Description

Huskisson TS5059

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Huskisson.

Serial number is: TS5059.

Last inspected on: February 1, 1989.

Elevation is: 106 meters.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Located only 80 metres off Ellmoos Rd but in thick scrub.  There is a GC cache Kinda Echinda nearby.

Parked 70 m from the trig and made my way in. Not a hard bush bash at all. Great condition and the old pin was easy to spot, as well as a SSM

On a day trip with Smittengranny to this part of the coast and now into the National Park. After paying the now $13 entrance fee, we drove around close to this and headed into the bush to make the find. Once there, the full size trig was soon spotted and photos grabbed....also good to see the trig plate in place.

Out on the hunt for more points in the current game. Travelling with Sol de Lune today on what turned out to be a very long day. Thanks for organising , driving and your company. Especially your patience while I traipsed along behind especially on those long uphill climbs at times. The last one standing in the rain waiting five minutes for me to arrive. Parked relatively close and found remains of a track into the Trig. DancingClapping

We headed to Jervis Bay this morning to locate this trig point. After parking our car quite close to the trig point, we walked through the light bush for about 60m. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: Mrs y'stassie standing next to the trig point; and the identification plate on the trig point. Thanks for the cache.

Found while having a look around the territory.

After a short bush bash, the black disk appeared above the surrounding shrubs

30-Dec-16
Parked on the side of Ellmoos Rd about 70-80 metres from the trig. A short bush bash and found it with out any problems. Good to see this one is still complete.

On a Jervis Bay trig seek with rogerw3 ...

A roadside park and ponder of the thick scrub that lay between rogerw3 and this trig was to be no deterrent ... though the way chosen was the 'scenic route' ... a solid based sentinel standing proud within the encroaching bushland, it is well worth the effort to make the way there, indeed a 'track' discovered made for an easier exit.

Found with whitemushroom, no problem getting close to it, but a bit of a bush bash specially if you don't find the easy access track, now almost invisible.

Well worth the effort, with a fallen UHF aerial close to it.

#GA613 - 13:20; I was headed back home after a night in Nowra and decided to pick up a few easy trigs along the way. While this was a bit of a detour off the highway, it was an easy find after handing over the entry fee and taking a short drive up the nearby hill. A little bit of survey work looks to be underway in the vicinity, which helped with access as a few bushes had been lopped, forming a bit of a track. A nice easy find. GCA 864 - 8078. In the Jervis Bay area for a weeks work.

A quick drive to near GZ - then an easy bush bash to the Trig. A long time between visits for this one. Nice.

Although only 70 meters from the road, this was one of the harder bush bashes I have done lately!!

Popped into the bush on a short diversion while caching in the park.

Found with norkmeister and albida. Mmmmm how do you get to see anything from this one now. About 50 meters of bush bashing to get to this one. Thats me in the check shirt in Albida's photo

A short scramble in the under growth to get to this trig. It would be hard to get a sight on this none at the moment. Albida.

Another Shoalhaven trig I identified via a Topo Map. GE showed it to be some distance from the road but this isn't the case. Just a bit of scrub bashing required.
