoilt by lovely weather and friendly locals.
During this trip achieved 4x FTF's (GA), picked up a dozen moveables; plus the highlight being my D/T grid (GC) now filled after finding one up a tree.
Huge THANK YOU to local cachers: J&J, Laighside Legends, andrewbt, Atreyu1982, Blackadders, OzGrumpy, weredunn4 & Jacknor whom all contributed towards my success.
What an adventure, visiting: Adelaide CBD, Showground, Glenelg & Seacliff Holdfast Bay, McLaren Vale, Onkaparinga, Hawthorndene, Carrick Hill, Kensington Park, Teringie, Prospect, Elizabeth, Port Adelaide, Garden Island, Gawler, Nuriootpa Barrossa; and an impressive collection of planes at Greenock Aviation Museum!

Not the best day for trig hunting, but at least you can still see it!
Cheers

This trig is off it's head!

I think this one will help Minotaur on it's quest to win the current Summer Scavenger Series games. Maybe. Clan Minotaur

I was so excited to find this TP on our trip to SA as it's not easy to get a TP close enough to the road to be able to log. It's on a road called "Trig Point Rd" which made picking the correct access road pretty easy. We tried to find the local farmer who owned the land to ask if we could walk right up to it but with no luck. So my photo is also from the road.

Went by here today while in the area. The trig is on private land and is worse for wear but it is close enough to the road to photograph.
